My friends and I stayed at this property for a night. This service from the front desk crew (esp. Jimmy) and the housekeeping crew made the experience great. They went above and beyond to help us and ensure we had a good time. The room was already incredibly clean and feels updated
One of the nicer Marriott hotels in Quebec. But there is no lounge. They are very conveniently located right outside of Old Town and walking distance to the parliament.
We paid for a room here two months in advance through a travel agent. We arrive off the plane and show up at 6: 30 p.m. To check in, but are told that they have sold our room to someone else. Apparently they have a policy of selling more rooms than they have, in the hope that there are some no shows, and they make more money. But you, weary traveler, will just get screwed if you show up expecting that your room that you paid for two months in advance, will be awaiting you. They transferred us to a another hotel some blocks away that was under repair, that we trudged to hauling our luggage in the rain. I think they feel that somehow, by finding us another room in the city that this business practice somehow becomes acceptable.
This is a smaller sized Marriott Hotel right next to the St. John Gate and is walking distance to everything in the historic district. There is a public parking garage right next door that is $20CD/night. The hotel rooms were small but all newly renovated and furnished. The beds were comfortable but all of the available pillows were very firm and uncomfortable. The bar-restaurant is small and the staffing seemed minimal but the service was great by everyone. This was not the typical large big city Marriott Hotel that I am used to going to but the service and location were great.
Perfect location to explore the city downtown and view the Tour de Quebec. This hotel has stellar service! Friendly staff ready to make our stay comfortable. Full breakfast bar available at 7 am. Can order from the menu as well.
Rooms are of normal size and clean. It's the least BONVOY-friendly hotel on our trip through Eastern Canada. There is NO Bonvoy lounge in the hotel or free bottled water in rooms per usual practice now among hotels of 3 stars or above. Instead there is a bottle of Fuji water for 7 Canadian dollars. Late check out is 2pm for platinum elite members instead of standard 4pm.
The lobby is small. Breakfast section located in the lobby is even smaller and got really crowed on our first day there. Some of the guests could not find seats. The front desk staff consists of one receptionist dealing with check-ins and outs and one concierge staff who doubles as valet parking agent. So long wait for services were normal and to be expected.
It's right next to the plaza and within walking distance from the pedestrian shopping streets and the older city. It's a big plus. We got the rooms with the plaza view. However our stay coincided with night-time concerts at the plaza. It was loud from morning until 11 pm at night, the latest hour permitted by law for loud performance in Quebec.
All in all it falls short of the usual standard of a four-star Marriot hotel.
Excellent location, in the heart of the old city. Walking distance to the famous Château Frontenac and pedestrian street with lots of restaurants and souvenir shops. Lovely city view from the room. There is no lounge at this property. Breakfast quality was barely ok, we'd not pay for it if it wasn't complimentary due to elite status.
Poor checkin, room tiny & not ready, then frig in room broken, not informed when alternate room ready. Hugely expensive bkfst. Not worth the expensive room rate to be close to historical area. 2nd floor carpeting smelled like urine. Luggage carts old & terrible to maneuver. Would never stay here again.
They DONT accept Debit card! And they do NOT know if your room is prepaid or not. Took more than half hour to checkout! Also small room and no parking lot, Wi-Fi cost $9 for a night.
The location was great and the breakfast was very good. The staff were very friendly. We spent our time out walking the old city so did not use the gym or other facilities.
The desk clerk was fantastic! Took excellent care of us when we arrived. The room is small but more than adequate. Great views. The entire facility is immaculate. Also, Juliana and the breakfast waiter are super stars!
Quebec Centre! We loved this cozy property! The rooms are spacious with nice views. The Location is walking distance to many sites and restaurants. The staff is friendly and willing to assist.
Here comes your expected value for overbooking. Writing this from a rerouted room where i can hear toilet flushes from other rooms. This is what I paid for a couple of months ago. So happy.
