Came a couple of times already. Food is pretty good, price is reasonable, and portions are filling. The souvlaki, lamb chops and fries are delicious. Really recommend the marathon salad over the Greek salad, which mainly consisted of tomatoes (? !). Rice tend to be a bit undercooked to my taste. Lunch menu is available with some of the same food, but a bit cheaper.
It's Clean - it's bright - I'm pretty sure I heard some Greek music playing in the background but I could be mistaken Service was fast but they're absolutely not rushing you out the door and they do check to make sure you're enjoying your meal and top up your water and coffee - Very Hospitable Environment with Mouthwatering Food that brought me back to Greece and all with Great Service - Thank you George! You're the Best!
I'm a regular customer at the West island location. This location has the worst service. We were seated tonight and then ignored for 20 minutes before we got up and walked out. Don't want my business, no problem plenty of other restaurants on decarie that want customers. I won't be back any time soon.
Fantastic restaurant with great food and service! I went here for brunch on a Saturday and had an excellent souvlaki pita plate. The fries were good, the salad was good (although was maybe a bit too heavy on the tomatoes) ; and the pita was excellent. I would highly recommend this place!
Nous sommes arrives vers 22h, ils étaient en train de fermer. Mais la cuisine nous a donné un repas bien fait. Les serveurs nettoyaient et ils n'ont jamais essayer de nous pousser vers la sortie
We used to loved this place. At least once a week-take out. After COVID the food quality has gone down tremendously. We gave it another shot today Wednesday, Sept 13,2023paid over $80 of food. Rice was hard, bread hard dry, souvlaki meat dry. Really disappointed. Not going to order take out again.
Great ambience. Tried out lamb chops, chicken brochettes, souvlaki, chicken pita, Greek salad, fried cheese, calamari and everything was made to perfection! They were out of filet mignon. Staff was friendy! Food was served on time! Would definitely recommend!
Personally Marathons is my favourite souvlaki. Lately there’s a lot of Greek restaurants opening up and I’ve tried them all but Marathon still remains my favourite and the best souvlaki in my opinion.
I got the gyro plate combo. First of all no tzatziki, no pita bread, just garlic bread which is super weird and disappointing to get from a 'greek' restaurant. The Greek salad dressing was literally water and a dash of olive oil. By far the worst Greek salad I have ever gotten in my life. The potatoes, meat, rice was all pretty decent, nothing amazing but not as bad as the rest of the meal. For the price I was really expecting some tzatziki.
They served me very quickly, and the food was warm. It was close to closing time, and it was still really good. The salad is big and everything else is good.
We ordered fried zucchini and chicken pita. Both were very tasty and fresh. The portions were big and enough to feed two people. The service was also very professional and warm. I recommend the place if you are fond of Greek food.
Tonight we had a disappointing dinner. We ordered 2 combo plates. There was skimpy portions of donor meat, the meat didn’t even cover the bottom of the round tin foil plates. The fries were under cooked. The only good part was the salads. We will continue to eat at marathons but not from this location. The West Island location has always been consistent with their food, always delicious, fresh and huge portions.
Always fresh food that tastes great and the portions are generous! The staff is also very kind, no matter who serves you. I highly recommend this place.
I loved their proprtions and decent pricong HOWEVER, somehow I find HAIR in the food. I would start eating the food and once i take another bite i see a black straight short hair on the bottom of the plate. This has happened two times. The most recent was after the lockdoen was lifted. I told the waitress, she switched it. But of course ive lost appetite and i was with company. I dont get it why they dont take precautions. So this is my two cents and honestly i wont be coming back.
I had heard so much good about this restaurant, unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. The waitress was rude as she sat us at a table and the bread served to us was hard and cold. We ordered the chicken brochette and Spanakopita.
The chicken and salad were very good but the rice was lacking flavor, the Spanakopita was not good at all. The pastry tasted limp and stale with barely any cheese.
Our waitress was serving our table and a couple that she clearly knew. We finished at the same time so she was bringing the receipts to both tables. She literally just threw the receipt at our table without a word and went to let the couple pay and proceeded to chat with them before finishing serving us.
Honestly, food was decent but the service was just pathetic.
Best suvlaki ever! The service didnt even chage with the pandemic as all other restaurants! They still serving the plates full of food and goooood as always!
What I love about Marathon is that they do truly care about their clients. I've had Marathon dozens of times and it's always delicious. They had one bad day recently, but I spoke to the friendly manager Peter and he made up for it. They even took my feedback to improve. Thank you very much!
Amazing reviews so tried it. It's a busy Restaurant which is nice. We had chicken stick platter. The chicken was nice. Was expecting a more flavorful rice and Greek salad. Lemon, oregano, olive oil salt pepper- how could you go wrong? The flavour of the rice reminded me of Uncle Bens par boiled rice. Did not enjoy the salad. But that's me. I wouldn't go again
My favorite go-to Greek restaurant. The salads are SO fresh and the fries are addicting! The service is always really friendly and accommodating, not to mention short wait times for your order! Great price range and quantity, I have never left hungry!
Yummy souvlaki pita (pork), the chicken is good too. The plates come with enormous servings of potatoes and fries. The salads heavy on the onions. Fast service, reasonable prices.
I got food poisoning from my last order by Uber eats. Within the 12-13hrs of eating it I threw up 5 times and I’m still feeling sick. Worst experience ever.
**the Gyros & Souvlaki dishes are made with pork** **house salad is lettuce, cucumber, onion, Greek cheese, 2 olives for garnish, and a mayo based dressing**
Had dinner with a group of 9. Reservations were made by not myself. When we arrived we still had to wait but I never spoke to anyone myself so I'm not sure what happened. When we were seated were put at a table for 8 when our 9th showed up it was a bit awkward however, the absolute second the table next to us became free what looked like the floor manager immediately had the table cleaned and attached to ours to make more room for the whole group. This was very much appreciated! I was impressed with how quickly that was moved on.
The food is the best Greek food I've ever had (but I haven't had a lot). I ordered the chicken pita plate with a 2nd pita. I could not finish it and had to take the 2nd pita home. The pita was incredibly fresh along with everything else. The rice was neither over nor under done and the flavor was 100% there. The lettuce on the house salad was incredibly fresh and crisp and was not swimming in the dressing!
All in all for 2 people we ordered 2 chicken pita plates with a 2nd pita each and 2 ice teas which came to about $50 before tip! This can be reduced by ordering water and no 2nd pita (4.25or something each)
1 star because there is no 0 star option. I was just refused service because I was alone. They did not want an empty seat so instead refused my business.
Restaurant provided basket of warm garlic bread, then enjoyed plate with chicken stick, marathon salad, half rice, half French fries discs.good and very filling. Quick service but not rushed out; reasonable prices. No surprise that restaurant was full on Thursday evening!
Quick service, reasonable prices. Restaurant provided basket of warm garlic bread, then enjoyed plate with chicken stick, marathon salad, half rice, half French fries discs.good fresh and very filling.
Every time I go, I am never disappointed! Great food, big portions and reasonable prices! They start you off with garlic bread that I can never get enough of!
Have been going there for years. Generous portions, well known menu, family atmosphere, still a great place for a casual get together. But it can get noisy
