I had the pleasure of visiting Saint Patrick's Basilica on my birthday, and I must say, the interiors were absolutely stunning. The ambiance exudes a sense of tranquility, providing a truly calming experience. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and highly recommend it to others seeking a serene and memorable outing.
Great, old church to escape into when in downtown Montreal. Free entry and it’s usually quiet and serene. I love to come here to meditate, enjoy the architecture, or even just to warm up indoors and read.
Saint Patrick’s Basillica is a beautiful church. Here is why…
1) It is English. 2) It has beautiful paintings and some of the nicest designs 3) The building and facade is important and I hope they keep it that way for generations to come.
They need more Church candles and they need to make it environmentally friendly in the future.
A must see when you visit Montreal, located between Saint Catherine Street and Vieux Port, Free Entry, from outside it looks basic but when you enter the church it’s magical, like a glimpse from the past, Beautiful architecture. An amazing park is being built next to it, i’d give more than 5 stars.
So sad that most of the tourist who went does not have respect at all. They don't care if there is some people who went there just to pray, and these people are keep on taking pictures.
It is one of the Oldest Basilica in Montreal since 1847; and I work there especially so I have explored each corner with specific knowledge. The speciality is on top of the Altar, there are two Colour glasses which gives the exotic rainbow effect in the noon when the sun is bright. Church has 117 picture of Saints all over the walls including two big image of Saint Patricks in the corner. Currently, the paster is Monsignor Coyle who is very respected and honourable priest in the Basilica. Because of covid, Basilica opens at 11: 30am for 12: 10pm weekly Masses and on weekend there are different time schedules (Saturday-5pm, Sunday-9am, 11am, 1pm, 5pm). You are most welcome to come for the Mass with prior reservation. 250 People allowed! Great news
Beautiful church. A great example of late 19th century construction built on top of an earlier church. Essential part of the story of Montreal who's flag has a shamrock.
Unbelievable is the best way to describe this basillica. The wood work inside is spectacular. Do drop in if you are in the area. This is basillica is worthy of museum status.
One of the best church and parish in Montreal. If they could put more speakers inside, it would be easier to understand the mass especially when some priests have a thick accent:)
If in the area this is definitely a cathedral/church to visit and enjoy the architecture and relaxing atmosphere. There are plenty of churches around the area so visit as many as you can.
La nef the cette église est totalement resplendissante et vous laissera bouche-bée durant quelques minutes. L'intérieur comme l'extérieur ont été préservé superbement tout en conservant son style antique. La projection du son dans cet "amphithéatre" est digne des meilleures.
So beautiful. What a great historical church to visit and/or attend mass at. So much to see, a must if you visit Montreal. Lovely! We really enjoyed ourselves.
Went for the 1st time. Was part 2 of a 3-part wedding. Interior is that old church feeling. Lots of great artistic sculpture incorporated to its decor. Outside is nice too however they could def use some yearly touch-up to their cement landscape. Wouldnt hurt or cost much. Imagine exterior pics where the cement is clearly unleveled and cracked. Aside from that, a church thats a church.
