Routes Car Rental

When I made the reservation, the confirmation email did not make any mention of a $500 deposit and for certain provinces it’s $1500. I’ve rented cars in the past and it’s only been $150/$200 so I was really taken back by that upon arrival. On the way to my destination the windshield wiper fluid was completely empty, that was within an hour of driving the car. It’s obviously the dead of winter in Quebec, windshield wiper fluid is mandatory and they also did not leave a brush in the vehicle so after snowing for 3 days and freezing temperatures, I couldn’t even see out my blind spot while driving back. These things are basic. I had to call 5 times, I finally reached someone and they put me on hold and then hung up. When I called back and got a hold of someone they had no answers for me, said I had to email and wait 2 days for a response from the owner.disappointing

Renting with Routes was a great experience. Very fast and easy from prompt pick up at the airport to easy check in process with Karla. Will use again in the future.

J'ai réservé une voiture pour 19h et dans le courriel reçu l'heure de fermeture du bureau n'est pas mentionnée.
Je suis arrivé à 21h00 et le bureau était fermé.
J'ai du prendre un Uber à 55 $ pour rentrer à Montréal.
Et vu que ce n'est pas remboursable j'ai du prendre un autre Uber pour récupérer le véhicule.
Je déconseille.

Definitely NOT recommended.
The good:
1.its inexpensive
2.the employees are great
3.there is shuttle service
The bad:
1.the car I got was beat: bald tires (luck I didn't get a flat), dented front bumper and hood
2.car steering wheel had an annoying vibration at highway speed - a result or worn tires that are out of balance
3.came with only half tank of gas
4.the fact that the rental company is NOT located at the airport is intentionally well disguised. Your rental car pickup is not far from the airport but it does require you to call Routes to request a shuttle.
5, better more easily available instructions are needed on what to do to get your routes rental car - you shouldnt have to search to find it - the company might want to think about providing that info up-front

The BAD part 2.
After reading my review the company responded (see below) asking me to contact them to resolve the matter. So I wasted my time writing to them - Routes resolution was to tell me how my bad, unsafe and dangerous driving situation would be taken into account and used to improve customer service going forward. Huge lol. As a result Im downgrading them from 2 stars to 1 star. Do not recommend. And, Im going to share my experience with everyone via social media.

Great experience with my one day rental. Staff were very welcoming and friendly.

Terrible company. They charge way more than what they say they will for locals and will not refund you if you complain. It said unlimited mileage but it’s not. Lies, lies, lies. This company should not exist.

They also ask for a lot of personal documents and way more money on your credit card for so-called insurance.

Service was arrogant and completely useless in helping to fix the problem.

Burn this s**t to the ground.

Great vehicles and great service. Timely arrival to airport as well using the shuttle service.

Terrible rental company, total scam, I booked the car rental for July, which is more than 3 months out, I had to cancel within a couple of hours of my reservation. The full amount is charged and no one in customer service will give me information on whether I get refund or at least a credit! There is no place on their website says what their refund policy is. $300+ gone like that! Never booking with them ever again! Until today, no one got back to me! Online customer service email address does not reply to you at all. No phone number provided and I booked directly through their official website!

BE WARNED: These guys don't accept Quebec drivers licenses IN QUEBEC if they are not the new type. It felt like when you go to your friend's uncle's garage to borrow his car! This kind of place should not be allowed to operate ESPECIALLY AT AN AIRPORT LOCATION. Please update your technology FAST.

Forget all stereotypes you have heard about car rental companies and meet this amazing company and their superb manager. Karan was extraordinarily helpful and flexible. I had to exchange my car in another city and he did everything to make it happen at no extra costs. He took care of another problem, which wasn’t company’s fault, very professionally. Karan also overstayed in the office so I can return the car. I am so impressed by their customer service level and their sense of caring. Highly recommend.

Had a good experience with the Routes car rental services, was quick and fast in getting us the vehicle on time

The car was clean and the staff was nice and understanding.my only gripes is that 200 km is very limiting.

Car type as expected, the driving experience was great. The staff was very helpful, maybe some particular details concerning coverage vs.insurance on the website would help clarify some issues.

Expérience Très désagréable et peu professionnel. Si tu es "local", on te demande de faire un dépôt de 1500 $ alors que clients qui viennent d'ailleurs c'est 500$. Très insultant comme situation. Plus jamais.

Their staff is very welcoming from the shuttles driver to guy who is managing the office. The car that I got is very good in condition and easy to drive. It was fuel efficient too. Definitely I rent a car next time too.