Great location and spacious, well appointed rooms with comfortable bedding. Breakfast gets a B grade - more fruit and bread/toast options needed. Not much of a lobby or check in area but friendly reception. Located just outside the walled city gate adjacent to a large square. Parking is next door at city lot - ample spaces and reasonable rates.
Hotel hosts are not very friendly. This is not a what-you-would-expect Marriotts. All you got is a place to sleep. That is it. Don’t expect anything else. No characters or any type of service offered. The only saving grace is the location, it is across from the Gate. I parked my car in the public garage lot next door and walked everywhere. There is a bike rack in the garage if you bring your bikes
I have stayed at multiple Marriott properties this year alone, and this has to be my favourite so far.
First, the location. Prime area, walking distance to the old city, parliament building, and close to the VIA rail station. I felt very safe walking around, and there is plenty to keep you busy and well-stocked during your stay.
The hotel itself has an older charm, which is very fitting of the location, but the rooms have been updated well! They are bright, modern, clean and comfortable. It is slightly smaller but is the perfect size for everything you need. The bathrooms are well-stocked with great products and the bed was super comfortable! I also found that it was not noisy, as I might expect a typical downtown hotel to be.
Lastly, the service. I can't say enough about all of the staff here. From the accommodating check-in, luggage storage while we waited for our room (we arrived incredibly early), and to the experience at the restaurant. Everything was just fantastic.
I wasn't even planning on having dinner at the hotel, but I am so glad that I did. I have to give a special shout-out to the chef, Patrick, our server, Kathleen, and at the front desk, German. German didn't even have to assist me as he didn't work in the restaurant, but he made sure I had water and took the time to check for wine and give me suggestions.
The three of them went ABOVE AND BEYOND to assist me with a selfish request. I am honestly so grateful. They were so pleasant, always had a friendly smile and made my first experience in Quebec one I will never forget, even for something that may seem so small. The hospitality I have experienced, especially not knowing any French (yet you did so well to accommodate), has been my favourite so far.
I will certainly return this year and I totally recommend this hotel to all future travellers!
The hotel is nice enough, it's a very standard marriott, and in a great location. The big issue is the staff. We were treated very brustly upon check-in. The amenities of the hotel were not described and the breakfast I was entitled to was not offered. I had to go back to the front desk and ask about it. The elevator is very slow and you will wait quite a while before it comes. The bathrooms are quite small. The view from the rooms are fantastic and the room itself is amply sized
I can’t thank the staff enough, specially Germain and Julianne, for their hospitality and services they have provided us during our stay. I highly recommend staying at this hotel, amazing location and spacious/clean rooms, excellent staff and overall services. Situated in old Quebec everything including restaurants, shopping, and chateau Frontenac is walking distance from the hotel. Taxi’s and busses are also easily available.
Decent experience. Our hotel room had lots of traffic noise. They charge for wifi so be careful when you log in. Location is central. Parking is off site.
Right in the heart of old Quebec City. Spacious rooms with good layout. Decor is a bit Ikea, but very functional with lots of drawers and place to hang things. Two people could comfortably stay.
Horrible service, stayed there for a week on a business trip, the room was never cleaned once, we even put garbage containing food leftovers in the hallway to have it removed… it stayed there for 4 days
I reached out to the hotel on three different occasions (including Marriott's HQ) to discuss what went wrong with them but no luck whatsoever.
My partner and I arrived in Quebec's airport around 12: 00 pm. Knowing full well that check-in only begins at 4: 00 pm, I reached out to the hotel via the chat on the Marriott app and asked whether the room was ready. I was told, "your room will be ready in approximately 30 minutes. " Fantastic! Arrived at the hotel, checked in and went to the room. Opened the door to find an unmade bed with sheets on the floor, used towels in the shower and two bins full of rubbish including used sanitary napkins. Immediately called reception who came up and said, "oh sorry, you were given the wrong room".
