Food is very very good, the chef Guillermo impressed us with every meal
Service is great. We also got to meet Michael, the owner who was very hands on helping the staff and making great drinks
The vibes is cozy and chilled, very good ambiance for dates

Loved the food, vibe and service. We had the bison burger, bone marrow, fish cakes and carrot salad to start, as well as the lobster roll. All the food was fantastic and the staff was great.

Beef Tagliatelle was so tasty, best comfort dish I’ve had in a while. Warm vibes, good music, prompt service. Great experience.

The Moose caught our eye. Without a reservation we were accommodated at the bar. Food and drinks were great. Commentary from bar was entraining and fun. Atmosphere warm and cozy, and yes the background music was great.
We will be back and will be making reservations ahead of time.

First time at L’Original and we loved it. Staff were very friendly and service was great. The food was spectacular. We started with the oysters and the fennel salad both of which were fabulous. We had the steak and halibut special and both were wonderful. We finished with the sticky toffee pudding which was also good.

This place is amazing! 10 out of 10! The atmosphere, food and cocktails are all fantastic. We are looking forward to coming back the next tine we are in Montreal. You gotta go!

Great night out. Small intimate restaurant. Skilled casual staff and the food was great. The beef tartare was fantastic with a great story. Make sure you ask how this unique dish was created. Once you know that you’ll get it and the flavours are brilliant in a beef tartare.

Amazing place. The restauranteur was tending bar and was knowledgeable and approachable about the food and drink. Food was amazing and ambiance was perfect. Clearly lots of regulars. Best place I've ever stumbled into randomly anywhere in the world.

L’Original was fantastic. We started with the carrot salad and both had the tagliatelle, and it was phenomenal. The restaurant was cute and cozy and romantic. We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to come back. This place slaps.

Excellent restaurant! Les os de moelles sont goûteuses et vraiment bien apprêtées! L'agneau était délicieux. Mon garçon m'a fait goûter à son burger de bison.meilleur burger jamais mangé! La prochaine fois, je m'essaie pour la pieuvre. Pour ceux qui ne sont pas amateur de pieuvres, je suis persuadé que vous y trouverez votre compte, tous les plats ont l'air délectables!

An unbelievable eating experience from start to finish. The Obi King Salmon was absolutely brilliant. Be sure to get the sticky toffee with ice cream for dessert!

Came here for my Birthday and had the best time!
The oysters were so fresh, the drinks were cold, the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD DELICIOUS! The taste of the schnitzel was like fireworks in my mouth. You MUST try the deserts the chocolate was so good!
The Staff was friendly and very helpful, the atmosphere was PERFECT!

First time: Excellent service.nice decor, kinda has a speakeasy meets hunting lodge kinda vibe. Great food. Mushroom toast and sticky toffee pudding were especially good. My maple old fashioned was both strong and sweet.

Second time: attentive and friendly service. Great retro playlist. Sticky toffee pudding and maple old fashioned were still good. The truffle poutine is massive but delicious. The salmon tartare was very flavourful.

Staff was knowledgeable and fun. Gluten free options available. Food and drinks were SO good! Highly recommend! Sit at the bar. Best night!

Extrêmement déçu. Très bon service mais la nourriture nous a rendu malade ma femme et moi à la Saint Valentin. Le porc pour le Schnitzel était a moitié cru, plein d'eau et les légumes insipides. Bon dessert.

This place is a total gem! Had a wonderful dinner at L'Orignal with my partner recently while visiting Old Montreal. Fantastic meal (everything was delicious), very reasonable price-points, attentive & personalized service by one of the owners. Highly recommend this cozy, classy, unique spot. We'll definitely be back!

The food is very good, and the fun bartender/owner makes you feel welcome. Try the Bone Marrow, and get a special treat when you've finished.

Certainly one of the best restaraunts in Montreal. Excellent oysters and preparation, drinks, meat dishes, seafood and desserts. Their nightly specials are usually fantastic.

