Mont-Mégantic National Park

Vraiment une belle activité, je vous souhaite du beau temps, autrement ce sera de l’animation à l’intérieur. Assurez-vous d’être bien habillé.

Les activités à l'astrolob sont très enrichissantes. N'importe laquelle qui est disponible vaut amplement le coût, selon moi. Les employés sont férus de science et d'histoire de l'astronomie.

Bel endroit! La visite de l'astrolab et le film émergence sont très sympa. L'observatoire au sommet du Mont Mégantic semble hors du temps, c'est génial qu'on puisse le visiter alors qu'il est encore en activité. Les emplacements de camping à la Grande Ourse sont biens fait et intimistes. La rando des 3 sommets se fait très bien. Une fois la grande montée vers le Mont Saint Joseph passée le sentier est plus doux. Un peu dommage que les sommets soit accessibles aux voitures, cela enlève un peu de charme mais cela reste top pour les personnes les moins mobiles!

Crime que sais tellement beau.wow malgré que j'ai mal partout c'est l'expérience la plus belle de ma vie.le calme.le silence.la neige WOW à refaire

Un beau parc facile d'accès avec des aménagements bien entretenus. Pour le mont St Joseph, les efforts sont récompensés au sommet et il y a plusieurs points de vue tout au long de la randonnée. Apportez des collations, vous risquerez de croiser des petits oiseaux au refuge Pellerin:)

OMG mon plus beau SEPAQ à date, non seulement il mérite un 5 étoiles ce serait plus un 6 étoiles sur 5. Ce sont les pistes les mieux indiqué que j'ai vu à présent, en plus il y a des chalets où on peut aller manger au chaud et le sentier est incroyable. Nous avons pris le sentier pour aller a l'Observatoire, par contre les autres sentiers avait plus de points de vue mais on avait juste une journée il y a des toilettes sur les sentiers.une borne électrique.

If you don't from Montreal, it's a GREAT scenic drive to the destination. Wonderful view from the vantage points by either hiking or driving

Beautiful place. There is not alot of noise up there. I was speaking to my friend and I spoke so quietly because there is no need to speak louder because there is zero noise up there.

Superbe montée. Peut-être pas la meilleure vue de la mrc du granit. Notez que l'accès au site est payant.

Beautiful hike, well maintained. Fall colors made this hike even more amazing. There's also telephone service for those who can't live without LTE.

Great place to go hiking with the whole family. My youngest is 6 and did it without breaking a sweat. Beautiful scenery everywhere you look. You must buy your pass online but no waits at check in. Great friendly staff and trails are in great shape.

Magnifique parc. Accessible en randonnée ou en auto. Plusieurs sommets. Les deux principaux sont à voir, particulièrement à l'automne. Pas juste pour les astronomes. La vue est saisissante. Donc, le mont Mégantic pour ses deux observatoires et le mont Saint-Joseph pour son lieu de pèlerinage et sa vue sur le lac Mégantic. Nous y retournerons.

Very high moutain, rising at 1100 meters, providing an extraordinary view of the region (its neighbor the mount Gosford is only ~100m more and is the 3rd highest in the province, makes you wonder!).

The two observatories (scientific one and public one) are also available by car/moto if you are coming for the view only and not the hike. The trails are well-maintained and the difficulty level are between intermediate and difficult. The last km are quite uphill, but really worth it!

The astrolab, also located within the park, is definitely a must. What a visit! The guides are helpful, charming and make you feel intelligent by guiding you to really understand various astronomy concepts. Very knowledgeable and pedagogic, great exhibition also! The hiking was amazing, but the Astrolab was really our highlight!

Omg.it was really awesome. Clouds all around you.such a rainy day. Missed the hill top view as it was raining.

Très beau parc. Superbe vue et de beaux sentiers de randonnée. L'Astrolab est plus ou moins intéressant. On en fait le tour rapidememt et le film présenté actuellement est loin de l'espace et de l'astronomie. Pour le prix ça ne vaut pas la peine.

