You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. It’s all great. If you can, go for the prime rib. Was so good I got a second order to take home. Oh and the schnitzel is another fantastic option.

Food was great, and our server was spot on with everything from wine recommendations to best dishes. 10/10

Really liked the food, the service, and the decor. Looks like a warehouse from the outside, but is really nice inside. Parking is available which is great.

At first glance the place is absolutely gorgeous, I love the vibes and the decor. My friend and I weren’t very hungry so we just ordered a couple of dishes, which to be honest were very very good, but we both felt they were way too salty. Coarse salt was sprinkled on both and it kinda stuck around in your throat for too long - I had to do my best to scrape it off. We also ordered some fries to accompany them and those were disappointing. Not sure what the chef was going for - clearly wanted to make his fries different than the usual - but the result just tasted somewhere between stale and burned. Almost like the wrong potato was used. However, you can tell the dishes were developed with thought. I’d go back because I’m very curious to see how else they play with food, and their techniques in the kitchen are clearly on point. Nice mix of flavours and textures. Service was good and laid back. The Brussel Sprouts were the winning dish for sure, though it might feel a little heavy on the tummy afterwards (heavy on the butter and/or fats used but sooo sooo tasty!).

Such a great discovery — excellent food, atmosphere and service! The lamb shanks on lentils were particularly good. It was our first time but we will be back!

Went with a large group and got the family style sharing dinner. Started off well with some nice salads and Brussel sprouts. However, there was nothing special about the ribs and chicken. They weren't dry but weren't particularly fall-off-the-bones or juicy that'd you'd expect at this price point. Overall, probably not worth the money.

Group of 10 adults and 2 kids. The booking process was a bit difficult, as indicated on website I emailed to request a booking for 12 but did not receive an answer. Ended up booking two tables of 6 and trying to call to inform restaurant of group. We couldn’t get through the evening before or morning of until 30 minutes before our reservation. We were informed that we wouldn’t be able to have brunch and would instead be served a set lunch menu. This was disappointing but considering the booking miscommunication we agreed.
The food was amazing and the space was gorgeous. The service was lacking, our waitress gave us lunch menus so we figured that the set meal would be items from there. When I asked her about it she said that we wouldn’t be ordering from the menus and took them back. She did not explain what we would be eating and disappeared so we waited. Thankfully delicious food arrived. The no-frills service continued. Our waitress did not check in on us once and we had to get another waiter’s attention for all drink refills or questions. When the bills came I asked if the children’s meals could be discounted as I felt that the $40 asked did not match what they had eaten and this was graciously accepted which was appreciated.
I’m chalking this one up to end of brunch shift fatigue and me being too last minute on the booking process. Overall we had a good time and I would love to try the spot again as a smaller group to sample the menu!

Great atmosphere, perfect service (Sasha was great, that may not be his name (I think I heard another server call him that), the chocolate cake had some epic underlying flavours that are worth the eventual lactose induced bottom flood.

All in all a most excellent experience.

Beautifully decorated, nice and cozy ambience. The food was okay, nothing special. The mushroom focaccia was very salty. Their specialty rotisserie is juicy but not to my taste (it had a strong wine flavour). The food is 3 starts for me, however the service was impeccable- hence the 4 stars.

The servers were so friendly and helpful…The food was delicious. I had the chicken and my husband had the schnitzel sandwich, amazing. We will become regulars

J'ai adoré mon souper! Les plats sont originaux et très réussis. Les portions sont assez décadentes.

I had a very internal debate on how to rate this. The restaurant was very well kept clean and great decor. The weight staff was very kind and attentive especially our waiter. Not to mention the schnitzel burger and potatoes were great. But we did have a issue which ultimately brings it down to a 2 star. I went with a few people we ordered the schnitzel with eggs and asked them to be well done. We got them and they weren't so we asked to either get a new plate or just cook them more. To our surprise the waiter came out and said the chef is not doing any "substitutions" so he couldn't do anything but give the plate for free. Sounds to me that the chef is to prideful which is a pathetic way to be for food that wasn't cooked to the way a customer would like. Might come back but in reality if they can't re-cook an egg I'd rather not know what else is going on. Thanks to the waiter for great service I'd personally hate to deal with kitchen staff that's so embarrassing. Good luck in the future.

