I want to give a huge thanks to Steve’s Dollard-des-Ormeaux team and the online team. The Dollard-des-Ormeaux team helped me track down a particular preamp that I was having trouble finding anywhere else. Not only that, the team went out of their way to ship the product to my home in Austin, TX USA. I highly recommend Steve’s Music Store!

This review is two parts.
#1 Ayman was AMAZING! We brought our guitar in for a tune-up and took the time to explain everything I could ever ask for and more. I highly recommend hi for any musical instrument question.
#2 Walking around I found another guitar I found another guitar. We don't need it but the price looked right. I noticed that it had some marks and a scuffs on it so I offered him a little lower than he was asking. $25 less to be exact. Gilles the manager told me it was a used guitar and he would get his price in a few days or so. I had just spent $80-90 on a tune-up and strings plus I bought a guitar stand $18. I then said ok, I will give you asking, but I would like another wall stand. He instead offered me 2 tshirt and a hat. You need to understand, I can afford the $20. It was more of principal at this point and I found that Gilles lacked customer satisfaction and I left -$100 and with a bad taste in my mouth.
Too bad because Ayman was GREAT.

Amazing staff, everyone super friendly and eager to help. Needed to buy a violin, everyone helped to make it happen.

Awesome place and great staff. You never feel " hounded" or pressured by pesky sales staff such as Long and Mcquade in Vaudreuil.

I was looking for a new keyboard and wanted to try a specific make and model out. They didnt have it in stock but brought one from the warehouse to the store for me to try. The salesperson was very knowledgable and helpful. There is no pressure to buy and one feels at ease if you decide it is not what you are looking for. Its great that they are on the West Island now. I would reccomend them if you are thinking of buying a keyboard and live on the West Island

Ya un gars dans ce store là qui se prend pour dieu. J'ai un focus rite solo et je suis plugger en rca et le dude me fait de l'attitude parce-que je suis plugger en rca. C'est un setup super common, c'est juste un esti de douche. Au moins celui qui c'est occupé de moi après il avait un service convenable.

So convenient to have a location on the West Island. The staff is always very knowledgeable and helpful. Fun to browse there and great place to upgrade your instrument or beef up your home studio.

I bought a Mustang Bass from Guy recently.this is recent as I also have spent a small fortune in the last year in this place. Why this store? I also shop online but Guy and his staff have helped me experience with a plethora of gear, they are kind and always on the go to insure you have a premium experience. Brave to you guys for making the place a success, it's all in the staff and dare I say a kind and considerate manager who goes out of his way to get you the gear you need.

Une étoile c'est trop. Pour la 2e fois de ma vie je vais chez Steve's, en entrant le magasin est vide, je suis le seul client les vendeurs sont en arrière du comptoir en train de se compter des histoires et me regarde en faisant une face de ahh non va falloir travailler, j'avais l'impression de les dérangé, finalement une des 3 qui semblait plus travaillant est venu me voir, je pose une question est les 2 derrière le comptoir pouffe de rire et l'assistant gérant (René), se met a rire de moi et de me ridiculisé litéralement. Jamais vu un service aussi pourrie, heureusement celui qui m'a servi était correct sinon je serais partis sur le champ mais ca donne pas le gout d'y retourner.

What can you say? Like the t-shirts they had back in the day "If we don't have it, you don't need it". Good selection (not as diverse as the original store on St Antoine) but they probably have what you need

The staff here is always excellent. They are very knowledgeable and will take as much time as you need to help you find what you're looking for without putting any pressure on you. It's a beautiful store very bright and you feel very comfortable there. They have many ranges of quality and prices as well which is great!

The only problem with Steve's is the dirty carpets and their selection of music inside. The popular music store needs a real decoration. You don't feel any music inside. No collectibles, no posters or what so ever. It's a simple music market this way.

Steve's has earned their wonderful reputation in the music world as a provider of excellent advice and tools for making music.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially when you have no idea what you need. I recommend this place to my friends too if they are interested to buy any music instruments.

I went here 3 weeks ago to get my guitar adjusted with new strings installed and a new bridge. Took 2 weeks and 1 day and all they did was change the strings and file down the original bridge I asked them to change. Would not suggest going to this useless music store.

It's honestly great to have a music store that's of easy access for us West Islanders. The staff is friendly and helpful, often offering suggestions or alternative solutions for achieving the sound you seek. Regardless of how quiet or busy the day gets, they're always there to answer whatever question you have on your mind.

The store itself has a fair amount of selection, though there is some noticeable limitation. For example: if you're a guitarist, you'll feel like a kid in a candy store as there are just about every type of guitar available from the lowliest Squier to the highest Gibsons at your fingertips.

If you're a bassist such as myself, the selection is considerably smaller. Mostly consisting of the Squier, Fender, Yamaha and Ibanez variety with each ranging from dirt cheap to bank busting. Though each one I've ever purchased from this store served me well, it would be nice to have a little more options (like maybe some models from Spector, LTD, Jackson or even Schector). This could be attributed that guitar is the more popular instrument, but us bassists need love, too.

Regarding amps, most of what you'll find are combos, some amp heads and 2 x 10 cabinets. For the gigging local act, they'll get the job done. But if you seek something huge like a 4 x 12 or 8 x 10, you're better off venturing to the one located downtown.

If you're a local musician living in the West Island or even a parent trying to get their kid into playing an instrument, this store has enough to provide you with the basics. If you have more specific gear in mind, you may need to venture elsewhere or order online. Otherwise, for a music shop in my neck of the woods, it's miles ahead compared to other places I've visited.

Quelle différence entre le magasin du centre-ville et celui du West Island. Au centre-ville les conseillers semblent avoir plus de connaissances et ont une plus grande capacité d'aider et répondre aux questions.

Malgré ça, je n'y retournerai que si les prix sont meilleurs qu'ailleurs puisque mon expérience au West Island a été plus que décevante.

I use to go to the original Steve's on St. Antoine often before I moved to Chicago in 2012. Had great service and bought a couple of guitars and a few amps.

Moved to Ottawa in 2016 and haven't had a chance to check out the new location on St. Catherine St. But was near the Dollard location and thought I'd check it out. I was interested in an amp that was listed on the main website and possibly an effect.

It's a small store with a fair selection for its size. They had a good selection of top brands, eg. Fender, Gibson, etc. A very good selection of effects, many which are on the shelves in front of the counter. You can pick them up, and read the manuals if you

When I walked in there may have been one or two customers besides me and three or four employees talking with each other behind the counter. I was there for about twenty minutes. No one said hi and no one asked me if they could help me. Wow! Could I have asked for help? Sure. But if a sales person isn't particularly busy what effort does it take to be courteous to a new walk in?

It's all right. I can take a hint. I won't be going back there.

Looking forward to going to the main location downtown.

OK customer service. Although, you get that sensation where they choose which customer to spend time with who's potential buyer.
