Renaissance Montreal Downtown Hotel

I have stayed here twice and love it! The rooms are clean, modern, and spacious. The bathrooms are stellar. Love all the options in the shower, especially with high water pressure and Aveda branded products. The beds and pillows are very comfortable.

Hip hotel in prime downtown Montreal. Decor is trendy so it's a darker theme. Room is decent size when trendy decor. As it's right next to St Catherine shopping street, it's walkable everywhere.

THE HOUSE OF RENAISSANCE! I couldn’t go to the renaissance ball, so I went to this one instead and it was AMAZING! When you enter, you move move move move, anything you do! Also the key card never decline, MY GOD! Always takes a lot of tries to get into the other hotel rooms! I loved the decor and the staff, the Night Shift receptionist is so cuntyyyy! Will be back for act 2 for sure!

Staffs were very friendly. The room itself was a bit run down and dirty. Love the decor though.

Only valet parking was available, we paid $39 per day, and their service was great.

We were put in a room between 2 rooms full of guys partying, so it was a bit noisy when they went in and out of their rooms all night. Luckily they left after 2 nights and we enjoyed the rest of our stay.

Location was very convenient, there are many restaurants and shops around the hotel.

The prestige of the Marriott Renaissance fell short of our expectations in an unimaginable way. We found ourselves victims of an unfortunate incident - our car was stolen from the hotel’s valet parking. The incident itself was shocking, but the response from the management was even more unsettling.

Despite our predicament, we were met with a lack of empathy and support. The unresponsiveness of the hotel management left us stranded, grappling with not only the loss of our vehicle, but also the cost of a rental car to journey back home.

The Marriott Renaissance has always been celebrated for its service quality, making this experience all the more disappointing. Regrettably, our pleas for aid were met with silence. The communication gap from the management team has soured our experience and challenged our faith in the brand.

Sharing our experience is not about spreading negativity, it’s about ensuring fellow travelers are informed and can make empowered decisions. Here’s to hoping that the Marriott Renaissance takes this feedback on board and implements measures to prevent such incidents from reoccurring. If you’re considering a stay, we would advise you to weigh your options carefully. Travel safe, everyone!

The valet parking pickup is so so so slow. It will ruin your schedule level of slowness.
The room has some weird mechanical voice going on all the time. The house keeping is ridiculous too. They did not even give me new towel, didn’t change the used coffee cup either. The people are nice, but the place doesn’t worth it.

I stayed here for a conference. The staff and location are great. The beds are very comfortable and the AC really cools down the room.

Nice Nespresso and fridge in the room.

Overall enjoyable. Don't get a room in a low floors facing the direction of St. Catherine's because you'll hear the annoying loud street performers at night.

Be honest. I saw the bed bug review in Oct 2022. I was on high alert after I checked in. I made sure I checked the bedding, headboard and the baseboard behind the bed. Kudos to the hotel and they did very good job to clean. My room is clean and nice enough. I have the back alley view but I don’t mind at all. It is quiet and not near the elevator landing area. Front desk is very helpful. The hotel is located very close to the Eaton. I did not have time to shop. In general I walked around in wee hours and I felt safe. I would stay there again.

The hotel is nice, located in a very convenient area in downtown close to shopping, restaurants. Lackluster service, not inline with what I would expect from the chain. The food at the restaurant insitu was great and the waitress was attetive. Service at the bar was bad, I understand that can be busy making drinks for the table but I waited 20 minutes for a drink that never came even though I was one of three people at the counter. This place would be great if they worked on customer service and proper training. You got a lot of room for improvement.

Great hotel in a great location. The staff were extremely welcoming and the rooms were nice and clean. The beds were super comfortable.

Fantastic hotel with clean and comfortable rooms. Front desk were friendly and extremely helpful during our weekend stay. The bar made excellent drinks and the staff was excellent. Would easily return.

Very nice place and the main lobby/entrance is very welcoming, chill, and fun! I particularly like the swings, they make my wait a little entertaining!

5 become 3 because of the shower experience. The handshower does not work at all, and the shower head was only like dripping, it was very hard to shower thoroughly.

I've tried all the downtown Marriott hotels and Renaissance definitely wins! The location is great and the property is contemporary and cool. The lobby is small and hipster with very nice lounge areas. Loud music keeps the spirit high during the evenings.

The lobby also hosts a restaurant, East which gets busy in the evenings. Breakfast is served here in the mornings and they have an Asian menu for lunch and dinner. A nice collection of wines and a full bar is a big attraction.

Friendly staff who are willinng to help. Personalized service is a clear winner. The rooms are spacious and modern. The gym is in the basement 2 and is fully equipped.

The only feedback for the hotel is consistency in the restaurant for breakfast. What you get charged for depends on who is waiting your table.

Overall a great stay at this property. This will be my go to hotel when in Montreal for sure.

Pricing: Downtown hotels are always expensive and this property is no exception but comparable to other hotels. The service and facilities are worth the money you pay.

Great food and drinks, just a bit pricey.
Room was very comfortable, soft pillows, loved the shower heads. Towels were a bit rough, could use some fabric softener. Loved the graffiti decor. Excellent staff and superb valet. Recommend!

