The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Vieux Montreal

The Keg in Old Montreal is fantastic. I've eaten here many times and will certainly be back. The food is great and not overpriced and the service and atmosphere is excellent too.

Surprisingly consistent, and reasonably priced. One of the best choices is the baseball cut sirloin.

To be honest, I was prepared to give a flaccid review due to its public reputation. But every aspect of my evening, from food to service, was impeccable and enjoyable. I would recommend this establishment to any and all visitors to Montreal.

Always a pleasure considering it's a chain restaurant. When most places are closing around it, the Keg has got you!

Being a vegetarian i only ate Escargot and fries which was delicious. My friends had prime rib which they liked a lot. The vibe was great and server was very friendly.

J’adore Le Keg c’est mon restaurant préféré pour toutes occasion. Tout est excellent surtout la sauce whisky et les crevettes farcies comme entrée, un vrai délice!

What a steakhouse promises, you get here. A selection of different steaks, you can choose the side dishes yourself. It is even possible as a 2-course menu. With a selection of different salads to start with.
The ambience leaves nothing open, it is very cozy and warmly furnished. The staff friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately, like in all restaurants, I don't understand the TV.
If you come with the doors opening until 6 p.m, you can enjoy the happy hour, in which various drinks are offered at a lower price.

Ordered a fillet mignon for it to end up chewy, felt like the meat was microwaved. The portion of fries is not that generous either. I was overall disappointed specially that I had heard a lot of good things about the place before hand.

I cannot highlight loudly enough the wonderful, fantastic and exceptional service I got for my group of 10 last night! Le service fournit par Alex et par Nate était plus qu'extraordinaire, et m'a réellement impactée. À partir du processus de réservation pour groupe que j'ai pu effectuer en ligne qui était simple, suivi des confirmations par téléphone de vive voix et par courriel/et SMS, tout était avec une approche chaleureuse. Ils ont pris le temps de questionner afin de mieux connaître mon groupe et mes invités, afin d'être fins prêts. Sur place, excellent accueil. Nous étions deux avec des allergies sévères à la table, et Alex s'est assurée de les noter et en a fait part à Nate qui est venu nous voir à la table pour proposer une option compatible avec les choix que nous avions faits au niveau des repas. Les serveurs étaient bien aux faits des allergies aussi, et le mentionnaient lorsqu'ils venaient poser les assiettes à notre table.

De mon côté, je n'ai pas pris mon plat habituel. J'ai voulu m'aventurer vers un autre plat au menu qui est tout aussi exceptionnel et je me suis rapidement rendue compte que ce n'était pas le choix adapté à ma palette de goûts personnels, et Alex en a fait part à Nate, qui est tout de suite intervenu pour sauver ma soirée, et mon souper!

Le service était hors pair, il était grandiose!

So as an old keg veteran: That hasn't changed for the better! Although poorly attended, the best seats are not occupied! And a lot of what was good and tried and tested is no longer made. The lobster is no longer served like this and everything is served lukewarm! Actually lousy

Our server was very knowledgeable regarding the various steak cuts and cooking options. The steaks were about the best we've ever had.
As a lovely gesture, I was presented with a cake with a sparkler for my birthday.

What a wonderful way to celebrate an anniversary, my wife and I were celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary and when we sat down we were greeted by a hostess with 2 glasses of Prosecco and wished a Happy Anniversary. Our waiter Felix was simply amazing and we had a wonderful meal ended with a great dessert which we shared. Atmosphere of Old Montreal and the restaurant you can't beat. Thank You we will definitely be back.

Nous avons eu un excellent service de la part de Dalil. Vraiment hors pair!

Le saumon en croûte de pistaches était parfaitement exécuté.

Menu enfant abordable et complet.

Du côté moins positif:
La carte des vins est très limitée. Et ça m’a étonné. Du Georges duboeuf ou du Kim crawford. On a réussi à trouver un pinot de l’Oregon mais c’est un peu de base. De plus aucune information à savoir si certains vins sont en importation privée ou bio ou nature.

