Restaurant Keung Kee

Walked in after work with my husband for date night as I work in Chinatown on Gauchetiere, 3 min walk to resto from my work. We were treated so badly and weren't even awknowledged at the door, we waited 5 minutes, tables were free, the servers kept ignoring us, we smiled from the time we walked in. Nothing. The guy after 6 min looks at us and literally looked at us. Then walked away behind the cash ignoring us. We were about to drop easily a few hundred or more for king crab, shrimps, lobster, etc. We walked out by the time the guy started to approach us.never, NEVER judge a book by its cover. We would love to try the place due to reviews but I am telling you, if you have tables free, don't be ignoring clients who will easily bring in a lot of money and often if you treated them better and not judge by their looks. I am quite sick and tired of the racism even immigrants have towards the first peoples on the land they benefit off of. Not all of us are homeless. Many, many of us have wealth and are rich. So next time you wish to attain good clients who pay a lot for food experiences, don't ignore them.

Good was very good and what I perceived as authentic. We decided to enter to this restaurant bc it looked authentic and most of the clients looked Asian, which I took as a good sign.

We waited on the line to be seated. It felt like they were giving preference to others, supposedly they had reservation but the body language didn't felt like they did.

We were finally seated and then asked to move to a smaller table. Ok, then we moved and we looked at the menu, as a group we decided to get dishes we were familiar with and to get a dish that was unknown. Everything was very good. The spring rolls were amazing!

I would come back and would recommend, just do not expect a fine/nice dining experience, it is more like an authentic atmosphere.

A great Cantonese style restaurant! I really enjoyed the wide selection of entrées they offered and the staff were nice enough to comp my meal when something was amiss.

The only thing that could be improved on is maybe less oil as it was a little too much for me personally (however oil is a large part of Cantonese food and didn’t take away from the dishes at all) and the rice was slightly undercooked. The interior design could use an update but not urgently as the design could be considered “homely”.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience and definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for authentic Chinese food.

Bad service. Bad attitude. We asked for spoon and napkin. Never got one so we have to use the serving spoons to eat. We asked for plastic bag for take out. Never gave us. The guy with glasses in the reception area is very rude. After that awful service they even got mad for the low tip. At least we gave a very low tip instead of nothing. Did not even deserve a tip. Disgusting and unprofessional. I will NEVER RECOMMEND. Food is MEH. Fake hype. Will never come back

I hate the attitude of the Chinese waiter who blamed me about ordering dishes. I came here many times before but from now on: no.

Had beef fried rice. Good quantity, a bit too salty.decent, but probably won't be returning for this. Based on other reviews, very likely other dishes are better.

One of the best for Chinese food. Fast service, closes late, good servers, and delicious food with extensive menu. Great to order lots of dishes and share with a group. I highly recommend.

C'est embarrassé de partout mais les gens sont sympathiques, c'est bon et les prix pas trop élèvés

Les plats sont corrects, un peu comme tout ce qu'on peut trouver dans le chinatown. Si on aime la cuisine asiatique, c'est plutôt bon. Les serveurs en revanche sont froids et jettent les plats sur la table. Ils passent leur temps à débarrasser et semblent presser pour qu'on finisse.

Some dishes are huge, some are small. Some are with really good value, some not. Some are fresh, some are so so. It’s hit or miss. You just have to take a chance.

Semi hidden up a flight of stairs; I've been coming here for years for their amazing food. I'm heartily glad that they have survived the first half dozen waves of the pandemic thus far.

The restaurant forced us to leave a bigger tip. We tipped what we thought was the service and wouldn't let us go. I had a really bad experience, we came from Toronto and learned about this restaurant from someone else, but the experience was really bad. Friends who have come to visit avoid the shop.

The food was not bad in general, until I found a bug in my dish. Everything could have been settled in a respectful way, however the attitude of a member of their staff had a very bad attitude towards us for their mistake.

Food is good. Not overly expensive. Tastes light, not overly salty. Waitress behind the counter very kind. Will come again. Thank you!

One of the better Chinese restaurant in Montreal. Lots of variety and quick service. A bit on the pricier side but quality is consistent

Wow, this place has barely changed over the last couple of decades. I used to go there frequently as a kid with my family when we lived in Montreal, and just recently returned after 26 years. The food quality is still as outstanding as it used to be, and Keung Kee remains one of the longstanding staples of the Montreal Chinatown area.

The food is pretty good and the prices are good too, is a busy place, closes until 1 am is not a fancy or pretty spot, but for hungry people works pretty well.the service is slow though.

Well, it's very authentic Chinese place so you need to know what your are ordering. But if you do it's really good.

Usually the food is good, this will be my last time. The food had a funny smell, and later that evening, it gave me an upset stomach and borderline food poisoning. The water given at my table also had no ice and tasted like warm tap water, whereas other tables had ice in their water. Regardless to this, the food was extra expensive because I was charged for many combos. Sadly I will no longer eat at this restaurant.

