Rôtisserie Coco Rico - Portuguese Chicken

The chicken is great and delicious, but those potatoes, omg they're amazing! Had to do take out, took it home and heated everything in the oven, even the chicken can be reheated in its own bag it came in! And the natas for dessert! Couldn't help eating one even though I was full!

Poutine was swimming in an unpleasant amount of incredibly peppery gravy. Couldn’t taste anything else

Toujours bon même si souvent les viandes sont trop cuites. Le poulet est de bonne qualité. Les pommes de terre sont aussi trop cuites. Pastel de nata trop sucrées mais… le goût y est vraiment. Si vous cherchez du goût et que vous n avez peut ni du sucre ni du gras ni du sel alors c est un endroit à essayer à Montréal pour de la cuisine portugaise qui a un air de cuisine familiale réconfortante et de qualité.

A bit of a hole in the wall is is exactly my jam. The food is great and the atmosphere is perfect. Definitely stop here when you’re in the area. ️️️️️

Great Portugese chicken and omg the potatoes are outstanding! Given the good price, I can understand the maintenance of the place is a bit dates but who cares, good food and friendly people are all we need:)

Ordered a family meal from uber eats. The chicken was very good and juicy, but I was extremely disappointed with the sides. The potatoes sent to me seemed old. The tomatoes in the family size salad were not fresh (resembling like they were about to go bad).

This place was a great discovery. The lady at the counter was very kind to us and had infectious energy.

The food was fantastic and filling. The sausage sandwich I had with the potatoes and pickle tasted fantastic. The poutine I had as takeout was also very good. I'm definitely coming back to eat there again if I'm in the neighborhood.

I was really hopeful, and I really hate leaving a bad review, but this ended up being an awful meal. We ordered it through UberEats,
so we gave some wiggle room for how it arrived, but ultimately it tasted just - bad.

First: Pork sandwich. The meat was dried out and gray, and the bun was so stale that my wife couldn't eat it. She's Portuguese and stated it was the worst she's had.

Second: Sauce. I got the spicy sauce, but it honestly tasted like chili oil mixed with Italian dressing. Fascinatingly bad.

Third: Fries. They were both overcooked and soggy, there was little to no salt, and the oil tasted flabby and old. We put them in our air fry to see if they were improved but it just made our place smell like bad oil. We ate the meat, but in spite of being folks who try to avoid food waste (and money waste) we tossed the rest.

The only thing we had that was done well was chicken: it wasn't dry.

I'm sorry to leave such a bad review, but it was genuinely disappointing. I hope it was just an off day.

I used to get the chicken here but since going mostly veg I stick to their delicious round roasted potatoes that are a fun, somewhat healthy (the oil definitely reduces the healthy points but so worth it lol) and economical snack. They’re a community oriented business, they leave food outside at night for people in need which is so thoughtful especially for where they’re situated

Anytime im anywhere remotely near MTL I'll make a pit stop downtown to snag a couple of sandwiches.

Everything they serve is perfect. Service, and food is ELITE.

Chicken is not Portuguese chicken, it's basic chicken that you find in IGA. Ribs and Nata are really good

Found it expensive for what it was.

I ordered two pastel de nata and they forgot to put in my bag never returning again (even if is for the pastel de nata) i even tip for take out like cmon and the food is dry

Ordered chicken poutine. Was given breast meat that was very dry. Gravy is typical brown sauce and the spicy sauce added had no flavor. Fries were crispy. Unsure if the quarter chicken dinners are better but I will not revisit.

After dinner nearby, stopped here for an egg tart (pastei de nata).
It was delicious!
And Maria offers you a special ingredient that elevates the tart to the next level.
Had it warm, recently out of the oven, so full of custard!

First time ordering at Coco Rico, went for a chicken poutine. The fries, the cheese and the chicken were delicious by themselves, but the sauce was so salty that it was overpowering the rest of the ingredients. I couldn't finish my plate because of how salty it was. My guess would be that it is powder based and hasn't been diluted enough. It might be an honest mistake, or maybe the owners like their sauce very salty.