Sommes toutes une belle expérience pour un groupe pour un anniversaire

It’s all from the atmosphere, to the service to the food! Outstanding and amazing customer care and service! Delightful people that we’ve met from strangers as well as our friends. Very helpful even when finding a spot to park or paying for parking. It was busy during the F1. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience.

Oh wow! Nous n'avions pas beaucoup de temps pour souper. À peine 1 heure car nous avions des billets de spectacle. Le serveur a été extraordinaire. On a même eu le temps pour une bouteille de vin. La côte de boeuf au jus est fantastique. Ça fond dans la bouche. Hummmmm

All the food served was excellent. The calamari, the New York steak and the mushroom. I also want to thank Pierre Marc for his great service. It is the place for steak in Montreal.

06/18/23 We came here after the race on a Sunday night and well parking was impossible which made us late. If you're new to the area be sure to plan ahead and be prepared to look for free parking. Walking in you had the option on to sit at the bar/lounge or in the dining room. We opted for the dining room and we had Yoan. We started with the Baked Brie and the Garlic Cheesy Toast. The Brie was outstanding. The pesto was so flavorful and fresh and the spicy jam that is served with it was out of this world. The garlic cheesy toast is an absolute classic and the fresh garlic is really complimented on there it truly left us speechless at both appetizers. There is also fresh bread served with a savory compound butter that is at perfect temperature and was also very good.

Unfortunately that's where things took a turn. We waited 35 minutes for our entrees which comes down one of three issues. They either are understaffed, the front of house sat everyone down at once or they really got held behind. Either way waiting 35 minutes for 2 steaks is inexcusable BUT! We were treated by Yoan very respectfully as well as the manager came up to us and apologized many many times and I must say the customer service really saved this for me as I will return next year for sure. They are great people there especially the manager. The ambiance is also perfect I might add even at the lounge.

Moving on to entrees we had the 22oz prime rib and it is truly incredible. Especially with the red wine jus. Absolutely perfect. I had the 12oz peppercorn sirloin. Unfortunately it came blue. I don't appreciate receiving steak that was carelessly sent out by the kitchen as they knew they were behind on food. Nonetheless it was fixed and it was perfect medium rare as asked and I must say it is super flavorful and tasty. The whisky sauce is incredible on the steak and it really compliments it well. Garlic mashed potatoes was incredible and worth getting. Unfortunately I wanted to have desert but with the timing from appetizer to entree I was bloated by the end so I didn't feel like eating desert. The manager comped us on half the food we ordered which we appreciate and again I will be returning at this location despite the mistakes that had happened. I truly recommend this restaurant even though I didn't have the best of service their customer service is top notch!

My husband made a reservation here for our anniversary, and I absolutely loved it! The service was outstanding, and the food was good.

The usual experience when I go to keg. Great food, great staff, great cocktails and great environment.

Magnifique steakhouse dans la rue animée de St Paul. Essayez la spécialité maison: la côte de bœuf façon Keg. Viande tendre et juteuse à souhait!

Excellent food and service. The New York strip-loin was amazing. Our server Pierre Marc was a real gem I wish all servers learn from him. Will be back for sure.

Très bonne place pour les amateurs de viandes! Le Best choix de la carte la cote de bœuf en cuisson Chicago. Excellent! Très bon cocktails, vin et super serveur (Alex).

Par contre dommage que malgré une réservation faite 2 semaines en avance son nous disent que nous ne pouvons pas être en terrasse et que pour une place en terrasse c’est premier arrivé, premier servi et qu’il y a une attente de 45min. Bref seul point négatif qui devrait être améliorer pour privilégier les personnes qui anticipent leur venue.

Made a reservation for 9h45 on Open Table. When I arrived (10 minutes late), they told us the kitchen was closed. Open Table said there was a 15 minute grace period. Why allow you to make a reservation if the kitchen would be closed? Hostess offered us drinks instead. I didn’t want to go there for drinks, I wanted steak! Disappointing experience.

Their reputation is well-deserved. Excellent food. Excellent service. We were celebrating my daughter's 40th (mentioned in online booking). The waitress made a point of marking the occasion and the restaurant brought a slice of chocolate ice cream cake with a sparkler (I provided the singing). Class act and look forward to visiting again.