Magnifique sentier. Montée ardu à certain endroit mais tellement génial la vue au sommet ça vaut le coût.croyez moi.

2 nuits de camping en tente dans le secteur Franceville. Site bien aménagé. Quoique proches des autres campeurs, les gens sont généralement très respectueux. Bâtiment de service propre qui inclut l'accueil des visiteurs (renseignement, achat de bois.), toilettes avec douches et lavabos extérieur pour laver la vaisselle. Parc pour enfant magnifique et sentiers accessibles à pieds. Environ 30 minutes en voiture pour se rendre à l'astrolab et à l'observatoire.

Belle nature, beau sentier pédestre, les douches sont beaucoup trop chaude impossible de diminuer la chaleur, dangereux pour les enfants. Ça fait deux années de suite que je demande modification et pas de résultat

Nous avons bien aimé sejourner dans un refuge malgré que c'était très passant et certaines personnes venaient s'asseoir à côté de nos affaires.malgré tout belle rivière, bois inclus dans notre location, ameublement très propre et belles petites chambres. Nous avons été à l'observatoire en journée, nous avons aimé et sans oublier les sentiers bien aménagés. Merci!

Le sentier du Mont St Joseph nous offre suffisamment de défis et le point de vue final est extraordinaire.

Beaux sentiers. Possible plusieurs sentiers pour la famille et pour les personnes plus avancées. Convient à tous. Sentier bien indiqué. Toutefois, présence de milliers de moustiques sur le top du Mont Saint-Joseph, selon mon expérience.

Belle visite à l'astrolabe. 30 min pour le musée et un film de 30 min. Le tout animé par une astronome. Ensuite la montée en haut de la montagne pour voir l'observatoire. Peut-être qu'un jour on y retournera pour observer les étoiles.

On Victoria Day, we went to Secteur Franceville and nobody was present at the gate to check tickets (you can just drive in and start hiking). We have the yearly passes so that worked out. It was very clean (bathrooms, eating benches etc). All trails start from the same spot so you enter, park, start to walk and then break out into your trail options! Stunning lookouts. Well worth it. You can even see the observatory from this Secteur.

Quel endroit de rêve que ce soit pour les sentiers et bien sûr regarder les étoiles! Le meilleur endroit en Amérique du Nord pour les voir!

In winter, this place offers cabins only accessible with snow shoes. Wood stoves, wonderful spot to cozy up. During summer, you can hike to the same cabins, or camp nearby. Beautiful hiking trails.

Visited the parc during the winter in the Franceville Sector, spending the night in one of the EXP cabins and snowshoeing during the day.

Cabin was well appointed, and didn't have any issues that we noted with any feature or amenity. The wood stove burns a compact brick or log of what felt like sawdust - bit strange for someone used to building a more traditional fire in a stove, but once you get the hang of lighting the darn thing it kicks out quite a bit of heat.

Would recommend for people looking for a weekend getaway - I will certainly be returning for some star gazing (fingers crossed for clearer weather).

- friendly and knowledgeable staff

Un endroit vraiment beau en été comme en hiver! Les vues sont magnifiques, le parc est bien entretenu.

De beaux sentiers sans raquettes et peu de challenge dans l ascension ce qui laisse tout le loisir a votre corps de fusionner avec cette opulente nature blanche. Même a -20, c'est clairement un must de saison!

L'endroit était magnifique et propre. Tranquille même si il y avait beaucoup de monde! Les sentiers sont beaux et il y a moyen d'avoir des défis. Pour tout les sortes de grimpeurs!

Easter weekend at this place means you are still with one foot in the winter season of icy paths and one foot in the spring wet marshlands.

This did however have no negative impact on our experience renting the Jupiter cottage, equipped with ice spikes for $8 (kids get everything for free if an adult pays rental) and a map. The lady at the reception said the path may be too dangerous with icy conditions and it just made it more exciting!

The view was awesome from Franceville and we didn’t regret making it all the way to the top. Rain would have made it difficult to walk on icy snow so you absolutely need to rent ice spikes.