Bad service. Rude behaviour by the waiter. Demanded more tip and the waiter said some words in language which I cannot understand with an angry face.

Restaurant tight in terms of space - food ok but not fabolous - pricing is ok - the servers was not welcoming

Classic place to get cantonese dishes. The employees have been working here for a long time, probably more than 10 years: they are knowlegeable and can recommend you some dishes tailored to your taste and allergies.

Ordered takeout. The dishes I ordered were both labelled as spicy but were not spicy at all but nevertheless were very tasty and had fresh, good quality ingredients so I was happy with them.

Great place to get your fix on Cantonese/Hong Kong style food. My wife and I opted for a quick lunch. They have a good selection of congee, noodles and rice dishes. I had the beef congee and my wife ordered the noodles with duck and BBQ pork. Portions were larger than I expected. The duck and pork were tender and tasty. The congee was freshly made but could use a bit more seasoning. Overall a satisfying lunch. Don’t expect much in terms of service though.

Not bad for the price. Seems like the place is under new management. By saying that the food/chef is a little bit different. We are from Toronto, and we always stop by here. The rice was a little cold. I have to admit I'm being generous for this restaurant also by giving it a four stars.

This is my go-to restaurant in Chinatown! One of the best restaurants in the neighbourhood! The food is so fresh, hot, crispy and tasty! I feel seafood is a skill that they have compared to meat (chicken/beef/pork). Razor clams are always on point and perfect whenever I order it.

Been long time client and always will be. Staff very nice and food is delicious. Their vegetarian hot pot and salted spicy pork chop is my favorite. When it is lobster season yum! I usually do take out and if going on Fridays and weekend call to reserve a table. Missed thought days where I can eat a hot meal in a restaurant.looking forward to going back one day.

My family has been going to Keung Kee for a couple of years. The food is consistently delicious and the servings are generous. Service is also fast and friendly.

Pas aimer. Dumblings trop cuits, ils étaient brûlés. Rouleaux de printemps la pâte était crue à l'intérieur, le poulet général Tao contenait beaucoup de tirail. Le seul point positif, les eggs rolls étaient correct. N'y retournerai pas

The food was really good, especially the plum sauce. It had a nice lemony taste. The service seemed really rushed though despite the restaurant not being at full capacity.

Le menu de ce restaurant est si volumineux que ça prend un bout de temps avant de décider. Basé sur le menu, ils ont tellement de choix que rien n'est leur spécialité. Ce faisant, ils sont capable d'exécuter des repas chinois mais je conseillerais d'autres endroits pour être offerts d'excellents repas.

Ordinaire sans plus. Rien qui fait wow dans la bouche. Pas de poulet dans le poulet général Tao. Juste de la pâte à friture. Je ne reviendrai plus.

Les serveurs (oui, au pluriel) pratiquaient une politesse particulière suivant laquelle un a « jeté» (un verbe qui définit parfaitement leur action alors) le bol sur la table en versant du bouillon partout sur la nappe, l’autre nous a montré le blanc de ses yeux. Une expérience magique et unique. Oui, unique, car je n’y rentrerai jamais.

Certes pas cher, mais ne rend pas hommage à la cuisine asiatique. Je dirais même que ce lieu vous en détourne.

Perfect place for food around midnight. Waiters are little rush or tough. But price is good. Boss is nice.

Best Peking duck in town with super smart & efficient service! Authentic Hong Kong dishes like the fried pig intestine, marinated jellyfish & mini fish and chips are must-tries!

Suupposed to be real Hong Kong style food. The steamed chicken was just o.k. Nothing great, plus the ginger and shallot sauce was lousy, and such a stingy amount for a half chicken. Wait staff not friendly at all. I don't need to go there again.

Best chinese restaurant in chinatown the meals are super duper delicious but bring atleast 100$ because you are gonna order quite a lot of dishes

We immediately left after they literally let another couple who entered after us in. They asked us how many we were and i said 2. Then two Asians come in and was asked the same question. After they answered 2, they were given seats before us. I'm never coming back.

Oily (just like any other restaurant in Chinatown to be fair). But service is alright and food choice too.

Haven't been here over a decade, considered one of Chinatown's better restaurants for a nice hot quick meal. Don't come expecting full pampering service, very rare Chinese restaurants ever offer pampering services, its mainly eat, pay, & go what food service is all about for Chinese restaurants. Came is today with my nephew after work and sure enough every meal we ordered hit the spot, cooked and seasoned to perfection, the place can be a little cleaner, plates and cups were kinda spotty, service was super quick and accurate. Recieved free fortune cookie and sliced iranges after a fantastic meal at a competitive price.

Met friends from out of town. They ordered and fell in love with the authentic Chinese cuisine. Luv the fish ma soup.

Whenever visiting Montreal, this restaurant has been an essential part of our itinerary. The prices are good, and the portions are huge. A single dish could almost feed 2 people.

Authentic Cantonese food, with tons of options. And it seems like most of the staff are AT LEAST trilingual!