A real gem for the Montreal restaurant scene.
Great cozy ambiance. Friendly and highly knowledgeable efficient staff.
Not a big menu, but menu is done so that there is something for everyone.
Value is incredible for the price as not only portions are very generous, quality of ingredients is top notch.
The pomme tomme salad is a must have.
The rigatoni romanoff a little too salty but done to perfection.

The food is to die for and the service is as great as the food. It’s always a pleasure to come eat at McKiernan. The staff is very friendly and always finds a way to make you feel special.

My partner and I had the BEST experience here. The food was delicious and savoury and the service was incredible! Our server, Jacob, was so kind - he provided the best service I've ever received in any restaurant. He took the time to explain the featured menu, gave us recommendations and was all in all, amazing. We will be going back very soon! Also - make sure to have a reservation (even on a Sunday)! I'm sad I don't have pictures of the food to show, because we devoured it as soon as we got it!

Very large portions. Great open indoor space. The seasonal plates are great while other plates could use some more complex and nuanced flavours

Great place for a drink, food or coffee. The service is good, the place is bright and well decorated. It’s also very easy to find parking near it + there is the canal right in front of it.
2 cons:
1. Go there only if you gonna chat/ meet up a friend/ date/ grab a coffee with a friend, etc. NOT SUITABLE FOR WORK or any other activity that requires an internet connexion or a laptop.
2. It’s a bit expensive ;) but it’s fresh and tastes good.

My new favorite food destination when visiting Montreal. Our server was very friendly and super helpful in describing each of the food items we asked about. Large spacious dining area with tables nicely spaced out. The beer selection is awesome and very tasty. Lunch was a schnitzel on a bun with tasty fries followed by the best strawberry filled donut. You must try this place.

Our overall experience at McKiernan was great but unfortunately there were a few dishes that weren't up to their normal standard. This is my third time going and it's been a five-star experience every other time this time the Sunday roast was extremely chewy and the roast vegetables seemed flavorless. The roast chicken was yummy and we had a special beat pasta that was memorable.

The pros are definitely the ambience and we always have fantastic service, they have cool wines and I love the family style vibe. The schnitzel is delicious and they have donuts for dessert that might be the best donuts in Montreal.

Delivery: rapini pesto lumache was really good but more as a side dish since the rapini is so intense. White tuna was perfect. Not what I was expecting at all but the large pieces were very well flavoured and presented. Cauliflower was tasty but when they literally give you the whole head of cauliflower not just pieces. Definitely a good portion and the mushrooms mix was great, but not exactly the easiest to eat. The chicken croquette wasn't that great since chicken doesn't make good filling in general but it was nice and crunchy on the outside. Donut was delicious. Pineapple cake was good.

We had a good experience overall at McKiernan. We were mostly impressed by how fresh were the ingredients of the burrata salad and the white tuna appetizer. I do not recommend the giant oyster since it seemed like the oyster shrunk with the sauce they put on and the taste of the oyster was overtaken by the sauce. The portions of the mains were very generous and tasty, but the taste got repetitive (we had the beef rôti, pork shnitzel and ravioli and, as you can see on the pictures, the plates are not very diversified in terms of ingredients). I would advise to order less mains and pick sides instead. The strawberry doughnuts were amazing but I would have passed on the tiramisu! Service was friendly. I do recommend this restaurant and will come back:)

What a spot! We went for lunch which I feel like is the best time for this vibe. Bomba sandwich was delicious perfect I’m very way. Also had the fresh rapini sausage pasta which blew me away (don’t tell my Nonna) and the donut? My goodness. The peach filled donut was so fresh and delicious I was not expecting it. We also got to try some very interesting and tasty beverages exclusive to Montreal and the Joe Beef coffee is my new favourite drip coffee.

That was delicious. The ambiance and the food is amazing. The service provided by the staff was excellent. I had a schnitzel and it reminded of what you can find in Austria or Germany. To be fair, the Best Ravioli was better. Eat a lot then take a stroll on the Lachine Canal.

