Restaurant Grinder

This review is more directed towards large groups looking to dine here with their "set menu"

First to start off.the food and staff were amazing. Nobody had anything bad to say about the meals and the timing everything was brought out.

What i have a BIG problem with, was the price for the set menu. Our set menu price was $75.00 a head. That gave a choice of 1 appetizer, 1 main and a communal dessert for the table.

After looking at the standard menu, on the HIGH end if someone ordered the most expensive options it was $60.00.on the low end $41.00.that is a MASSIVE difference.
Also, the dessert was 1 slice of cake.a bowl of ice cream, a small lava cake and a bread style pudding to share between 5 people.so what they are saying is that the dessert option is on average $15-$20.00 a head

This is an AWFUL deal and i wish i would have known about this before i would have never chosen to come here for a group dinner.

SO if you are planning on using one of their set menus for a group dinner.just be advised you are getting price gouged for getting absolutely nothing extra.

My recommendation is to find somewhere else for your group outing.but to come just for a regular dinner off their regular menu, i would recommend Grinder.

Sashimi is of very poor quality and unauthentic. It has mayo, green beans and grilled zucchini. It's still a nice place though. The waitress wasn't receptive to our feedback about the menu.

Taste not worth the price. Tuna tartare is not as good as the kegs. Too sour and didn’t like it’s ginger taste. Colour of avocado looks oxidized. Asked to pack my $40 left over but they threw it out which why leaving a 2 star.
We sat at the bar watching the bartenders using bare hand on everything, ice, mint leaves, lime, during the middle of omicron!

Food was nice, however it took a loooong time to come. Otherwise no complaints, waiters were nice!

Came here for a work dinner. The food was great and the prices seemed very reasonable. All of the main meals (steak, fish, etc…) comes with your choice of a side included which seems pretty rare for a steakhouse-type restaurant these days. The vibe is more a young, hip, trendy one - not necessarily the place to bring your grandparents or for a formal business meeting. Free valet parking at the door is a huge perk since parking in the area is difficult. The staff were super welcoming and accommodating. I’d definitely come back here.

Merci a toute l'équipe du Grinder, vous nous avez fait passer une soirée mémorable. Nous nous sommes réunis entre amis d'enfance et nous avons passé un temps mémorable. Notre serveuse, Érika, était tellement gentille et attentionnée qu'on pouvait presque sentir qu'elle faisait parti de notre groupe d'amis depuis toujours.

Bref un excellent repas, et un excellent service.

The eggplant side dish tasted as burnt but you not going to see it because the light is dark above the table. Octopus was also burned I didn't finished it. I took the leftovers to home and that's when I saw that eggplants were just burnt. Scallop was good. Lobster was a bit chewy. Steak was good. Tuna tartar was very good. Mussels were nice. I put one star because at this price, I would expect everything to be exceptional.

Good vibe and music, lots of nice looking people.

But service is at best a 2 star, with servers paying little attention to us despite spending good $$.

Food is just ok, edible but would not come back for food.

Ok for drinks, but not for food. Would not come back.

Best steak house in Montreal. Always packed, very reasonable price for quality of meat that you’re getting

The Grinder restaurant is an absolute must-visit for steak enthusiasts. Their steak is hands down the best I've ever had. Cooked to perfection, it's incredibly tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. If you're on the hunt for a top-notch steakhouse, look no further than The Grinder. Your taste buds will thank you!

Ma famille de Calgary était en visite a montreal et nous voulions une place avec une belle ambiance et la bonne bouffe donc j'avais proposé le Grinder puisque jai vraiment aimé mon expérience la 1ere fois (avant pandemie).

Cette fois ci c'etait apres la pandemie donc avec leur nouvelle restriction de 2h par table. On arrive à l'heure pour notre table (5pers), la serveuse a prit 15min avant de venir nous donner les menus, verres d'eaux etc, elle a prit un autre 20min avant de venir nous voir pour passer la commande des boissons alors qu'on faisait signe qu'on était prêt à tout commander dès 10min après qu'on soit arrivé, mais personne était disponible et on se sentait invisible aupres des personnels. Bref.elle a prit un autre 20mins avant de nous amener nos 3 bouteilles de vins/prosecco et on n'a pas reçu nos plats avant 1h et 30min dans notre limite de 2h (incluant entrées). On avait seulement moins d'une heure pour finir 3 bouteilles et 3 gros plateaux à partager + entrées et on s'est fait pressé pour le prochain groupe.

J'ai rien contre le fait de mettre des restrictions pour la salle à manger, mais l'organisation du service doit aussi être A1. Après la facture d'environ 1300$ avec un merci qu'on entend à peine de la serveuse parce qu'elle est débordée, ça ne donne vraiment pas de goût de référer des gens ni d'y retourner. Ma famille était vraiment déçue et je me sentais vraiment mal de les avoir introduit au Grinder. Plusieurs personnes dans mon entourage à vécu le même genre d'expérience, donc j'en resume que vous avez beaucoup à améliorer dans votre service à la clientèle pour avoir le mérite de mettre une restriction aussi courte.très déçue et fortement déconseillée.

Came for lunch and tried the burger. Extraordinary taste! You need a big mouth though or a sophisticated burger eating technique, it’s worth it!

It’s a great place and the staff is super friendly, helpful and attentive. Looking forward to coming back

L'expérience dans son ensemble était bonne. Les plats que j'ai dégustés étaient délicieux pour la plupart. Les accompagnemts complimentaient bien le poisson/viande. Il faisait un peu sombre à l'endrout où mon groupe et moi étions assis. Cependant, ce n'etait pas très grave. Les serveurs étaient agréables, j'ai trouvé que le service à table s'est fait légèrement trop vite à mon goût. Je vous conseille vivement se restaurant si vous êtes amateurs de poissons ou de fruit de mer, car ce sont ces plats qui étaient selon mon groupe et moi les mieux réussis.

I had a disappointing experience at Grinder restaurant. The prices were insanely high, the service was painfully slow, and it felt like we were being ignored by the waitstaff throughout our meal. I also couldn't help but notice that a single shot of cheap liquor cost a whopping $20, adding to the overall sense of being overcharged. This only added to my disappointment with the restaurant. Not a place I'd recommend unless you have money to burn.

Best place in Montreal to get a steak.

We got the tomahawk medium (came perfectly cooked) and was melt in your mouth delicious.

The side are also amazing. The Brussel sprouts and the fries are DELISH. I don’t normally eat raw beef but I tried the carpaccio and it was amazing. I’d order that again. Same for the tartares. Very good.

We sat on the “outside” inside if that makes sense. The decor is super nice with lots of greenery in the summer (open roof) very vacation vibes. Would def go back.

Service was good, but typical, nothing over the top. Took a while to get out food but the wait was worth it, everything was just A1.
