This restaurant is ALWAYS busy, but there is a good reason for it, IT'S DELICIOUS. We came twice while here this vacation, for my birthday (Tues Jan. 16th, & Sat. 20th) I didn't mention that it was my birthday until we went to pay and our waitress insisted on wishing me a happy birthday and surprising me with a birthday treat. I was totally surprised! The food is always SO TASTY! Always recommend this as a must stop for brunch!
Juste MALADE. Tout était parfait, les assiettes en même pas 5min! Les toilettes trop nice, la bouffe juste DÉBILE. 3 heures de route aller ça en valait la peine amplement
Cool looking place in Old Quebec. I got some recommendations from a local and this place had the most number of tourists. Foods were just alright, none of them were anything amazing. I regret what I ordered in a sense that those were too safe choices; in another word, not interesting enough. Maybe I could have been happier if I ordered something different? Maybe, maybe not.
Based on what I had, I don’t think it really is worth trying this place given with lining and waiting (which exists even in Monday morning) but might be worth a try if reservation is made in advace. Not so difficult to make one via map.
I went there after receiving a recommendation from a local, but honestly, the food didn't taste as good as I expected. The omelet felt more like fried eggs than an omelet. I really liked the other bar I went to after being recommended by the local, so I had high expectations for this one, but I think it led to even bigger disappointment.
There was a line even on Monday morning, but I'm not sure if this place is worth waiting in line to eat. You can make a reservation quickly using maps, so I think it's worth trying at least once if you make a reservation. The atmosphere is pretty and nice.
Very busy at dinner time. Without a reservation we had a shared table, but it was fine, thank you. Excellent bison special, think buffalo prime rib. Classic U. S.rock music. Thumbs up!
Meh.touristy, churn & burn. Had the shepherd's pie.plate presented to me was mashed potatoes, creamed corn & "red wine infused beef", laughable because it was shredded tasteless "beef", all slapped on a plate- yuck. Deer tartar was ok, too sweet w/ "maple syrup" all over it. We should have run away when we saw the kitchy interior. Don't bother.
WOW. This was an excellent restaurant. I only had time to eat at one place during my visit, and I'm glad I ended up at LA Buche. The food came out only a few minutes after ordering. Hot food came hot and cold food came cold, can't ask for more than that. The menu features French Canadian cuisine. There was bison, rabbit, and venison on the menu (which I never saw in the rest of canada). The portions were large and every bite was delicious. The restaurant itself is lively and decorated with eclectic Canadian items, stag mounts, sleds, syrup, etc. It's really a gorgeous little place. There was so many staff members, service was excellent. I had an amazing time enjoying the food and atmosphere I cannot recommend LA Buche enough, it is a must for visitors.
French toast was extremely salty and somewhat dry, not sure if it was a mix-up in the kitchen or what it is supposed to be like, but it wasn't the greatest. The service was great, prompt and friendly, and the food came out extremely fast. Cappuccino was also very good. Salmon crepe was nice too.
Saddened to say this was a very poor breakfast experience. Coffee tasted like water. We asked for a refill, but the refill tasted the same. The French Onion soup was lacklustre, the main ingredient seemingly being cheese. The poutine was incredibly salty, the cheese curds cheap and plastic. The staff was nice and the ambiance very lovely, but the food incredibly poor. Left a bad taste in our mouths for a couple of hours afterwards.
Had such a delicious, pleasurable lunch today. The poutine, grilled cheese, pudding chomeur and Caribou cocktails were simply comforting and incredibly tasty. Service was thoughtful and attentive. Would definitely recommend️
Fried chicken waffles supried me with spicy touch. I would say it is my first time to having it spicy, and it works. Cabane à sucre dish is decent good, with their little specialty. Lovely brunch here, nice service! Super recommended!
Chanced upon this funky restaurant while looking for brunch in Quebec City. Love the decor and the ambience really enhanced our experience. My husband had the chicken and waffles which he loved. The sauce is not that sweet and really compliments.
I had the crepe with cheese salmon and spinach. I find that the crepe is abit too thick but not sure if that’s just the Quebec style. Loves the cheese and salmon.
Fun, quirky decor, good music, cool washroom, great atmosphere and excellent, friendly service by Jonathan…the other servers not quite as welcoming nor professional when it came to placing our orders on the table (pretty much slapped down without a word). Most of the food was a bit disappointing. Like the other reviewer said, the rabbit wings had wayyy too much sauce and the meat was dry and tough. The onion soup and salmon tartare with salad were tasty (fries with the salmon were awful and just not a good fit with the salmon). The tourtiere is worthy as long as you don’t dislike nutmeg (think it was nutmeg).
Great atmosphere, unexpected, friendly wait staff, great food quality and very different but amazing choices, Quebec cuisine done not overly fancy but so great
Loved this place! It was a great brunch spot, highly recommend if you are visiting or in the area. The food and bottomless mimosas are amazing and our server, Leo was the best. If you plan to visit I recommend asking for him!
Came back to this place after visiting Quebec city 5 years ago, and the food is still just as great tasting. Their Quebecois Sheppard's pie and the meat pie were delicious. The Sheppard's pie was extremely comforting to eat. The meat pie had chunks of generous portions of meat with a deliciously dressed salad. The food was so good, and the staff were even better. Superb service.
Came here on our trip to Quebec and I honestly can't rave about this place anymore! First off, when walking up cant go past the smell of fresh baked bread wafting out of this Place! Nick was our server and he was the best! He took care of us and was so polite and nice but honestly the entire staff was so friendly and welcoming! It was my husband's birthday and we got the quebecois mimosa at brunch and Nick was just so attentive and made us feel really special!
Do yourselves a favour and make sure to visit this spot!
La Buche was fantastic. Our waiter Jonathan was superb. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary and they brought out sparkling wine as soon as we sat down. We had the grilled cheese and the ribs both were delicious. We then shared the chocolate cake. A fabulous place in Quebec city.
Went there for brunch. While the brunch menu is rather small, it is quite varied. Plates are quite big and very tasty. You have to taste their bacon if you go there.
Best restaurant best delishios food and best customer service! Special thanks to Nick and Mike! Guys you are very professional and very helpful! You made our day! We will come back 100%! Highly recommend this restaurant!
