Pâtisserie Au Kouign Amann

I've been loving this place for at least 7 years but just realised I didn't review it. Best kouign amann, cheese croissant and roulé ever.

First come walking into this place and it is so bright and dainty. Truthfully I didn’t order their specialty menu item. I went in for an Americano and a fresh Croissant. The croissant was flaky and just the right amount of chewy. There were only two tables and I felt a bit guilty taking up a table just for myself. So I took off a star just because it seems like a place where you grab and go your order. There is a lot of foot traffic and I over heard a lot of customers say that this was their favourite spot! I would go back and try their Kouign Amann. Next time!

Really delicious slices of Kouing Amann - we got 2 to take away. Buttery, sweet and delicious.

The place is so small, and very long line-up to get into the store. The service was quite fast. The prices around $3.25, but there was no sale taxes. We bought 8 pieces of croissants, chocolate, nature, almonds raisins.

Deeeeelish! We were told this was a must try, "the best pastries ever! " and we were not disappointed!

One of the best pastries I’ve had. Fresh and delicious. Tastes like a cheese croissant with caramelized honey on top. This is top tier, definitely recommend.

Best Kouing Amann in North America. Very nice little bakery with real French croissants and chicolatines. I wish they could open a branch in BC

Les meilleurs kouign amman du plateau selon moi. Le service est agréable. Il y a régulièrement du monde donc prévoir quelques minutes de file, mais ça vaut vraiment le coup. Quelques pâtisseries également à découvrir.

Great kouign amann. As they do it pie/cake style, you can buy a single piece or an entire cake (have to order in advance). Some say they have other good pastries there, including croissants. But honestly, I was never capable to go there and buy anything other than kouign amanns. They are just too good.

REALLY good pastries, fast and friendly service. These we’re perfectly flaky, not overly expensive, and super buttery.

Reiterating what others have said.this place has the best kougin-amann in the city. Kougin-amann is a flakey pastry made of butter, sugar and dough layered together, creating a beautiful harmomy of sugary bliss. It is definitely the tastiest and most indulgent French pastry out there, and Pâtisserie Au Kougin Amann does it well, right in Montreal. They also sell crossaints, quiche and coffee (also a delight! Loved the almond crossaints with an almond paste inside!)
The girl at the front was also super nice and spoke perfect English when I didn't understand her French! What else can I say except you must go here if you're in Montreal!

The definition of "made with love" the creation of these heavenly pastries is almost magic. Beyond description (but we'll still try) tasting the croissants is like kissing a very delicate, buttery, flaky cloud. The ridiculously delectable, rich, adequately sweet Kouign-amann stays astonishingly fresh for a truly impressive amount of time (we tried it immediately after purchasing and then again over 36 hours later and it tasted the same!) A must try and repeat many times over.

This place is rightly named after the heavenly Kouign-Amann, pronounced as queen a-mahn. Our bad that we asked for a single slice. We packed our single slice to Mont Royal and ate it there and were blown away how delicious and buttery it was. We loved every bite of it and regretted not getting more. So I called and asked if they can keep a slice. I should've asked for more than a slice but it's ok - eating too much of the fattiest dessert isn't the best thing to do. The lady on the phone was very kind and kept a slice. So we went back all the way and picked up our slice. We resisted the temptation to eat right there. We lasted a whole day and then we went at it. This is another foodie reason that I would love to live in Montreal.

J'ai pris leur Kouign Amann à 27$, ce matin, et il est toujours aussi gros et toujours aussi bon. Accueil super courtois avec la bonne odeur de beurre. Penser à réserver votre gâteau car ça part assez vite. Heureusement il est restait!

La galette bretonne spécialité de la maison est tout simplement décadente! Elle fait le succès dessert de tous les repas où on l'a commandé, les convives s'en régalent!

I am a big fan of Montreal's boulangeries and pattiseries and Au Kouign Amann is no exception. The pastry is delicious, flaky and buttery with an almost creme brulee top. Each bite is a delight, and whenever I'm in the mood for a classic, well made pastry I know where to go.

Comment ne pas aimer une patisserie kouign amann? Fermée dimanche et lundi. Réserver la veille pour être certain d'en avoir.

Nous a même offert de réserver un fameux kouign.et je peux vous dire que c’est divin.
Beurre, amande, craquant, chaud, tendre.

Les chocolatines sont aussi dans les meilleures que j’ai mangé.

So i can see why people love this place, it's good. The taste is of some items are not to my taste though that's why it lost a star but by no means this should influence you. Please try it.

The good: cheese croissant was very different, it had a spice it Ginger or something on it that have an extra kick. Absolutely amazing.

