My boss Angelo treated lunch at Marven's today. Delicious food. Incredible service. A delightful experience. A big thank you to our waiter Jimmy, Gus the chef and our gracious host, Steve, the owner of the establishment.

I ate with my friend today. The waiter didnt serve us the complimentary bread. When i asked him are you serving everyone bread and he said yes. He pretended that his co waiter forgot to serve us but in fact he's the one bringing to everyone. Just next time try to treat all your customers fairly.

Their Gyros are out of this world. Service is always exceptional. They work well with the space they have

Une première expérience mais toute une expérience, bouffe, c'est le Canadiens de Montréal en culotte de velours, portions extrêmement généreuse, service incroyable et les serveurs très professionnel et très beaux, le seul petit défaut ce qui a pas d'accès pour personnes handicapées et ils prennent seulement l'argent comptant mais il y a un guichet au sous-sol mais le reste, ça coche bravo xoxoxo et plus

My pork chop was under cooked and salty. The fries and rice were totally dry. Calamari was good. Also, had to wait like 45 mins to get a table and they only take cash another.

The food here takes you to a happy place. We had the two pita gyro platter, you can have it with either pork or chicken, and we shared. These are big plates, with salad, rice and potatoes. So make sure to bring your appetite

Service was fast and efficient, we came for a late lunch. This place is usually packed for dinner.

One last thing, they accept cash only here, there's an ATM machine downstairs, and there's a 2,99$ fee, so plan accordingly and get some hard currency before coming here.

Have been coming here for over 20 years and i have to say its still phenominal! Keep up the good work boys

The food I had was delicious. But many items on the menu were not available and it was a surprise that they only accept cash.

Sad story really! If your looking for lots of food and you dont care about quality this is the place! Ive been there ablut 200 times but today its my last! Everything is made on the fast touch! Maybe its time to change the kitchen people that have obviously given up!

Make sure your stomach is empty before going there! Small neighborhood restaurant with amazing food, always the same taste! The steak and lamb chops are tender and perfectly cooked! The fried calamari is a must have!

It's a must for us, we come here every time we go to Montréal, this place never disappoints! Still the best lamb chops I've had. Calamari is in point! Still the best for me.

The size is big and the price is reasonable. Also, the service is very welcoming and the foods are delicious.

This is the type of restaurant you would like to bring your friend or event a night out for some casual foods.

Always great to come back and expect the same great taste of greek food. Tasty fries, lamb chops, gyros and fried calamari! Generous portions of salad too!

Me and my friend decided to grab lunch at Marven's last week and had a good experience. A fried calamari, seemingly a specialty as it featured on everyone's table, was light and crisp, and accentuated by a homemade hot sauce. I opted for a souvlaki and potatoes for my main, and I enjoyed both. The souvlaki was a little greasy, however, tzatziki and an array of fresh vegetables helped to cut through the richness. I also enjoyed adding the homemade hot sauce liberally on everything, and for a well made and very reasonably priced souvlaki, I'd visit Marven's.

Food is not what it used to be. Long waits to get in, gyros & Souvlaki Pitas filled with Fat/scrap pieces. Cheap on their lemon when you order calamari. Thanks for ruining my birthday dinner 2 years in a row.

This place is as old school as they get. Don't expect fancy but you get your money's worth.
Just wish they would bring back the calamari with the tentacles like they had back in the day.
And if I'm going to push my luck reminiscing. Mr. Marvens please bring back the stuffed animals on the walls (people still came even if "few " didnt like while the majority will say gave this place a unmatchable charm and character) and the jukebox machines which made this place other worldly and a place of legends

What an amazing family run Greek restaurant in Montreal I can’t say enough good things about this place. From the freshest food to the amazing service it’s all top class when it comes to the Greek experience. Was just passing through quick this time visiting from Toronto to grab some of my most favourite Calamari in the country and it tasted just as good for takeout as it does dining in, I was really impressed. I can’t wait to come back again and give a full review on all my other favourites

I only had the calamari to go and it was incredible. They were lightly battered and fresh. The sauce compliments it well, just ask for extra. If the rest of the food is as good then this place is a hidden gem in a quiet neighborhood in Montreal.

