This place is a scam. Advertises itself as the best club in Canada but played weird house music all night with creepy men staring at the dance floor all night. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place unless you want the D furreah

Très mauvaise expérience, on est arrivé tôt il n’y avait pas d’ambiance et on n’a même pas pu boire de l’alcool au bar… j’ai demandé de l’eau on m’a répondu: « on ne sert pas d’eau mais vous pouvez acheter une bouteille d’eau »
Staff peu aimable - je vais finir par croire que les parisiens sont plus sympas …

I came to Montreal for the reputation of this club, claiming one of the best in Canada. First of all, I’m a big techno guy, I paid $50 for the club entrance and traveled from US all the way to Montreal just hoping to have a good or a decent experience of this techno experience. And, IT WAS terrible. The DJ probably just graduated from his home garage, and all night long it’s just single mono boring beats. Dude, I can play better even if I’m dead and blind, like seriously. Where do you even find these junk dj from? And just for the reference, it’s 4th of Nov, from 1 am to 3 am. The bar I went to for free play WAY better music than this place. In short, I’m extremely disappointed in this club and I don’t wanna have this experience way down on my expectations on house/techno music in this city. But overall, I do NOT recommend coming to this place.

GO! GO NOW! GO WAIT IN LINE! This is one of the best nightclub experiences in the world. The friendliest, most talented staff of people run this place and the music is first class. GO! Thank me later.

It was a nice experience, people were cool, felt safe and free. I expected rude bouncers etc after reading some reviews here, but for me it was all good. And the toilets were ok! Amazing sound system and ventilation, looking forward to my next visit! No alcohol, just music.

Without any hesitation! Stereo is my favourite club and definitely the best one you will find in town. Outstanding sound system and beautiful layout to suit everyone’s vibe. No surprise stereo is amongst the best clubs in the world:)

You will be greeted and welcomed by the most genuine staff I have ever seen. No need to explain why it makes our experience that much better. Front door, tickets, coat check crew! Everyone is joyful and welcoming. Security is discrete, respectful and very professional assuring our safety through the the night. All I can say is thank you!

Le son est vraiment bien, les basses sont fortes, on sent la musique traverser le corps! Et que dire de l'aération! Endroit super bien aérer, ce qui permet de danser en masse sans avoir trop chaud! La foule est agréable, les gens y vont pour danser, pas pour jaser ou prendre des selfies. Il y a aussi beaucoup d'espace pour s'asseoir et se reposer les jambes juste en haut du dancefloor, ce qui permet de ne pas manquer une minute du show! Et l'endroit est très propre! J'y retournerai c'est certain!

The person in charge of the clothes lost mine and instead of finding a solution he yelled at me, he was punching the tables he told me to shut up. He was clearly not sober and nobody did anything. I felt ashamed as a woman and I was afraid that he can beat me since he was really aggressive. Avoid this place.

The street the venue was on reeked on rotten sewage and mold. I waited in line for at least 25 minutes which isn’t that bad but I was listening to music on my phone while I waited and it was barely audible, the host “woman” told me to turn it off cause it was annoying her yet she looked like a living skeleton with terrible plastic surgery and lip injections to the point I felt in danger entering the venue that would employ such a miserable disgusting being. Also the cover is $45 dollars which is unjustifiable.

I am writing this review to raise awareness of phone theft at your establishment with great sadness. Stereo has long been an established that I’ve looked forward to experiencing and I finally had the opportunity to do so yesterday with my boyfriend at the John Digweed Illesoniq after party. Little did we know, the well respected Stereo community failed us as my phone was stolen out of my zipped up purse at around 2: 30-3am - a gift that my boyfriend got me less than two months ago. The loss and love I felt that night is hard to put into words - Stereo, if you see this, I'd really appreciate a response.

Stereo is the place to go for underground/techno/electronic music. Best sound system in Canada if I’m not mistaken! Always feel safe and meet new friends. The lighting and dance floor is perfect and the chilling area behind is a plus for when you need a break from dancing for 8hours+.

I was visiting from the states for a few days, and had over 20 people recommended Stereo to me when I asked for clubs to go to. So, I went this morning after a few bars. By that time, it was four am.
It’s a very comfortable environment & everyone is respectful (which is rare for nightclubs) The bouncers made sure my friends and I were safe and well before going into the club. When entering, there is security checking your belongings and doing pat downs. I’m not sure if a lot of nightclubs are like this in Montreal, but from checking the purses to the pat down, they asked if we were okay with each step and if we felt comfortable with being touched. That is one of the reasons my review is 5 stars, as a lot of security/ bouncers in the clubs I’ve been to are harsh and don’t really care to ask these simple questions.
Regarding the club itself, it is veryyyy spacious and I loved that I had my own space to dance and not be worried about being approached by people I didn’t know. The people in the club were very respectful, and I did notice that most people are in their mid 20s and up-
Overall 10/10 experience. I recommend you go at least once.

