I am always hesitant to make online purchases from retailers that I am not familiar with. I decided to purchase a house full of light fixtures from out of province Montreal Lighting & Hardware since they offered the best pricing of all lighting retailers across Canada on identical items, and also openly offered a generous discount for new subscribers, and free shipping for orders > $200. The customer service provided by Maria (and her colleagues) was EXCELLENT in all transactions, and in all communication! There were absolutely NO language issues on the phone nor in email. A defective manufacturing issue with one item was resolved very promptly and professionally to my utmost satisfaction. Highly recommend Montreal Lighting! I will be placing more orders to complete our whole home lighting needs. The best experience!

Sadly disappointed in our experience with this store. Website does not state in the listing the light fixture is not sold by them, but a separate manufacturer, but no problem. As long as we receive the lights, that's fine.
One of two lights arrived after some time, without warning as our tracking number from Fedex still wasn't showing any information other than "no information found". The light was in a thin, unpadded box, no foam, no bubble wrap, just a plastic bag around the glass light fixture. Not only was that concerning for us, the extra items of nuts and bolts were loose in the same box. The box also had holes in the sides which is where I assumed two of our parts slipped out of as we were missing some. We had to purchase a small piece just to hang the light, as it was integral. I replied to my previous chat email with the store about these matters, providing images as well as I was concerned for when the second light would arrive. Thankfully only missing parts and not broken. I didn't hear back about my missing pieces or poorly packaged light and still missing second light. I forwarded my email to their help centre a few days later, hoping maybe my previous one got lost or the thread was closed on their end. This time I did get a response, but all they replied with was that they would ask the manufacturer about the missing piece and here is the new tracking number for light #2. Sounds good.
The new tracking number they sent however, indicated that they had already sent it a week prior, but it had been sitting at the depot in my city for a week, due to the package being damaged and undeliverable. They then sent said package back to the sender and refused to deliver it (which I am thankful for, I don't want another damaged box). At this point we are quite frustrated and just want our second fixture, so my husband called the store. He left a message with a sales attendant for the person who we had been dealing with and was promised she would call once she returned from lunch. He didn't receive a phone call but my guess is they looked up why we would be calling as I then received an email stating our package can't be delivered but they will send out another one *next week* (it was Monday, at this time, why wait another week?). Which of course, we already knew and was why we were calling. At this point it had been nearly 3 weeks since our order was placed. Which doesn't seem horribly long, but when we're provincial neighbours and your website claims delivery within 3-5 business days (I double checked and the item was not listed as "not in stock"), that is quite a bit more.
My husband tried calling again and after a few more tries he did get through and spoke with the person I had been emailing with. She acted as though she was unaware of the state of our first package when he brought it up and he told her I had sent photos and we still hadn't heard back about the missing pieces. She said we would need to fill out a form for their manufacturer. So we did, even though in my opinion and as someone who has worked in retail/customer service nearly their whole career, that should be up to the retailer who sold us this product to deal with THEIR manufacturer, not the customer. You sell these products under your banner and website, you should take responsibility for the quality and care *you* ultimately deliver, not to blame them for this mess.
Regardless, again all we wanted was the second light we were still waiting for. We were sent another new tracking number and another new light, only to see AGAIN that the carrier denied the package due to damage. At this point you can't claim that is due to the carrier, these are being sent already very poorly packaged, to the extent that they refuse to deliver it to my door. This led us to ask for a refund as it was clear we were not getting our light in any good condition and needed to move on. Partial refund was sent and done with. Overall communication was poor and we had to chase down any information and ask for every step to be taken towards this end result.

One of the light I bought miss a part, Maria answer my email enquiry within 24 hours, just need to fill out a simple form and I get the part I need from manufacturer directly. If I need another light in the future, I will definitely buy from them again.

