Decent food, poor service. Our waiter tonight was inept and never checked on us. We had to flag him down in order to get him to even refill our water. I asked him for a drink three times and never received it. He was very kind and cheerful but he did not take care of the most basic things. We spent over two hours there just because it took him so long to take our orders and to bring us the bill. Because the service was exceptionally poor, I tipped 5%. While we were walking out, the waiter cornered me and told me that he is paid on tips alone and I am required to tip 15%. I complied and gave the additional ten percent that was demanded. I never tip under 20%, but the service was exceptionally poor and slow so I tipped a lower amount to compensate for the lost time and for the poor experience. The waiter was kind until it came to the conversation about the tips. I wouldn’t have posted a poor review if it weren’t for them going out of their way to force a tip out of me. So we are clear, I was in a group of only three people.

Probablement un des meilleurs restaurants pour bruncher (ou pour presque n'importe quel repas en faite), tant pour le service que pour la cuisine.
Les repas du soir sont particulièrement réussie et ceux du brunch sont vraiment variés. Je n'ai jamais été déçu par ce restaurant!

Amazing. Very good food and it arrived very quickly (something not very common in restaurants in the region). Friendly and fast service too. Ambient music at the right time and in very good taste.

The food was good. Loved the all-day breakfast option & menu had quite the variety. Shoutout to the servers- they are all so amazing.

I had dinner there on my birthday, the food was "Delicious" the "Atmosphere" was warm and friendly. I will visit the next time I'm in Montreal.

Good brunch (I took the waffle with strawberry, banana and English cream) and very fulfilling! Bonus: you can make reservation for groups on weekends! My friends also said their mimosas were good (especially the Strawberry one)

J'ai opté pour le burger Universel option poulet avec frites et un cappuccino. Mon plat était correcte, un peu sec en revanche le café n'était pas à la hauteur de mes espérances.et mon père qui a choisi la pizza chicken BBQ l'a trouvée trop sucrée et huileuse.

Plats délicieux, cadre sympathique et personnels souriants, j'ai beaucoup apprécié et je le recommande fortement.

Ce que j’aime de cet endroit est qu’il ne te font pas croire qu’il révolutionne la gastronomie avec un concept flou et de la nourriture trop chère. En fait c’est le genre d’endroit où tout est correct. La nourriture est bien, les prix sont honnêtes, le service est respectable. L’ambiance y est agréable! En deux mot: Simplicité, rapidité!

The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything I tasted melted in my mouths. Absolutely the best meal I had while in Montreal.

Excellente place pour déjeuner/bruncher/dîner! Très bon plats, pas mal de choix différents qui devront satisfaire tout un chacun. Les assiettes sont pas mal garnies ce qui devrait vous laisser sur votre faim. Les employé (e) s sont très sympathiques et l'endroit est plutôt classe je dois dire. Un conseil: allez-y suffisamment tôt si vous voulez éviter la file d'attente, mais ça en vaut la peine!

Good service, but food is average at best. Got the eggs benedict with montreal smoked meat and the hollandaise sauce was weirdly sour. Also very overpriced for what you get. I went to a $$$$ restaurant in the middle of Old Montreal that ended up being cheaper.

Also a great location - much to do around the place.

This is a great place for breakfast, served all day. Eggs Benny is fab and the staff is very nice

The Santa Fe chicken was very good. I was with my friends and I decided I just didn't feel like tipping. The waiter apologized for any bad service and I said no it wasn't bad but he then he continued by saying out loud that I did not give him a tip. I didn't appreciate being embarrassed like that in front of my friends.

Always fast, always friendly, always consistent.
You really can't ask for more in a restaurant.

Recommended for anyone, solo or with friends and family.

Food is still great, service is still helpful and smiling.

Slow service due to under staffed. The server was good, but still slow because he had to look after too many tables. Not sure about kitchen.
Took 20+ minutes to take order, another 20 min for food to come. Management needs to hire more!

Le service est rapide malgré l’achalandage élevé. Le déjeuner était bon (bénédictines) mais la sauce ordinaire.

I went to brunch with an older gentleman. He ordered an espresso after we ate, and when it hadn't arrived after 15 minutes, he told the waitress to forget it.

A man then brought the espresso anyway, and when my friend expressed his displeasure at the long wait, the man reacted as if he had been *vilely* insulted personally.

The man started telling my 80-year old friend that there was no need to be verbally abusive, and to "relax". I was shocked. I said "You don't tell *customers* to relax, that's incredibly rude. Let me speak to the manager. " - and the man said he *was* the manager.

If the owners of this restaurant read this, I encourage them to have a talk with that "manager" about politeness with the paying customers.

Breakfast very good would come back service and food were excellent. Make sure you order the eggs Benedict

Très belle terrasse. La nourriture est excellente et les assiettes bien garnis. Le service est toujours excellent. Tout le personnel est aimable.

Food was really bad and the service was bad as well except for the receptionist who was nice! And the server forced me to give at least 15% tip which is not understandable because the service was really bad.
Never going back to that place again!

Horrible! Do not go to this place especially towards the end of week. They take on more customers they can serve. Waited for 20 mins for the menu and 45 mins for the food before we just left. The servers don’t care. Save yourself the time and skip this place.

