Simple but excellent. I got the Wilensky Special with nothing else. For $4.50, it was excellent. The bread was warm and crusty but soft, and the smoked meat was delicious.
This is MUST to visit, great food and amazing service. Just don't forget to bring your debit card or cash. Sandwiches and milk shakes are top notch, very affordable as well.
Wow.so good worth the hype fast and friendly service.been dying to come here for years since Anthony Bourdains show.made it a stop while visiting from Vancouver.
6+ Stars! This is the best place in the world! I could eat the special with swiss for the rest of my life and die happy! I love their no nonsense attitude, while still giving amazing service!
A Montreal institution since 1932. Nothing fancy. This place was never broken so there was never any need to fix it. You come to this place for the Special. You come here because the soda is still made by manually pouring the syrup into a glass with a ladle and then pouring the clear soda into the glass. Give a quick twirl with a spoon and voila, a glass of coke or root beer or cherry coke. It’s not beluga caviar or Kobe steak, no, it’s much better, it’s a part of Montreal history served with a attention and a smile. Cheers!
Lovely old school vibe, extremely kind and friendly folks behind the counter (friendliness level is high comparing to other food & beverage spots in Montreal).
I think less than 10 seats at the bar, expect a wait if you want to dine in (or there are plenty of spots outdoor/by the park too). The sandwich is ready, comes warm within in 10 secons of me ordering, amazing!
The sandwich itself is tasty, small and light but to be honest not mindblowing. Ill probably be back for quick snack and for the service & nostalgia of it. Sandwich cost CA$4.50, side of pickle 80cents and a glass of cola $1 something. Whole meal cost less than $10. And you can easily eat 2 sandwich if hungry.
Another important note- they accept cash or Canadian debit card only (they do not accept US or international debit/credit cards). Please come prepared with some cash.
This place was very nice. Seems like a blast from the past with the old diner look and the way the menus on the wall are. I can't remember her name but the main lady was extremely friendly. Oh yeah, and the Wilensky Special was DELICIOUS. DEFINITELY check this place out when you visit Montreal.
Place OK repas classique / Bologne OK mais over rate et ça pourrait être moins cher! Vue l’état des lieux … mythiques oui, been there done that and i ain't never going back. =)
This place is a Montreal institution, still family owned today after generations, and making the same sandwich year after year.
I have been wanting to come to this place for a while but it was hard because they are only open during lunch.
I had their Wilensky’s special with Swiss, verdict: Loved it! The amount of salami with their bread and the mustard is a perfect combination. I would not recommend it to everybody, if you are not a fan of salami or mustard, then don’t come to this place, the sandwich just isn’t for you.
I had their cherry cola also, which was underwhelming and kinda disappointing to be honest, as I tried really hard to like it. It tasted like a really sweet coke without much gas, so basically a flat very chemical tasting coke…
I will for sure be back for another one of their sandwiches in the near future, but this time without the cola
