10/10 brunch experience! (June 2022)
Very quaint atmosphere, delicious food, affordable prices and outstanding ambiance. Particularly enjoyed the jazz music at brunch which was a delight. I had the eggs benedict with lamb, creme brulee for dessert. My friend had the breakfast poutine.

Came for dinner May 2023 - duck confit was delicious and so was the creme brulee. The appetizer bread and butter was so yummy. Beautiful background live music which I enjoyed over my meal.

Jan 2024: had duck breast, grapefruit mimosa.

Fast service. Very Friendly waiters. Yummy snails.first time trying and was blown away… Beef tartar was also a 9/10 very well seasoned. Mussels were delicious as well. Thank youuu - our favorite meal in Montreal so far.

Amazing experience here with my friend before a concert. Service was exceptional, food came out quickly, and everything was delicious. Our server was employee number 5009 (I think!) Tall man with glasses. Thanks for a great time!

Nice live music with possible the best onion soup outside of France! Very friendly staff too! Highly recommended.

Hard to find anything good. Slow service, food was average and unattentive staff. The truffle mac and cheese had almost no truffle taste. Bernaise sauce saved the experience.if you have nothing to do and have hours to spare waiting for food, this might be for you

It’s strange, if we sit in the band section, we hear nothing on each other. If not, it will become a regular restaurant. I like the place decoration though and it’s very clean

We celebrated an anniversary dinner here and the food was amazing. The service was friendly and attentive, not rushed but timely. Would highly recommend adding this your list and would go again if ever in Montreal.

Expensive for a really normal and basic food’s quality. The service is not accurate. Nice decoration and ambiance though. The brunch with music proposes an ordinary sound.

My wife and I had lunch at Modavie. Lorenzo is just great. He was kind enough to seat us at the table my wife preferred. He was attentive and really cared about our dining experience. He clearly has passion for what he does. We ordered Roquefort gnocchi and a lamb burger. The food was just OK. Service was good.

Enjoyed a beautiful evening at Modavie. Perfectly situated window table upstairs looking out onto a marvelous night on Old Montreal, accompanied by a lovely Jazz duo.

Our waiter was attentive, friendly and patient and lidos to the Chef and kitchen team for managing a productive and efficient kitchen - impressive timing.

Between the two of us we enjoyed cocktails, mussels, salad and the Lamb Chop dinner with the crème brûlée and apple tart for dessert. All of the dishes were very good and we would recommend- particularly on a live Jazz evening!

One special place. Food, look and feel. Just great. Spring for the expensive steak.the "steak and fries" one is a bit tough.

A great and authentic french restaurant. Portions are … french. The oysters are a must try and so is the blood pudding. The spot is very well decorated and has a late 1800th century nobility vibe. You feel elevated in class and culture when you eat at Modavie. Perfect spot for a date with your partner.

The duck confit was perfectly crispy, tender and savory - served w honey almond cabbage side that was a subtle treat. Great wine selection.

I’m a huge lamb lover so when I learned Modavie specializes in it, plus there’s live jazz at 7 pm, it was the perfect recipe for a date night.
Radouan was our server and he was very attentive.
Highly recommend this place!

Awesome experience, french food was delicious (coming from a french person). The atmosphere and the live music make it extraordinary.
Lamb dishes were excellent, I had a very good duck confit as well.

A classic French bistro. I started with an espresso martini which was superb. My friend ordered a manhattan which was unfamiliar to the staff but they made it excellent. I ordered the lamb as they are well known for it. Definitely tender and “fall off the bone” but there was not too much flavor. That being said it was not gamey whatsoever just not something I would order again. My friend ordered a linguini dish with octopus that was phenomenal. All in all I would recommend this restaurant. The live music and ambiance was excellent and it you know what to order you will have a lovely time.

Honnêtement la nourriture était vraiment pas bonne. 17$ pour une toute petite portion de tartare de saumon et ce n’était même pas bon. Le pire c’était le risotto aux champignons. Je suis désolé mais il était dégueulasse. Je sais pas qui a approuvé les plats, mais je ne comprends vraiment pas.

My wife and I enjoyed dinner at Modavie during our honeymoon and were blown away by the quality of the food, service and amazing live music.

Lorenzo welcomed us as if we were guests in his home and warmly ushered us to an upstairs table with an amazing view. We ordered the beef tartar, rack of lamb and ratatouille, all 3 dishes were absolutely perfect. Alexandra waited attentively on our table and made sure my wife's dairy intolerance was noted by the kitchen.

The night was topped off with a complimentary glass of delicious Port wine as well as some champagne courtesy of a table near us, the clientele were as friendly and gracious as the staff were.

Modavie is a MUST when visiting Montreal!

Excellent roast lamb, duck confete and risotto. Great live music, it is a gem of a restaurant.highly recommended

Great service, super tasty food and great wine. My photo doesn't do my steak frites justice at all, it was amazing! My fiance got their signature dish, the rack lamb, so tender and flavorful.
And I loved the jazzy ambiance in the background with the live music, and it was perfect, not too loud so we could have great conversations with our friends.

The food here is delicious and the atmosphere is very nice, I will definitely recommend friends to come, and I will miss everything here

The ambiance was great, the good was on point except for one of the dessert we ordered that seemed to be frozen a bit. We told the server and they offered to write if off.

Was there last month on a brief Quebec visit. Decided to try Modavie as it was recommended. Was greeted by Lorenzo, and bottom line is that he is a ROCK STAR! Great experience being here, excellent food, staff & live music too! Will return

Incredible experience! We didn't have a reservation, bit showed up around 7 and sat right away. It got so busy after that. Alexandra was funny, kind and patient as we sat for 3 hours, tables turned over around us several times. Enjoyed three delicious courses, a bottle of wine and amazing cocktails. We ordered escargot, I got the steak and my partner the lamb pasta, then we finished with creme brulee. Thank you, Alexandra, for incredible service and patience in our extended stay meal closing out the restaurant.

We didn’t have the chance to get a table for dinner at this restaurant as it was always booked, we finally went there for a lunch w/o live music to try the food at least. For appetizers we ordered cream of broccoli soup and calamari. Soup was smooth and very warm and calamari was crispy and tasty. For main plate, chicken basquaise was unbelievably delicious and well flavoured! And lamb burger was super juicy and also came with a huge portion of home made fries. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Wonderful experience in my first visit to Montreal. The staff was really nice and made great recommendations. I had the poutine with braised lamb and the ratatouille. Paired it with a nice resiling and the meal was incredible!

Great atmosphere! My personal favourites here were the lamb dishes which were executed extremly well. The braised lamb taglietelle was rich, but not heavy, and very flavourful with a hint of fruitiness from the orange zest. The other classic dishes like soup and duck confit were good as well, but not overly impressive

What an amazing atmosphere and the food was even better. A romantic comfortable setting with live jazz music couldn't ask for a better night here! The snails appetizer with cheese was delicious and of course couldn't resist the mussels and fries. The octopus linguine was something we've never tried before and would get again, the sauce was absolutely amazing. Our server was so kind, attentive and friendly. Service overall was great from the getgo. You will not regret coming here!
