My favorite Korean restaurant in all of Montreal! I recommend the spicy udon, chicken katsu ramen, and udon curry. You won’t be disappointed.

Mauvais expérience dû à leur système de réservation vraiiiiment douteux. Lorsque que tu arrives, tu t'enregistres sur une tablette. Pendant 20 minutes, plusieurs tables étaient vides (voir photo), des gens continuaient de s'inscrire, mais personne ne s'installait. Au bout de 45 minutes, nous avons décidé d'aller dans un autre restaurant coréen «cocoddak» (super expérience). J'ai finalement reçu le message nous invitant à nous installer 1h30 après mon inscription sur la tablette.
Un système sans réservation serait mieux, les gens attendraient et dès qu'une table serait vide, elle se remplirait.

Donc, je vous conseille d'éviter cette adresse les fins de semaine!

The kimchi fries were excellent, the drinks were good, and the staff we very nice so we still tipped but the rest unfortunately fell short especially short given the price, when ordering Dolsot Bibimbap generally it comes sizzling hot, but not only was the bowl not hot the rice wasn’t even really hot enough to cook the egg, and the tofu was fridge cold with no flavour and even after adding more kimchi from the fries and more sauce the dish was still disappointing enough that we couldn’t finish it, a problem I’ve never had before with any Bibimbap Dolsot or not, I’m hoping what happened to us was a 1 off but sadly given we spent over $100 between 2 people I can’t say it’s worth the risk to go back

I used to love this place! The food is really the best, to this day.
During my last visit, we took the all you can eat bbq and we didn’t get to eat as much as we would’ve liked because of the service. Waiter took 15-20 only to take our order. When we got the food, he barely came around to see us. Very disappointing: (

Dined here for the first time with my family (4) on Monday, September 4th and picked the all-you-can-eat option.

The appetizers that are included tasted good (radish and salad), though the kimchi was a little too sour for my personal taste.
They offer a wide variety of meats that were all delicious, as they were lean (not too fatty) and nicely marinated.

We also ordered a cold noodle dish from the à la carte menu, which i found was on the simpler side in terms of ingredients- it could’ve been better had it contained a little more than just half an egg, two types of veg and noodles (i loved how they were the perfect “level” of chewy).

Moreover, I tried their drink called the “I. D. H” (an iced cocktail with pear juice and soju), and it tasted amazing. And if they offered the choice to add tapioca pearls, it would’ve been a one hell of game changer.

In terms of the service, we arrived at around 5: 15pm and were thankfully seated immediately.
The workers were nice and brought out the BBQ equipment + dishes fairly quickly for the first round, however the pace naturally slowed down as the restaurant got busier.

One thing, however, that I did not quite appreciate about the experience is how the waiters/waitress did not check up on our table as frequently as they should- this lead to empty dishes pilling up (leaving us little to no table space, as the grill took up a great majority of it) and the water refills were lacking to say the least.
In order to be served (ex: order more dishes), we had to either get up from our tables and walk up to the front desk, or raise our hand for at least 5 minutes- to no avail 2 out of 3 times. Mind you, I was staring at the waiters as they just stood around the front desk (not serving anyone).

I understand that most customers opt for the à la carte option (which makes the servers’ job simpler), however it should be common knowledge that the all-you-can-eat option requires more check-ins; the reason being that there are likely multiple rounds of orders and hence, more dishes to be taken care of.

All in all, I would come back -for the food- and order from the à la carte as a change for a, hopefully, improved experience in regards to the service.

Is it possible to find out what music was being played live on the piano on Saturday june 10th? It was around 10: 30pm-11pm

It was a good experience. Food was delicious & service crew were attentive and alert. It was a fun-filled dinner with family and friends. I love their kimchi and radish salad and the ice cream after meal. The only thing to consider before going is to make sure you call a day before for a group reservation. Since there is a waiting list. It will take longer to wait compared to a 2 person dining.

We got all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ

- Bad service. We had to reach to our waiter for almost anything: water, a new grill, extra plates. We kept being told that we’d have to pay for pieces we didn’t eat. It was very annoying, and gives a cheap look.
- Extremely cramped. Chairs have no back support
- Dirty. Bathroom smelled bad and looked like it wasn’t cleaned for a while.
- Overall pricey for what you get. Kimchi and beef were great. Pork and chicken were mediocre.

Best place to have korean food, this place has a vibe that you will enjoy. Please make sure to make reservations.

Waited for 2 hours and was told that kitchen didnot have the capacity to host, waiting time after order would be 1 hour…
So why don’t you tell me when I was in line for 2 hours? Could you optimize this process?

