Exceptional food and service. Priced fairly. Been going frequently for over 2 years. They are very friendly and make sure to follow my specific requests (spiciness level, for example). Only great things to say about this place!

Extremely fresh, piping hot, fairly priced, and the best vindaloo I've had in all of Montreal. I'm going to come back here again and again. Even at the end of the day, the veggies in the soup were perfectly crisp (not too crunchy and not too soft). No idea how they did that! I came in 30 mins before close and they welcomed me with amazing service. Love this place!

Nous avons été chercher un poulet au beurre, poulet au curry et de l'agneau karma et tout était tellement délicieux. Pas trop épicé et a convenu à tous les goûts. Un service rapide et à bon prix.

Very authentic Indian food. My opinion it's the best Indian cooking in Montreal and I have a lot of experience.

I had the lamb curry and naan on the side. Overall I felt the dish was missing flavor, and could have been more spicy. There's better spots out there.

Good variety of items in the combos. Delicious food, expecially the butter chicken! The desert wasn't great but we were also pretty full!

Got delivery. Overall experience is positive, but we found the meals we had (butter chicken and lamb corma) were unexpectedly sweet and lacked flavour. The korma felt artificially flavoured. Portions are generous.

We had the chicken liver appetizer and onion baji for starters. Both very tasty. Then beef josh rogan and a lamb curry. Again very flavourful. If you like it hot, then you have to tell them, as the dishes are all very mild. Would totally recommend.

This is a really good Indian Restaurant. I have been to many Indian restaurants in my life. And this is high up on my list. Best Butter Chicken I tried. Vindaloo amazing too. Great food.

Nothing is at least some kind of spicy. The taste is nothing compare to other indian restaurant. I felt that I was eating chinese/szechuan cuisine. Everything was too sweet. The sauce that came with badji amd pakora tasted like SoGuy chinese sauce. Won’t order from there anymore

Butter chicken sucré et absolument pas épicé, Bhuna ghost insipide, l’entrée était très bonne cependant.
J’ai juste eu l’impression de manger une cuisine adapté au marché nord américain et je n’ai donc absolument pas voyagé en mangeant ce plat.

Just WOW! Such quality indian eats, generous portions and very reasonably priced. Very nice people will look after you. I am normally very hard to please and prefer to cook at home so it's true.

I was quite disappointed. The place got great reviews so we ordered from Uber Eats. The dishes we ordered were very bland, lack flavor and as if spices were not even used. I've been to India twice so I'm very familiar with Indian food. This tasted like something I can make at home. The portions were good but who cares when you don't even want to eat it.

Highly impressive Indian resto. Flavors and textures right on, superbly spiced. The dal soup was the best I've ever had and one of the best soups I have ever had. The panoply of spices and textures in the soup are absolutely amazing. You must order this and order from here. Highly authentic, very reasonably priced and big portions. Can you ask for anything else? Absolutely not. If you are in the mood for Indian, and even If you are not, you must order from this place. 6 stars

Outstanding food! Our favourites are spicy butter chicken, pasanda lamb, delicious saag paneer and giant shrimp Malawi.

Best Indian take-out in NDG. The 15% takeout discount makes this place a bargain. The onion bhaji are crispy and delicious, the chicken tender, the lamb succulent.

First time on Uber and I’m really disappointed! Messy and cheap presentation, the nan was fresh but Everything else didn’t taste good and wasn’t fresh! Never again!

I ordered chicken biryani on Friday. Packing was good but It was mere yellow rice with some chicken. The box and quantity was half of the usual ones served in other restaurant. Raita curd was not good too. I think I ordered biryani at wrong place. Disappointed Friday evening.

Sadly i have to put a bad review here and its the first time in my entire life i have to do this but I paid 80$ of food from this restaurant Star of india and i regret it now because the food was so bad.they should hire another chef. Like the taste of their butter chicken or goat biryani was so sweet like if they dropped a full jar of sugar by accident.the Sag Paneer had no taste like barely had spices to it. Wow i feel bad because i had to throw the food to the garbage as the food was not eatable at all! Seriously be careful the food are not tasting like the real things, it better look for another place like the Restaurant bombay mahal NDG or BBQ tandori restaurant.

I Ordered the butter chicken and as mentioned and it tasted like sweet coconut milk and the naan wasn't great! I was upset.

Mmmmm. This place is great. Nane bread is great and I really enjoyed their butter chicken. I am not into super spicy food, so there are a ton of items I have not tried. But for the ones I did, they were good super taste.

