Neotokyo

I ordered the Neotokyo Mazesoba, priced at $20. Slightly on the pricier side for ramen.

What’s great:
The atmosphere - transports you into a futuristic cyberpunk space
The portion of food - I was so full by the end
The taste - it had all the flavours to expect from a Mazesoba (I’m pleasantly surprised)

What’s not:
Wait times - I waited 45 minutes for a table and 30 minutes for the food.

Is it worth a try? Yeah, depending on if you have time to wait

You need to check this ramen place. Ambient is very unique and the drinks are very good. The Mazesoba Neotokyo extra is my favorite so far on the menu.

Nice decor and very instagrammable space but the place is way overhyped. The noodles were wayyy overcooked: leaving the noodles to cook in the boiling water from 10 to 15mn is too much for ramen. The choice of soups was small and the toppings were not that great. The crispy chiken was very good tho. I will probably not go back.

Les ramens sont excellents, la déco est sympa, mais, oui il y a un mais, la musique est trop forte pour un restau ainsi que l'isolation phonique de plus l'attente est vraiment très longue 1 hr avant d'avoir une table et 40 minutes pour être servi.

Our waiter here was pretty much the highlight. I really enjoyed the Natsu drink, the spicy chicken and smashed cucumber was great but was a little disappointed in the ground meat on the tan tan and a little pricy for some of the lack of flavouring. Cool 1 time experience though.

Food is average, not a lot of choices on the menu and the wait time is long. But the vibe is awesome

Misled us about being able to seat our group of 6 when we called 10 minutes before getting there so we had to order the food to go, they had no issues sitting groups that showed up right after us however. Food was OK, nothing special.

Une des meilleures places de montreal! Jy suis allé avec ma copine et nous avons voyagé grace a ce restaurant. L'ambiance avec la deco est juste parfaite, la qualité de la nourriture est impressionante et les prix adaptés a la qualité servie. Un service tres agreable et professionnel. Je recommande ce restaurant a toute personne desirant voyager dans l univers Blade runners le temps d'un soir. Je reviendrai!

Arrivé un samedi soir a 22h et nous faire dire que 4 repas est enlevé dans le menu qui est déjà très petit. Tout cela pour un manque de staff et que tu voit très bien qu'il sont 6 a se tourner les pouces et qu'il veulent juste fermer le restaurant. Ça doit etre cela quand tu devient trop populaire. Vive le insta fame!

Really not worth the hype.

Sure the place looks cool and they have some projectors and some Bladerunner vibe, apart from that there's nothing redeeming about it at all.

The wait time when we arrived was 40 mins, we came back an hour later as we still hadn't been called just to find people who were behind us had been sat before us, amazing management from the hostess.

Secondly it took 40 mins to get 3 bowls of ramen and an order of dumplings. 40 mins? The people beside us arrived after us, ordered after us and received their food before us.

Food is ok but seriously the Ramen is no better than Sansotei, Kinton or anywhere else. There is nothing special or redeeming about it.

If you want to wait 2 hours to eat Ramen in a wannabe trendy spot, go for it, if you'd rather just eat good Ramen in a quick fashion go literally anywhere else.

I don’t usually write reviews but the staff there are so rude. We waited 20 mins to get told they don’t accept cash.

Première fois et assez déçu de l'organisation. Nous étions 4 personnes et nous avons attendu 1h pour avoir une table alors que les groupes de 2 passaient avant nous alors que les tables sont modulables. De plus, l'attitude des employés n'était pas très invitante surtout la "gérante ". Peu de sourire, pas de mise à jour des délais.la politique de non réservation devrait être revue.

Music avant-gardiste… les ramens Sont vraiment très bonne …. Toute fois je m’attendais à une déco plus futuriste. Sinon rien a dire c’est un coup de cœur

Superbe décor, service excellent, mais attente démesurément longue qui teinte toute l'expérience. À trois reprises on a donné un estimé de 30 minutes, au final, notre attente aura duré 1h15! (Avec un bon 30 minutes d'attente dehors) Il serait beaucoup plus respectueux pour la clientèle d'instaurer, comme tous les bons restaurants de la ville, un système de réservation. Nous étions nombreux à être exaspérés en ligne. Dommage.

Was waiting for the opening for months with my boyfriend. Finally went for date night recently and very disappointing experience overall.

Decor is great. But the novelty wears off pretty quickly if food and service are both well below average.

We order two drinks and they didn’t arrive till well after we got our ramen.

The spicy karage was cold and overly sweet. The cucumber salad was amazing though.

The ramen, was by far the worse I’ve had. The soup tasted very fishy and was lukewarm.