Truffle poutine was absolutely amazing and great for sharing! Ordered the ox tail and pork schnitzel as well. Portions were great for all dishes and we left very full and satisfied.

What a great way to end our trip than to have some quebecois food in Old Montreal.

They mentioned if you’re hungry to have their pork schnitzel… so glad I did as it came with two deliciously crispy pork schnitzels over top of sauerkraut. Loved it!

Their braised beef tagliatelle was delicious and loved how it was cooked with truffle butter. And of course, burger with poutine was a must!

I had their Moscow “moose” which was their take on a classic. The St. Germain was a great touch.

All in all, an excellent meal with great service and I’ll be sure to come back here next time!

Seriously the most chill, welcoming experience in Montréal. Fine dining meets rustic cottage chic. The quaint little hole in the wall had the most delicious entrees with a fabulous atmosphere. Debby and Mike made this the best part of our trip to Quebec. BTW … Mike’s SECRET Cocktail Sauce is AMAZING. 10/10 … would recommend.

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere! It’s very cozy and inviting. We came here on Saturday night for dinner.

We ordered 6 oysters and both had a bison burger. The oysters were very fresh! The burger was pretty delicious and juicy.

The only concern I have is, that they don’t change their used cutleries. By this, I mean I saw on two occasions where they reused cutlery that was at a table where guest had sat. After we ordered our burgers, they took our regular knife and gave us steak knives, I watched the waitress put the knife back into their cutlery tray. I did not use the knife, but still I had touched it and it was on our table for at least 30 min. Secondly, there was a table next to us, and the couple decided not to eat there and left. Instead of resetting the table, the waitress simply cleaned the table and left the cutlery set there. This made me feel a little sick, they should most definitely have removed it as guests sat there for quite some time.

We visited last year right before the pandemic. We had the Bolognese, the marrow and the pork schnitzel. Omg delicious! We were the only Americans in the restaurant and the owner immediately came over and pulled up a seat! He had dinner with us and ordered a round of shots from his bar! My husband is a chef and we are still talking about how great the experience was at la original!
We had some amazing cocktails, too.
We will come back one day. I think it’s our favorite restaurant ever amd we have been all over the world.

Great food, service and staff. We made a reservation but were told our table wasn’t quite ready. They gave us a glass of Prosecco each to wait with and I was very impressed by that. A thoughtful gesture on their part so thank you for that!

I was in Montreal last week for a business trip and happened to come across L'Orignal where I had the best salmon belly tataki I've ever had in my life so far! I wish I had ordered 3 of those salmon belly. Literally melts in your mouth but has a nice crunch on the outside. I had beef ragu cannelloni for my main dish that paled in comparison to my appetizer.

Great ambiance, great food, friendly staff. Every course was excellent and well thought through. An interesting twist on classic culinary comfort food.

I had my Valentine’s Day dinner here and it was a great experience. The schnitzel was delicious and the service was very friendly. I highly recommend for a hearty meal in a cozy space.

My partner and i go to l'original for special ocassion.we get treated like family by mike and his team.we usually start at the bar with cocktails and oysters.the oysters are to kill for and cleaned to perfection.last time we left the meal to the chef who fed us a tasters menu that was terrific.great bottle of wine and after dinner drinks.great evenings all the time.wonderful experience.

L'orignal has been a hidden gem in the city for years. It was my go-to 3rd date spot in my single days. I would walk in with my date and Mike would shoot over 2 Rye Gingers without a word, and then come over and cater to our every need all evening. Whenever I have friends or clients in from out of town, I usually end up bringing them to L"Original because the food is so flavourful and the vibe is always so fun. Great place for a dinner for 2, or for a night out with some friends.

