Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Dorval

A huge disappointment.

1) We checked in around 3 PM and the experience quickly went downhill from there. For whatever reason the staff felt it appropriate to to have a conversation about us in French, not realizing that we are fully bilingual and could understand every rude word en française. Only when my husband interjected in French did their conversation suddenly stop. The issue was the Wyndham price drop guarantee, the staff did not want to acknowledge nor discuss the $130 price difference and instead pointed out that it was our problem for having booked our stay so early. I called Wyndham Rewards but never received an email or call back.

2) The wifi password provided did not work and we had to call tech support to obtain the correct password. When we let the front desk staff know the error in the spirit of providing helpful feedback to help future customers, they told us we were wrong and the password given should have worked. After being met again with unsavory attitudes we avoided all staff for the rest of our stay.

3) The breakfast was disappointing and subpar. The corners that were cut were obvious: turkey bacon in place of real bacon, watery oatmeal, rock hard pancakes (microwaved?) and slimy, undercooked scrambled eggs that had a gooey coating (powdered eggs?).

4) The gym and pool areas were poorly maintained. Both areas were littered with garbage on the floor, chairs and work out equipment. The gym had a window wide-open to chilly outside winter air. The pool had used wet towels on most of the chairs despite there being no other patrons around, the towel bins were overflowingly full and there were no new towels available. The water fountain had a large hair scrunchie which was observed by a staff member who walked away without addressing any of the mess. About half and hour later another staff memeber did bring in a stack of new towels and emptied the used towel bin. My husband ended up with an ear infection from the pool water and is now on antibiotics. Yes, it was from the pool water because he started experiencing symptoms after our first night using the waterslide.

5) Our room was the saving grace of the visit. It was clean enough, however there were a few areas that needed dusting and the body wash bottle in the shower was empty. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the extra blanket was much appreciated.

Hopefully this feedback will be taken into consideration for your future guests and the owner/management will amelierate their operational standards and invest in staff training. Microtel should not equal micro service.

Worse night of my life … kids running all over the place til 1-2 am I called front desk many times, nothing. The only good thing about the place is the giant slide. Hot tub was out of order. Never again.

It’s a very good hotel. Clean, friendly staff, free parking. Large clean rooms, all looks new. Good breakfast options.
3-4 star not 2.

Went there as a last minute thing. Breakfast is great, service is good.

Je n’ai pas aimé mon séjour à cet hôtel. Si vous comptez y aller pour la piscine avec vos enfants, ne le faites pas. L’eau est très froide. J’ai pris le temps d’appeler la réception avant de faire ma réservation pour m’assurer que la piscine était bien chauffée et la dame, Shanie, m’a spécifiquement répondu que oui alors que ce n’était pas du tout le cas. Mes filles grelottaient dans l’eau. Considérant que c’était la seule raison pourquoi nous avons réservé cet hôtel, je dois dire que je ne retournerai jamais.
De plus, il y avait énormément de bruit de craquements dans la chambre, ce qui a rendu mon sommeil très désagréable. L’autoroute à côté n’aide pas non plus. Beaucoup trop cher pour les désagréments.

Friendly front desk service and the manager was helpful when we needed to use a quiet extra space for work. Breakfast is standard with eggs, bacon, sausage and muffins and bread. The pool, water slide and hot tub are clean and new, as are the rooms. Excellent stay overall.

This was weird because they had some available rooms for a early check-in at 1: 30 pm instead of 3pm. I was going to upgrade or pay whatever was needed but SUPERvisor Shanie was on a mission to decline every request. We had 2 other friends arriving 1 day earlier, just wanted the kids to enjoy the pool.
Was all the lying saying the hotel is full & can't pay the difference between my room and a suite really necessary?
You need to reset between 2 clients at costumer service!

Easy to get to, very comfortable rooms. Less one star because sometimes the breakfast cafe runs out of coffee and takes some time to be refilled. Nice food

I’m surprised by some of the reviews here as our room is very spacious with a little living room, fridge, microwave and a coffee machine. Our check in took no more than 2 minutes. This place looks new and feels clean. I would stay here again.

The property itself was splendid in that it is a new hotel. If you are looking for a place where staff are warm ad welcoming, this is not it. The room was also small but for a night or two stay, it isn't the worst. I loved the area with the pool, waterslide and jacuzzi so for that reason they get three stars. Be aware that this place is near to the highway so you will have to deal with that noise. Breakfast had no labels.it was a vegetarian's nightmare as the potatoes were touching the pork. The lady serving the food was not much of a help and was not pleasant.

The hotel is new, nice and clean, with a nice furniture and rooms setup and big TV, the swimming pool is great and the kids had a great time going down the slide, the breakfast was lacking a little more extra to be a perfect one.

Stayed here for 1 night with family (I'm a local) due to house renovations and enjoyed our stay overall. The front desk staff were super friendly and accomodating. The hotel is very clean (it's also very new). A nice perk was the giant indoor water slide for our kids. They also have a heated indoor pool and hot tub. I didn't use the gym, but it looked very clean with basic equipment/machines for a good workout. Pool and gym towels are provided. Breakfast is included (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, muffins, bagels, cereals, juices, coffee/tea, etc). The wifi was strong and fast. I was able to do my work without loss of connectivity. They also have a few boardrooms for private meetings and one larger conference room. Nearby, you can visit a local forest (Bois-de-Liesse) with beautiful hiking trails. There's also a grocery store nearby (Marche Adonis), a few malls (Galerie des Sources, Centennial Plaza, Fairview Mall, etc), cinemas (Guzzo is the closest, followed by Cineplex a few exits down), and tons of restaurant choices in the area. If you want local farmer's produce, a visit to the Marche de L'Ouest is also a must. And finally, one of our favorite places to go relax and enojy nature is Centennial Park (with a man-made reservoir/lake and hiking trails, kids' park, dog park, etc). The only reason I gave a 4-star ratings instead of 5 is because the price we paid seemed a bit high for the size of the room provided. Also, I suggest you ask for a room that doesn't face the highway (due to noise pollution).