Hier soir était la 2ème fois que ma copine et moi allions manger à ce restaurant. Première fois en personne cependant, puisque la fois d'avant, c'était seulement en take-out du aux restrictions sanitaires de la Covid-19. Notre serveuse était très attentionnée et souriante, et la bouffe est tout simplement ''su'a coche'' comme on dit en bon québécois! Les portions sont généreuses en plus, on a des restants pour les lunchs hahaha. Sinon, le restaurant en tant que telle est très spacieux, bien éclairé et décoré. Ca a du style ;) Nous avons apprécié l'expérience dans son ensemble, je recommande chaudement.

Un trésor caché à Montréal. Excellent repas et décor de goût. Petites portions dans l'assiette mais dans l'ensemble belle expérience.

No matter what I try here, everything tastes delicious. Special mention for the Muffaletta, lumache pasta and of course the homemade donuts. They change up the dishes based on the ingredients that are in season as well. A must try

Absolutely gorgeous place! The space is wide open with incredible natural light pouring inside. Great view.

The inside is nicely designed and the vibe is cozy and very pleasant. It is not the best destination to go by bike however, especially during the construction period. A bus goes very close and there is a large parking space.

Great for group gatherings and receptions!

Came in for a late lunch on a snowy day. The space is wide open and the day light comes right in to the place. Very nice. Large table seating, no cramped space so makes for a very relaxing space.

Walk right up to the back for take-out and get my food. Prices are a bit more than usual for the area, but the quality is there. My soup in a coffee cup (Tomato) was $7 which seems steep until you are presented with it and smell it for the first time.then you start scheming on how to steal a large vat of it from the kitchen.yes, I am saying the tomato soup here leads to a life of crime. Soup crimes. So very enjoyable.

I've only tried their sandwiches yet (muffuletta was amazing but awkward to eat), but the plates look gorgeous and smell amazing. Will be back for supper service at some point.

Entrance from within the building (second floor) or via the north side of the building (where the parking lot is) next to a Daycare. The outdoor entrance is a set of stairs, so not wheelchair accessible (from that entrance).

Parking can be validated and is free for 2hrs during the day.

The place has a really nice laidback cafeteria feel while offering well-thought and greatly executed food. Besides the ever changing "cuisine du marché" menu there's an extensive wine list with a unique offering. Good for a quick lunch during the week but also for a dinner with friends on the weekends.

J'adore chacune de mes visites au Mckiernan. La nourriture est fabuleuse. L'endroit est majestueux. Le service est irréprochable. Ça vaut le déplacement!

We went for a group menu was phenomenal. Food portion was good. Seasonal vegetables and some classic we are full and happy

We came in and were extremely rushed. We were teachers that had to return to school for parent-teacher interviews. They served us the most amazing lunch (family style) 30 minutes! Terrific!

Nice food, good service. The kitchen offers a nice diversity (fish, poultry, meat, veg options, cooked/tartare, etc.) for a menu that contains about a dozen items. Try the McKiernan doughnut and cookie.

We were suppose to have a bigger group for a surprise party, but a new staff screw up our reservation big time.

Fun atmosphere and great space. Kids had fun with foosball table. Food was ok a little hit and miss. And price point seems off. But a good experience overall.

Bottom line: beautiful space.crummy place (to eat).

Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure it’s actually not AS bad as a one star.but after our experience we will not be returning or recommending this joint.

My partner and I arrived almost as soon as it opened. We are visiting MTL and just finished a big breakfast (at Arthur’s Nosh Bar. AMAZING spot.believe the hype.actually maybe just go there.skip my review and this place in general) and were looking to have some drinks and eat again shortly after as we had limited time in the city and wanted to try out McKiernan as we had heard so much about it. As soon as we sat down we noted that we would like to have a drink and hold off on food for the moment. Our waiter was attentive and kind. However, there was another staff member who seemed to be running the show (seating everyone and coordinating wait staff - white t-shirt, green pants, brown boots) whose behaviour was completely unacceptable. Upon being asked if we would like to order another drink or food by a bus boy, this staff member pulled the bus boy aside and said in French “do not serve them a second drink unless they order food”. He said this under the assumption that we do not understand French.when in fact we do.and my partner is tri-lingual.

