The Coldroom

The only interesting thing was the secret entrance. It was a basement bar with lousy drinks and a poor bartender.

Most speakeasies have an air of pretension about them. Surly bartenders, lights so low you can’t see your drink in front of you. The Coldroom isn’t that. The staff were extremely helpful and took great care of us. The on menu drinks were creative and well balanced. Had a great time. Highly recommended.

Great service. Good cocktails. Try the Lui Tini. The vibe is great. It’s still small enough to feel secluded. My first speakeasy so hard to compare. Try it out see for yourself.

It's an underground bar, literally. A small menu, but some interesting options. They warned us that one we ordered was spicy, and they were not wrong. It was also punchy with flavours and a fun drink. As it diluted, the flavours changed and the spice took longer to hit the tongue. We also had a creamy cocktail to sooth the palette, which was tasty and flavorful.

Always love bringing new friends here because of its secret location and design! Their drinks are very unique and strong! On the pricer side but worth it. On a hot summer day, it does get a bit warm in there

Incredible service and atmosphere with a laid back attitude. Great music, great cocktails, and even better people. Would highly recommend.

Gourmet cocktails mixed in a speakeasy-style hideaway with exposed-brick walls & wood beams.

Wasn’t sure what to expect but this was totally worthy of the hype! Recommend going early or late so you can sit (there are a few tables and a long bar), and asking the bartender for cocktail recos based on what you typically like. We loved our cocktails and the relaxed vibe and would definitely come back on another Montreal trip! Only negative was that we ordered olives/appetizers and never received them, bartender just completely forgot to pass along the order to the kitchen, so we didn’t get them but were fine without.

The door wasn't easy to find. Thankfully, the pequeno bar was able to provide help. Inside, it's fun!

Shhhh, speakeasy.too cool to talk about, you're not supposed to know of this place. It's too hip for you anyway, also.there are celebrities here often.

The food and service is good, but there's not enough space. We had to share a table with strangers which was not comfortable.

Great speakeasy with excellent quality, tasty cocktails and friendly staff. Good system at the door using a online waiting list so you don't have to stand waiting for a table and can wander off elsewhere

One if the coolest bars I've been to. The service is incredible and the drinks were thoughtfully created. Very cool atmosphere, cosy underground vat with loud music and dim lighting.

A nice place to chill with friends. The drinks are especially the surprise cocktails were excellent and our waiter was particularly friendly and it made for a nice addition to the evening

Best speakeasy in Montreal! A must if you're visiting the city. Staff is excellent and setting is amazing.

It's a small bar in the basement of a building with expensive mixed drinks. Ok unimpressed. Sound system was good.

This place is awesome. The bartenders really know how to make a drink at least that's what all of my friends said (I don't drink) the place is relatively hidden with a seperate entrance and exit. Its location and feel is amazing while the prices can be a bit high I think it's definitely worth stopping by.

C'était l'un de mes premiers bars "speakeasy" et je dois dire que je ne suis pas déçue! Endroit chaleureux, cosy et personnel aimable et serviable! Je n'ai pas mangé, mais les cocktails sont tous aussi différents, surprenants, maîtrisés et recherchés les uns que les autres! Merci pour cette belle découverte

Visited this amazing speakeasy with my boyfriend last night. It was our first time at such an establishment and we sat at the bar to really see how everything was done. The bartender Aiden was a true delight and a great conversationalist. He gave us some cool history of the Montreal speakeasy scene and delivered PERFECT cocktails to us. The flair of the bartenders made them great fun to watch. Although we only stayed for 1 drink as our pockets were running a little thin after a great weekend of dining, Aiden provided an excellent recommendation for another nearby bar with a Sunday drink special. We really appreciated that especially, and it was a great visit from start to finish! Look forward to visiting the city again and making another stop in.:)

I couldn’t imagine having a great time on a Wednesday night but I did. Coming to think of it, that Wednesday night was probably the best Wednesday I have had in a very long time. The Coldroom is incredible by any standards.
Niko is not Greek but has my uncle’s name, who I will never forget, and makes great cocktails in addition to being a generous and patient host.
Now, after more than a few drinks very early Thursday morning and the walk home were less than fantastic but Wednesday night was still awesome.
I don’t care who you are or what you like. Go to The Coldroom. You will love it! If you don’t, I think psychiatric care is part of the “free” health care taxes get us in this icy cold city that The Coldroom makes much warmer.

The vibe was awesome.you enter via a black door with a doorbell, no sign in standard speakeasy style. The drinks were good but the menu was super limited with an offering of only about 10 cocktail choices. One of the cocktails a Gin drink sounded good but had beer in it, and I asked about making something similar without the beer and/or what the bartenders favorite gin drink was, something they like to make and was steered back to the menu to select a different choice. The choice that I made was delicious but part of the appeal of a good craft cocktail place is the ability to make custom drinks.

I really enjoyed myself at The Coldroom. I enjoyed the little adventure in trying to find the place and having to give a password to get down in true speakeasy style. The atmosphere has a good energy and the servers were all fun. They have many signature drinks to choose from although I did find them a bit pricey. The standard mix drinks are typical prices. There isn’t a hell of a lot of room down and it was packed there but we still didn’t have an issue finding a spot to sit. I’d definitely visit the coldroom again on my next visit to Montreal!
