It is beyond me that they don't stick to the schedule they publish on the website. I only come here for swiming, and suddenly once I arrive I realize they have cancelled the lap swim session and instead they have a certification exam. Without even notifying members. It's the second time it has happened and I am not coming back. Horrible experience.
I have been a member off and on for about ten years, and this gym has been doing nothing but a downward spiral, perhaps a nose dive would be a better description.
My other gym has been closed for a week or so, I figured I would get a week membership here at the local NDG Y.
Things have changed, the service from the front desk staff is non existent, also the gym has lost some really good essential equipment such as the incline bench machine, the Smith machine and the calve raise machine.
I find the pricing extremely age discriminatory also, why must I pay more if I'm older?
This gym is a rip off at 65$ a month:
for a broken swimming pool, old broken gym equipment, stinky locker rooms and terrible service at the front desk.
"a community center" charging outrageous prices.
I remeber why I went down the street and got a membership at another gym for 60% less of the price.
I wrote a paragraph but ill shorten it, the teenzone made me cry multiple times, it's nice but I've cried, a mean staff, false strikes, just being rude something so uhh yeah 3 stars also I can't bake or do anything there anymore because of reasons so if I ever have the time I'll rewrite the sentence if they don't get me in trouble for this
It’s a very nice space with lovely staff and the swim classes for kids are good too. I enrolled my kids for swimming lessons online and picked the wrong level, a quick chat with the aquatics staff and we had a swim test and they were put into a more advanced class that fits their needs.
I registered my kid in NDG YMCA for 2023 summer day camp 3 month before start. Then I lost my job and called contact center to cancel my registration but they offer to apply for FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE! I sent my documents. I called them several times to follow. Day camp started and After 5 weeks that I paid, they said we have not received your documents! I sent them again and They said you can’t apply for that! I really surprised because I was unemployed for 2 months and my wife was a student! In my opinion, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE is just a trick to absorbe the clients and then waste the time while you have to pay during the processing time!
I love the pool and gym, but I almost went blind from the chlorine in the pool that was mainly my fault, though because I kept opening my eyes under the water because I had no goggles
Shocked at the children's swimming lessons. Yesterday, a toddler was forced to stay in the water with no help from a teacher. She was screaming and nearly went under water. The instructor explained that the little girl was being manipulative by screaming. Did not seem like a lesson in what to do if you nearly drown, but instead a lesson as to how to become traumatized by water.
After a long absence, my wife and I rejoined the Y in November 2022. The facilities seem to have been renovated and the staff are friendly and professional. We are very much enjoying the experience.
Incredibly expensive membership fees. The price does not match the experience at all. There's a reason they don't advertise their prices on their website.
