St-Viateur Bagel

Terrific spot to grab some bagels. I would highly recommend a half dozen sesame bagels with some cream cheese. Worth noting this place is cash only and doesn’t have space to eat onsite.

We came to try some super fresh bagels, we weren’t disappointed, we bought a few extra flavours to try later throughout the day.

The sesame and all seasoned were the classic ones we enjoyed the most. The blueberry and maple apple were also great and flavourful.

We came back before we returned home and purchased a dozen various flavours to take back home with us.

Remember it’s cash only so make sure you have it otherwise you won’t get served.

It's a destination, it's a tradition, it's definitely worth visiting for a whiff of nostalgia and a mouthful of a Montreal bagel.

I visited for the umpteenth time to show a friend what the fuss is all about. We met some cyclo-tourists from California and chatted in an area near the front of the place. The nearby "wall of fame' featured newspaper articles and photos of current and former celebrities who had visited the joint.

The dough maker and cash keeper have changed, but the steady stream of people lining up for bagels has not. The lady serving the round treats had game and character. The banter old school with just a touch of irony and sarcasm lost on conservatives.

A must for anyone visiting the city! Bring your own butter and be prepared to soak up the atmosphere to a bygone age. New, old, everyone is welcome. And yes, they ship anywhere on the planet, so if you're in Melbourne, AUS, you can order online.

The beagles are very rich and the line moves quickly, the only problem is that they do not accept card payment and you have to line up again. There is an ATM at the entrance in case you notice in time

Quaint and apparently the best bagels in Montreal. We stoud in line for about 20mins on Sunday so not that bad

It was delicious! The taste that made me realize why Montreal bagels are made! To my taste, the sesame and basic ones were the best! You know that cream cheese is essential for bagels!:) It's a bonus that the cashier is so friendly!

The Bagels are OK, I've had better but I did like how they were fresh and warm. If you want creamcheese you have to buy separately. Price is reasonable but they only accept cash.

To be honest, the old bagel shop run by Italians is no different from the F brand. Cash only.

This is must try spot when you are visiting Montreal, bagels were decent nothing extraordinary but had good experience

Ya une file à chaque jours depuis des dizaines d'années. Le service est rapide et les bagels excellent et tres tres frais. Si tu es fan de bagel ou veut découvrir les bagels de Montréal, c'est la place. Pour les touristes c'est pratiquement un passage obligé et pour les locaux du secteur également. Faut essayer, je vous le recommande.

Our hotel served these exact bagels for breakfast but ones freshly made taste a lot better. We went on Xmas day so the prepared salmon bagels weren't available and had to buy the cream cheese with salmon spread separately and make them inside, in the tiny space with a metal table. I've tasted NYC bagels and thought they were as good.

St-Viateur Bagel is an iconic / must visit bagel bakery in Montreal. This is one of the oldest bagel shops in the city. Their most popular bagel is the sesame seed (plain) bagel but we also tried the whole wheat version and it didn’t disappoint.

Stopped in to pick up bagels and we purchased two dozen. These bagels are of exceptional quality and worth the wait. Great service and a broad selection.

Very delicious bagels and very friendly service, they even spoke to me in Spanish. The girl told me I could take whatever photos I wanted, I realized that St-Viateur was a little bit of Montreal history.

You can find a wide variety of fresh bagels, both sweet and savory.
There are always a lot of people but it's okay

The best, obviously. But leaving a review especially for the friendly, calm staff, who patiently and expediently help those customers like myself who are sometimes in a great hurry.

Great bagels, I enjoyed all of them. The onion is an acquired taste. I bought enough for a few days lunches for walking around Montreal. I will do that again next time.

Lukewarm sesame bagel, not warm all dressed bagel on a busy Sunday morning, bit of disappointed, a lots of flour, probably 4500 pounds in the display, a room full of pictures on the wall, customers can eat bagel while viewing the pictures, but somehow blocked others who wished to take good angle photos, they only accept, not following the trend, just like their wood burning oven, it's not open 24 hours a day as the rumor says