The decor was pretty cool. Made it a whole experience. Very artsy. Pretty cool lobby. Nice place to hang out with all the decor, art, and swings. We had our mini photo shoot there.
Very nice rooms. Clean. Spacious. Loved the art. Felt appreciated when I saw they have the Nespresso coffee machines in the room and not the cheap ones you usually find in most hotels. Nice pool at the top. We had a great time there. Gym wasn’t the biggest but again, very artsy and had just the right equipment for a decent work out. Nice to see a hotel that has free weights.
We had a great time at the restaurant at the top. Not only the food was quite delicious, but the staff went above and beyond. While at the pool, the bartender was super helpful and prompt with our drinks. Something so simple, made our day amazing. Parking was extra, but it was right across the street, underground, and with security so it’s worth it. Easy access.
One very simple detail that I found amazing were the pillows. Most hotels, even 5 stars, tend to have tiny pillows that go almost completely flat. Here not only the pillows had “substance” for lack of a better term; but they were large. It was super comfortable. Specially for someone like me who likes to sleep on my side. Because they had several pillows and not just two, I was able to have a comfy pillow for my head, and another one to hug while sleeping. Slept like a baby.
ALL the staff we dealt with were superb. But I’d like to mention specially the young man that works at the lobby. I think he works as a valet and helps out with the luggage. He helped us with the luggage under the rain when we arrived, all while smiling. Then one night when my wife wanted snacks and I had no idea we’re to go get snacks at 11 pm, he was nice enough to point me in the right direction so I wouldn’t get lost or waste time going to places that might already be closed. Greatly appreciated.
Will definitely consider as a top option the next time we visit beautiful Montreal.

À deux reprises j'ai booké une chambre dans cet hôtel. La premier fois, en avril dernier, une chambre régulière. Positifs: très belle chambre, spacieuse, lit confortable, très propre. La deuxième fois soit au début du mois, nous avons booké le penthouse. Positifs: belle vue au dernier étage, très grand lit, jacuzzi. Par contre, le hic est que les 2 fois ni la télé ni la télécommande ne fonctionnaient, ce qui est très frustrant quand tu cherches à relaxer. Le pire est que le penthouse est muni de 2 télévisions et les deux ne fonctionnaient pas.aberrant! Vraiment, j'aurais donné toutes les étoiles si les télés étaient fonctionnelles, mais après 2 visites à cet hôtel, j'ai l'obligation d'enlever 2 étoiles par visite.

Definitely a good hotel, and the prices are quite reasonable too. The rooms are of generous size with average amenities but very comfortable beds. The windows were super dirty though. Staff was friendly and helpful, despite the still restricted possibilities due to covid-19. There's a small bar / restaurant by the lobby, however, no breakfast was served due to covid regulations. Only in-room breakfast was possible, which I found strange as other hotels in Canada didn't have this policy. Anyways, the hotel is close to many great breakfast and general food, as well as shopping options.

Booked it because on website it says swimming pool was open but when we check in they told us swimming pool closed for the season

Très bon hôtel, les chambres sont spacieuses et ont une très belle décoration actuelle, le personnel est accueillant et courtois.

I am in MTL often for work and this is my fav hotel in the city.

I grew up here so I know the area and it's a terrific spot for work and pleasure.

Pro Tip, walk to Chinatown, grab a general tao at Maison VIP. Take it back to the hotel, chow down, watch some Netflix in the room and enjoy a Nespresso.

Very well located, you are between the downtown area and the old port. The hotel is modern, cheerful, the decor is colorful. The rooms are clean with stunning bathrooms, the Nespresso machine and coffee pods are a nice touch, the roof top terrace is cozy.

Very nice hotel and it’s not too big you might get lost. The receptionists are always very available and friendly. The rooms are also very pretty, spacious enough and nicely decorated. Bonus points for the location as it’s in the middle of downtown and very accessible.

Excellent! Clean and very efficient staff. Convenient location, walking distance to major shops and to Chinatown. We have stayed here many times and will always choose to stay here when we need a hotel in Montreal.

The staff stole the stuff we forgot in the room. Do not stay there, unless you want the staff to steal from you. I Contacted them an hour after my check out, and every week since then, and they are not open about how some mismanegement ended up in them loosing my things.

Belle place et très propre! Chambre bien spacieuse et la toilette était tout aussi belle. J’ai passé une exellente nuit à l’hôtel Renaissance et le personnel était très acceuillant. Je recommande pour le prix!:)

Great hotel. I'll say this is the one of the best Renaissance hotels in Canada. The only down side is the parking.

J’ai mangé au Rooftop ce midi et le repas était vraiment très décevant. Nous avons commandé la table d’hôte du jour: il a fallu attendre plus de 30min la salade de d’entree très ordinaire et quand le plat que nous avions commandé 50min après notre arrivée le tartare était encore congelé. La serveuse était souriante mais vraiment perdue et pas professionnelle. Beaucoup trop d’attente alors qu’il ne restait que 4 ou 5 tables autour de nous.
C’est dommage, l’endroit est vraiment sympa cela pourrait être parfait si les équipes étaient mieux encadrées.

I visited the Renaissance in Montreal over the May long weekend. Staying only on the Saturday night I booked a room for a friend and I to enjoy the city. It was overall a nice stay but sort of strange that we got a noise complaint at 9: 30pm at a hotel that advertises as a sort of a young, hip place with parties and DJs etc.lol we were warned again at 11pm that if we had a noise complaint again we would receive a $250 fine. I went to the front desk and told them I would not be paying a fine if I received one because the first warning was at NINE THIRTY. The man at the front desk was much more understanding then the woman who came to my room. But overall good stay. Clean, comfortable, close to downtown, and good food and cocktails at the bar.

Comfortable amenities and great service. The restaurant and bars are also great. The bedding was a highlight. Best sleep I've gotten in a hotel in a long time.
