Vieux-Port Steakhouse

We saw the good reviews and gave it a try for our first meal in Montreal on a weekend trip. We ordered the steak Frites ($36 I think) and a large cheese platter ($28). The cheese came out very cold and there was no explanation of the cheeses. My partner tried it and commented that it was just like the ones I buy at Trader Joe's back home - truth be told, TJs cheeses taste better. She didn't finish her steak and said something was off. I tried it and it just wasn't very good. The fries were also a disappointment. On a positive note, the service is good, people are kind, beer was good and the bread and butter was by far the best thing we had that day but of course they didn't refill the bread when we finished it early in the meal.

A wonderful experience and great restaurant. Waiter was amazing, his name is Monosh. Highly highly recommend

This is a must visit if you have the opportunity. I'm a true lover of French Onion Soup. This was delicious here

I don’t even know how this place has such great reviews. Unfortunately the food was horrible (very blend, portions are small and overpriced for what it is)

The waiter was rude. No salt, no pepper on the table. We saw another table with bread and was wondering how come our table had nothing.

Please do yourself a favour and go to the keg instead (right next to it) at least since it’s a chain you’ll know you’re getting consistent quality.

Had our holiday party here this year. Great ambiance, food was good and decent service. The chef cooked my filet mignon at a perfect medium-rare, could not have asked for better. Compliments to the chef. Portions were regarded as small but I left satiated. I definitely recommend, will surely go back for more.

Quand tu commandes des pâtes au homard, tu t'attends à ce qu'il y ait plus que 2 morceaux dedans, surtout à 35$! Même la sauce n'était pas super j'avais l'impression de manger du Kraft Diner.je suis vraiment déçu et n'y retournerai pas!

Personnel très accueillant organise et la viande trop bonne mais à côté légumes etc un peu degueu, le décor du resto est magnifique par contre.

My husband as I went to this steakhouse in Old Montreal in August. We were able to get a table right away without a reservation. Our waiter spoke English perfectly. The service was inpeccable and the food was even better. It was expensive, but for the food and atmosphere it was well worth the bill.

The food is disgusting here. There is not taste to the meals. This was a robbery of a meal. Top it all off you get stale coffee at the end to finish off your meal. No taste and pride in the food. Does not seem homemade.

On sent que la pandémie est passée par là. Les serveurs semblaient avoir du mal avec les bases. Je n'ai pas eu ce que j'avais commandé. Les produits étaient de bonne qualité cependant les accords gustatif n'étaient pas là.
Le steak demandé saignant est arrivé medium/cuit.

Nice place, but food and service is not good at all. Ordered a $47 New York Striploin, and it was very dry with hardly any flavor. Very similar to a cheap US Sizzler steak. Should have went to the Keg next door. Accidentally spilt a glass of wine of the floor, and they literally left it there for people to walk in. Would never go back, and would definitely not recommend.

Good service and good quality steaks. The atmosphere is very nice inside as well. The place is pretty fancy along with most spots on the old port.

We went there for a Sunday brunch and we were completely disappointed. We ordered ommlette and steak and none was freshly cooked.

Nous avons commendé des steaks, ils étaient très ordinaires, rien de spécial. Les légumes n’étaient pas assez cuits et les frites n’étaient pas très bonnes… les sauces étaient insipides. Même chose pour les entrées, elles n’étaient pas raffinées/goûteuses. Rien en dehors de l’ambiance ne justifie de tels prix. Nous avons eu une meilleure expérience au Keg.

Le monsieur pour prendre notre commande nous laissait même pas le temps de nous décider sur le repas. La nourriture c’est un 5/10. Mon steak n’était pas trop bon par contre mon copain a bien aimé son filet mignon. L’ambiance est pas au top non plus… Les tables sont tous collées et ont entendaient tous les conversations des autres.

Great filet mignon steak.surf and turf has great deal with steak and lobster. It tasted good. Steak could be more flavourful, portion size of lamb chops was not very good.

I am not sure why peaple have given 4 or 5 star to this place, but we did not have a good experience here. The food was not fresh, one of the worst brunches we had ever. I ordered the steak and egg and I believe the steak was prepared like a day before.

