Absolutely worth the hype, the dan dan noodles were perfect and the service friendly and efficient.

L'accueil était sympathique, le lieu atypique.
On vient pour des nouilles, elles sont de qualités, fraîchement préparées. Manque de choix dans les garniture mais on est servi rapidement et c'est très goutu, avec un bon rapport qualité-quantité-prix.

One of my favorite places in Montreal. Delicious noodle soups. You can watch them make the hand pulled noodles from outside. If you can, try the tendon soup on weekends. It can take a bit to get in, there's often a line, but it's worth it.

Went here a few years ago and never left a review; the noodles were amazing and you can watch them make them. I am planning to go to Montreal soon just to have them again. Highly recommend. Very small restaurant and busy so be prepared to wait.

The noodles are excellent, I recommend the Braised Beef Noodles although they only have them available Friday and the weekend. The Dan Dan Noodles are very good too.

The staff isn't very chatty, which means you don't have to socialise while you eat.

It's a very rare thing, to find a restaurant that follows recipes that feel so traditional. It feels like a Chinese grandmother served you food.

Noodle is good. Service is good. But I won’t come again because there are always stupid YouTubers filming the cooks and clients. It’s impossible to enjoy your meal when someone is holding a camera against you.

Delicious noodle bowls! We walked by here the night previous, and there was a huge line. Going by a little earlier (just before 5) there was lots of space for us. We decided to both try the medium of the classic beef dish.

You get to choose your noodle thickness and style- we went with #4 and #6. Mine was the 4 and it was perfect.

We only got the medium and the bowls were huge! I can't imagine what the large looks like. I am a big eater, and after eating half decided to take the rest home. It was perfect leftovers for lunch, and just as delicious.

The only downside to this place was the washrooms. It's a dine in place, but the washrooms are in a mall, up an escalator, and absolutely disgusting.

This is my first time eating noodles inside the restaurant, and I am not pleased with their conduct. After I finished the noodles, I paid for it without tip since that was one of the options on the payment machine.

Surprisingly, they forced me to pay the tip, and without any word, they made me pay 20% tip. This is not nice!

The hand pulled noodles are the exact texture that you'd hope for. The dan dan noodles are flavorful and they are generous with the bok choy. Fast service. Would recommend to anyone!

Best Noodle shop in Montreal, the staff is direct and quick. The noodles are crisp and the broth is full of flavours.

Amazing beef noodle soup. We are from Vancouver and we’re craving something authentic and Asian. This satisfied all cravings! The noodles were fresh, the broth was legit and the components were amazing.

Great news, they have expanded the restaurant a bit to the left so there’s more room now and the place looks lovely with the renovations.

The cucumber salad is amazing as always and the usual special beef soup is my definite go-to. Will try the Dan-Dan next though. ;)

Had the Dan Dan noodles - very delicious. Atmosphere was lacking, we were sat next to a frequently used side entrance and storage area.

The classic beef soup noodles were excellent. Portion size was huge, I was not even able to finish even though I ordered a medium. Their attention to detail regarding noodle width and consistency was great. Combos included a side dish, which was also a decent portion. Overall good service, fair pricing, and peaceful eating environment, would come again.

De passage en vacances sur Montréal, nous avons décidé de vagabonder dans le quartier chinois… et nous avons été attiré par les senteurs aux arômes délicieux tandis que nous passions à côté de cet établissement…
Nous nous sommes fiés à notre odorat et sommes donc retournés pour prendre notre déjeuner…
Ce sont tout bonnement les meilleures nouilles que je n’ai jamais eu l’occasion de déguster … vraiment incroyable!
Bravo au chef qui n’a aucunement volé ses distinctions de Tripadvisor!

We ordered noodles to go and we tried beef option and Egg option (both small portions)
Small portions are huge. I cannot even imagine the large size portions! Lol
They cooked it really fast.

Soup was flavourful, spice was more aromatic than heaty, and the noodles (#5 thickness) had a great texture to start. Large is absolutely massive, and in hindsight, #4 noodle thickness would have been a better choice to not soak up as much of the soup. Limited seating about the only regrettable thing. Definitely give this place a try!

Très bon qualité prix. Ça vaut vraiment la peine car on fait les pâtes maison et on les voit faire.

Tried their beef noodle soup and dried noodles with minced pork.both dishes came wit very huge portions and very reasonably priced.we asked for their handmade thick noodles and it tasted delicious.i was expecting it more like a traditional dish from taiwan, but the dish simply lacked flavour and i didn’t like the addition of peas.the flavour of the broth was fine and the meat was cooked pretty nicely.would come back to try other items on the menu.