I am a Montreal food blogger and have an instagram profile (@abbiethegourmand). I went to Coco Rico today (Sun, May 09 around 2-2: 30pm) with my wife and ordered some chorizo and a jumbo potato.

I am a loyal customer of Coco-Rico since 2016. But, I was a bit disappointed with my experience today. You guys are allowing 4 customers in the store due to COVID19 which is completely acceptable. I entered with my wife (2) and there were another couple (2) waiting at the cash to pay. So, in total there were 4 customers inside the store. While we were discussing and finalizing our order, a lady from behind the counter with a strong French accent, asked my wife to step out of the store so that another customer can step in. My wife immediately stepped out.

So, here is my point. A decent customer will always try to be quick, make payment and step out. As we did not violate any rule pertaining to COVID19, we expect the staff to be patient and let the customer finish their order. The staff should rather not focus on the customer waiting outside. The person waiting outside can rather wait and ideally will only enter when the existing customer steps out (just like most stores).

I would expect that you would train the staff accordingly and allow your customers to at least decide on the order and not kick them out. We did finish our order in about 5-6 minutes. Everyone wants to follow the rules. But too much rush sometimes is a sign of insecurity and does not look good on the part of the business.

I hope you will read my review and pay attention to my point. Being a loyal customer, I felt like sharing my views as this never happened before. Anyone else could have taken this issue as a racial remark.

Very boring sandwich: ( (literally just chicken and bread; no veggies, no cheese, nothing else). The fries and potatoes are good though.

sevice NOT gentille with customer, she had wrong calculated, i told her corrected, she does not listening and i buy potatoes she does not want to sale for me (my order Rabbit)

First time going there and the service was really rough and borderline rude.

Asked for a normal poutine with no chicken and they told me it was the same price which was kinda weird but I didn't make a big deal out of it.

I asked if I could have some sort of empty container so I could share with my friend (we were going to eat at the park), trying to take precautions for COVID by not eating from the same container, and the cashier who was already kinda rude just looked at me and said "50 cents. " and looked annoyed to even give me a second fork.

I've worked in many restaurants/bars and businesses in the food sector and I never seen a place charge for empty containers. It's kinda shameful and ironic they think it's ok to charge for chicken that isn't there but feel the need to charge you for a container or plate during a pandemic. There are a lot of other small businesses in that area I'd rather support in the future.

Le pain de maïs portugais est à essayer! Les meilleures natas fraîches. Les patates sont excellentes, les viandes aussi.

La propriétaire est vraimebt gentille. Service impeccable. Les frites sont magiques. Le poulet est bien juteux. Cest juste parfait. Et la portion de frite est genereuse!

The BEST portuguese restaurant in ALL of Montreal hands down. Each menu items is made with love that only family can offer, you taste it in the potatoes as they are slowly roasted. You taste it in the juices and spices of the chicken as it explodes with flavor. You can taste the perfect bread blending into a simple sandwich made in heaven. The ambiance is one of hard working passion and I would recommend ANYONE stop by for a quick meal as it's an opportunity to truly be met with food fit for a king.

We went to buy at another restaurant but as we were passing by we noticed some people lining up, since our little boy loves roasted chicken we decided to try the roasted chicken and boy we loved every part of it we never tasted chicken this good! Definitely coming back.

My go-to place for a delicious Portuguese chicken sandwich and round, roasted potatoes. The chicken is always savory (I order it with spicy sauce). I highly recommend.

Sincèrement, le poulet a peu de goût, les côté levé aussi.on demande épicé ca ne l'est aucunement. Meme pas un peu. Aucun gout. Appart les patates roties qui étaient bonnes, le reste vraiment banale.jai dépenser 40$ dans le vide. J'aurais du aller ailleurs.

The ownership changed here a couple of years ago, and their prices have nearly doubled. They don't let you substitute anything, and what used to be a combo is now individually weighed and charged. I will miss going here, after being a customer for 20 years!

