Love this resutant, amazing. Everytime I go, I really like it. As a big fan of this resturant, I do not think it is a middle eastern resturant anymore, it is more like an italian resturant. However, I still love there.
I ate here this summer and it was an absolutely magical dining experience!
Rich aromatic spices from the silk road in delicious dishes, Sparkling lights and twisting vines on the artistic wrought-iron decorative fence in the garden terrace…
The poetic name of the restaurant had enticed me every time I rode my bike past, and when I finally took a date to sit down and eat there, the experience was well worth the wait! I eagerly anticipate my next meal there!
I’ve been meaning since summer to write a review of this oh-so-worthy restaurant, now I’m sitting in an airport so it’s a good moment to catch up, and savor this delicious, dare I even say, Sublime memory!
And that’s not a word I use lightly, or that I have ever used about a restaurant before…
This is a wonderful restaurant. My 3rd time here. The food is gourmet and I consider this to be one of the best restaurants in Montreal, Quebec. I’ve been here with my family from out of town also. I will definitely return again one day.
We went for a musical show which was a great addition to the ambience. The food was good but a bit expensive for the portions and quality. We paid over a 100$ for 2 including tax, tip and spectacle fee (8$/person), and we only had a soup each, a juice and shared a main meal. Service was a bit long too.
Very unique fusion of middle eastern, persian, and mediterranean cusine. Atmosphere and decor is very well represented. We had lentil curry soup, grilled calamari, fried cheese with arugola to start. Our main course was lamb focused with a grilled rack for one and oven roasted shank adorned with a variety of nuts for the other. Service was handled well by only 2 servers for the entire establishment. You won't be disappointed. It is expensive however typical for 'these days' of inflation.
Food was amazing, the taste and the design both were great, the rest needs great improvement. 1- I had a reservation for 5 people, they gave us a table for 4. (the waiter was not the politest), he told us the restaurant was going to be packed, while half of the place remained empty till the end. 2- the quality of sound system was very poor, at some point the volume was so high that everyone got quiet and shocked. 3- the bill shows no details or breakdown of the order, they added the tip and gave us only the final price.
Very Expensive, small portions, just 4 sticks of lamb racks+mashed potato for $42. The mocktale drink tasted like supermarket juice. Will never go again!
Barely anyone working. The taste and quantity of food has decreased in quality since a couple of months ago when I first went. When paying, my friend was harassed and questioned for tipping 15% when she should’ve tipped zero because the service and quality was bad. The waiter made a rude comment as we were leaving. Definitely don’t recommend
I had been here years before and had enjoyed it, but this time the experience was subpar. Appetizers were ordinary and bland, main plates were average at best and the service was quasi inexistant. We had to wait over 45 minutes just to pay the bill.
We got refused on our anniversary on a Wednesday evening 8h15 pm, when the restaurant was not even half capacity under the pretence they were overwhelmed and short staffed, while the head chef was chitchatting with the waiter outside on the terrasse. I previously called about an hour before to inquire if there was a special menu, she answered politely but it would have been nice if she could have told us that they weren’t taking any more customers if that was the case. We saw 3 people walk in before us and 2 people after us. We used to love going to Rumi, and we don’t think we will ever return and neither would ever recommend that place again to anyone. VERY DISAPPOINTING!
First time here! I heard about this place. Tasty and delicious food. Great environment and clean! Unfortunately 0 for the service! Also hard to find parking spots!
Overall ambiance is ok and the gentleman who took care of our table was very pleasant and courteous. The quality of the food is pretty low and their appetizer portions are tiny. Key menu items were not available.
Delicious Mediterranean dishes with a very cosy atmosphere, right between the Plateau and the Mile End. Their cuisine is a fusion of Turkish, Iranian and Indian, making for interesting and complex recipes.
I’ll definitely be going back to try their desserts!
Very disappointed. The Malik dish was very unappetizing, looked like bad pulled pork, but it's lamb. Was very difficult to eat and even harder to stomach, and that's not the worst of it. There were 2 long black hairs in the hummus which killed the entire experience. Did not bother complaining as the energy was drained from us.
Dommage!