Soon after this happened our waiter came up and noted that they were “not licensed as a bar” and could not serve us drinks unless we ordered food. I sucked it up for my partner and and ordered the chicken which was mediocre at best. Once I finished the plate we were quickly rushed out of the space. While guests have to pay up on the counter the same rude staff member came up and took my credit card and cashed us out on the spot. I could not believe this guy thought it was okay to speak about customers like this.let alone in front of them under the assumption that they don’t understand what he’s saying. Awful behaviour.

Too bad for this joint.we were ready to have a large meal once we digested our breakfast. Will not return or recommend.

It was great! We got there at the end of lunch though. The way the space is set up, it might get loud when it's full.

Gone with a certain level of expectation based on the positive experience l had at the other places of the partners but this one was a bit dissappointing, the rib we had was very dry and cold, the rest was OK, nothing outstanding, service was very friendly and good, given the previous credit of the owners l will give them another chance later on

Joe Beef meets lunch. Original slection of comfort food that is reasonably priced. Fantastic choice of sweets, easy to-go items. Nice old factory with ceilings and huge windows with great service.

Beautiful space. Rude staff. Apparently you need to order food to grab a drink. We settled down after a big breakfast and we wanted to have a couple beers until we were ready to order. Once I went to order my second drink I overheard one of the service staff say in French that in order for us to get another drink we have to order beer. We were speaking English and I assume the staff did not expect us to speak French.

We were forced to order food to get a second drink which already added to the mediocrity of the food being served.

Will not return. Do not recommend.

J'étais présent pour un évènement, l'ambiance est décontracté. Les plat était simple mais goûteux. Une belle expérience.

The perfect combination of comfortable and unpretentious, McKiernan (part of the Joe Beef family of restaurants) is ideal for an upscale yet casual lunch. The large space is both industrial and charming at the same time, with long rows of tables and string lights creating a luncheonette atmosphere in the best possible way.

The lunch menu is scattered with delicious options like rotisserie chicken with endive salad, a juicy tomato sandwich, rainbow trout on a bed of lentils, as well as generous muffaletta sandwiches stacked high with Italian deli meat.

My rotisserie chicken was juicy and smoky and the side of endive salad had the most delicious vinaigrette. My wife's homemade rigatoni with vodka sauce was perfectly al dente and the sauce was smooth and vibrant at once. The French fries with garlic aioli was crispy perfection.

Finally, the desserts were among the best pastries I've had in the city. The doughnut filled with blueberries and lemon ricotta was utter perfection, while the peach cinnamon roll was melt in your mouth delicious. The salted dark chocolate chunk cookie was one of the best I have ever had; soft and crispy at the same time.

We would absolutely come back!

Awesome place, just takes long for the food to arrive. I was speaking to the waiters and they said they were working on getting halal certified meat! That's always a plus for me as I love meat!

Great location for lunch and dinner. Food-wise, although it's the sister restaurant to Liverpool House and Joe Beef, standards are high, but not quite yet in the same level of creativity and execution.
Service is super good and attentive, atmosphere is super nice for a casual night out with friends or company events.
Good wine selection and decent pricing.

Excellent food in a non pretentious atmosphere! All the food items are extremely good. Come here often for work lunches and never disappoints! I had tried the cauliflower soup, the peach and tomato pizza, the eggplant and arugula pizza, salmon and roe sandwich, tuna sandwich, rigatoni and everything was beyond amazing! Too bad I didn’t take pics well maybe next time

Eclectic huge floor interestingly decorated. Had the roast chicken breast and the trout. Both excellent choices. Well presented and tasty.
A random choice of a blueberry muffin was a fine one, so chock full of wonderful berries I wasn't sure if there was much muffin to hold it all together.

I’ve been to McKiernan several times for lunch and was never disappointed. I went for dinner for the first time and it was overall great, but we had to send the chicken back the first time because it was very dry. The beef tartare was excellent, the mortadella beignets were decent (if you’re into a cold donut stuffed with pâté) and the squash “monte Carlo” was very good.

Waited 25 min to have someone come and take our order. Already disappointed.

After getting the food,
1) Rigatoni was under cooked
2) chicken salad was too salty.
3) fries was good
4) the cold cut sandwich was good