Great location. Super friendly staff. Large portions of very good but rather predictable food options. Nothing wrong with that but after a few days of outstanding cuisine elsewhere the VP came off a little ho hum

Une des pires expériences de restaurant jamais eu. Mon conjoint voulait aller à cette place depuis des années. J'ai pris la peine de réserver deux semaines à l'avance pour notre anniversaire de 3 ans. Il était tellement content, nous étions en train de nous préparer à 21h00 et sur le point de partir lorsqu'on reçoit un appel du restaurant. C'était une employée qui nous appelait pour nous dire que si nous n'étions pas là 15 minutes plus tôt (donc dans 15 minutes étant donné que notre réservation était à 21h30) qu'ils n'allaient pas être en mesure de nous servir, car la cuisine fermait plus tôt. Cela allait nous prendre justement 25 à 30 minutes y allée à pied, si nous voulions arrivé à temps nous étions obligé de payer un taxi! Nous avons demandés de parler à la gérante et celle ci nous parlée comme si tout était normal, que malheureusement elle ne s'attendait pas à avoir reçu plus de 500 personnes aujourd'hui (hier) et que nous pouvions arrivé à 21h30, mais si on avait un retard de 5 minutes et plus nous ne serions pas servie, car la cuisine allait fermée à 21h30. Nous n'avions pas envie de commander à la va vite ou d'avoir un retard et d'arrivé là bas pour se faire dire que non nous ne pouvons pas manger la bas. De plus mon conjoint et moi avons déjà travaillés dans des restaurants auparavant on sait très bien comment les derniers clients se font servir avant le last call. Il n'y avait presque plus rien d'ouvert le temps qu'on termine la conversation, ils ont fallit gâcher notre anniversaire! Le pire c'est que la gérante nous à dit d'une voix enjouée "je compte sur vous pour arrivé à l'heure". J'avais envie de lui répondre est ce que je peux compter sur vous pour avoir un service impeccable? Déjà ça part mal! Une chance que la cuisine du Firegrill fermait à 11h! Cela fait 3 ans qu'on y va à chacun de nos anniversaires et nous n'avons jamais eu de mauvaises expériences! Le pire dans toute cette histoire c'est que mon conjoint et moi avons voulu les "tester" pour voir si la cuisine allait vraiment fermée à 21h30. Et bah non! Suite à notre conversation avec la gérante nous avions décidés de faire une réservation en ligne pour 21h45 sous un autre numéro de cellulaire. Nous avions appelé avec l'autre numéro après pour vérifier si la gérante allait nous dire que la réservation à cette heure n'était pas disponible que leur cuisine fermait à 21h30.pas de réponses après 3 appels manqués nous avons laissé tomber. Vers 21h55 le restaurant nous appel sur le faux numéro pour nous demander si nous allions bientôt arrivé car si nous n'étions pas là d'ici 5 minutes la cuisine fermait à 22h! Wow! Tout un choc pour nous. Donc nous devions arrivé vers 21h15 car supposément la cuisine fermait à 21h30, mais lorsqu'on fait une deuxième réservation en se faisant passer pour d'autres clients la cuisine ferme à 22h? Super bas de leur part, mon conjoint était tellement déçu en entendant cela. Quel gros manque de respect et de professionnalisme de leur part!

J’ai essayé le surlonge 8oz qui vient avec frites et légumes. La cuisson de mon steak était bonne et précise, mais la pièce de viande était quand même tirailleuse. Le steak venait avec une sauce aux poivres.

Great steak, atmosphere, and service. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this restaurant choice.

Nice place but food isn’t nothing special, steakhouse that doesn’t know the difference between medium well and well done.

I found it too pricey for what I actually ate but I guess it's the location and decor/ ambiance.
I felt the lady hosting at the front door was useless I might has well have gone up the stairs to find my group of friends on my own lol

We went for a brunch and there was a good variety.
But again I'm serving myself lol and it cost $32.00 before taxes and tip.but I'm fixing my own plate and bringing it to my table lol why am I paying so much? !

The service was very poor. The waiter’s are really slow, they take forever to attend to a request. They reply in a condescending manner, and give unrealistic waiting timeframes, while the restaurant wasn’t even busy. They are not receptive, no particular warmth to make us feel welcomed.
We the family went there for the celebration of the signing ceremony of a couple, and the experience literally ruined our day.
The food was pretty basic, not worth the price considering the standing that it portrays. They even forgot an order completely and it took another 30mins to have it all done.