Total disappointment. The souvlaki pitas were horrible. Meat was dry and pita was moist like they were warmed in microwave. Trust me I've eaten thousands of pitas from far and wide. Chicken pita was ok
Fries caused seriously bloating on whole group. The squid were dry and you can feel the flour in your mouth. The worst part was the place was filthy you could shovel up the crumbs off the floor. No excuse since it was beginning of supper 4 employees standing around. They had time before 3 and 5 to vaccum. They only started to vacuum when place was half full. You don't do that! Waiter was excellent though and very friendly. On top of it when Bill arrived he said cash only! Please put a sign up saying that at front door since some people don't want to get rammed paying and extra $3.50 for corner guichet fee.

Update 2021: I went back, I think Covid made a lot of restaurants change the way they proceed and how much they charge. Calamari went up, though the portions are generous now. Calamari is as good as my first time visiting Marvens back in 2008. The pitas were generous, though the chicken was on the dry side, with very little sauce inside. Yet, for their defence, it’s probably for now as most restaurants are struggling with their supplies.

2017: Not has good as it used to be. More expensive and smaller portions.

Il y a plusieurs années on m'avait dis que j'avait un des meilleurs restos Grec a Montreal tout près de chez moi.
La 1 er fois que j'y suis allé très très bien l 2 ie fois encore mieux. Mais jeudi soir dernier a cause de la pandémie on a du appeler et aller chercher il me manquait un pita a la commande, l'assiette de Calamarri était on aurait dis réchauffé pas très bon. Ce resto a dèja fait mieux

Délicieux! Je connais le restaurant depuis au moins 10 ans, jamais déçu. Je recommande les calamars et l’agneau. Très bonne qualité et portions très généreuses.

On est allée la vielle du jour de l'an vers 16h rt il n y'avait pas de l'attente du tout.le restaurants est très charmant on se sent chez soi.le serveur était formidable, souriant, adorable attentif et sait comment parler et donner de la valeur a ses clients.on a commandé une entrée qu'on a partagé à deux et c'était bon. On a eu des grands plats, les quantités étaient énormes et la qualité que du positive.j'ai adoré la place, l'ambiance, le serveur et surtout la bouffe.pour donner une idée: on a pris une entrée plus deux assiettes crevettes et steak et ca a coûté environ 75 $ avec taxes mais sans pourboire.le seul inconvénient c'est qu'il accepte ONLY CASH.donc prévoyez de l'argent sinon y a un atm sur place.je recommande ce restaurent

The food is great and portions are generous. Their house sauce is amazing on everything. Taste like an Italian salad dressing. They removed the doner from the menu which is unfortunate. It was the best doner I have had. Cash only.

Apart qu'on doit que payer comptant et faire de longues files pour y rentrer, leurs plats sont toujours bon, j'adore leurs calmars et le steak. Je vous le recommande si vous avez très faim. Service à la clientèle pas pire en vus qu'ils ont toujours pleins de clients.

Large portions, affordable for everyone, fresh, tasty, well done, lightning service. Would give it five stars.tiny place, packed, lines. If they tripled the size, would make crazy.

10/19/2018 visit had awesome food (as always) can't leave there hungry (more than generous portions) Service was almost zero. Waitress looked like she hated her job, never once came and asked how the food was would you like coffee or desert just anything else? Left me wondering if they even offer coffee or desert.found out at checkout time they only accept cash, luckily i had barely enough on me to cover and tip and only found out today reading other reviews that they may have an ATM on site but the waitress never mentioned that. Anyone know of any other businesses that do not accept debit/credit? Time to speed up to 2018 Marven!

