Pros:

Property is located at a beautiful place overlooking the waterfall and also the river, surrounded by the forest. You will find peace there. If you love hiking and exploring, it is an incredible area to stay at.

The Eco-building was clean and modern.

The room was pretty, zen, clean and spacious. Great touch with free water bottles, Nespresso machine, coffee and tea. It was also nice to find spa/bath robes, slippers, and even umbrella in the closet. The room had a fridge.

The Heron restaurant (both for breakfast and supper) was great. Located in the main building. You can sit inside out outside on their long balcony overlooking beautiful waterfall. Although prices were high, and portions small, the quality of the dishes were amazing. Wow affect. One of the best meals I’ve ever tried. Bravo to chef. The young waiter that served us breakfast on Saturday morning (his name was probably Caleb) made our experience fantastic. Pleasant, cheerful and with excellent manners.

Cons:

Although the room was clean and modern, it needs some attention from management and maintenance.

The bathroom door was not sliding smoothly at all, making it really hard to slide it. The bathroom privacy with such a door is not great. You can hear and even smell everything. There seemed to be no ventilation in the bathroom. I don’t recommend it for your first date. It also needs an installation of 1 handle between two sinks to place a hand towel for the best comfort. The shelve for the towels should be places closer to the shower. In the shower there was no place to put a soap bar. So when you wash yourself, you have to keep it in your hands or place it on a floor which is not a great idea. Plus if you want to place your wash sponge or shampoo, you have nowhere to place it.

The “gas fireplace” in the wall is confusing when utilizing it. It is on and then off spontaneously. The thermostat was confusing to use.

The bed was comfortable for me, but not for my other person. One side of the bed was much dented and the middle had a big bump. The linen was yellowish with some spots. Housekeeping, check the cleanness before you use those linens, covers, and even the blanket.

The room with a king bed didn’t have a balcony. Only one window was opening. I’d rather have a ground floor with a patio.

The worst part is that we could smell smoking from the neighbours below. They smoked even at 6am, and that woken us up. It was very unpleasant. I’d recommend management to check the rooms ventilation. Even in old buildings when someone smokes below a unit, it is rarely goes to other units.

The spa and swimming pool appeared lovely. Yet, the amount of chloride in the jacuzzi were high in my opinion. I got a slight skin irritation. But the worst is that the colour of the stairs leading to jacuzzi were blue and that blue was imprinted on my feet somehow. This should never happen. Check the paint quality.

Other recommendation is to install at least one garbage can at the “round” area that is distal to the waterfalls.

Receptionist should be more pleasant and with less attitude. One girl greeted me with “what’s up!? ” although I am older than her, and in my opinion, it is not an elegant way to greet guests. Secondly, upon arrival, the receptionist should brief about the usage of the pathway to the property leading to the water when walking outside. We used personnel entrance to descent down as the proper path was under construction. Excellent customer service is one of the main keys for the most pleasant and comfortable experience. I’d recommend to teach the receptionists some etiquette and manners.

We visited this place during the COVID-19 pandemic. We liked the idea of the meal under the stars in the middle of winter. Actually, that was the highlight of the trip. The meal and service were excellent. The hotel in itself is a little outdated and staff seemed to be a little confused and overwhelmed as restrictions and guidelines were unclear at the time. Good experience nonetheless!

My boyfriend and I had a 3 night stay at the hotel. We had an amazing experience starting with the front desk staff. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, professional and helpful. We had a couple of amazing meals at the Heron and Muse restaurant and we'd love to specially mention a couple of very lovely staff members who made our stay extra memorable. Sébastien and Vivianne, they took the time to recommend us some of their best dishes based on our palete but THE HIGHLIGHT of our weekend was meeting the lovely Michael. His professionalism, friendly attitude and kindness made us feel like we've been there many times even though it was our first time.

Le service es exactement et de première qualité, les prix son du très bon rapport qualité-prix, le paysage es très apaisant et très agréable. Je le recommande a tous sa faut le détour.

I have traveled around 27 countries and this was the poorest quality and lowest standards “hotel” I have seen so far. This hotel doesn’t deserve a 4 star, more like a hostel…

Perfect weekend getaway at the Mill. We stayed in the 1840 Chalet -spacious and cozy. This hotel is definitely a Wakefield gem. Annick went above and beyond to welcome us, thank you & we cannot wait to return!