Mistakes happen, yes. But we were then made to wait 2 hours for another room and had to sit in the waiting area with absolutely no updates. I had to plead for an answer as to what was going on as we were exhausted. The situation was extremely poorly dealt with and the staff at the hotel certainly need training on how to simply update guests and simply be more empathetic. I wish I never used my Platinum elite suite nights on this hotel.
Note that I did reach out to Marriott directly who said they would communicate with the hotel and reach out in 3 to 5 business days (this was December 9th, 2021) but nothing since as per the email attached. This hotel is far below the quality expected from a Marriott brand.
Reserved a room on the phone. Didn’t take confirmation number. Call back in a few days since didn’t receive confirmation email. They couldn’t found my reservation then being transferred back and forth between the reservation line and the hotel. Don’t find the agents are willing to help. And got different rates from different agents. Ended up booking at a different hotel to avoid further issues
Location Location Location.this hotel is very conveniently located. We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for Bonhomme Carnaval, which is about a 5 minute walk to the palace from this hotel. It was also convenient to walk to restaurants/snacks/drinks, etc. The main cons are that there is no swimming pool, you have to pay for parking $25/night (in and out privileges), and even as a Gold Elite member, there were no room upgrades or complimentary breakfast, etc. There was also no room cleaning due to covid reasons. I may consider trying a different Marriott property next time. Service and staff were great.
Modern hotel just outside the wall of old Quebec City. Super clean and nicely sized rooms. Hotel is within walking distance to all of the sites and attractions of the old city! Nice breakfast, however not served everyday due to Covid at this time. Great place to stay and explore some history!
Not really a high end Marriott, more like a courtyard. Very noisy room although front desk said quiet room. I will look somewhere else next time I am in Quebec City.
Completely satisfied with my stay here. Room was clean, modern and receptionists were friendly and always greeted you when you walked in. The price was fair. Parking was 18$ a day at the parking garage beside the hotel but wasn't actually in and out because you are charged for time spent in the garage and not a flat rate. You only get the flat rate if you leave your car there. But that wasn't a damper on our stay and we would recommend this hotel.
Nice hotel, newly renovated, great view (upgraded to a city view). But for the basic room, there is a window but it’s directly facing another building with no natural light. So upgrade to a better room and it is worth it.
Nice and really comfortable great location But the air was soo dry inside the room recommends humidifiers inside room at least for winter I will come back and I recommend this hotel great personal experience for Valentine's day Thank you
I stayed for one night at the Marriott, which is centrally located in downtown Quebec. Staff had been courteous and very friendly at all times! They gave me a nice room on the seventh floor and the room itself seemed to be renovated recently and was very clean in my opinion! I definetly would choose this hotel again in the future!
A standard Marriott property with great staff. Few things to note for visitors. Pros: Location is central and close to Old Quebec and attractions. Staff are considerate and accommodating. Both points are pretty consistent is all the reviews. Cons: Building itself is quite old. Even with the remodeling, the structure itself is antique. It's not quite what you'd expect from a "Marriott" hotel, and closer to a Courtyard feeling
Staff was quite friendly. Cant get a better location right at the gate of the old city. Front desk staff go out of their way to help you. Really good and would highly recommend. Lu in Ottawa
This was a very clean hotel with a very competent and friendly staff. Jessica at the front desk took care of room accommodation mix up without incident. Would stay again at this location.
Very poor signage! (Get the Drift)! Especially coming from The 350 million plus Continental shift called Anglais. (Just enjoy The Sun, Water n Air.they belong to All of us regardless of what lang you speak)
Recently we were there for holiday with my twins. Such a terrible experience, we cannot believe it happens in Marriott Hotel. The hotel is extremely small, some what like 3 star. First when we check in, I grab a coffee to go and they can’t even find a proper lid for it. The staff spend 10 minutes to look for one. When we got up to the room, the phone from the room doesn’t work at all. So, I have go downstairs to order everything (Room service? !). The whole entire Hotel only got one highchair for toddlers! When the food arrived, they don’t even have room service table, poor guy carried four plates of food on a tray. The staff tried the best they can, the attitude was great. Unfortunately the management it’s terrible.