Biking was not an option since the bike path was still under one foot of snow. We spent the evening making fire outside the cottage and honestly the $200 all inclusive deal for one night was just perfect. You will be surprised what a great ambiance this place is no matter the weather. No wifi at the cottage nor Rogers cell phone connection was exactly what we needed to bond with the wilderness.

The store has some basic food and you really want to make sure to do some shopping before leaving the Highway 10 since the closest town with a food store (IGA) is half an hour away.

Perks: you really get to connect with nature with almost no tourists around you! We fell asleep at 9pm and no sound whatsoever until 8 am.

Improvements: Sepaq should share real time photos of the area when booking a cottage since some people would have found the icy hiking path too dangerous and been stuck in a cottage with nothing much to do. Unless you bring a book or board games to just relax it’s a long drive from Montreal to be bing watching Netflix on a tablet!

Recommendation: you may want to explore this area in the fall time to see the colours from the hike path and be able to do two hikes (7km on arrival and 11km on the next morning) before going home to Montreal or Sherbrooke.

Superbe endroit pour de la randonnée! Il y a un plusieurs sentiers a suivre. Les gens comme moi qui recherchent l'effort physique intense vont apprécié le sentier vers Mont St-Joseph. Il est abrupte sur une longue distance. Une fois au sommet, ont peut marcher le long de plusieurs sentiers et se rendre d'un somment à l'autre!

Les refuges sont propre et modernes et offrent un bel endroit pour casser la croûte ou pour passer la nuit.

Vraiment plus sauvage que je pensais. Beaux emplaçements de camping et bien aménagés. Les treks pour les sommets sont amusant.

Un des meilleurs parc de la région pour faire de la raquette l'hiver, surtout après une bonne tempête

Chalet echo à tout ce qu'il faut. Reste juste à apporter vos sleepings, oreillers, serviettes, produit personnelle (savon et shampoing) et votre bouffe.

Un excellent endroit pour y pratiquer la raquette l'hiver. On y va pour la randonnée aux flambeaux. Les sentiers sont magnifiques et de moyennes difficultés. Réserve nationale d'étoiles cest un excellent endroit pour s'intéresser à l'astronomie. Les sessions d'informations y sont plaisantes au centre d'accueil. Si vous réservez un chalet ou refuge en montagne il sont bien. Cependant le coût pour y faire monter les bagages est dispendieux. Autour de 20$ l'allée.

Très belle endroit, la visite le soir et intéressante. Mon seul point négatif est pour le camping quand on réserve on nous explique pas vraiment ou est le camping. Cela devrait être mieux expliquer car on doit se rendre dans la montagne avec notre équipement a pied.

This region of the Eastern Townships is awesome untouched by the tragic events of July 6,2013. A rail disaster that decimated the Town of Lac-Megantic and lives lost. Come and visit and support the region for it's natural beauty and splendor. If you're looking for a place to enjoy the beauty of nature. A great place to hike, mountain cycling in the summer or just a simple family recreation. It's peaceful and serene, a great place to meditate. Its pitch black at night because of the Mont Megantic Observatory. You won't see the stars if there is light pollution. This is the place to stargaze.

Great trails, beautiful forest. Its highest peak is a good climb foe those who start hiking. There is many refuges along the way to warm up. I went in snowshoes during winter with heavy backpack, to stay at refuges.

Nous nous sommes rendu au sommet du mont megantic en auto, très belle vue en peu d'effort, ce fut très agréable!

I wanted to expose my young grandchildren to the information in the Astrolab but was quite dismayed to find out it would cost 90 dollars for the 3 adults to go in with them. I'm still trying to find this expensive admission on the web site. I probably would not have gone if I had known. Also, they are just learning French so would miss a lot as the presentations are uni-lingual. It didn't seem worth the price.
By contrast, everything in Lac Megantic is bi-lingual. It was very nice to learn the history of this place.

Été comme hiver, c'est un bel endroit pour profiter de la nature. Les activités sont nombreuses. L'endroit est unique au Québec pour découvrir notre ciel et la recherche astronomique.
