Prices were high for what the restaurant is. It was too crowded for me, I’d be at peace if it was mentioned in the description that it would be a loud and crowded place… I wasn’t expecting such close quarters to other patrons and having to be so close to the servers rear end when they’d serve the table beside us. The starters were good, oysters were absolutely fantastic and the tar tar remarkable, the mains were dull… cappelletti pasta was too thick, undercooked and over salted, and the duck dish’s other components which were the sausage and the croquette thing didn’t make sense to the orientation of it all. The server that we had looked depressed which really set the tone for the whole meal; however the other servers were actually good, I’d wish they served us instead of the other girl. I brought my aunt for her 42nd birthday here and I wish it would’ve been better.

Had a fabulous meal - service impeccable. The cod fish croquette was a little salty for my liking but overall a 5 star experience. They really care for the customer experience.

My husband and I were really disappointed with our dining experience at Tuck Shop. We were celebrating our anniversary and we had made reservations. The restaurant was empty when we went in except for 1 couple. They sat us exactly next to that couple (as if we were a table of 4). The next couple who came in were also seated exactly to our left. Very awkward and uncomfortable for all of us. The cocktail was 19$ plus tax plus tip. I saw the bartender shake it and prepare it in 10 seconds, not even a garnish on it, what a joke. How hard is it to put a sprig of thyme to amp it up? Hoping the food would impress us after all the rave reviews, it really didn’t. We took the hanger steak and fries, horrible meat cut. My knife couldn’t even cut it, imagine chewing it, so nervy. The pork chop was just ok, nothing exciting and would not want to order it again. We had the chanterelle starter on focaccia, once again, nothing memorable and nothing tying it together.

Spontaneously walked in here and got a spot for two for an aperitif or two—no regrets at all! Oysters are some of the freshest I’ve had in the city, bluefin tuna crudo was also very fresh and citrusy. We also got the focaccia and duck prosciutto which were delicious and accompanied by really great olive oil. Also—asked the bartender for a dirty martini, and it ended up being one of the best I’ve had. You will leave satisfied!
As for the atmosphere—young (no kids) and old, dressed up and casual. Bathrooms were clean too. I will say it does get quite loud in there so keep that in mind.

Main: the beef really tasted like fish which suggests some kind of contamination with the fish station.

The dishes were a bit too salty.

It feels like the kitchen staff was not the main kitchen team. It lacked finess overall.

The staff barley apologized. Not the most welcoming staff, cordial but nothing much.

Also they almost charged us twice.

Ambiance parfaite, staff accueillant, service attentionné et professionnel, bel équilibre des saveurs dans les plats, très belle carte des vins! Les prix sont parfaitement raisonnables et la qualité est au rendez-vous.:)

Because their back terrasse has a roof, it’s possible to make outdoor reservations. I have a depressed immune system, so when restos started opening up after the pandemic, these reservations meant I could have the first dining-in experience I’d had in literally years.

The service is always top-notch. This isn’t what I’d term a “child-friendly” place as far as the menu goes, but recently, previous reservations fell through, and I was casting about for a place to take guests, including a well-behaved 8-year-old. The kid in question felt a bit shy at first (“Is this place kid friendly? ” she whispered to me), but the server didn’t blink an eye, and once an extra order of fries was procured for a steak (shared, sauce on the side for further inspection), all was well.

I’m not saying to bring your kids there, but I do think class isn’t about what you wear or how much money you spend, but how you treat people. The food here is, of course, always excellent, but we keep going back because they make you feel like they care about what they serve and how they serve it, which in my mind, makes them a real classy joint.

As a side note, they have a lot of stuff with local mushrooms, so you’ll be quite happy if that’s your jam. Sadly, I have an instinctual aversion to the texture of the darn things, but I make sure to take my partner here from time-to-time so he can have some good mushroom experiences.

Superbe expérience hier au Tuck Shop, la nourriture est excellente, les portions généreuses ce qui permet de partager aisément. Ce qui nous a le plus interpelées, c’est le service: exceptionnel du début à la fin. Les personnes sont souriantes et sympathiques, et on passe un très bon moment. Nous avons soupé en terrasse mais le décor à l’intérieur est simple et raffiné, de très bon goût.