The hotel itself is very nice, and clean. I especially loved the pool area, the gym, and the rooms.

I thought breakfast was pretty good for a continental, eggs, sausage/bacon, potatoes, muffins, toast, etc. Basic, but nicely presented and the right temperature.

Areas to improve on however, customer service & house keeping.

We stayed at the hotel as a group of 7 (2 rooms) and never once did our rooms get serviced. We were gone everyday from 9-11am and again from 1-11pm… how housekeeping managed to completely miss our rooms despite having carts on our floor every morning was disappointing. Garbage never taken away, towels never replenished… we eventually just serviced our own rooms with the carts that were left alone outside our rooms.

Hotel staff was not welcoming nor friendly. No hellos (or bonjours) no well wishes… nothing.

I would recommend this hotel if you need something basic & clean… but don’t expect much out of service and would definitely not recommend for long term stays as there’s no close restaurants or bars. Getting ubers took 10-25 minutes every time (it was a long weekend though).

Also, early check-in would’ve cost us $150 although the parking lot was empty… and they charged us $5 for some paper plates & plastic forks. They will charge you every chance they get.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and we want to thank you to the personal working there for their hard work. We were in other Microtel hotels in Canada and more in the US, but this one was above all of them.very well organized, clean and a accessible price with a very good service. We seen the manager itself involved in helping his staff, and we were pleased to meet him.

Great place, everything is new and clean. Awesome pool with big waterslide! The breakfast is top notch, they have hot, cold, drinks everything! Naomi at reception was great.

Great service, we turned up very late but they were quick and accomodating. The first night there my toddler was having trouble sleeping after a very long drive, and the front desk attendant offered my husband a boardroom to let her run around in after seeing them walking around. My older kids loved the pool, and according to my six year old, you have the BEST waterslide. My 9 year old is already asking to come back. Great breakfast and clean rooms. Also really nice pillows.

Nous avons passé un excellent weekend. Mickaella et Naomi à l'accueil étaient souriantes et sympathique.
Les chambres très confortables, les lits et oreilles sont mouelleux, nous avons très bien dormi. Nous pouvions facilement régler la température de la chambre.
C'est un nouvel hôtel, et c'est super propre.
La section piscine est intéressante, il y a une piscine pas très creuse, un spa et une grande glissade, du plaisir pour tous.
J'apprécié le p'tit dej inclus, bcp de choix d'inclu: oeuf brouillé, patate, bacon, saucisses, pain, bagel, des fruits, fromage et une multitude de breuvages.
Je recommande cet endroit sans hésitation. Nous sommes situé a 20minutes du centre-ville de montreal, et tout près de l'hôtel il y a beaucoup de commerces dont des restaurants.

Amazing indoor waterslide!
Shaine at the front desk made our trip just that much more wonderful. Will come back for sure. The breakfast could be a like bit more but it was pleasant.

My family of 5 arrived around 11: 30pm. It took the front desk person about 20 minutes per person to check in. We didn’t get up to our rooms until 1am. The line up was very long and so many people were eager to get checked in. For such a busy place at least 2 people should be working front desk.
The beds were very uncomfortable as were the pillows/ blankets.
For such an expensive stay I excepted a lot better. Would not recommend this hotel.

Horrible service! Horrible staff! The manager is extremely rude. The manager threatened to call the cops because we wanted them to abide to the confirmation prices. They told me prices were 209 plus tax on the phone. In person they say it's $219 plus tax. Then they increase prices every night you stay there. Refuse to tell you this from the beginning. Then they charge me 229 plus tax on the first night instead of what is written on my confirmation. Rooms are extremely small and feel claustrophobic. I will not ever recommend this crapy hotel. They should have handled this situion without attitude and with respect. I normally never write reviews but this hotel service was outrageous and disrespectful.

A wonderful hotel, it is in a great location, it works well for our softball team since it is pretty central to where we end up playing.
Very central and easy to get to.
The staff are amazing! Friendly kind and helpful.
The floors in the rooms are laminate which is great much cleaner.

Space is tight in the rooms but that's to be expected, you won't be doing square dances in your room, but the beds are comfy.

Nice big TV with a Google Chromecast device on it, very cool.

What an awful place. They newly opened but already horrible reviews including this!
Please brush up everything what you need to improve (too bad it’s already brought up!). Especially front desk staff!

DO NOT RECOMMEND! Very disrespectful hotel with many hidden fees. They lost my reservation first and made me pay so much higher than orginally told on the phone hours before. Didn't send me the confirmation email the first time. Rooms were tiny. Breakfast was tasteless. Not worth the money and if you book for more than 1 night, the rate changes every night you stay there by a $40 increase every night. The manger is extremely unprofessional. From the beginning she had was rude and spoke with so much attitude.

Don’t book here! Check in takes 10-15mins per person and the line ups are crazy like over an hour just to get your room key. Terrible customer service, move at a very slow pace.

Came in late around midnight since our flight was canceled. No restaurant or bar but there is a small snack bar. We were still able to order pizza at 1am so that was cool - Salvatore is the restaurant.