We were extremely disappointed with the take out we got from the Star of India. The butter chicken sauce just tasted like milk and the chana masala had no flavour.

My family and friends have been buying here for years, take-out and in house dining. We have had many family occasions and celebrated here! Execellent food, never disappoints, friendly respectful service and fair prices and portions!

Best Indian food in NDG! Fast, friendly, and knowledgeable service. Different dishes have different seasonings, and the hot dishes are HOT. It's usually crowded and it's a good idea to reserve.

Friendly service and great food. We had two young children along and it was very beginner Indian food friendly. The butter chicken was excellent as it often is, especially with the naan to sop up the extra sauce. The chicken Korma was sweet and savory without being too much for the little ones.

The service here is excellent. Fast, attentive and super friendly wait staff. Good starters, particularly the onion bhaji. Unfortunately my prawn bhuna was disappointingly bland. Based on my experience, most of the South Asian restaurants in the area seem geared towards a palette unaccustomed to spicy, flavourful food. Not very authentic.

The Star of India on Sherbrooke has survived the test of time (over 50 years) for several good reasons. This cozy little gem almost feels like another home to me because of the welcoming service which is always up to par. Whenever I call to reserve a table, they recognize who I am because I am a regular diner. Also, whenever I order, they remember all my favourite dishes. The quality of the food is always fresh and succulent. I have dined here with family, friends and co-workers over the years who have all trusted my "refined palate". They were as impressed with the service and quality as I have been. If you love Indian cuisine as I do, the "Star of India" (on Sherbrooke) will be sure to dazzle you and make you a regular customer for years to come.

Delicious food, warm, cosy ambience. Lighting is on the dim side, so bring your reading glasses and flashlight. Service may be a wee on the slow side, but nothing worth complaining about.

One of the best indian restaurants in the neighborhood. They do need to stop serving single use plastic bottled water though. There is no need for that.

So much is good about this place. The food is great, the staff is friendly and helpful, it's cozy, and it's all been that way for years.

Le restaurant indien le plus dégueulasse que j'ai goûté de ma vie. Le korma est beaucoup trop sucré et donne la nausée, aucune saveur, aucune finesse, le nan est une insulte à la cuisine indienne, même le riz est sans saveur, bref je recommande la fermeture imminente! Went there 3 times, I agree its friendly, good service but do not appreciate that employees ask for personal questions.its like you are in the court, asking you where you live, where you work, what you do in the company, what your company name.another experience, in another indian restaurant, where the owner asking same questions and what is our salary.disgusting.

Food was amazing. Service not to sure. The waiter only took my husbands order for drink and did not bother to ask me but my husband came to the rescue. What made this place for us was the kind couple who sat beside us who offered to share their table as when we reached there was no room and we made no reservations.so technically the other couple combined with the food was what made it a great experience and greatly priced.

Tried this place because of the good reviews, but I'm floored that people like the food at this place. The butter chicken was gross - tasted only like sugar, not even spices, just sugar. The biryani was like mush and the few slices of tomato in it were almost candied from the sugar. It was borderline inedible because of how sweet it was (I don't mean a little sweet, this was just pure sugar). I will never order from here again. There are far better choices in Montreal for real, flavorful, authentic Indian food.

Excellent meal! Lamb dishes highly recommended. Staff was very helpful and accommodating with us bringing a 9 month old. The restaurant is small and quaint. Very clean and calm atmosphere. Very highly recommended if you are looking for well priced authentic Indian cuisine.

We had always been dining at the Indian restaurant across the street.but decided to try this place for a change.and we are so glad that we did. The food here.at Star of India.is so much better! Very fragrantly seasoned and generous portions. Excellent service.without having to wait a long time. This is our new Indian restaurant go-to place!

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Montréal! Kinda pricey but dude, you get SO MUCH FOOD D: It's totally worth the bucks! They are so generous with the amount of sheer veggies and meat and all the good stuff. I enjoyed every single time I went or got a delivery. The staff is sweet and attentionned. Go here, not the one on Saint-Catherine.

Nice, cosy and warm ambiance. Excellent for small family dinners and also a cute place for romantic dinners. Service is excellent. Food is great. Highly recommended.

I was there with a client. Buffet was $14.95. $36 including tips for 2. Pea soup was good. Butter chicken was too sweet.tandoori chicken not fresh and dry. Naan bread was okay. Food in tray were not plenty despite the fact we were only 4 in restaurant to eat at the time.

Very friendly staff. Everything is delicious! Nice and cozy in the restaurant but take out is always great too!
