THE STANDARD WESTMOUNT

Great place to hang out and put in a bit of work. Its a nice cafe with good seating and I really like the cafe there! I usually go for the espresso but I’ve ordered the cappuccino and Latte, and it came out amazing!

Great cafe in the westmount/sherbrooke area and I’m glad I live around it.

Decent place, minimalist-millennial-ish design. Better than the over-busy and whatever-whatever-shoot-me-now-this-is-just-another Starbucks two or three blocks away.

They have these oddly flavoured latte mixes (ie.lavender, corn) they sell in pouches or make for you on-site and they’re kind’ve fun. Not much place to sit but that makes the place less crowded. The pastries are ok. The overall feel of place is ok. The other Standard in the Mile End is nearly identical but just seems to “pop” more because it has more natural light and better people-watching opportunities.

What I particularly like is dark and bohemian-esque handsome stubbled French-from-France guy who often mans the place (as well as the other Standard in the Mile-End). He’s got a lot of character, doesn’t speak much, and has a Javier-Bardem kind’ve look. He just seems a bit salty, sly, and like he’s got hot takes on the culture but won’t share them unless you play it cool and get to know him. He fascinates me.

Ils vendent des sacs de plusieurs cafés de spécialité, mais j’ai eu le sentiment que le café qu’ils utilisent pour le café fait sur place est de basse qualité et trop torréfié (les grains dans le moulin étaient presque noirs, si j’ai halluciné c’est que la machine a besoin d’un bon détartrage parce que le café avec un goût de brûlé). J’ai par contre eu une bonne expérience avec la barista et j’ai trouvé que l’endroit était propre et agréable.

The Standard is anything but standard.

Their opening hours are completely random, I've been many times when they are supposed to be open and they've been closed.

Their baristas all do coffee differently, so you never know if you'll like the coffee you got yesterday today. Sometimes it's served dangerously hot, sometimes they change ratios, some baristas forget to ask for milk or sugar.

They are CONSTANTLY out of ingredients (milk types, out of sugar (how?), out of certain types of coffees, etc.).

If they have any pastries at all, they are often stale and rock hard.

The lids on their to-go cups are terrible and spill on the sides, I think they switched suppliers because it used to not be this way.

However, when you get a good barista, the coffee is really good, they're super nice and they are dog friendly. I just really wish they got their s*** in order.

Spent the day there
In the morning, quite cosy and relaxed atmosphere, although toilets were not clean.
In the afternoon, different waitress and the music was absolutely awful. Loud metal music all afternoon, impossible to study, read or have a nice conversation - quite in contrast with the decor and feel of the place

Great coffee but wouldn’t recommend for studying/work. It’s too small and can sometimes be crowded

The barista didn't even know the origin of the coffee he was preparing. Didn't have any options to eat (no pastries at all). Could be better. The coffee was good.

Worst matcha latte I’ve ever had - I don’t know how it’s possible to mess it up? Friendly service and nice atmosphere.

Great coffee, but rickety outdoor seating, water bowls for dogs filled with algae, no pastries at 9: 45 on a Saturday morning, and a very unwelcoming atmosphere inside (you could hear a pin drop). All easy fixes.

The croissant I got was crunchy and dry. I inform the cashier and she was careless. I didn’t argue and just throw the croissant in garbage as she told me to do. Didn’t receive any apology or positive attitude from her. Starbucks is 3 minutes far from your place and so many other famous cafeterias as well. I believe the owner should be more serious and professional about his/her business.

Over the last 10 days we have tried 4 or 5 nearby coffee shops and this one is comfortably our favourite. It is the furthest away from where we are staying but worth the extra walk as the coffee has much more flavour than the other places that we have visited and they know how to make a proper flat white too which is always a bonus!

I didn't like their Matcha latte, very subtle taste and expensive (considering the portion which I ordered small one)

My go-to coffee place! Love it, great coffee, nice baristas, good ambiance. So glad we have it in the community!

If there is a choice, I would not give a single star. Feels like it’s cheating customers. The old school espresso marks the same flavor of this Maya monologue. Also the barista said it’s pretty much the same.

So I gave it a try. Been drinking old school for almost six years, I am sorry that I found the taste is a bit different. It is as the same as the epic espresso was written, clean and sweet. Why bother covering it with a lousy name? Such a shame.

I will never come back. Thankfully, the real parallel 49 is opened in Montreal. I could enjoy a quality coffee time at a true place.

It was ok. I thought it was like a fancy coffee shop but it's a very casual place. Their drinks were just ok.

. 3 ans et demie sans café! L'expérience de ma première tasse se devait alors d'en être une des plus agréable. Et bien, ce fut le cas aujourdhui. Un double expresso noir fait avec le café Epic de 49th Parallel Pas vraiment mon choix de grain de café idéal, mais bref, c'etait génial! Grâce au maître barista du moment. Cette expérience m'a donc convaincu que la richesse d'une expérience caféinée dépend en grande partie de la dernière personne de la chaîne du processus qui sera en contact avec cette Or en grain qu'est le café. Merci au barista, Santiago.

The standard cafe is literally your standard cafe with standard drinks. Prices are slightly high but average for typical coffee shops. Nice atmosphere and carries dairy substitutes including oat milk which is harder to find. 4 stars for the lack of variety in menu. Would recommend chai latte

Coffee was good. Decor is nice. Been a couple times but have only tried coffees. Love to support local shops! Staff members have always been polite.

Not the best espresso I've had but it's still good. They sell fresh roasts from various quality roasters. The service is friendly. The seating is cozy but limited.

The ambiance and coffee in this place - amazing. All the staff that I have met are wonderful - no matter what language they speak.

The dessert was very good, the coffee so so, the barista was nice, calm place, small, i would say on the expensive side but not completely sure

I went for the first time to the Westmount location on a quiet morning yesterday. The barista was unwelcoming and unfriendly and seemed annoyed about being disrupted from being on his phone. The coffee itself was quite good though, so I can’t write this location off completely.

The star is for the interior - beautiful. The service however was terrible - amazingly unfriendly and off putting. Coffee was average - had a burned taste - not worth the money. Paistries are exorbantly overpriced. Save your money not worth the 50 percent overprice

Excellent latte. Smooth with perfect amount of bitterness I enjoyed it thoroughly. The barista was kind and helpful
