This is one of several high-quality comfort shoe stores near the corner of Wellington and de L’église. I usually hit up the discount place on the end first to look for any random deals, then progress to this store. I think I like it the most of the three on de L’église.
The brands sold here are distinctive because they are very stylish, with a bit of European flair; in particular, they have very distinctive red leather boots and shoes. I will say that overall, the shoes themselves tend to run a bit narrow, and you may struggle if you have a higher instep, but the employees will help out if you need other sizes.
I like that the store lists the available sizes on the bottom of the shoe so you can see at a glance what is available. It’s always worth it to check with the employee about what you’re looking for, however. This past week I went with a friend who has struggled to find larger women’s sizes, and the employee told us that they actually have the larger sizes set aside in the back for easy access. I’ve had success here with two friends who needed extra help finding shoes: the aforementioned friend with large feet, and another friend with very small feet. My partner has also found stylish and comfortable men’s winter boots here. He accidentally bought essentially the same pair twice in a row, two years apart, because he liked them so much.
I have found that sometimes there is only one employee working at certain times, and a decent shoe-trying-on-session can take some time. I don’t feel that they are necessarily understaffed, but if the employee is busy, you might consider looking at the shoes stores to the left or right, or even around the corner at Chausseurs Dupuis, and then returning to try on something you like.
I’ve never found the employees to be rude. They aren’t very pushy about selling the shoes, which I guess some people might feel like is not stellar service, but I’m not bothered by that. They are never irritated if you have to try on a bunch of shoes because you have an unusual size or difficult feet (me), and while I don’t expect them to serve me in English, they are very gracious about doing so.
Also, if you come during the right time of year, they have good sales. My friend just picked up a nice pair of heels for $30, for example. Hot tip: Keep an eye out for the sidewalk sales in the neighbourhood, and then go by as soon as you can. Just leave the size 42s for me, okay?