J’y vais depuis plus de 30 ans, malheureusement dernièrement les prix ont beaucoup augmentés et les portions diminuées. A l’époque, c’était un bon snack sur le pouce pour le prix, mais aujourd’hui, a ce prix la, autant aller chez shwartz ou autre, car on parle quand meme de simple sandwich au poulet BBQ avec patate, rien de couteux qui sort de l’ordinaire. On peut trouver un bon poulet piri piri sur charbon a ce prix et avec une salle à manger digne de ce nom.

Les employé (e) s sont poli (e) s et je respecte le gagne pain de ces respectables employé (e) s, donc c'est pour cela que je note 4/5. J'espère que ce commentaire tout en mesure fera office d'étalon dans vos mesures.

Ma mère m'y amenait quand j'étais petite. On vivait à Montréal, je vis dans Lanaudière, à 1h15 de la rotisserie et ca vaut le trajet. Mêmes excellentes recettes, prix très abordables, les employés sont gentils. Aucune grande chaîne de rotisseries ne peut rivaliser avec tout ça.

Im really sad! Disnt want to rate it since i was going to this place as a kid with my family! I mean the quality to a low price isnt there anymore! I mean the chicken is dry, the potatoes that once were melting in your mouth are dry, the ribs are out of price and juat tried a mini piece of chorizo for 3$ and lord that was the dryest and oilest ever! So for 33$ i got half a chicken 3 ribs and a piece of chorizo! I mean! But to each his own! Lost treasures!

I see some posts about how this place used to be better, but those people might be suffering from rosy retrospection. I went to this place after walking by many times and being tempted by the great smells and it was a fantastic decision. Great prices, fantastic food, and very friendly staff. The chicken was tender, perfectly seasoned, and delicious.

Ive just uber eat from this place and wow it's really good! The prices are great and the potatoes in the spicy sauce are to die for! Honnestly it's the best place to Uber eat from cuz the potatoes will stay good not like fries when you deliver they usually arrive soggy and not tasty but the roasted potatoes arrived fresh hot and the perfect texture the chicken was tender juicy and really flavorful the only thing I didn't like was the coleslaw for me personally I would of liked more vinegar but that depends on your taste so it still gets a 5star!

Cet établissement devrait cesser de proposer une poutine sur son menu.

1. Les frites n’étaient pas assez cuites
2. La sauce était fade et ne semblait pas être maison
3. Le poulet était tendre mais une plus grande quantité aurait été bienvenue.

5. Le service était très désorganisé. Une fois ma commande payée la caissière a filé préparer des salades. Un autre membre du personnel est alors venu déposer un contenant pour emporter devant moi sans dire un seul mot. La caissière ne revenant pas j’en ai déduis que c’était ma commande et je suis parti avec après plusieurs minutes d’hésitation. Comme c’est la Covid les clients entrent 5 à la fois donc je me demande ce que ferait le personnel en temps normal puisqu’il semble déjà débordé.

Honnêtement quand je vois d’autre rôtisserie faire des poutines au même prix avec plus de poulet, du chorizo bien grillé et une sauce qui goûte le Portugal. Je suis extrêmement déçu.

Quand on tiens un restaurant il faut faire des choix et choisir les plats que l’on réussi le mieux. La rôtisserie Coco Rico ne fait malheureusement pas de bonne poutine.

Delicious bbq chicken I eat there since the 60s when my father had the supermarket p&L grocery on one and colonial and brought us chicken from cocorico they know how to bbq
Now making could be tricky cause their could be bones inside just mention it to the person that fixes them everything else perfect

Yummy portugaise chicken and pork ribs! Their specialty sauce is amazing! Its great price for a good quality food. The staff are very friendly too.

My new go-to poutine place! Large portions for a reasonable price. One of the workers - her name is Conception - she is just amazing. I told her I was learning French, and she kept helping me speak French, which I really appreciated. She deserves a raise/promotion!

The quality has gone downhill over the past years. Chicken was dry. Just doesn't compare to the new portugese chicken places which have copiously sprung up around it.