We also felt very rushed that ramens came a few minutes after the appetizers.

Overall experience, very disappointing.

Excellent resto japonais. Menu simple mais de qualité. Et quel service par Meriem. Bref, je le recommande.
Note: Il y a bcp de monde dans le resto. Avoir des réservations ou arriver un peu plus tôt ou un peu plus tard!

The food is so delicious! I definitely recommend the crème de bacon. The staff is friendly, and give great recommendations. The decor and vibe is lovely which makes the whole experience even better. Will definitely be coming back.

The food is delicious, especially the takoyakis and the tonkatsu soup.i tried the takoyakis, the tonkatsu soup, the pork gyozas, the cucumber salad and the fried chicken, and everything was fire.the staff is very friendly/charismatic and obviously the over all atmosphere is like no other place in montreal.plus the prices are really fair.must try

Great decor, fast and attentive service.

Food was kinda mid for the price, typical of a trendy place. Spicy karage cooked well but reminiscent of sriracha, tonkotsu with chicken didn’t play well. I did really like the chasu though, tender and slightly sweet.

I would probably go just for drinks next time and save the ramen cravings for elsewhere.

Neo Tokyo is a great idea, with terrible execution. The concept, while inspired by the Blade Runner art design and decor, would have gone broke if it existed within that, not too distant future. Here's to hoping it can manage to correct the path to forgetfulness it's currently on.

Neo Tokyo sells itself as a ramen noodle bar, but doesn't understand the concept of ramen. It took 1.5hrs for us to get our food. 45mins to get our drinks, and we had to return the chicken karage due to the over abundance of salt they seem to love in all their dishes. While there are some tasty accents to the food, most of it is over salted, without much thought put into the menu- which is evident in the long wait times for anything ordered.

Ramen, is a fast food. A wonderfully delicious one plate meal that anywhere, aside from Neo Tokyo would take maximum 30mins to get to you. It's a poor man's meal in Japan. Warm, comforting, fast, and a dish that any kitchen in Montreal, should be able to handle. It is unfortunate that for such a great setting, the kitchen is unable to serve in a timely fashion, the few dishes touted on their menu.

Because of the analog wait times for the food, the best you can do is drink water- if you want more drinks while you wait, you'll do just that, wait longer for a 2nd round of drinks. So because of the assault on your patience, and hunger, and the fact you have one option, and that is to drink water, you have to make use of the facilities.

Typically I wound't comment on the facilities, but because of how bloated you become from drinking (water) and waiting, you have to go- and due to everyone else in the joint waiting, you end up lining up for the two stalls available, right outside the kitchen. While you wait, you can be treated to the slop bucket that sits right next to the cart where the dirty dishes are dropped off- and while you're at it, you can notice the failed electronic system of table top buzzers that were maybe part of the concept. Again, exacerbating the reality that this place was rushed to open without real thought or concern in understanding what a real ramen bar should be.

The staff are trying, but there's only so much you can do with the lack of thought and attention to detail that such a cool concept should've come with- not to mention, the patience and dedication that real ramen joints around the world take the time to develop in order to match the greatness of the simplest noodle bar in Japan.

As another reviewer mentioned, if you're looking and hoping for real ramen, you're better off going to Ichi-Go Ichie- at least for the time being. Don't waste your time (firstly), or hard earned cash on this, once again, rushed concept of a cash grab, that could've been great.

Place looks amazing but honestly, food (Mazemens & Ramens) lacks immense taste like many reviews says. It was very disappointing.

Only visiting Montreal for the weekend and stopped here for the night since it was so close to our hotel and honestly it was the best ramen I’ve ever had. Being from the Boston area I’ve been around a few places but the broth here was on a different level. Super creamy and although their spicy topping wasn’t spicy at all it added a lot of flavor to the broth. The spicy karaage was also really good and the takoyaki with the homemade sauce was the best I’ve ever had. 11/10 I would drive back up just for this food. Props to the chef and our waitress Mary. Wait times were long for a good reason I just wish it wasn’t as cold outside when we were standing around

Le design de l’endroit est vraiment unique, ils ont bien réussi à intégrer le style cyberpunk au bar ramen. Belle ambiance et service chaleureux:) toutefois, dû à son cachet, l’endroit est très prisé et il est bondé de monde. Il faut donc s’attendre à patienter un moment avant d’avoir une table. Le menu est assez restreint, mais la bière au matcha m’a agréablement surprise et le poulet frit épicé était bon! Le ramen végé pourrait être plus relevé, mais celui à la viande était goûteux selon mon copain. À essayer pour l’expérience hors du commun!
