Canalta Hotel Moosomin

Our stay here was overall good. No real complaints. Pretty satisfied customers other then our tub in room had drainage issues.

Great place! We had great service and they were great room. My wife didn’t care for the beds but I thought they were good. Pool was great aswell!

The roads were pretty bad and so choosing to stay here was a welcome relief from the blowing snow and poor road conditions. The breakfast was really good too. Lots of choices.

Just a short three night stay as we broke our prairie journey to visit relatives. This place had everything we needed, including a great location and very spacious rooms. A kettle for the hot tea drinkers was all that we lacked.

The room we had was a nice size, tidy and smelled good. We loved the waterslide and pool. Breakfast was the usual Canalta options with a few add-ons. We hope we need to stay in Moosomin again just to come back to the hotel.

When you are on the road traveling there is nothing better than getting a room that exceeds all your expectations. We were very tired but when we walked into this hotel and experienced a beautiful large room and the cleanliness overall we were so blessed. There was nothing that wasn't beyond exceptional. The hot breakfast was also above and beyond and the food was great but I noticed how clean the tables were kept and the eating area was maintained perfectly. We will definitely make this our 'go to' hotel! Thank you!

I've always enjoyed the Canalta Moosemin and will continue to stay here. Parking and access is convenient. The hot breakfast in the morning is quite good. (Eggs are somewhat bland and it would be nice to have another meat or hot item besides the sausages). Pool area is also good. Overall cleanliness of the hotel is also very good. I was, however, disappointed with one issue on this particular stay. My shower head flew off in the morning and it was clearly damaged or stripped. I couldn't screw it back on. Therefore, I couldn't have a hot shower in the morning. I mentioned this to the clerk and asked to see if there was something they could do for me on my next stay. She said yes she would talk to her manager. However, I have yet to hear back from anyone at the hotel. It would be great to receive something in return for this inconvenience. For $189 I would like to have a hot shower! (Yes, the price is a little high as well!) I hope they will get in touch!

Room was decent and clean which is most important for me. Breakfast items under the dome were cold so staff could do better in this area. Also, when I called in to ask about a price, I was quoted $176 + tax! I think this is ridiculous for slow season (late Jan). So I proceeded to notify her it was actually a few bucks cheaper online including tax. Then she dropped the rate to $149 + tax. Still too high for an average hotel with a cold breakfast

Room was clean, felt worn with exterior door that wouldn't open/close easily making it less of a convenience in -30C weather and lots to carry over a 3 night stay. Staff were great helping with printing, complimentary toiletries were less than desired with shower refilled containers showing products separating in levels. There was a constant winding up of a fan every few minutes that was annoying through the night being only a room away from the maintenance & laundry. Free breakfast was good! Bed was uncomfortable and bedding doesn't meet that of a Best Western Plus!

Very friendly staff and the breakfast was better than the typical free breakfast at most restaurants. Will be back.

My experience this last weekend at the Canalta Hotel adequate. Unfortunately, this stay was one of my lesser experienced hotel experiences. I booked a kitchenette so that I can prepare my food in the room so that I didn't have to resort to fast food restaurants in the area during my stay. When I went to use my dishes from the cupboard, each one of them was dirty and I had to clean the dishes before being able to use them (not a way a guest wants to start their getaway). My cable box was unplugged, and I had to hunt for all of the cables to be able to get tv for the weekend. The bathtub was left dirty unfortunately and I needed to get it cleaned before being able to use it. One of the main reasons I chose this hotel over others was for the swimming pool and hot tub, but it was to my surprise that the heater wasn't turned on to heat the hot tub and when I entered it was cold. I explained to the front desk that the hot tub wasn't hot, and they told me that the hotel is 13 years old and that you never know what to expect with it.lol.

The Canalta wasn't all bad. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful, and their continental breakfast is really good and worth eating there in the mornings. It can get a little messy at times as they didn't keep up with cleaning after someone dropped coffee or juice or pancake mix on the floor. The gym was really good and clean with all the weights you need to do a quick session of resistance training.