Typically, there are 3 measures when deciding on buying from a particular business - Product quality/variety, price & after sales support. Montreal Luminaire & Salvatore scored high on all 3 measures. It took us several years to decide on a particular product. The light we finally chose, the Cerno Levis pendant, is hand made & delicate by design. The style was exactly what we were looking for & Montreal Luminaire had a streamlined online purchasing process. Unfortunately, we had 2 damaged pendants. And this is where Salvatore & the team at Montreal Luminaire shone. They contacted Cerno & coordinated the delivery of the replacements.
While the entire process from purchase to install took about 3 months, the result was well worth it (see photo). Would I buy from Montreal Luminaire again, yes. Will they be there there after your purchase, yes.

We had many lights and pendant to buy for our new built house. Always had good service! It hapenned twice that there was a defect because of the manifacturer and both times we had fast after sale service and a good resolution for the problems we had. Salvatore gave us stellar service and always replied ours emails withing the hours. I recommend!

J'ai acheté 2 luminaires en avril. Au mois au de mai toujours en attente du suivi de la commande je leur écris pour savoir ce qu'il se passe. En fait, ils vendent des luminaires qu'ils n'ont pas en stock. Malgré qu'ils ne soient pas capable d'honorer les commandes existantes, le produit était toujours disponible pour commander sur leur site internet suivant mon courriel de suivi du mois de mai. Pratique extremement douteuse, on empoche notre argent rapidement sans suivi de la commande et nous laisse attendre. Avoir été averti dès l'achat que les délais étaient plus grands que ceux ecrit sur leur site internet (7 a 10 jours ouvrables) ou que les luminaires n'étaient pas disponible en réalité, je les aurais acheté ailleurs.

Dernière nouvelle: les luminaires sont arrivé au port depuis le 27 juin mais aucun retour depuis. Rien n'indique que je recevrai ma commande bientot ce qui laisse penser à des pratique frauduleuse.

Attention, la marchandise reçue n'était pas conforme à notre commande en ligne et on a refusé de nous rembourser le plein montant. Après la menace d'une mise en demeure, le représentant nous as ensuite ghosté et nous avons dû nous déplacé en magasin. On accepte finalement de nous faire un crédit (ce n'était pas notre premier choix) mais ensuite le service à été médiocre et nous avons attendus plusieurs semaines/mois pour recevoir notre commande. Seul point positif: la livraison. Mais pourquoi encourager ce genre de pratique? Il y a tellement d'autres magasins où le service est meilleur.

Unfortunately I don't have the pleasure of shopping here in person, as I live in the Northwest Territories. But I can absolutely attest to the wonderful customer service that I received online. I ordered a light from this store at the end of Dec 2022 and was given no indication it wasn’t in stock. After several follow ups on my part, it continued to get delayed until March 2023. When I was finally told it shipped, it sat in the vendor’s warehouse for weeks. While they were very responsive, there was never any proactive reach out from Montreal Lighting Co.and I had to chase this item down many, many times. I realize this was in some part a vendor challenge, but I would not order anything from this retailer again unless I knew they had it in hand – painful experience to say the least.

Their refund policy is below industry standard. You have 14 days (not 15) and there is a restocking fee. Plus don’t bother showing up to return your item, you had to do it online.
Shop on their website and buy the same item elsewhere, somewhere with a good refund policy.

I wanted to buy from a shop in Montreal, brick and mortar but don’t bother, buy anywhere you’ll be better off.

Lost 25% of my small purchase for an unopened lamp that I wanted I smaller model. No exchange, no credit.

I’ll be buying the same elsewhere now.

Do not buy from them online unless you have seen the item in person and you are very sure that the item you are ordering is right for you. Otherwise you will lose 25% of the purchase price and the shipping fee for return.

We purchased a high end pendant light online last year but did not install it until our renovation was recently completed. Unfortunately one of the lamp receptacles was faulty and could not be fixed. When I contacted Montreal lighting by email, I was met with a prompt response and ongoing communication until the problem was solved. In fact we received a replacement light within a couple of days, even before I received a postpaid shipping label to return the old light. Salvatore was the customer service rep I dealt with. I cannot recall EVER having such hasslefree, exceptional customer service and will most certainly recomend your store.

Excellent customer service. We had an issue with the finish quality on a pendant light we selected and Salvatore went above and beyond - responded right away, provided options and didn't stop until we were completely satisfied. We will definitely shop with Montreal lighting again thanks to Salvatore and the team there.