The atmosphere is really cozy and felt like I escaped to someplace else… a café in Istanbul perhaps. It felt really nice for a cold winter night and especially charming for a date. I ordered the chicken dish with traditional persian styled rice. The chicken was great but the rice was very strange and far too sweet. It was more like shereen polo (a sweet rice dish) with added shredded cooked carrot which really felt more like there was carrot jam in my rice… not a fan! We had the moelleux chocolate cake and ice cream, was just as expected. I would definitely go back but try another dish and regular rice.
Food absolutely lovely. Everything is yummy. The lentil soup is out of the world. Warm decor and friendly staff to check on us regularly despite a super full Sat night.
I asked them Koobideh but they suggest me Darvish and told me is similar, I trust them and try but test completely different and not delicious.expensive for nothing
I was really disappointed by the food. The portion was small as if they were giving you samples of the food. You can eat much better taste and portion at different middle eastern restaurants. The service was ok.
Long straight hair (about 10cm) was in food delivered (rice part) we called the restaurant right away, the young lady on the phone said “oh I think I know to whom it belongs let me check with manager… then came back and said that we have to call delivery party no appologies nothing, we said we can bring it back to show you guys that we hadn’t touch the food it’s disgusting but she just said can’t do anything about it, we spent 40 min chatting with app that wouldn’t refund the whole amount and had to order elsewhere, while sending pictures and fighting to get our money back, Very bad service
A Tasteful fusion of middle-eastern food from Morocco to Afghanistan. Great service, exceptional dessert and Persian tea to end. Absolutely recommend an evening on the patio. Mehran’s Hard lemonade with Arak
A restaurant to absolutely try with a Chef and his staff that details are observed. A meal you will appreciate!
The service was very good, the atmosphere inviting and lovely. The reason why I gave it 3 stars was I found the food overpriced and underwhelming. I ordered a seabass that was 35$ that came with basmati rice. I will not argue that the food served was good quality and tasted fresh but I found it bland and had to add salt to everything something I rarely do even at home. The tabbouleh was dry. I ate my meal but it wasn't something I would rave about to others or come again in the future.
My friends and I were having a great time at Rumi’s; the food was delicious however there were glaring issues with the service and the décor. While the restaurant prides itself on its eponymity, no actual paraphernalia relating to Rumi is actually present in the restaurant save for a few Arabic books on the shelves and religious writing scribbled on the walls. I found the authenticity of the intended vibe to be diluted as a result.
More importantly, the servers were rude and their behavior lacked common courtesy. My friend was verbally degraded for having mistakenly skipped the tip option on the POS machine which as you can guess ruined our night. The server did not pause to apologize for her outburst and flung the receipt at my friend. I really did not expect this type of service from a restaurant of this caliber which pretentiously upholds itself on the pillars of this great mystic. Disappointed.
Always a pleasant experience. Well planned brunch and dinner menus, food made with high quality ingredients and service is superb. You might wait a bit but food is made fresh and you can see the chef preparing your meal.
Dislike.
This restaurant was such a great discovery! The food was delicious and tasteful. The portions were great and our waiter was friendly as well! I ordered the Sultan with the potato wedges as a side, everything was good: the lamb and vegetables were well cooked and the rice had a good texture. My friends tried the lemonade with mint and they loved it! It was very refreshing. I would recommend Rumi to my other friends and would go back!:)
Great place to enjoy wonderful food in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff is very friendly, charming and accommodating! The meat dishes melt in your mouth and are delicately perfumed with spices pleasing to the palate! Truly recommended.sunny summer days on their terrace and the winter inside their cozy setting! A presto!
It’s not delicious for golf country.more sweet, salty It’s good for some ppl but not for golf country and Egyptian or Jordanian.very expensive for nothing
Food was good and the restaurant is beautiful and cozy. Service was also good but there was something I didn't agree with. I was there for breakfast. I ordered eggs with spinach. The plate came with roasted potatoes, but since I don't really care for potatoes I asked the server if I could get a naan bread instead. On the menu, potatoes were $4.5 and naan was $2.5, so I thought I wasn't asking much. She said yes, so I had my bread instead of the potatoes.
When I paid I noticed I was actually charged for the bread I had instead of the potaties, not in addition. It's not the biggest deal but I wouldn't really expect anyone with common sense to charge me 20$ for two eggs and a piece of bread. Have some decency, people.
The place is nice but it's not worth it. If you want breakfast you're better off across the street, at the croissanterie.
