Prices are higher than other grocery stores like Maxi, Super C, plus there are only 2 cashiers working most of the time which make the checkout slow.

Not even a 1 star. This place deals in false pretense. Went to go buy Canadian feta, and the person at the counter rings it up at 17.00$ kg, at which I tell them its wrong, the price is 9.90$ kg, to which not there fault, goes speaks to the manager, and they tell me that they have "no more" of that feta. #liars

baffles how this market is still open.

Not much has changed since last comment.

Other than the fruits, and vegetables, the prices are substantially higher than your average Maxi, or Super-C supermarket. For example: a basic jar of peanut butter sells here for twice the price than at other supermarkets.

Love this place. Bagel shop inside store. Butcher and olive bar and fresh fish. Also a large kosher section.

We shop there often and always notice one of the men working there not wearing a mask. He is rude and doesn't care. A poor example of following protocol when everyone else is.

STANK!
I’ve never in my life been in a place, any type of place, even an outhouse, that smelled as bad as that market. Even with a mask on for COVID, the supermarket smelled like rotting fish.

Right when you walk in, you begin to smell it, as you progress straight back to the fish counter, the smell grabs you by the base of your skull and begging to disintegrate your brains. By the time you make it to the actual fish counter, you are either dead or breathing from your mouth. There’s no way anyone could humanly let a friend go in there. Once you turn left and head towards the dairy area, things get claustrophobic and more oppressive, it’s almost as if their ventilation system takes in air from a pipe that starts in Hell.

Once I was in the meat section - the smell of rotting fish compounded with animal decay.

At that point I turned to the person who I was with, and said, I’m sorry but I am going to throw up if I stay in this store, it smells so bad, I have to leave.

And I did and waited in front and then could still smell the waft of hot death
Come out of the door every time someone managed to survive the stench and leave. I had to go wait near where we parked and hope my shoes didn’t have a coating of what ever was in the store.

Once we got in the car, I was dismayed because the other person somehow had an aura of stank…. I left my shoes in the garage and will bleach the bottoms just in case.

So while I’m told it’s a great store, I just don’t see how someone from Health Canada doesn’t shut them down. When something smells so bad, there has to be rotting fish and or meat!

Local Med grocery store, not part of thd big Loblaws chain. Has its own st viateur bagel oven in the back, which is great

Honestly even during these covid times the place is still filthy. Could use a complete renovation

Very good shopping. Is sort of discount produce. Good selections. Bargains. Excellent service if you need help. The staff is friendly. I go often.

I like Esposito everything they have and. The place to shop is very cheap, the meat is always discounted and the prices are very good

My wife and I have been going there for years. Great market to get all sorts of products that might not be easy to find other places. Super nice people as well.

A bit run down. Not comparable to a multi-milion Dollard supermarket. Customers are of older age. Theres a saint-viateur bagel shop inside too!

It's a family owned business that has been around for many many years. The staff is very helpful & kind and they make you feel as one of the family when you've been shopping there. Highly recommend this grocery store to everybody.

Great place to grocery shop. U can find anything u want in a good not too big not too small setting. Very economical especially the fruits veggies, meat and deli. Plus one of the best store baked apple pies that u can find at a lower price than any other grocery store. In addition they have a separate fish market which is amazing and the kicker is you can also pick up fresh bagels with a st viateur kiosk in the back. And the thing I love most is that I am in and out very quickly. Rarely ever any line ups.

Love this authentic and local grocery store. It’s also a good bargain compared to the larger chain grocery stores

Amazing store and staff, sometimes good specials and sometimes a bit over my spending limit
i still love the place
great bagels and fish, super baker in the back with an amazing kosher section.
05 June 2020 14:46
Very low quality and old stuff, specially the green meat and chicken. I was there this afternoon, it’s not clean at all, the ice creams are melted and frozen again, the only positive point is the staff, they’re polite
24 April 2020 21:36
Lot of choice but not the cleanest place in town, sadly. St. Viateur bagels on site, good reason to go.

I haven't been in this market in yours although I passed it on the way to the expressway. This time I managed to whip up my camera on my phone because in ville Saint-Laurent there are planes fly overhead.
On a whim I photograph the plane and lo and behold it was branded Qatar underneath. How cool is
In the store I got some very fresh and better priced sweet peppers, and the rest were sort of indulgences that were a bit pricey.frankly I found the samosas way too oily and the sauce colourful but really watered down.otherwise they have a plethora of vegetables and much to my big time surprise they have a huge kosher section in there at the back on the left side. I didn't know this and I'm not kosher but for those that are this could be a good resorts for you. The service was good and they have lots of staff and they're friendly at the cash and there are fruits and vegetables all seem to be of excellent quality. The stalk of celery was $1.59 for the package and it is tasty. I think I ate all my other indulgences so I can't tell you what they were. It's a nice store with good quality food and easy parking near the expressway and it's definitely an old standard probably now bought out by somebody else and run by them.the good thing about Montreal and our diversity of ethnic origins and people's, is that we have multiple choices of all sorts of types of food from all over the world. I guess most cities have become international by now in the year 2020, but it's nice to have a number of choices within one store.
It's a good store, it's decent, and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable because they're all fully involved it seems and nobody sitting on their hands lollygagging or just hanging around. Everybody's working. I also noticed a couple of people went over to some open window that I thought maybe they were making lunch sandwiches orsomething however it turns out that there are actually got a st. Viateur bagel franchise right in the store and they make fresh Montreal bagels st-viateur style! With the real st. Viateur sign! Now how fabulous is that. I should raise my four star do a four-and-a-half star because of that however we can't do that here. I'll go back again and next time, for the bagels.

I strongly suggested them to clean the bathroom properly because the piss smell is very strong. They don't care to much about higiene, they don't use gloves when serving or manipulating raw bread.
Sometimes they send their warehouse clerk to serve in the ham section, it would be alright if he was clean and used gloves, witch is not the case. Looked like a mechanic dirty.

Specials are only valid for a day or two.
So you can't do your shopping in one day.
Store didn't smell very good.
The cashier was pleasant.

Love the fresh bagels and amazing salmon the cut on the spot. As a grocery shop it's very outdated.
13 May 2019 12:17
Really shabby for a grocery store, especially compared to what else is out there these days. However they have a few specialty items that make it worth the trip, and arguably may be the only reason this place doesn't go under. There's a St-Viateur bagel inside making fresh out of the oven bagels (cash only). Also, huge selection of kosher items, with a kosher butcher, and kosher bakery. Plus there is a very good fish monger (you also have to pay separately here but they accept cards). Poissonerie Casablanca makes the most amazing house smoked salmon. Seriously - It's that good. So you can get your bagels, lox, and cream cheese all in one place.

You have the feeling when you enter this place, that this supermarket was not renovated since the 60's! However, they have a good variety of vegetable, fish, cheese and exotic food. Prices are extremely reasonable though!