Awesome food! Its not too spicy but you could probably ask for more spice anyway. Huge portions for a good price!

This was my 5th visit in 2 years at Nouilles de Lan Zhou and it remains one of the best of its kind in Montreal. Pretty much everything here is done well. My go to dish has been the classic Lanzhou beef noodles, but with time, several other dishes have been as equally satisfying, namely the Zhajiang Mian and the Dandan Noodles. My only regret is that I have never been able to finish a large bowl (try the small or medium one if you are not a big eater). Those in the know have long praised this place and it is generally crowded - All I can say is that I can see why.

Nous avons goûté des soupes et plats de nouilles, et tout était absolument délicieux. Les nouilles maison étirées à la main avec adresse par le chef (on peut le voir faire dans la vitrine!), préparées à la dernière minute, les savoureux bouillons, les assaisonnements, tout était fabuleux, une belle découverte. En plus, le service est rapide et les prix, très raisonnables. À découvrir!

HANDS DOWN BEST CHINESE NOODLES
I’m a little bit bias because I had my first Chinese noodle soup here and was absolutely blown away. I’ve never had this type of flavour enter my mouth before and everyone I’ve brought to this location couldn’t agree less.

With that said, be ready to wait in line because they have limited space but ALOT of customers. Personally, the wait has always been worth it.

Small place but always full and busy. Noodles are freshly handmade. Soup and every others dishes are delicious and very tasty.

Probably my favorite restaurant in Montreal, I go there all the time, the Dandan noodles are fabulous.

Veggie soup was lacklustre when I went. Mostly broccoli, 2 mushrooms, a couple carrots. Would prefer more variety. Service was good.

Voici les HUGE soupes-repas que j'ai découvert au restaurant Nouilles de Lan Zhou. Je n'ai pas terminé ma soupe tellement que c’est ÉNORME, mais c’est bon. Je me suis dis que j'vais y retourner en automne/hiver pour réchauffer mon corps. Il y avait aussi une file d’attente quand j'y suis arrivé, alors prévoyez attendre aussi avant de manger. Sinon, c’est un petit restaurant d’à peine 15 places pour manger (c’est vraiment petit) où tu peux aussi faire l’épicerie, parce qu’il y en a aussi dans le sous-sol. Bonne découverte! P. S. Delicious noodles and soup. I would definitely come back for more. The handmade pulled noodles where cooked perfectly and is chewy. The soup was flavourful. It was very addictive and I couldn't stop eating it until I finished the bowl.

Very unfriendly service, was not going to tip but still tip a little. Even that the waiter requested for more tip afterwards. Ridiculous.
Food was okay, not too good, not too bad.
But base on the attitude, will not go again.

The waiter is very very RUDE, the service was bad, he has no manners, after I paid, he didn't think I give enough tip and ask me to give more, and even try to teach me a lesson of why I should give him more tip.
Food is very normal, and the service is the WORST EVER. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE.if you are the owner of the place, just FIRE the waiter first.

Small but decent noodle spot.
The dining room is very limited, so on a busy day you might end up waiting close to 20 to 30 mins for a table.
The beef noodle soup is very good. It has a rich beef flavor and it's not too salty. The mixture of cilantro and chilli oil really bring out the beefy flavor.
The portion size for the price is good. I thought a medium would not be enough. But the size would be a large at any other noodle spot.

Had a horrible experience with the staffs there. Staffs are extremely rude and inconsiderate. So this is what happened. Travelled from Toronto to Montreal and noticed store opens at 11 but we arrived early (10: 30am) with my pregnant wife. There were 4-5 staffs at the store preparing things and we were told that it opens at 11, they also advised us to keep walking around until then. The supermarket downstairs had a slippery floor because they just mobbed it. I decided not to bring my wife downstairs and walked to the shopping center beside it, unfortunately there was a homeless male with mental illness who walked into the plaza and kept screaming and swinging his arms. I was concept about my wife's safety so I avoided to walk inside the plaza and we were forced to walk outside in a freezing cold weather. Until 10: 45, my wife told me that she is way too cold and suggested to walk up to the store again and asked if we can sit down and have a cup of tea, politely.

Surprisinyly, the staffs there told us that we are not allowed to sit down until it opens, reason given is because other customers may see us and believe that they are already opened outside of business hours. I understand that each store has its own policy and rules. However, I also believe that there should be exception according to different situations. Clearly we looked extremely cold and desperate to sit-down in a warm place, especially my wife is already 8 months pregnant. But these rude, cold-blooded staffs refused to give us a warm place to sit for 15 mins and told us to keep walking. Of course, we are not here for beg for food and we ended up going to another noodle restaurant across the road. With this kind of experience? I will certainly not return to this place and also share my experience to the people around me. That includes all my friends and families in Toronto. Shame on you Lan Zhou noodle!