Super disappointing restaurant. It took 20 minutes after being seated for a server to even acknowledge us. Another 25 minutes before our orders of coffee arrived (45 minutes after sitting to get coffee.). It feels like you have to beg for a servers attention to get a coffee/water refill, just awful.

Our table had a few people order eggs benedict and each ones eggs came out completely different, with some being extremely overcooked to the point of an entirely solid yolk.a properly cooked poach egg should be the bare minimum for a restaurant the specialises in brunch. The hollandaise sauce also felt like it was out of a huge jar, certainly not fresh. On other orders, sides were forgotten. Not once did a server ask how it was or check up to see how.

There are too many good brunch places in Montreal to eat here, I'd certainly avoid it.

After waiting in line for a table, the drinks (black coffee) took over 1 hour after bring seated and the food took another 30-40min. Also got some of the orders wrongs. End of the day the food was just generic and nothing special at all.

Had breakfast here and everything was passable. Baked beans were not homemade, cretons was a little salty. Home fries were deep fried so more like chunks of french fries.

Normally the quality level would be fine but given the price and numerous options in this area, I would have expected better.

Service however was stellar. Friendly and fast and you'll never be left with an empty coffee cup or water glass.

Très bon. Mais je trouve que les tables sont trop tassé une contre l'autre. Aucune intimité. Si vous voulez un déjeuner en tête à tête romantique ce n'est pas la place.

Ça fait plusieurs visites, le service est impeccable et les tartares sont divins. Au plaisir d'y retourner.

Tried the steak here, a little pricey but it was worth it. At first I thought it was too small but in the end I could hardly finish it! The staff were super friendly and polite. The place was also nice and cozy.

Places that serves breakfast all day have a place in my heart. Universel seems like a tourist trap because it's in one of the most tourist streets in Montreal but it's not! The food is good, they always serve good portions, service is lovely and atmosphere is nice.

7.15pm Resto très peu Achalandé 20 Clients dns le Restaurant, Je commande une Pizza Alldress et demande d’avoir une demi portion de Frite à mon Serveur qui me rep qu’il va aller demander à son Gérant, (En espérant biensur qu’il va me revenir avec une Réponse.car je l’ai déjà demander à quelque reprise et on me l’a tjrs accepté/accordé). 10min s’écoule mon Serveur disparaît Tjrs pas de Réponse Et je reçois ma Pizza SANS Frite Le Gérant fait com si rien n’étais Je lui demande alors pour la fameuse/dite frite et me répond qu’il ne peux pas le faire. Je lui dit alors/demande Rétorque que le serveur aurais dù m’en aviser Et il me répond Ont n’est Occupé. Mmm Again Il y a 20Cliente dns le Resto dont certain on fini de manger et Jase a leur table Quand le Resto a une capacité d’Aprox 100Clients. ET/+ on ne m’offre NI poivre concassé NI Huile d’Olive pour que je puisse mettre sur ma Pizza com je le fait d’Habitute. Accueil Assez Satisfesant en Général mais le Service laisse plutôt à Désirer Il y a clairement un Manque Ici! Et je doit mentionner qu’on n’est pas revenu me voir pendant mon Repas pour me Demander si tout était a mon Goût, Aucun Suivi de la Part de mon Serveur et du Gérant!

Ambiance extra Personnel sympathique. Prix très abordable. Menu varié. Assiette généreuse. Je me suis régalée.

Really not a responsible restaurant! An old waiter took away my backpack to the corner, then my backpack was stolen by 2 thieves. After paying the bill, I asked that old waiter to help me to find my backpack, but he did nothing, still worked and didn't help me. Even didn't say sorry to me! I hate that waiter! He and this restaurant do not care about their customers!
PS: that 2 thieves are minority, maybe Mexican or Arabs, probably is Arabs. When travel in Montreal downtown, please be careful. Theft happens often!

Third time in recent months that I've eaten here but NEVER again. One of the pieces of toast that came with my bacon and eggs already had a bite taken out of it. DISGUSTING. Either someone in the kitchen thinks it's funny to do that or (and I suspect this is the answer) they are replating food that comes back. Health code violation. They made me another piece of toast which I wouldn't touch. I usually try to be positive about reviews but this place pissed me off this morning and there is no excuse for this.

Terrific breakfast spot! Gets busy after about 9: 30 so try to go early. Everything breakfast you might want: bacon and eggs to pancakes to granola to porridge. Good coffee and good service. Nice outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade.

We with a huge group of 90ish people and service was excellent. They were anticipating our group and our pre-set menus (with 4 entree options) were printed and ready for us to order from. They were quick to offer drinks to us as we started to trickle in. They were friendly and quick to take our orders as well. Staff was well equipped and trained to service us. Food came quickly and was delicious.

I don't usually post a bad review but I had the worst experience there.
My wife and I decided to try the place out. It took us about 10min before are server notice we were there. He came over and took are order. After that we waited for all most 15min just to get are coffee and then about 10min after that are food came. The order was wrong and the food was cold. The server never came back by to ask if everything was okay or if we wanted more coffee.

It cost us $35 for a cold breakfast that should have been hot. It did not make for the best start of the day.

Food is good but not the best. Juice recommended. Have a good amount of selections. Service is pretty good.

Service is amazing, always friendly and listen to their clients. Pastas are really good just very heavy on the cream. The muscles are good too. One of my go to places.
