Om Tibetan Restaurant

Le propriétaire prend le temps de nous accueillir et nous expliquer tous les plats. Nous avons opté pour des momos au boeuf parfaits à partager, la soupe Then Thuk savoureuse et vraiment réconfortante, le Sha-Kat-Sta au boeuf vraiment bien assaisonné. Nous avons aussi commandé 2 thés au beurre, une spécialité à essayer. Le service est courtois et rapide, nous avons très bien mangé, en bonne quantité et pour un rapport qualite/quantite/prix vraiment plus que raisonnable!

Une super expérience! Nous sommes venus un peu tard et le service a été impeccable et d'une extrême gentillesse. La cuisine est très bonne et les suggestions aussi. Recommandé à 100 %

Wow wow what an amazing restaurant, can’t have enough of the delicious, authentic food slurp slurp. Butter chicken, lentil soup and chaw mein noodles are must must must try.

This is one of the best Tibetan restaurants I have ever visited in Canada. It reminds me of home.

Very poor quality food, stale beer on tap. I did not finish my food as I found it to be not appealing in presentation, quality and flavour. Great location, friendly enough service.but. I recommend that you save your money and go somewhere else.

We went to this restaurant since my mom (one of the birthdays) was recommended this restaurant and we love trying food so we figured why not.
The staff consisted of a really nice older gentleman, a brunette and blonde waitress.

The first issue: We first dropped off my mother and grandmother (who had a clear tag of low visibility/blindness on her) had an issue with the seating. They had wanted to place us (made a reservation for 5) on a 4 seater table with a chair on the edge glued to the wall. It was explained to them that we would need extra space as we are 5 and with someone with low visibility, therefore requiring extra space. The blonde waitress, said that they had a reservation for a big party coming in after us and couldn't give us the bigger table (which would have fit 5 people comfortably, not glued to the wall) ; however the brunette waitress checked and said there were no other reservations so we were able to get the big table; great.

Once we were seated, the elder gentleman came over to explain to us briefly the menu and asked what we'd want for appetizers (we ordered each momo except the shrimp) to try & then he said he would go prepare them.

Waited another 20 mins since it seemed that our waitress (blonde) didn't want to help us but came and took our order. I want to make note that she did not check on us once during the whole service to ask if the food was good or if we needed anything else; instead her amazing colleagues did.

Food:
Momos: were all very good, personally I wasn't a fan of the cheese one since it was sweet but still very good

Churu Soup- probably the most underwhelming experience, the blue cheese was there and lamb but it was completely unseasoned no matter how much I mixed it. I then decided to drink from the bowl directly to notice towards the end that all the spices were at the bottom but not mixed into the soup

Sha-Kat-Sta- the best and most flavourful dish out of the whole evening, would recommend

Vegetarian Curry- flavour was very bland & we asked for spicy but was given mild, the brunette waitress was kind enough to get us extra hot chili to mix into it.

Timo- very interesting texture and flavour, tastes really good when you dip into the curries, would recommend

Naan- so a lot of reviews on Google and yelp said that it was Costco brand naan, however we checked it and can tell that it was home made, a bit too charred but good

Steamed rice - opt out if you can, very inconsistent with the two bowls that we've received

Chow mein: the birthday girl was really disappointed. My dad made sure to ask for extra crispy noodles, however as you can see in the pictures, not a single crispy noodle in sight. We told my mom we can ask to send back to the kitchen to have it fixed, however it was nearly impossible to even get our waitress attention (the blonde one) to do that so we just ate it.

There are a few event dishes to try, but the service is not worth it as a sit down experience, which is disappointing considering you have the Spanish Club, Sabor Latino and Darlings surrounding that area.

To the waitress, I've done food service before as mentioned in a few of my other reviews, but you definitely need to smile more and put more effort, we all are going through it but please don't let it reflect in your job to future clients.

Our first time in a tibetan restaurant and we really liked it! People were really nice and the restaurant were opening late.plus there were plenty of vegan/vegetarian options, i recommend you to order the sweet puri and the mango lassi if you can!

I usually don’t leave one star reviews but I truly feel like my experience at this restaurant deserves one. My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant about 1.5 hours before closing on a Saturday night. We were worried the restaurant would be busy given its location, but when we arrived there was a group of 4 paying their bill, and a big group on the patio drinking. When we stepped into the restaurant we were greeted by the owner and decided to sit on the patio. The owner gave us our menus and water and said he would be right back for our orders. We reviewed the menu and chatted amongst ourselves until we finally realized we had been waiting for over 30 minutes… We went inside and as soon as the owner saw us he said he forgot about us and apologized. We ordered to-go and he recommended us some off the menu items. He told us to sit back outside and he will give us some of the order because the momos would take another 15 to make. When we finished what was served, he came out again and we asked for the bill, then the female waiter came out with the bill.

I found it odd that the female waiter came out instead of the owner who we had dealt with the whole time. Also considering the restaurant was close to empty when we were served. The owner did not comp any dishes we ordered nor did he comp the additional items he recommended us to order that was off menu.

Food: the momos were very small and mediocre. The Sha-Kat-Sa wasn’t well seasoned, the owner had also said he would give us hot sauce on the side but he didn’t give us any. The soup, the side breads, and empanadas were good.

Overall, not a good experience at all. The time and money we spent here was not worth the quality of food we received.

Service impeccable, toute la nourriture était excellente. Le prix est extrêmement raisonnable, on a super bien mangé! Wow!

Food and service were absolutely amazing! Make sure to order some momos and the steamed bread.

I think we we chose a wrong day to visit the restaurant. Everything we ordered had so much turmeric and chilli, we could hardly taste anything else.

I really enjoyed it when I was in Montreal in 2015. It was funny because the Tibetan owner greeted me, thinking I was her nephew.

My partner and I stumbled upon OM restaurant, and we are so glad we did. We had the pleasure of being served by the owner himself, who provided us with exceptional service. It was evident that he had a deep understanding of the flavors that complemented the menu. His welcoming demeanor added to the overall enjoyment of our experience.

I ordered the Sha-Kat-Sta, and my partner had the Lamb curry. Both dishes were bursting with flavor and absolutely delicious. I must highly recommend trying the Timo bread with your curry. It is a wonderfully fluffy steamed bread that may be better than naan in my opinion.

Also, a big thanks to the kitchen staff in creating such delicious meals.

Overall, our visit to OM restaurant was a awesome experience, The friendly service and incredible flavors made it a memorable dining experience. We will definitely be returning and recommending this restaurant to friends and family!

The lentil soup is the best I ever tasted. The chicken curry is out of this world. This is, by far the best food in Montreal.

Chicken momos are a delight. They are fresh and you can ask them to pan fry them. They are crunchy and juicy.

Good food and great service. The host (maybe the manager or owner) was very welcoming and suggested food to try in Montreal as we are not from here. Ordered momos, got complementary soup which were good!

Nourriture était excellente! La soupe repas tibétaine était incroyable. Le service était personnalisé et très bon. Je recommande sans hésiter.