Stereo is the best nightclub to dance the night away, by far. It has everything: impeccable sound-system, spacious dancefloor, crazy lighting, clean and private bathrooms, and a smoking alley that will make you feel like you are in an 80s movie! Additionally, the club has a strict no-recording policy. Which means that there aren't random flashes going on during the night and it makes Stereo an extremely private dance-club compared to its competitors. This is a big plus, in my opinion; as it makes the club a lot more personalized and homey.

The crowds are highly variable in terms of age and lifestyle, but that doesn't matter because everyone in attendance is only there to dance and enjoy the music; which is extremely liberating and welcoming.

If you plan on coming to this club, it would be wise to plan ahead (i.e, buying tickets online and not at the door) as you'll be guaranteed a spot in and once you are in, the night is yours.

Exceptional - Stereo is legendary for good reason.

Everything (sound system, cleanliness, staff, absence of bottle service) is geared to appeal to those who are looking to have a great evening. Has to be experienced though, not much else like it in Montreal's (or Canada's) dance scene.

Techno music, good speakers, extremely rude and racist bartenders and staff. Tourists stay away! Please! Entered the club after 11: 30pm and left the club within 15 mins. Had high expectations but ruined our mood.

Me and some friends went to the bar and the bartender asked if we were all together or separate and when we said separate the bartender was happy to say “no”, when I asked what he meant he said “that’s too much so no” and then continued to walk away?

C'était de loin la plus nul soirée que j'ai fais à Montréal, jamais atteint une telle nullité. Ça devrait être gratuit! C'est claqué au sol, arrêtez le suplisse. Les djs ne seraient pas acceptés en maison de retraite. La honte!

Mon amie a eu le malheur de se faire bousculer par « un vip », il lui a demandé de s’excuser alors qu’il était en tord. Le mec est allé chercher le videur pour sortir ma pote. Scandalisé, aucune explication possible, le videur principal nous insultait. La totale… je déconseille fortement cette boîte de nuit.

The bouncers were extremely rude, told us they would kick us out unless we stopped being on our phones. Customers are mostly adults in their 40s so it’s definitely not the place for a younger crowd. It was my second time over there and I really wasted my time…

What a world class establishment. Staff were real troopers, and it was packed. One of the reasons why Montreal is such a magical and electric city. Cannot wait till the border opens up again. Who knows maybe I will meet my soulmate there.

Si je pouvais mettre plus d'étoiles je le ferais. Cet endroit m'a fait découvrir tant d'artistes. J'ai mis les pieds là avant même l'ouverture officielle en juillet 1998 et rendu à mes 44 ans, je me fais un devoir de me faire plaisir et d'y retourner aussi souvent que possible. La musique, le son, l'ambiance et le décor sont parfaits! 10 étoiles sur 5.

Horrible experience. I was with 3 friends with valid tickets for the Stephan Bodzin show. The staff members refused to let me in with a physical ticket because it was damaged by water. The ticket and hologram was still visible & I arrived a few minutes before it was open. They didn't even allowed me to pay for another ticket before 5 AM when they finally reopened the sales.

I did everything I could to salvage my night as I send the club the pictures of the ticket asking if it was going to be accepted hours before the show, I also tried calling with no answer.

I recall new year's eve 2000 at stereo. I started going there at the beginning. Now I live in BC. One day I will visit again. It was always the best.

Staff members are amazing! Very helpful and you can tell they are caring. Everyone needs to be very careful with their drinks, no matter how hard staff is trying to keep drugs out, people find a way to get them in and some of those people will try to drug you. So everyone have fun and be careful. And always be nice to the staff

Bémol! La cigarette est omniprésente devant le commerce, ça fume, un des employés à la porte fume, ça serait une excellente idée d’installer une enseigne claire devant le commerce afin de faire respecter le règlement

La maison. On s'y sent bien, le son est d'une clareté absolue, sans être fort. Pas de traitement VIP, relativement peu de téléphones, les gens sont là pour la musique et pour passer un bon temps. Personnellement, avant d'y aller je dors et mets le réveil à 4h00 pour m'y rendre, c'est comme ça que je suis le plus en forme pour danser. Depuis que je ne suis plus à Montréal ça me manque.

