Tchang Kiang by Yangtze

We were 3. Hot and sour soup - no mushrooms, no meat - disappointing. Chicken with spicy mango - sweet. Curry beef - nondescript thinly sliced beef drowning in sauce. Seafood noddles - the only redeeming dish at $27 that tasted reasonably good. With 3 bottles of Ching Tao taxes and tip - one of the worst experiences and values in dining. Service was Ok.

Bought 9 egg rolls like I usually do.
I found the egg rolls smaller than normal although they raised the price.
Taste was way off.
Plum sauce was good

Ordered for the first time here last night. While the quality of the food is good, the prices simply cannot be justified. $150 for 3 people. There were 7 pieces of general tao. 7. The beef and chicken dishes were cold and had to be microwaved.
Meals don't come with soup included like many other places. Will not be ordering from here again and I honestly cannot say I would recommend it to others based solely on the price they charge for small portions.

My comment is about ordering. I had been eating Yangtze for 50 years. When they changed location because of a fire in the original, the quality of food went downhill. Now I order - this is the 3rd time - Yangtze Small Ribs which are made with a molasses base - they deliver Honey Garlic Ribs. I ordered Beef with Broccoli/Snow Peas, I got only Broccoli. Overpriced for an order of Broccoli with a little bit of beef. I left a voicemail after I got my order and they didn't call back. Sorry Yangtze, but we are finally done.

This is my go to place for General Tao. Staff is super friendly, food is REALLY good and the price isn't stupid high. Definetly worth a visit

Revisiting an old favorite and not disappointed. Egg rolls and spring rolls made on site including the wrappers.

Food is good, small portions, a bit pricey. Btw, I'm reading so many childish comments by adults, please grow up.

I have been a regular customer at Yangtze since the 1980s, but after my experience there today. I shall never return.

The woman who served me, who also acted as manager, was so rude to me. The problem started when I pointed to the Yangtze spare ribs on the menu priced at $20 and asked her if these were the long ribs and she said they were that came with the thick sauce. I ordered them, but upon paying for my meal at the cash, she charged me $27. When I told her, she had confirmed these were the long ribs priced at $20, she then told me I was inquiring about the short ribs. I didn't want to get into an argument and just paid the $27, but added no tip because why would I tip somebody who misrepresented the correct price to me instead of explaining the situation at the beginning. She then told me if I didn't leave a tip. I would not be welcomed back. I started extracting two toonies from my wallet.and then she told me I would not be welcomed back if the tip wasn't at least 15%. I had just about enough of this attitude at this point.and told her I didn't like being told what to do or how much to tip and just decided to leave. She told me not to come back.

I don't believe this woman had the right to talk to me like that and I am placing this description of what took place with the hope that her superiors read this account and deal with her accordingly. This establishment has lost a steady and loyal customer of nearly 50 years.

I had a long discussion about the situation with Marco (the owner) and this matter has been settled to my complete satisfaction. I have updated my review to 5 stars which has always been the case every time I have dined here in the past. This is one isolated incident that is now forgotten. I will be dining here regularly in the future. Thank you, Marco!

Very expensive, small portions. We ordered a few dishes and it was $135, plus no rice on the side why not? To anyone else who orders, you’ll have to pay extra. Will never order from this place again.

Best chinese food in the area! I come here with my family when we crave chinese food. Best eggrolls in town!

Tried Egg rolls, General Tao chicken, general Tao tofu and veg fried rice.
Tofu was amazing but the rest was below par. Rice isn't served on the side of general Tao in this place.

Stars strictly for the egg rolls - they’re famous here, but not cheap: they come to $3 per roll. Rest of the menu is okay, except western-style Chinese food.

We had eggrolls, fried calamari, ginger beef and red curry beef. The first 3 were great, red curry beef ok. We were served nicely and fast on a Friday night, the portions were generous.

This is our go-to restaurant for Chinese food in NDG ever since we started restaurant hunting after moving into the neighborhood and have been recommending it to friends since.

Food is well seasoned, not drowning in oil. Their fried dishes seemed to be fried in clean oil and you can tell because it tastes just as good the day after (dirty oil turns us away from other Chinese restos). Chili oil is mild but delish - I take one for home everytime.

Price is like every other resto these days, so no complaints.

It hits nostalgia every time I go here. Its Canadian style Chinese food done verrrry good.

Also thank you for being the honour of our daughter's first place to try Chinese food hahahah