Just celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary at Tuck Shop and it was just amazing amazing amazing! From the outstanding choices of scallops crudo, matane shrimp, beef tartare, swordfish, and triangular asparagus and ricotta pasta, everything was delicious. Five stars to Kirsten who served us - she was an absolute gem! Overall incredible service! Thank you so much for an incredible evening!

Food was too pricy for what it was, and they squeezed you next to other people.

The starters were OK:
Squid was a bit dry and small, but ok, and the pork belly was quite good. The foccacia was probably the highlight.

The mains were deceiving:
the duck was dry and chewy, and the risotto was probably the worst I had in my life: not cooked enough, watery, and overly salty.

The wine was decently priced, and the service was really good!

Will not return. I think anyone with proper MTL restauration experience will find this place as not worth it.

Excellent small plates and entrees. Tuck Shop is well worth it. The food is incredible and the service exceptional. The staff were present without being overbearing. I cant recommend the pork belly, or the duck enough. Both were incredible. Despite being quite busy the atmosphere is cozy creating a fun bustling vibe.

Loved loved loved the food. Staff very friendly and efficient. I like that they clean the table between each service. We had bunch of plates and shared everything and not one missed. I would recommend the fried artichoke it was my favourite. The place is quite small and the table are close together which is not an issue to me but it definitely feels intimate.

Take all my money! My husband and I spent a week in Montreal for our honeymoon. I snagged a table at Tuck Shop by luck - 5pm on a Friday - and really wasn't sure what to expect. We couldn't see the current menu in advance, and for our Friday night honeymoon meal, it felt like a bit of a gamble. Turns out to be the best meal of the entire week. The service was excellent. The decor in the restaurant is understated, clean, and leaves room for the dishes to shine. Amazing mushroom starter, the best pork chop of my life, and an incredible halibut dish. Really incredible takes on what you think sounds like a familiar dish - with so much more in store.

Amazing steak, tagliatelle, wines. Lovely service, too. Not only lived up to the hype, greatly exceeded it!

Definetly worth the price. Absolutely incredible offerings and a very well stocked bar. I want to spend a moment on the focaccia bread.its advertised as a side / appetizer but its legitimately the best bread I've ever had. Do yourself a favour and make sure to clean your plate with a piece. I don't want to overemphasize it but its frankly unreasonable that such a small insignificant item on the menu is this good. I mean, the mains are good, but the garlic bread is effectively ambrosia 15/10 will go again and will dress more fancy next time. Not because there is a dress code, but the food is so good you should dress to impress it. (Wear black? Maybe this is a mtl thing but everyone is wearing black)

Came here with a group of 12 - we provided some high level detail about the type of dishes we preferred and they delivered an amazing family style meal. The food, portion sizes, and service were all on point. The restaurant had a great vibe too - hip, welcoming, neighborhood vibes. Of the three restaurants we dined at (including Damas) while in Montreal, this was by far the best.

So glad I discovered this gem of a restaurant where I will be a regular for a long time. Food so good it’s ridiculous.

Delightful contemporary cuisine at relatively reasonable prices. Very comparable to Joe Beef, but only 2/3rds the price. Tartare and crudo were spot-on. Pork dish and pasta dish were a huge hit. Really everything was well seasoned and they didn't miss a beat on anything. Also excellent cocktails.

Tuck Shop was wonderful. The owner told me, it is all about the ingredients, the people/team who prepare and serve the food and the attitude. All where fantastic.if you are in Montreal, don't miss it.

Overall, a very nice meal with one exception but they handled it very well. Our rookie waiter was very curteous but not completely in sync yet. I'm sure we'll have a 5 star experience when we go back.