It cost 30$ per person, the music was way too loud and the music was ultra repetitive like the same beat for 20 minutes none stop. I really feel you need to be drunk or on drugs to enjoy this place. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. Don't even bother to go here.m. Just go to the club until 3 am. I left after 30 minutes.really disappointed

This is the most strange schedule. We were planning on going for after-hours party Saturday night (Sunday) they were closing. What's the point of after hours for only Thursday and Friday night? I wish I could check the place out, but not this time.

Great sound system, however ridculus rules such as no in & out after an hour of opening, no jacket inside the club even if you're cold, too much security checking as if it's an airport etc. The music wasn't too bad, wasn't spectacular either. For a saturday night it was half empty and not much fun.

Meilleur système de son pour un show! Vous allez vraiment aimé! Majoritairement du techno qui joue. Bien important de noter les heures. 2ham à +/- 10ham. C'est un after donc pas d'alcool.

The sound system is incredible and the dance floor is great. Although I’m not so much into techno/deep house, the DJs were pretty sweet. Or I guess the sound system made up for it.

Only giving it 4 stars because the guy: girl ratio was pretty terrible.

I was there for Montreal pride this year for the very first time and WOW just. WOW! The sound system that they have in there in soooo incredibly crystal clear. Not to mention the set up of the venue, everything there just works! By far my new fave clubbing spot! Will be back, miss it already! Xoxo

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I felt inclined to review this place because of how bad it was, and I never do reviews. As an 18 yr old female in a foreign country, this place gave me the absolute creeps.looks nothing like the pictures online and no disco ball. There are plenty of good clubs in Montreal, but this is not one of them. First off, we get to the night club around 11 PM. We walked down the stairs into complete darkness. No sign outside saying the name of the nightclub, but the address was right. The bouncer says it is free before 12. We’re excited because we look this place up on trip advisor and it has very high ratings. We go in and pay for coat check. Then the security guy frisks me and my boyfriend. He stamps us on the arm with the phrase “URGENT! ”, a little weird but whatever. Finally we get in. We enter a room full of older people. Almost everyone I saw was at least 35 years old. The DJ was playing some terrible creepy techno music with no words at all. My boyfriend goes to the bar to get a drink and they tell him that he has to pay for a whole Redbull to get a Jager bomb. It’s expensive so my friend declines and gets himself a beer and a (seriously overpriced) bottle of water. We normally tip at bars, but the guy so rudely told my friend about the prices that he did not think of it. The guy then proceeds to lean in and tell him that hey just so you know tip is not included so you need to tip. My bf reluctantly obliges. No one else said anything like this the whole time we were in Montreal. Bartender then gave us some made up story about how he makes no money bartending there. We leave to sit down and are surrounded by old bald men and 45 yr old women. Even tho I am clearly there with someone, men are creepily staring at me intensely the whole 45 mins we were there. This isn’t out of the ordinary but I was not dressed up or anything and it was relentless. I did not feel safe. I had to use the bathroom so we go ask where it is. He directs us both in the same direction. We walk in to discover everything looks like an optical illusion. If you were heavily drunk you would probably get seriously hurt or lose your group of people you are with. The lights are so dim we can’t see anything. The bathroom is unisex and there are men just pissing in the open and the bathroom stall had concrete floors and wooden walls. Really scary. I go out to find my boyfriend and get lost. Finally I find him after some creeps tried grabbing at me in the bathroom. We come out and I agree to stay and wait it out until at least 12: 30. I try to take a pic of the nightclub on Snapchat and some dude comes over to me and yells at me saying “no pictures of video allowed. ” Finally when it started getting “busy”, I realized that everyone on the dance floor was clearly on something. Everyone swaying creepily, and no one really actually dancing. We finally left around 12: 45 and the coat check people wanted us to pay extra just in case we “came back. ” We said no thanks and left. If you’re looking for a younger crowd, decent music, decent prices, and overall good vibes, this is not the place for you.

Stereo, one of the best sound systems in the world thats for sure! Clean bass is amazing. This place is located near the gay village so expect gay people, no place for discrimination here. People are amazing and respectful everyone is on their own vibe. This place is an after-hours rave so it starts at 2AM, but the best starts around 5AM, they do not serve alcohol because its an after-hours however there is StereoBar which is downstairs but there is fee after midnight (-_-).
Recommended but, It would be nice if they play different style of music sometimes and if the bouncers would be less rude, and the bathrooms are dirty sometimes.

I came to see Nick Warren for 18 years of Stereo. Maybe for 19 years of Stereo the owner could re-upholster the couches that are falling apart. The bathrooms are horrific and the cocaine dealer that stands outside of second floor bathroom is beyond obvious. The music is usually really great which is really the whole point of going I just feel for this price the club should at least be clean and renovated. One night I left and got a refund because I couldn't stand the overzealous security. Usually its a good time and a must see for electronic music/clubbing in Montreal.
