I was offered a vegetarian meal, not on the menu, a side dish and a juice however I ended up paying more than the people who had a meal with meat and acool. I paid a Lil less than 50$. Way too expensive.

I really hate that I have to write this review as we really wanted to like this restaurant given that it's one of the few places serving food from West Africa. My family is Ghanaian and we were so excited, yet horrendously let down.

Unfortunately, we had a horrible experience dining here. My family of three ordered one entree each (fish, chicken, and beef dish), a side of plantains, two hot teas, and one bissap juice. The drinks came out within the first half hour but we waited nearly 90 minutes to receive our food.

About 40 minutes after ordering we were told they were out of beef. We were asked our order no less than three times. We didn't have any substitutions or changes to the menu options.

When the food arrived, nearly everything was scorched/burnt. The plantains were burnt. We couldn't get beef and instead was given pork. The pork was terribly dry and the sauce that came with it had a scorched flavor. The fish was flavorful but also overcooked (dry). And most sadly, the jollof rice also taste scorched. It was as if someone burned the rice at the bottom of the pot. And instead of cooking a new pot they just tried to serve the rice towards the top, but the burnt flavor had already penetrated throughout. We even spotted a slight pinkness in the chicken. Everything about the food was reprehensible.

While the wait staff were quite nice, they simply could not make up for the fact that we waited entirely too long for dismal food. Nothing we ate was good, or barely edible. Unfortunately, customers continued to come in after us. They, too, began looking around wondering why folks were waiting for food.

The only good thing to come out of this restaurant is their bissap tea and juice! That was a delight. Maybe sell that at a coffee shop or juice bar? The place also has some lovely art and decor touches. Again, really wanted to enjoy this place after seeing the reviews and write ups, but whoever is back there cooking has no business serving food to the general public. The pictures were terribly deceiving.

The menu is very small but the staff is amazing the atmosphere is very charming. A good discovery their drinks are amazing the fish too the chicken is ok try it at least once

Nous sommes allés souper au restaurant Maquis Yasolo pour mon anniversaire. Ce fut une expérience incroyable! Le lieu est très beau, la nourriture bonne et les propriétaires sont très accueillants et généreux. Je recommande définitivement.

First time having african food and I was not disappointed. The staff were friendly and service was great

I organize a dinner group with MeetUp and we explore many different cuisine other than the usual. This place was fantastic. The food was full of great flavours. Their menu changes monthly because of the uniqueness of each exquisite dish. We went for Black History month and they had Cameroun cuisine. Most of us had the grilled bass and some had the chicken, both we on spot

The chicken is magical.
I called, and the same day shared an eating experience with my whole crew at Chez Roger. This is worth every dollar. The level of flavour is brilliant.

Petite place très sympathique, le serveur était très attentionné, le poulet cuit au charbon était délicieux. J'ai aussi bu un jus d'hibiscus qui était très rafraîchissant.

Maquis Yasolo était au Nuits D’Afrique le week-end passé… Une bouffe excellente, une ambiance exceptionnel, une expérience culinaire inoubliable!

Service client impeccable, la propriétaire a été accommodante avec nous malgré notre arrivée un peu plus tot que l'ouverture.

Disappointing.they were supposed to be open but decided not to despite having traveling a long way to try it out.

We came here as a party of 2 during an event. They were clearly full and still took us. The service was fantastic, the food was amazing. They didn't forget about us the whole time. We ended up having a great night with an amazing ambiance and amazing food. We will definitely return.

Une adresse incontournable pour qui aime la bonne cuisine africaine. Portions généreuses, ingrédients frais et savoureux, pas gras du tout. Le poisson frit (l’Abidjannaise) était succulent! Les options végétariennes sont appréciées. Et que dire de l’accueil des propriétaires: ils sont juste adorables! Je recommande absolument.

Le restaurant est très beau avec ses décors africains. Ils apportent une atmosphère calme et confortable. Les employés du lieu sont très accueillants et gentils. Service impeccable.

Poulet: la cuisse de poulet était sèche et des parties de peaux étaient trop cuites alors c'était un peu brûlés et impossible à mâcher comme elle était rendue dure. Sinon l'assaisonnement de la viande était bonne avec un bon goût fumé. Le riz collé est selon moi la meilleure partie. Assaisonnée simplement, mais pourtant s bon et parfaitement cuite et juste assez épicé. La salade était simple et bonne, mais la portion est très petite (voir photo). Les bananes plantains sont frits et coupés frais alors très bon!

Agneau: Moi je trouvais que l'agneau était très bien assaissonnée avec des épices que je n'ai jamais goûté et il y a un très bon goût fumé. Je le trouve super bon. On doit mastiquer un peu plus la viande, mais moi ça ne me dérange pas. Sinon, même commentaire pour les accompagnements.

Nachos frits: bien croustillant et frais, la sayce est n mélange de sucrée et sûre. Ça marche bien. Zéro assaisonnement sur le chip.

Je dirais que les proportions de viandes à accompagnement n'est pas super proportionnées. Tu es rempli après le repas si tu prends une entrée, mais je trouve que c'est un peu cher pour ce qu'on obtient.

The Poufet du Maquis was AMAZING. I spent the whole dinner talking to the waiter and another customer. Very friendly, welcoming environment, you are family here.

Ordered the Tilapia dish and it was perfect and well balanced from spicy to sweet. Honestly a chef’s kiss! I’d definitely be coming back

Awesome service. Unforgettable food. The atmosphere needs a bit of warming, but it didn’t deter from having a great experience.

Extrêmement joli décor; service chaleureux et accueillant. La nourriture est délicieuse et ce sont de bonnes portions, avec options végés- les drinks sont originales et superbes, la musique et l'ambiance sont très très bonnes. Emphase encore sur l'équipe sympatique. Allez y passer un bon moment!

Malheureusement, nos 2 plats étaient désastreux.
Le poisson était tellement salé et le couscous goûtait l'huile rancie. Le porc jerk semblait être du réchauffé de plusieurs jours car il était même difficile à couper avec un couteau. Après 2 morceaux, j'ai abdiquer.

Friendly service and great food. Had the Fish with fried plantain which was excellent. Nice vibe. Good music. Highly recommend!

The goat was wicked. The jerk chicken was alright but the flavor on the goat like 6 stars if I could

Exceptional service! Alain and Solange make you feel right at home. The food is rich, tasty and leaves you wanting more! I loved the jerk veggie plate!

Great find! The ambiance was great, with music loud enough that you have privacy talking within your table but not have to yell. The food was délicieuse and the owners were lovely! We're told that the fish dish is from the husband's homecoutry of Ivory Coast and the chicken dish is from the wife's Congo. Portion was just enough, the meal was well-balanced.

On another note, if you're planning on visiting them late at night, maybe give them a call to make sure they're open. We came here the first night around 9pm and it was closed though Google said opened till 23: 00. The owner said they're still figuring out the reopening after covid. Give them some love please so they can go back to serving their full pre-covid menu 'cause I'd love to try

Such a lovely meal! The owners were incredibly kind and accommodating. I would definitely recommend the “African Sangria”!

GREAT RESTAURANT.

The chicken we had was so delicious! Like really delicious. It was so smokey and flavourful without being overpowering. The rice and plantains were super tasty too.

We also had the fish and couscous which was just as good!

I just got home and I wish I could go back right now. Très bon:)

Also the husband and wife duo there were very friendly and made us feel at home.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Well flavoured food and unique dishes. I loved the rice and ox tail, the rice had a smokey taste and perfectly cooked. The oxtail was like a stew, very rich and tasty. Would highly recommend.