There aren’t any words to explain how amazing our experience was here! We reserved the bar and our experience was beyond expectations and the best in Montreal. Jonathan and Marco-who we have deemed 2-shakes Marco are not only incredible humans, but stellar hosts and companions through an incredible journey of beautifully, passionately made food and drinks. From the wine, to the oysters, to the lobster salad and even focaccia bread-to the delicately made cocktails and dessert, every minute was one we wish we could savor forever! Thank you for an incredible experience, company and the best meal we had during our Formula 1 visit to this beautiful city.

Still holding its ground after many years with excellent food and great service. Always great to have waiting staff that know the menu inside out. This part of town is also "A vibe".

You pay for what you get. Quality food, quality service.

4 people was roughly $480, but we ate and drank well.

My favorite restaurant in Montreal. Wonderful food, amazing staff and an modest chef/owner spending most of his nights shucking oysters. High end food in a casual atmosphere. Truly a treasure! Oh, and an honourable mention to the desserts made by the chef/owner's mom.
The only thing negative I have to say about this place is that it has become very loud. The music could be turned down significantly, Which would make conversation easier.
I never understood why this restaurant doesn't get mentioned more on top Montreal restaurant lists.

Incredible experience since walking in the door, once at our table the server greeted us with the best service and continued to do so until we left. The food is prepared so carefully and with great flavours and techniques. Sommelier helped us choose a fantastic wine. When we left, we felt like almost sad with everyone saying goodbye to us as we were all friends. It’s noticeable that everyone that works there cares about the client and about how the restaurant presents to these clients. It feels that everyone wants to represent their restaurant as if they were all the owners with the help of a good manager and staff that shows how much they care, transpires to a beautiful experience. It’s very obvious that they are running things right! This is honestly refreshing because some restaurants the better they get, the service worsens and this is really not the case here. I’ll be going back any chance I get!

Funky fitout, awesome service and delicious food. Everyone was so nice and had great knowledge of food and the wine pairing. Our main meals were fresh, light and so tasty. I had the pasta of the day and it was spot on. Deserts were Devine. Best apple and pecan pie I have ever had.

I was in Montreal for a week, visited quite a couple of restaurant, some really famous ones, and Tuck shop is hands down my favorite of all of them. The food was out of this world. I got the octopus and hanger steak and they were both super delicious. Also got a seasonal cocktail that wasn't even on the menu and it was bomb. The vibe and service were all really cool too. I'll definitely be back if I come to Montreal again

Très bon endroit ou bien manger et à prix raisonnable pour la qualité offert. Service un peu rapide, mais compréhensible compte tenu de la grandeur de leur salle à manger.

Vous avez mis sur pieds un equipe de feu. Les 3 personnes que nous ont servi était connaissantes, professionnelles, passionnés et avenantes. Les petites attentions de votre staff sont remarquées et appréciées.

Ça faisait quelques années que je n’étais pas venu au Tuck Shop et malgré une pandémie et un manque de main d’œuvre généralisée vous avez su augmenter le niveau déjà élevé de votre établissement. Tout ça en conservant des prix raisonnables. Chapeau!

My wife and I have been coming back to Montreal a few times a year simply because of how vibrant the culinary scene is here in Montreal, and Tuck shop is easily hands down the best restaurant you need to try when you visit Montreal. The host is amazing, the attention to detail and attentiveness from the servers are exceptional, is the kind of services that will make your day, a team that cares about their restaurant and it reflects from every aspect of the meal. Needless to say, the food was amazing, and we can't wait to be back again!

The cuisine is exceptionally good, if pricey. But the noise level, and most of all, the rushed pace imposed on diners (on the Saturday night I went, at any rate) are significant downsides.

A great meal starting with a splendid market salad followed by a great flank steak. Great room and excellent service from Jeremy!

We had Xmas dinner here with work colleagues. As soon as my colleague tried oyster- he did not feel good: he turned green, said his stomach hurts. He could not eat anything the whole evening, he stayed with us just to keep company. I found food to be tasty and great looking, however by the time i got home everything changed. My stomach started to hurt, i puked all i ate. Not sure if it was oysters, freshness of food or cross-contamination at the kitchen but I am definitely not coming back to this place. Felt sick all weekends.