I thought i went into a food bank, extremely crowded and stuffy, you can not move your seat backward, not even one inch, because you will be hitting somebody's back. Their seat capacity is over the legal limit as they've tried to use all the space to make the most for their business, I feel very uncomfortable and you can find their salad all over the floor. Side dish, french fries is bad, tastes bitter and oily.you won't enjoy the food under this atmosphere.
As for the food, it is mediocre and not worth for the money, nothing special! Will never return!

Went here for lunch after not going back here for 10 years. Nothing was glaringly wrong, we just discovered better Greek places. The taste was good, but great. Portions were large and price was fair. Their tzatziki is good, but very different. Calamari was tender, souvlaki was good. Only issue was the chicken in the pita was dry.

Great food! Friendly staff! Cozy atmosphere as it's a restaurant in a "house". Very fairly priced.lots of parking around. The reason I'm giving it 5 stars is because the wait time can be long.there is no system for waiting (they dont take names of those waiting and people constantly skip others in line). The waiting area is too small and line up reaches till outside making it hard to go out/come in.it's a cash only place.our water had "black dots" in it.they dont have butter for the bread.

This place is to die for! Big portions great food and decent price for what you get. It is worth the wait even if it's a big line up. The only thing i hate is they only take cash.
You can't come here and not try the calamari entree it's super soft and chewy and it's big pieces could be shared with others but trust me when you will try it you will forget about the sharing part! The rib steak is to die for as well as the chicken is delicious! Everything we tried here has been more than amazing! The staff is amazing except on girl but who cares when you have that yummy food infront of you

Habitué de cet endroit et pour y etre allé plusieurs fois nous avons été amèrement décus! Apres avoir manqué la cuisson de nos viandes ils ont eue l audace de les remettre sur le grill.nous avions mangé nos salades.quelques frites et du riz avec nos fourchettes.manquement a l hygiene de remettre nos viandes que nous avions touché sur le grill! Donc pour une deuxieme fois nos steaks n avaient pas la bonne cuisson.ils nous ont refait nos steaks.mauvaise cuisson encore sans rien nous proposer.ni reduction ni gratuitée.amerement decus et nous retourneront surement plus a ce marvens que nous aimont avant

Reasonable price for the size of the dishes. But it's a hit or a miss. The dishes can be cooked well, or the dishes can be overcooked/under-cooked.
Take Cash only (be aware of high charges when using ATM machine). Very Stuffy - the restaurant seriously needs the better ventilation.
Expect a long line most of the times. Can't reserve.

Get cash, or get ripped off! Small not comfortable, ordinary nothing special! It's a factory of food, nothing special about it! But every one knows it! I couldn't enjoy my meal because the waiter's was on my back side all the time. Kicking my chair, spilling water, well it's hard to enjoy food in any restaurant. It needs a revamp of enlargement, and it needs a update. The meal arrived fast and the calamari was very good! Plate's are generous and get ready to take home. My advice, order out and eat at home.

Hole in the wall vibe from the outside. Nicely renovated with a cozy atmosphere in the inside. Great food, great service and large portions of yummy Greek food. Bring cash cause they don't take any plastic (not even debit!)

I been going to Marvens for the last 32 years. Great fast food Greek food, the place is well laid out and the service is quite fast with well-informed staff who can guide you with some recommendations. We always order same food for the table and we share calamari, lamb chops and mash room and it’s always excellent. The location is kind of in the middle of nowhere, there is not really any other restaurants nearby but worth the small detour. You could wait 45 minutes Friday and Saturday to be seated.

First time to eat in this restaurant. It was quite busy when we went here. My family waited a couple of minutes to be seated. We placed our order. Service was fast, like in 5 minutes, our food was served (pita souvlaki and squid plate). No complaints about the food, everything was seasoned well. Portions are big. Seating is quite cramped but I did not feel uncomfortable. When it was time to pay, that's the time we had to wait for a while. Just had to understand that our server was busy. All in all, it was a nice experience.

This place still is one of the best place to have fried calamari, however, the other food item have not on par with the quality of calamari. That been said, the service and the staff are very welcoming and eager even at last hour of the day.
