Spare Jeans

I’ve only been a customer of Prosper’s for about five months, but I’ve already purchased two jackets and one pair of jeans from him. I appreciate Prosper’s kindness every time I visit him and his atelier, and I intend to visit him again soon!

I met Prosper through another jeans maker who suggested I go see him for a work he couldn’t handle himself. I am pleased to say that Prosper did not disappoint.

The owner is passionate about denim, he has many vintage sewing machine and he is designing his own cloth.
I had alteration on 2 of my denim, they were perfect and the price is reasonable.

I brought in a pair of Levi's and All Saints jeans that needed to have the waist and seat adjusted. Prosper did an amazing job. Now they both fit exactly how I wanted them to and the craftsmanship is so well done that you can hardly tell they were altered! I also brought in a shirt and he did a great job fixing the pocket for me. All for great prices!

Definitely the best place in Montreal to find jeans. The selvedge denim is ordered from Okayama Japan and jeans are custom made to perfection. Every detail is looked after carefully. I’m a big fan of Prosper’s work and cannot wait to get my second pair.

While visiting Montreal from Detroit, I happened to pick up a selvedge denim jacket that needed alterations. While looking for a tailor with selvedge experience, I discovered Spare Jeans. Prosper did an expert job, at an excellent price; he is a true craftsman. Highly recommended for anyone looking for well-made denim!

Prosper is a true professional. I brought in two pants to be tailored and the job was finish within 24h (your milage my vary). He walked me through the process of what would be done and the alteration work is unnoticeable. Do not hesitate, he is a magician.

Excellent experience with Prosper. He is passionate about quality Japanese Raw Selvedge denim and it comes across in his work, he is a great designer and the jackets hanging up in the shop were also beautiful.
I have bought 2 pairs of jeans from him and the price is also really good for custom jeans of this standard.

Prospero (the onwer) is the best tailor - fashion designer you can ever found in Montreal. I am very picky in term of clothes, and would love to alteration clothes to be well-fit with my personal style.
I am so lucky to get to know Prospero 2 years ago, and keep coming back since then mutiple times to fixing and alteration my clothes (skirts, shorts, dresses or blouse, he is expert of everything with his detail and dedicated work)
Money wise: very reasonable compared to any tailor stores i ever visited before meet him.

Brought my jeans in for an alteration. Prosper did an amazing job. He is extremely knowledgeable about denim and has several specialized vintage sewing machines such as the Union Special (chain stitching). Highly recommend, will definitely come back.

Ordered a pair of custom jeans and totally delighted with how they turned out! The process involved measurements, a preliminary fitting a few weeks later, and then a final try-on a few days after that (they fit perfectly). Prosper is extremely knowledgeable and designed the jeans to be timeless (straight leg, medium high waist), durable, (14 oz Japanese selvedge denim) and fit my body type - which is something I can’t find in stores. They were then packed in a matching cotton bag - a nice touch! The fit and quality of the jeans and the process of ordering/fitting were all great - thanks Prosper!

The main reason why I love this place so much is because I know that a great job will always be done. I trust Rey completely with all my gowns, whether it's alterations, additions, appliqué. Whatever it is, Rey is always able to bring my dresses to another level. He's a really good tailor. I have bought two pairs of jeans from him. Both are of great quality and feel amazing. One is a lighter pair and the other one is a darker heavier pair. I have recommended him several times to friends and family and they enjoy his work too.