The okay: croissant: very bready and fluffy on the inside, over of the few croissants where the inside is better than out. Though i prefer Mamie (more crunch) or Fred's (more butter) than this. But is good.

The not my taste but i can see why people like it: kouign amann. Was sweet and buttery bread with a crust exterior. For my taste it's too sweet, but i can see why people love it. It's good but depends what you want.

The location: cute, small with a park nearby.:)

1. Croissant au fromage, il y un goût un peu unique avec un peu épicé.
2. Croissant au beurre. L'intérieur est molle et bon, mais on préfère des autres marques de croissants. Ça était tellement comme du pain. Mais c'est vraiment bon, et il faut que tu essaye
3.kouign amman, trop sucrée pour moi mais c'est bon si tu aimes la beurre, sucre et un crust croustillante

Delicious pastries with great, affordable prices. Of course the Kouign Amann is the star of the show, but I also really enjoyed the croissants, almond croissants, and raison rolls. The milk rolls with chocolate were a little underwhelming though. Overall, my fave pastry shop.

Après un comparatif stricte mené sur plus de 1 mois entre le kouing amann et le Toledo juste en face, le premier est meilleur et s'en sort avec une pâte bien plus savoureuse, mieux equilibré entre le craquant des feuilles superficielle et le moelleux du coeur de ses chocolatines et croissant. Même le chocolat est clairement plus savoureux et intense. Tout cela pour des produits en moyenne moins cher que le Toledo. Seul bemole est qu'ils ne font pas de chaussons au pomme. Mais définitivement la meilleur boulangerie du plateau.

Sadly, they didn’t have kouign ammans when I was there, but the croissants were good and they also have soup and quiche.

Unforgettable. Went both days we stayed in the city. Tried a piece of the Kouign Amann the first day and bought an entire pie the second to bring home:)

Amazing almond croissant and their main pastry. Although my last croissant from here had some non edible crunchy thing in it, was weird. Not sure what it was. Sad about that:/

Cute, local bakery with really great prices. You must eat the kouign amann warm, it’s an out of this world experience. Bought a full cake for a birthday and it was a hit!

Da BEST! Kouign Amann are so tasty, rich and buttery that they would get a smile whenever your tastebuds start feeling them. Amazing. Chocolatines and croissants are great too, but they got their name for a reason. DO NOT MISS the chance to enjoy these pastries.

Good French pastry place with yummy regional specialty from western France. Limited seating place. More of a grab and go!

The kouing amann is absolutely amazing. They do sell out, so get there early. The selection is not as plentiful as other pastry shops, but you are going there for the namesake. Seating is limited, but that's to be expected for a small neighborhood shop. The staff was wondeful.
We traveled from Colorado for the food in Montreal and this place makes the trip worthwhile (along with a few others).

OMG, these pastries were amazing. Honesty better than the patisserie I visited every morning on my last trip to Paris (sorry France!). The quality and freshness was unmistakable. You can see the bakery in the back buzzing with happy activity. Try the Kouign Amann (the light brown circle cake) ; it’s a flaky, soft delicious sugar cake. We also had the almost croissant (the meal was INSANE), the chocolate croissant (dreams), the quiche Lorraine (warmed up yummy), apple pastry (filled with stewed apple paste), raisin pastry (plump golden raisins were unreal), and the cafe au lait. Had to roll myself out of there by the end but it was worth it!

I would put 6 stars if only I could! A description of that pastery would not spark any excitment. My friend had to litteraly force me into the idea of going.than I tasted it.and felt sorry for all the years wasted in the ignorance of its existance. Since that day, I'm catching up as fast as possible: D (ho, and the cheese and spinach quiche, the home made juice and everything I tried so far is delicious too.)

Delicious example of the traditional Kouign Amann pastry. If you haven't have Kouign Amann before, get ready for one of the best pastries ever! It is super flaky and buttery, and has the perfect amount of crispness and sweetness. It really is a perfection in pastry making. Do yourself a favour and come down to try one of these out, you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely delicious. Absolument Délicieux. Best brunch we had our entire trip, and the staff are great. Nice to see them making the pastries right there.

Je me suis fait vendre la place comme étant la meilleure pâtisserie du Westmount et on ne m’a pas vendu du rêve. J’y ai mangé un grilled cheese et un mille-feuille, si j’avais pu j’en aurais pris un deuxième de chaque c’était très bon.

One of the best croissants in town, I got it and made a sandwich with turkey breast and avocado at home, so good, the crispness of that croissant

It is so delicious but they run out of Kouign amann early in the day unless you call ahead to reserve some.