Sam cha is an amazing Korean BBQ that had a great atmosphere, service and food. The only problem I would say is that if you don't book beforehand you'll have to wait for a couple of hours.

We went shortly after it opened on a Sunday, like maybe 5 minutes after, and was lucky to get a seat. It was fully packed by like 530.

It’s understandable why it becomes so packed so quickly because the food and service was absolutely amazing. The prices and portions given was VERY reasonable, if not too reasonable. We ordered a huge pot of budae jigae which came with a bibimbap for just $36 and the beef tartare for $14. For just $50 for two people and we left stuffed was great!

The food was very flavourful and portions were very generous. The service was also great as the waitresses checked up on us frequently.

Great place and will recommend!

I like the atmosphere of the place. What I ordered, their curry chicken rice was not bad/not great it was ok. The chicken was too fried. The curry sauce was too salty for my taste. Not sure if the curry sauce has to be served room temperature or hot.

I ordered a seafood pancake and unfortunately it was not crispy as I would have prefered.

Price range is good. The place is packed so expect to wait 30 minutes. Service is good too.

I would come back to try some other dishes.

I enjoyed the yakki udon that I had. It came in a hot stone bowl, it has oyster sauce and tasted as I expected, although a little too oily. It is a generous portion. The service was friendly but I would have preferred to sit in the main dining area. The one in the back didn't have any atmosphere at all. We didn't try the barbecue meal but I could see that it's a popular meal since many people were having it. All in all it was a good experience but you leave the place smelling of food: (. I might go again to try other dishes.

Delicious and good ambiance, waited 45 minutes in line to be told i had to join a virtual wait list but that “they’d seat me next”. We reached our table an hour later, server came after we had been sitting 10-15 minutes. Overall, almost 2 hours before we gave our order. No apologies for the delays and the administrative clusterf that happened. No little “here’s a side of kimchi” on the house or something. Actually, they never brought the side I have ordered.

Good food but you have to make sure it’s not a busy night because that system they have WILL clog and they will not be able to help.

We went there as a group of 16 people for my Husband's birthday and the food was delicious, the drinks were very good and the service was great. We will be going back! The kimchi fries were definitely a hit!

Waiting time promissed 15 min and 1 hour later…still waiting, never make it in to a table.

30$ BBQ buffet. Highly recommend beaf rib, it is juicy and well seasoned. Chicken and pork is normal style.

My favorite korean restaurant in Montréal. The food is great. The Gamjatang is one the most delicious dish i’ve eaten in my entire life. Service is very friendly. This place is all about good vibes!

La bouffe est délicieuse. Par contre, en tant que francophone, j'ai senti que nous n'étions pas les bienvenus. Ils nous reçoivent en anglais. La serveuse n'était même pas capable ou ne voulait pas dire un mot de français, même pas MERCI, BONJOUR ou BONNE APPÉTIT.sérieusement il y a un minimum au Québec!

The service was amazing! They always check on you if the food is okay or anything.

The food was good, they have a lot of options for drinks and their beef tartare and rice cakes are delicious! The bibimbap could've been better though, in my opinion.

The place is quite small and simple. A great place to eat with friends for korean bbq:)

Très belle soirée au Sam Cha, la nourriture y est excellente, ça m'a rappelé mon voyage en Corée. De belles portions pour des prix raisonnables. Le décor est aussi très sympa, bien que je n'ai pas eu l'occasion de voir la salle arrière. Les serveurs sont sympathiques. Petit bémol quand même pour la gestion de l'accueil et des réservations, j'ai dû appeler 2 fois pour être sûre que la resa était bien faite et il vaut mieux s'imposer pour signifier sa présence à l'arrivée. Peut être est-ce dû à la situation covid? Léger temps d'attente pour les plats mais rien de majeur et ça valait la peine. J'y retournerai avec plaisir.

Just one of the absolute best restaurants in Montreal and I am not exaggerating. I have been living in MTL for over 25 years, and food is my biggest passion in life (13 years restaurant experience). Sam Cha is so incredibly consistent with it's product that it's unrivaled. Ever dish I have ever ordered has been nothing but perfect, I cannot recommend this place more.

I really miss the ambiance as well, was one of my go to date spots, or place to bring friends. Can't wait for covid to be gone to continue going.

The food was AMAZING. Ordered from Skip for a Christmas dinner, and it was really worth it! The prices are very reasonable, it was absolutely delicious, definitely will re-order.