I ordered wing skate fish, which tasted way off and not fresh. They offered to comp the meal, which I ended up throwing up, and nonetheless charged me for the exchanged item.
They were extremely pushy on the appetizers and desserts.
There are definitely better choices out there in Montreal

Food was cold. Oysters had no flavor. Ordered a short espresso and got a espresso cup full of coffee. Expensive and not worth it in my opinion. I expressed food was fold. Dosh was very cold. They didn't care.not coming

Overall the food was of good quality and the service friendly. However the prices are quite high for the experience. This will by no means be a memorable experience. Maybe my opinion was skewed by the exceptional experience we had the night before in another restaurant for which I would gladly travel from manhattan just to eat there. L’original, with the same price range cannot even compare. Sorry.

Thoroughly meh, particularly given the price. Nice enough service but the food is skimpy and, if not incompetent, unremarkable. Really good french fries, but is that really what I one goes to a restaurant like this for? Had the duck Magret, not over done, but rubbery and bland; sauce was undetectable. Was drawn in by other reviews, so wanted to offer some balance. Cheap starch hounds will make out better.

I really like to be more positive, as I love the concept but sloppy service reduced enthusiasm - I had an experience I literally NEVER had in a restaurant. I ordered one wine (Pino Gris, Vignoble Camay) but the waiter showed up with another (Chardonnay) & insisted it was the similar, to avoid a scene I tasted it, it was not & I had to request he replace it, which he did - but this was strange to say the least - why would he try to push a different wine than the one ordered? There were also other glitches in service & although most dishes were great some were uninspired, a dish called from our gardens was a random collection of vegetables, that did not come together, feel fresh or taste specifically good, not something we’d expect of a restaurant that prides itself on produce, and the same went for the Duck. Again would have given 4 stars if service was better

I have no idea why I follow the owner/GM on Instagram (friend of a friend is all I can imagine but I do know he's great with social media), but I dropped in anyway and he was great, his staff was great, and the food was great. Nice treat. Way nice for solo bar diners if you're working in Montreal.

Portions très petites et factures très salées. Les entrées sont ridiculement petites et chers. À ce prix la je dirais même que le service était nul. On a eu froid toute la soirée. On était 4 qui avons beaucoup consommé et mangé, malheureusement on a renversé une coupe de vin et la serveuse Élisa n’a pas voulu la remplacer.pourtant on a payé une facture très salée! This was on my list. Took a chance on our last night in Montréale walked, they found us a table at 8. We walked over, sat down, and looked around. They have a great, old timey, high end cabin feeling. Very cool. I had the house beer. It was Delicious. We shared 3 appetizers, all excellent, baked Oysters, bone marrow, and halibut. Main courses were steak, duck, and Poutine. All delicious. We shared the desserts to celebrate. Uniformly superb. Service was great too. Highly recommended!

Restaurant canadien très atypique! Nous avons mangé leur incontournable « Burger de bison » qui était délicieux! Nous vous recommandons également l’entrée « tartare de bœuf ». Le personnel était très sympathique.

Bonne entrée avec la soupe du jour à l'oignon, pour le repas principal, la bavette et la poutine aux truffes étaient incroyables et pour le déssert la mousse au chocolat était un peu décevante. Les prix semblaient aussi un peu chers, mais sinon super décor et service.

Amazing Bison! This restaurant gets beef right. Also, don't pass on appetizers. We went with the onion soup and it was tremendous. My wife wanted a bit more flavor out of the lobster pasta dish but it was perfectly cooked. Friendly service and beautifully cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend!

High end bar and restaurant, serving dishes made with iconic Canadian produce. Tad expensive, but a very good experience if you're visiting Montreal, especially from across the pond.

An absolutely delicious meal. We were a party of 7 and everyone thourghly enjoyed every aspect. The staff, service, and food were top notch.

This was an exceptional meal. The King Salmon tartar was unique and spectacular. The bison burger was perfectly balanced with onion jam, bacon, and pickles, and green beans in garlic butter were cooked to perfection. The Bordeaux by the glass was also delicious. The decor is warm and rustic, and the staff was friendly at attentive. Truly a perfect meal experience of its type.