Excellent steaks, cozy ambiance and great service. Our witty waiter could give any stand up comedian or talk show host a run for the money. Had a great time!

Amazing atmosphere and the service is super. The steaks are well done:) as well as the salads, drinks and desserts. Very recommended and it is big enough that you will not have to wait in a line in the busy st Paul street. Go there and enjoy it - you will not regret it

Très bon choix de resto pour le repas du midi. Très beau bâtiment de pierre et vieilles poutres de bois. Accueil sympathique et service hyper courtois. La formule du midi est rapide et bon rapport qualité prix.

Let me say that the atmosphere is great and truly is an example of how a restaurant should look in old Montreal.

However, my experience with my wife celebrating her bday was very disappointing.

I never felt so much that the weiter wanting to raise the bill for a larger tip. Once he realized that we were not big spenders the service was rushed to get us out. E had not even for halfway through the entrée when the main steaks came. So e had to decide which dish goes cold. A soon has he took our main dish, the bill came right after. Basically the feeling we got was je wanted us out. This is acceptable at a small low end restaurent but in my opinion not at such a establishment.

And to top it off, my reservations were for my wife's bday and I had to go remind the host. This is after getting the receipt.

Not putting the whole restaurant down but it experience would not recommend it and will not go back.

Perfection. This steak house was recommended by our hotel. Ambiance and waiter were warm and charming. Maitre D went out of his way to make our kids feel welcome. I had the baseball steak and grilled lobster. My husband had ribeye and jumbo prawns. Both were cooked to perfection and the sides (which were included) were absolutely delicious. I enjoyed every bite of my meal and we felt that we got very good value for our money. We didn't have room for dessert as the portions were generous. Would recommend and definitely will go back!

I am very disappointed! They just burned my steak which I was waiting for 2,5 hours on the Christmas Eve and brought it to me! The steak was not edible! The manager came up, excused and didn't charge for that steak. But it's too late! Finally, I didn't get dinner, and my mood was ruined. It's a cozy place, the waiters are nice, and if you don't want to be disappointed with a steak don't order it.

Steakhouse au Vieux-Port de Montréal sur 2 étages avec 5-6 choix de steaks différents, un menu table d'hôte intéressant et une belle carte des vins. L'onglet saignant était savoureux! La salade servie en entrée avec vinaigrette maison balsamique manquait toutefois d'amour. Bon service. Je recommande.

We stumbled in this place while on the look out for lunch. Since it is Sunday they were serving this amazingly delicious brunch buffet! What a great service, top quality brunch and ambiant cozy yet elegant atmosphere. Will highly recommend.

Très bon restaurant en plein vieux Montréal. Salle très jolie, ambiance chaleureuse avec la cheminée. Serveur réactif et agréable. Les plats sont bons et servi en bonne quantité.

Went for a christmas party and was a bit disappointed with my steak. Meat was not tender at all, hard to chew but the accompanying mashed potato and vegetables were tasty. Pepper sauce was also a nice touch

La viande du burger ressemble à un bloc de viande congelé et n'a aucun goût, les frites ne sont pas maison et pas bonnes. La salade d'entrée n'est pas meilleure, le café est tout aussi médiocre. 2 étoiles car les pâtes au homard était plutôt gouteuses. A éviter cependant car vous trouverez de biens meilleures adresses aux alentours.

We had our wedding at the steakhouse. It was amazing. The food was perfect (seriously perfect) we got so many compliments on the dinner buffet- everything was cooked and seasoned well. Additionally the location and room are a great atmosphere for a wedding (we used the Mont-Royal room) The prices were very reasonable for what you get especially considering location. Most importantly - from the beginning of our venue search to our clean up of decorations the day after the wedding they made this whole process easy. We were able to come in two days ahead of the wedding to do some of our own personal touches, which helped us feel so relaxed. David helped us with everything the day of the wedding he even pressed play on the songs when we walked down the aisle! How much more helpful can you get than that? !? Mylène was also great for all our preparations leading up to the wedding. We can’t thank them or their staff enough for making our day so incredible! Thank you!
