I love Mr. Steer hamburgers and the whole experience. Yes they are more expensive than fast food burgers but they are so good. Service is excellent and friendly and fast.
This restaurant is one of the best restaurants i’ve ever been to, the food is super tasty and comes quick, the atmosphere is great and our server Dan was such an amazing guy! Definitely should get a raise, i would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
This place is so good, we had to come back the next day. The burgers are ground and seasoned in house. No toppings needed they are so good. The staff are amazing too. I just got done some pretty invasive surgery and they didn’t even bat an eye at my appearance. They have an accessible, baby change, gender neutral washroom. Lots of seating. They are also licensed to serve if you wish to imbibe.
I love being able to have a medium rare burger. It was absolutely delicious, as was the chocolate banana shake! I come here every time I visit Montreal.
We came here for lunch because it was high rated and we were nearby. From the beginning we felt that the waitress was kind of rude. We are not expecting the waiter to be extra or even smilling but she was speaking under her nose and when we asked her kindly to repeat it she told us like she was doing us a favour. We got the feeling like the two waitresses there were laughing at some guests. Food was good, maybe burgers were small and not what you expect for that kind of price. Overall the experience was destroyed by the service
Honestly very over priced tiny burgers for me.they are good ill give em that but last week paid around 42$ for 2x the " supreme " burger no drinks included came burnt and not so supreme looking at alll just 2 average sized looking burgers cant say id come back for awile
Their burgers and curly fries hit different. It's one of the best places in Montreal for burgers. The meat seasoning is delicious! Have been going there for years and the food is always consistent.
My girlfriend has celiac, and the staff there assured us that they a gluten free burger. She was really sick after having it. They also overcooked the burger - we asked for medium, and it was VERY well-done. This place has gone way downhill from what it used to be. I can't see myself coming back.
Food was delisious And our waitress Sarah was beyond words kind friendly excellent service from this girl she could teach other waitresses how it is done! Will definitely go back!
You understand after that first bite of the hamburger why this place is a Montreal institution and Temple for burger lovers. But beyond the amazing food and beer being served to you is the impeccable service by the legends that work here. Two enthusiastic thumbs up for the experience. It’s a first date place, one to bring your parents to, one to bring your kids to as well. Oh and that concert at the Bell Center? Have a burger here before going there.
I’ve been coming to Montreal for years ever since I was kid when the expos were still in Montreal and always wondered about this place. Now I can kind of see why I never tried it.
It’s not the best burger in town, but it’s also not the worst. It’s kind of just oookay at best. The same can be said about the fries.
I personally can’t really recommend this place despite it being around for quite a while.
The customer service at this restaurant is absolutely horrendous, I went there and was turned away, with no explanation. From inside the restaurant, an employee waved me off and used hand gestures to tell me not to come in. This was well before closing time, I'm a regular looking person well dressed and wasn't drunk or anything, I just wanted a meal with my friend. I was offered no explanation, at the very least, open the door and explain to me why. This restaurant does not want business, so avoid. They don't deserve our business. Support businesses thst actually want customers
Inexcusably bad, and extremely overpriced too. These are not just mediocre tasting burgers, but unappetizing and simply stomach turning. The meat (formed in a small ball) is seasoned, however the taste is unappealing-similar to meatloaf or cooked spam. To make matters worse, my "medium cooked" burger was served *literally raw* (meat uncooked and cold to the touch!). A replacement came cooked medium well this time, but fared no better in taste. Adding to this, the lettuce was pale white, and the tomato was an under-ripe end slice. The bun tasteless. The only passable part, the bacon added. All in all, the burger was just stomach churning, unpleasant to eat and left me feeling nauseous afterwards. The fries were a tad under cooked but average tasting at best. The only saving grace was the milkshake I ordered, which uses real ice cream and really old fashioned tasting! Nice and thick, even the straw stands in the middle. However, it was not enough to make up for the rest of the meal. The family member I ate with thought even less of the burger, and not usually picky (they had recommended Mister Steer as they'd had tasted their burgers back in their glory days, decades ago). How times have changed.
The cost of two burgers, two milkshakes and one fries? $50! Shameful, considering the complete lack of care by their chef, and the terrible (inedible I should say!) quality of the food served.
This restaurant is a simply part of the macrocosm of what Montreal restaurants have become today. Live solely off your past reputation and glory, charge and arm and a leg, and then serve utter rubbish to your customers as they will blindly accept anything served to them (the best prey are unwitting tourists!). Unfortunately will never be returning. As the saying goes, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice.well.
A pre hockey game favourite spot for many. For us just a lucky guess while looking for a place to eat. The burgers were so good, just like homemade but with out the mess of making them and cleaning up after. Our server went above and beyond with directions and suggestion on getting around town. We went back for breakfast we were so comfortable there, it was just as pleasant. But again, those burgers, yumm.
Excellent accueil.
Best experience ever! The waitress was prompt and polite. Make sure to save room for dessert, because that was the best part of the meal! The experience was heavenly as I was served a meal fit for God himself. Everything I tried was bursting with flavor. Easily earned their 5 stars!
As we were walking by the restaurant we stopped to read their menu out of curiosity, when a member of staff from the restaurant started talking to us. A tall, bald and assertive staff member listed their best selling items and insisted that we came inside to look at all of their awards and articles in the Montreal Gazette. I didn’t count, but he must have mentioned that they had articles written about them in the Montreal Gazette about four times.
We said that we were just looking and weren't hungry, when we said this he simply spoke over us and repeated how the burgers were the best in North America. The overzealous, aggressive and incredibly pushy member of staff repeatedly tried to usher us into the restaurant as though he’d just come back from a high pressure sales boot camp. He held the door open for us and said, “I’m holding the door open for you so come and look, I know you’re not hungry”.
I never write reviews, but I do know that giving a restaurant a one star review without trying their food is probably bad practice, nevertheless the guy at the door made up my mind about the place. I’ll probably never go back, because of him. I do know that they must have won their awards for a reason, but I’ve never wanted to tell a guy to shut up as much as this one. Hopefully this guy’s manager, or somebody from the restaurant, reads this and moves him into a position where he can’t interact with their customers.
It only took me a couple of minutes to write this, but hopefully I will save somebody from this guy’s belligerent and insistent sales techniques. Maybe he should consider a change of career and start selling timeshares. I know that this review may seem a little aggressive, but I feel like it matches our experience with this particular member of staff:)
Not a top 10 burger and pricey. Has small portions. If it's a top 10 burger joint why does it need a guy on the sidewalk pushing it on you. Girls serving us was great. That's mostly why they got the 3.
Superior quality meet done to your liking. The rest of the burger is rather plain with a standard room temperature bun. Curly fries were a little under done. The classic decor is rather neat and clean. The service was friendly and efficient. Worth a visit.
Very bad breakfast and really cheap portion for breakfast you thought you just get in a famous nice restaurant i got so dissapointed for the rest of the menu i dont know but for 15$ breakfast so cheap and simple