Most of the staff was very rude, some were great, but after spending more than 13 days at this hotel in Moosomin, I was shocked by some of the staff behavior. The "cook" that runs breakfast is usually on her phone sitting behind while things have run out like bagels or cooked food. And when asked she acts like its a big inconvenience. And the front desk staff literally sits there speaking Vietnamese to each other laughing like they are visiting while you are standing there asking to buy something from the extremely overpriced store (literally $5 for a small pack of M&M's and small water? That will be $3)

We stayed for 2 nights, very pleasant and welcoming, room was very clean, jacuzzi and fireplace was a wonderful touch. Everything worked well. I recommend staying at this hotel.

The night staff (front desk) went above and beyond what is required of her. As it was the end of her shift, she was so kind to drive us to a location where we needed to plug in our electric vehicle and give us a ride back to the hotel. She was so kind and fantastic!

The staff was amazing, the lady at the front desk was exceptional, the hotel was cery clean, the breakfast was delicious.
No doubt that I will be back again and again.

Nice new building, comfortable beds and clean room. Complimentary breakfast was excellent! With kitchen staff present at all time topping everything up from hot scrambled eggs, bacon and hashbrowns, to bread, bagels, muffins, cereals and donuts!
On a negative note, the bathroom towels in our room were disgraceful! Undersized - thin and fraying/torn edges - most bizarre.

Good hotel, friendly staff, loved the water slides, rooms could be updated and the air conditioners in the rooms need a major upgrade.

We as a family group who travelled to Moosomin all stayed at the Canalta. We were all happy with the service at your location from time of reservation to check out. I appologize for not writing down names, as memory is not good for that, lol. However all your staff and I mean all, from desk to cleaning to breakfast, pool and more were are very very friendly and professional, but I really want to emphasize the friendly!
We are planning another reunion in 2 years and will be making it a point to be using Canalta again.

I was asked about the Canalta rewards, and was going to when I checked out but I forgot family rushing and that was all on me!

My stay was awesome. We had exterior door access. There was a pool with slide. Superb complimentary breakfast. Clean rooms.

Rooms were clean and good size. Toilet seat was broken which should have been caught if they lifted it while cleaning the bathroom. It's not a place I would tell anyone not to stay there just telling it like I saw it.

I enjoy my stays at the Canalta in Moosomin. Always friendly staff. Very comfortable rooms. The hotel is clean. Haven't had a bad experience yet.

Not only was our room too hot, no matter how low we turned down the heat we overheard a other family at breakfast complaining about the same problem. Also the pool was figidly cold which was hugely disappointing as we had hoped to break up our road trip but burning off steam in the water park.

I stayed here for 3 weeks, and the rooms are getting worn down. The last room I stayed in had black mold on the bathroom wall, the soap dispenser was falling off the shower wall, and the toilet seat clearly wasn't cleaned. The last 2 nights I stayed, the cleaning staff had stuck a card in my door lock to notify staff that the room is to not be cleaned.

I only stopped here because the road conditions were very bad. Freezing rain, snow.etc. I was 'greeted' by a clerk who really didn't seem to care that I was in front of the desk. I checked in, went for a bite to eat, came back and didn't turn on enough lights to realize how dirty this place was.at the price they charge you per night, I expected a certain level of cleanliness. I should have looked earlier. Not sure whether they just don't have staff, or the staff don't care.maybe they're not paid enough (seldom are). Very dirty room. Hadn't seen a vacuum in some time, chairs stained, and one chair that wasn't stained up, had crumbs all over it. The only clean thing in this room was linen, and because at this point I was so tired.after a careful inspection of the bed, I went to sleep. I mentioned this to the hotel manager in the morning, she seemed apologetic and offered to discount my room. I agreed, and have yet to see a discount off my credit card.
Not sure what the other hotel in town is like, but at very least.the price is probably better.

The hotel is either old or everything in it is old. There were no toiletries other than gross pump shampoo/conditioner, the desks and night tables were all scuffed up and scratched, chairs were all peeling and just looked old and out dated. The decor in the bedrooms were dated and the carpets were beyond dirty and needed to be replaced.
Only if real good thing was the water slide for kids to burn some energy before bed.

I usually stay here on my annual trips between Ontario and Alberta and have always had a restful night. They are dog-friendly, for a fee, but the only grassy place to walk a dog is across the street behind the A&W. Every time I've stayed there in the past few years, the room rate has gone up to the point where now, with taxes and dog fee added, I don't believe I can afford to stay there again. The value just isn't there any more. Pillows used to be labeled 'soft' and 'firm' (there was really no difference) but this time they weren't so I guess they gave up. However the pillows are very thick so anyone who isn't comfortable with that should bring their own pillow. Check in early, if possible, because it takes awhile to get the room temperature adjusted.