Excellent stop for handmade noodles. Limited seating, you'll be fine if you're solo or party of two, groups of three or four may be tough. Staff was excellent and patiently helped us with whaw to order. Noodles were great. FYI no bathroom close by.

Thought it was a great place that reminded me of Dan Dan Noodles I had at Peaceful Chinese in Vancouver. All the elements of the Dan Dan Noodles my partner and I had were prepared extremely well. The noodles had a wonderful texture, the baby bok choy was steamed perfectly and the sauce had an awesome balance of flavors. I would highly recommend and be coming back again.

It was nice! I love how they allow us to see how they make the fresh noodles. Not too expensive either, a 10$ will be enough to buy you a small bowl which has the size of a medium. I was a bit confuse when choosing the noodles, so I mess up a bit, but no regrets.
The noodles were thick and juicy, we could taste the soup's flavor. The meat was good as well, they give you a good amount of it, and the soup (I chose spicy) wasn't too spicy. It allowed me to taste each ingredient that was in the bowl.
Really nice, will come again to try more.

Everytime i visit Montreal I make a trip here. Sometimes more than once per trip. There noodles are really good. It taste very homemade. The portions are really big. I usually get the medium and it fills me right up.you can also select the thickness of the noodles which is great because some like it with more girth. The spicyness is spot on.

Only thing I didn't like was that the wait can get a bit long and when it's summer, it can really hot in there.

Everytime I passed by this place there was always a lineup. It piqued my interest, but I was never patient enough to wait. Finally gave it a try because it had a minimal wait. Not many tables in this place and you will most likely be cramped or you will need to share a table. Minor inconveniences for some of the most delicious noodles in beef broth.

The size of the bowl is quite large and I was unable to finish it, but I got to take it home and love it again for a second meal.

Well worth the wait and the next time I'll just wait in line.

Their famous hand made noodles are worth the hype. Their soups are beyond delicious. I tried one of their non soup plates called dan dan, basically beef and noodles but 100 times more delicious than any noodle dish I've ever had. The spices are so perfect. I want to make it one day so I have to go back and try it until I get the spices right.

I just wish they had more seating. Order the small or medium. We ordered medium and had two containers of leftover to go. Very generous portions that can be easily shared.

I waited 40 minutes in line and was not worth the wait. The soup was so salty and not a good taste at all. I asked for soy sauce and waiter brought me vinegar. They have no soy sauce. I asked for Sriracha and they brought me cilantro! Lol I can’t believe they got no Sriracha or soy sauce? Lastly, the place is so small and no bathroom conveniently located.

Nudo across the street is the best! It’s more reserved so people think they’re not good but it’s the best place I ever tried and they have soy and sriracha:)

The waiter was so rude and defiant and even want to "teach" his client to "be polite" even if he was not able to do so. I was waiting for 10 minutes and no one even speak to me, and when the waiter came he just ignored me turn to the next client, he told me that I should wait in the "right place" however I was the FIRST ARRIVAL AND NO ONE TOLD ME ONE WORD ON THE PLACE I SHOULD STAY. What is more, after splashing water on my hand his first reflection was not to say sorry but to say he was touched by someone else. I was so angry would definitively not return.

By the way the restaurant NODU is better in all aspects.

Got the simplest thing (dan dan noodles?) on the menu and it was DE. LI. CIOUS. Just noodles and beef but there's something magical in the broth that makes it extremely tasty. Added a tiiiny bit of hot sauce (it's quite hot if you're sensitive like me) and mmmm. A medium is huge but it was chilly out and I quickly finished the whole thing. So glad to stumble into this place. It's super busy (so you know it's good) but it didn't take long for my bf and I to find a seat and be served. Definitely have a taste!

This place started not long ago with a few tables and a bit to the very cheap side of foods. Today if has gained a reputation of Good food amongst the young local community. The Menu is not extensive, neither the number of seats crammed against each other, but judging be the extensive queues at the door of customers waiting to get in. I had their special Nouilles DanDan beef. Wow I was impressed. Bursting with flavours. They are fast, efficient, and not embarrassed to remind you to leave a generous tip. I guess worth their hard work, not so much service to table.

Very good soup. The portions are generous and well priced. Choosing the type of noodle you want is a nice option and you'll probably be able to see them being made right for your order. Chances are you will be seated at the first available spot which might be with someone who is already there.

What a fantastic noodle shop! Love that you can watch them making the noodles for each order. Broth was rich and flavourful. Noodles were firm and delicious.
