Stunning! The pictures don’t do its justice. We went during summer and bought tickets prior to save yourself from standing in line. In the front gate they have bathrooms and little stands to by snacks and drinks. Be prepared to walk but absolutely a beautiful experience

It was my most favourite part of our August trip to Montreal. I would’ve stayed for an entire day if we didn’t have our baby with us.

Do make sure to leave a full day to enjoy it! I also noticed they have an evening light festival event (I think in fall) which looks breathtaking.

We enjoyed lunch at their outdoor patio after which offered a beautiful peaceful environment and lots of healthy options and generous portions.

Will make sure to revisit everytime I’m in town.

A lot of walking but the highlight was the Chinese Gardens. They need more restrooms and if you're mobility impacted like we are, much of the greenhouses and areas are very uneven ground wise.

It was a beautiful place, but we really wanted to experience the Japanese tea garden, but it was closed.

Don't confuse with the photograph. You are not going to find it. I tried almost an hour and then came to know about it.

Incontournable!

Beautiful botanical gardens with some amazing flora. The it chinese and Japanese themed gardens are beautiful and serene

This is no longer at the botanical gardens. It's been 10 years. It is very misleading to have this as an advertisement for the B. Gardens

One of the exquisite and pristine place to stroll around in Montreal. Though we could spend an entire day here, Chinese garden is the most attractive and favorite place for our family. During winter, they have light show in the garden. Day time entry will be free if you book it for light show. The staffs and their effort for the garden maintenance are highly appreciated.

Went for the lanterns event, was nice but they removed the moon cake/tea station in the chinese part for "covid" purposes which i find quite useless at that point but they did have a good veggie tostada at the end!

It' s really a beautiful place. My daughter enjoined quite a lot, and learning some things from nature beauty.

Highly suggest you visit these botanical gardens. The butterfly observatory was incredible. Whether you’re visiting Montreal or a local; if you haven’t been, this is a stunning botanical garden.

The overall experience was ok, the gardens were nice, but nothing spectacular. A lot of walking and one needs an entire day to see all of it. Also, you have to be interested it all the plants and reading a lot. They need to make it more interactive and provide guided tours of some sort. Also, it would be good to have a hop on hop off transport to limit the walking.
The food place inside serves only veg food, and it is also ok.
I missed the light show in the evening. May have made the experience better, don't know.
You can give it a miss, unless you are really into plants.

Be aware - all the plant sculpture photos you see online are from a 2013 competition and are NOT current. The botanical gardens consist of extensive greenhouses walking you through a variety of ecosystems, to outdoor classics such as Japanese and Chinese gardens, to “useful” plants and other specialty displays.

Great for a nice quiet walk. The Chinese Garden is a must, and quite the surprise the first time you experience it.

On a late winter's day, going to the Botanical Gardens was an excellent idea as a preview to the spring green we'll be soon seeing here in Montréal. There are 6 distinct areas from tropical rainforest to desert cacti, bonsai trees to orchids and ferns; some are from around the world, others cultivated at the gardens. Due to COVID-19, only 60 persons admitted at a reserved hour, however one can easily visit for 2 to 3 hours. Admission: 16.50$ adults 15.50$ seniors 65+

N. B.to foreigners: The impressive, amazing mosaics plant sculptures were there in the summer of 2013 only! This special event was an international contest and NOT a permanent exhibition! You won't see them!
Yet, the outdoor gardens are still worth visiting: As soon as the snow is melting in the spring, the Alpine garden is already flowering. Then, depending whether you're willing to see vegetables, fruits or ornamental flower gardens, there will always be something to see until Halloween!

Photos: A greenhouse where the bonsais sleep in the winter! Too cold for you! (Restricted area for employees only)

The greenhouses are big enough that it's worth the visit in any season! You'll find one with cactus, one with begonias, one one with bonsai one with ferns, one with orchids, one with tropical flowers and one with exotic fruits. It's lush and maintained using insects rather than pesticides as an effort to be more ecological. I heartily recommend a visit!

Indoor one is nice but outdoor is not for winters obviously remember one thing (for tourists) your gps will take you to the wrong side of the park so always go the proper parking area entrance otherwise you have to walk almost 1km to reach the indoor garden

Fabulous place to spend the day with the family, beautiful gardens, overall great experience, price tag to visit I find it a bid expensive but thats my opinion
11 January 2019 3:44

The best botanical Gardens I have ever visited. This place is huge and has more than something for everyone.

You will need a good day to see everything here, as the trails seem to go on endlessly.

I came here in Sept and the flower garden was still in colourful bloom. The greenhouses showcases lots of cacti and tropical plants.

Amongst other sections, forests, old trees, kitchen garden, there's also the first nations forest, rock, grass, zen garden and most fun and popular of all the Chinese gardens. It's so colourful and playful with every corner a great photo opportunity.

For the price it is well worth to spend an enjoyable day for all ages.

Great place to hang out! Not sure if it's the case all winter, but right now (end of December 2018), it's free to visit the outdoor gardens. Although a lot is covered up by snow, it's still a nice peaceful place to walk around, especially if you go on a weekday when it's less crowded. You might even get lucky and see a fox. For those with kids, there is a fun insect themed playground near the insectarium. My top three: First Nations Garden, Alpine Garden, and the area with all the trees.

Have a great variety of activities to enjoy in Montréal, you could expend all the afternoon there, they have a lights event than it's AWESOME, It's friendly with the family as long as you are alone, good experience and helpful staff

Is a beautiful place, unfortunately we visit in the fall. I'm sure is an amazing place to visit in the summer. Chines garden, bonsai garden or insectarium ar the most attractive at this time.

I loved this place but too big to see everything in one day! Especially if your GPS takes you to the Rosemont entrance! Free street parking there but I had to walk through the entire arboretum to get to the gardens. So be sure to go to the main entrance at 401 rue Sherbrooke Est. Those with more energy than me could also visit Olympic Park, just around the corner. Don't miss the new Chinese Gardens exhibit and the plants by the ponds in their natural habitats! Food was great at their restaurant also and provided a much needed break to sit and have a glass of wine with lunch!