Had a great experience here! I ordered the bulgogi bibimbap, tteokbokki, and pork tofu soup. The soup was SO good. I was so full but couldn’t stop eating it—highly recommend. The server was friendly and prompt, and the atmosphere was cozy and warm.

One of the best korean restaurant in town! Workers are friendly and the food is amazing. Love their tofu stew and Kimchi fries. They have a cute decors and the ambiance is cozy and warm. Love to come here for a good meal with friends and family.

Waited one hour and a half for 2 plates. Service was super slow. They just wanted to finish with the day. Average food. Will not go back or recommend it

I was a little annoyed at the beginning because they were making us all wait in a physical line instead of taking names or giving out numbers, and it was 90 degrees and there was zero ventilation in the doorway. Also they told us the wait would be 5-10 minutes, and then after a while they told the people ahead of us that it was going to be 5-10 minutes for them, so we waited a lot longer. When we were seated we realized that they actually had a lot of empty tables in the back, but they just didn't have enough manpower in the waitstaff and/or kitchen to keep up with a full house, hence making us wait to be seated.

We ordered takoyaki ($4), two cold noodles ($13 each), and a kimchi pancake ($13). The kitchen was super considerate and mindful about my garlic/onion intolerance, and the chef came to our table twice to double check with us and make adjustments. Everything was amazing. The prices were really reasonable and the portions were on the larger side. The takoyaki was hot, chewy, and tasty. The noodles had great chew and the beef was tasty too. The kimchi pancake was topped with slices of pork belly and was overall such a good combination of tastes and textures. We spent about $50 for two people. Highly recommend!

C’est des plats traditionnels coréen. Très bon prix pour remplir l’estomac. Le seul problème c’est qu’il ne carte pas pour les boissons alcoolisées.

Went here like 4 times, with bad experiences every time. Their worst part is the service. Waited 30mins outside even when I made a reservation. I saw the previous customers leave the place, but their waitress was so slow to clean that table. Took 5 mins more to let us a sit, Got our orders after 40mins, the waiter just left after putting the foods randomly on the table without knowing who's order it was. They rarely came to see us even after, and took so much time also to pay. Anyways, gave them 10% of tips, and Im never going there after that day.

Food is good but the service is absolutely horrible as people have said. When the lineup gets busy, the hostess will randomly assign people without asking who came first. Not even a formal waiting list either. Do not go during rush hour!

One of the best Korean restaurants in Montreal, super high quality ingredients and bang for the buck! They don't use ground beef in their Bimbimbap but real Bulgogi!

Rice wine is cool. Pretty much everything is tasty and quantity is large. But the service is sloooooow:), that's ok, if you have some nice pl to chit chat! Hehe

- Really nice Korean food, one of the best that I’ve had! Big portions and lovely staffs.
- they only open in the evening, if you come at dinner time (after 6: 30), it’s very likely for them to have a long queue.

Le meilleur restaurant coréen de Montréal selon moi! L'attente vaut la peine, le service est rapide même quand la salle est remplie. Les serveurs sont très gentils. La nourriture est délicieuse! Je ne connais pas bien les noms des plats mais nous y allons régulièrement et je ne peux que recommander cet endroit! Tout est excellent! Les épices sont très bien dosées, les plats relevés mais pas trop, les viandes très bonnes. Bravo pour cette belle réussite!

Best vibes you could ask for in a restaurant, very mellow and chill. Good music choices and tons of food choices as well. PS. GET kimchi fries, its a must ;)

This place has ridiculously good food. Highly recommend those sharing platters that also come with a vegetarian bibimbap with a friend. Service was quick and polite even though we were a big group.
We had a reservation that was well respected without any hiccups and they brought us to a back area with big tables to fit our group size.
Definitely coming back again!

The food is really good, but the service is not that good, the waitress made 3-4 mistakes and didn't even apologize.there's no smile for the customers.they could do better.and the food service was slow.its like they kept forgetting to make our order.it took them almost 1 hour to bring us the beef tartare.

Excellent service, good food, nice music and a cool ambiance. You will definitely smell A LOT like food after going there (your hair and clothes) since every table is having bbq and the place is small. Good price for how tasty it is and for the quantity you get. Try it out!

I was super excited about the budae chigae after seeing all those photos in the review, but kinda disappointed when we actually got it. It was super beautifully presented, but didn’t taste as great as it looks.
The staff were super nice and the okinoyomaki (not sure about the name, it’s a pancake) was great

If you want a good Korean BBQ, Sam Cha is the place. Super chic and cool, food is unreal and meat is quality. It is unlike the all-you-can eat joints down the street. Your clothes will smell terrible, but it's worth it for a nice meal.