Our stay at the Marriott was excellent. The staffs were very nice, knowledgeable and friendly. Special thanks to the concierges who did a really good job. As on our way to Quebec we got into a collision spelled coffee every everywhere and we didn’t expect them to clean inside our car. Thank you so much for everything. We will definitely stay in this hotel if we plan to go back.
Great service. Newly renovated rooms, but super dark, inefficient lighting, it's hard to see with all lights on in the evening! There's a fridge, but no safe, weird because the room is quite big. Nice bed and great shower. Nespresso with capsules in the room! I was on the uppest floor (7th) but view from the room was horrible. No business lounge. Small fitness room with modern equipment. Online check-in gives you a digital key on your phone, so you can skip the front lobby and go straight to your room! Breakfast service not great, could not have a coffee this morning!
This Marriott is situated in close proximity to Old Quebec City. The staff were wonderful and welcoming. We were in a newly renovated room. It was spacious. The bathroom facility was excellent.
Personnel très professionnel. Excellente localisation.
Nice hotel and staff with convienince of walkng to a great tourist area of old Quebec. Only downside is parking but not too bad at all, I think it was around $15 Canadian a day. Room was a ncie value, food looked great, but we never ate there due to the availibilty of other restaurants outside. Bell staff were helpful as were the front desk and nice too. Not a 5 star hotel as it is older, but charming and for me a good value as it was everything it was represented to be. Definately would stay again!
Exceptional stay over the Christmas 2018 season. Really comfortable bed in a suite with a great view of Old Quebec City. The outdoor square below becomes an ice rink during winter and was festively lit up over the holiday. Staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Nespresso machine in the room. Restaurants, cafes and shops are close by in both directions, towards the old town and away from it (Hobbit, Sapristi, and Chez Boulay for dinner; Louca and Le Crac for snacks; Bruliere-St-Jean, Paillard-St-Jean, and Baguette&Chocolat for pastries, coffee and hot chocolate). Would stay here again.
Very nice hotel - with a great location, nice view of the town, and interestingly enough, there's a nice little outdoor ice skating rink right across the street.
As for the hotel itself, I think the king size bed is positioned kind of odd in the room, and the bathroom could use an extra floor mat for safety and comfort reasons (the specific flooring makes the floor rather slick). But those are minor things that I noticed but it wouldn't prevent me from rebooking in the future.
Overall. It seems as if the location is relatively close to sight seeing in Old Quebec and Uber rides for the area are not expensive if you don't feel like driving (which we opted out for the first night).
Nice hotel for the price and it's a good location. Is located right outside the old City wall and about 50 meters from one of the main gates. There's also a convenient parking deck located next door. The staff was friendly and very helpful in any situation that presented itself as always expected from a Marriott property. However no matter what I set the temperature in the room at to it was felt cold. The rooms can be noisy especially when a snow plow goes by. Good for the budget but there are better hotels near by.
Location and staff are perfect, the rooms are quite old for a Marriott and color scheme is of the 90', would need refreshment. No lounge and no water for platinum member other than the 7$ bottle in the room
Epic location, right next to old Town. Really friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast options. The rooms were also very nice and roomy. Perfect for our short stay.
Loved our stay at the Québec City Marriott downtown. This hotel couldn't be more perfectly located. Across the street from Palais Montcalm, and steps away from the action of Old Quebec. The front desk staff were incredibly kind and charming. The room was spacious and on par with what you'd expect for a 4-star hotel.
Quebec city was a very friendly place, i come from the United States and the difference is very much noticed. Without spoiling anything i think its best that whoever is reading this and wants to know more about the city is to take the time and stat her atleast 2 or 3 days. I was only able to stay 2 days but i wish would stay longer.