We were in Moosomin for a funeral and many of our family had rooms at the hotel. The hotel was modern, clean, safe and quiet. Service was excellent. Staff were accommodating, especially demonstrated by giving our large group access to a meeting room. The pool area was a fun time for all of the kids. The hotel had restaurants and fast food within walking distance. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel was clean, the rooms were lovely, breakfast was tasty and the hotel staff were very accomodating.

The Staff are friendly, delivered an excellent customer service, and very helpful. The room were very clean, love the ambiance, and very relaxing. My family and I enjoyed our stay here. We found our happy place in the pool as well, love the warm water, hot tub, and the warm atmosphere. Excellent!

We enjoyed our stay and as a added bonus were able to use up some points which made it affordable for our 3 night stay.

Worst hotel experience EVER! Left the room for the day to do business and came back to a dirty room, bins not empty, bed partially spread, no restock of anything and oh yeah, liquid soap in a plastic cup for hand soap. It's as if who was assigned to clean the room had a nap and got up and left it as is. I would post pictures of the bed but I can't through this medium. Very disturbing!

Found the check in efficient and friendly. Received the room I requested which was top floor away from the noise of the highway and elevator.

Exactly what we’ve grown to expect from CanAlta. Large clean rooms and a great breakfast area. Breakfast starting at 5am is just what we needed to beat the heat while camping.

Room was filthy. Bottom of bathtub was dirty. Used soap left in tub. Bathroom wall was visible with dirt as well. Dust everywhere. Tv, lamp on nightstand, kitchen chairs where absolutely disgusting with food drippings and dust on bottom foot rests. I’m not talking a little dust. You could clearly see it. Windows had dead flies along the windows sills. I went to the front desk and she was very apologetic and called the manager. I told her of everything that needed cleaning. I said if my family just went to the pool could she get it cleaned again because we wanted the bigger room. She said yes and so off we went to the pool. Omg the pool was so cold we couldn’t swim. We played in the hot tub. The pool area had dead beatles around the drains. I counted at least ten. Going back to the room the bathtub was visibly cleaned but old soap was left on top of the shampoo dispensers. The chairs had been wiped but they were still dirty with food on the backs of them so they just dusted the bottoms. Nothing was dusted and window was not cleaned either. All of this was very visible. All you had to do was look. I was not looking for dirt it was plain to see. I did not go and complain again. We were only staying the one night and I took it upon myself to sanitize all the door handles and remote and high touched ares with wipes I had because it was obvious if the big stuff wasn’t clean then the little stuff wouldn’t of been done. And with COVID I knew it wasn’t sanitized properly. In the morning I explained everything that was left dirty again. The woman was so nice and kept saying sorry. She was going to tell her manager she said. I payed full price and was not cheap for sure. Almost two hundred for the room. I usually stay in the more expensive hotels because I find them them to be be better but not this one. I would definitely not stay here again and do not recommend this hotel in Moosomin.

Massive spider walked in on me taking my after work number 2. Spider fronted on me, I put him in a cup as a pet and kept him in the bathroom till my departure. Let him go out in the field, knew about this field from the great view I had from the 3rd floor.

Air conditioner in room 116 didn’t work properly so they moved me and the new room was good. I would like to comment on the free breakfast. Bacon was good sausage was ok, however the hash browns and eggs were uneatable, absolutely terrible. I stay at a huge amount of Canalta motels and this breakfast was way below par compared to the rest. Please eat some yourself and you will understand. I am sure the staff does the best with what they are supplied with. Unreal.

Loved that it was pet friendly with the room entry from inside hotel and directly to the outdoors on another door on the ground level rooms

Best hotel we stayed at so far in our trip. Very professional and good looking staff. A decent gym. And an awesome water slide! Breakfast is good as well but i'd have to say the best part are the beds. My back is often picky with beds but these ones we're king.

I was shocked at the wear and tear. I stayed there last year and the place seemed beat up rather then the polish it had just a year ago. The first room wasn't clean which was a shock detail wasn't there. Literal dried mud foot prints, finger prints on door Kleenex on the floor. On the upside the next room was clean and very quiet. Like I said just a bit beat up, stains on the bench seat damage on the table top. I wish guests would be more careful those things are done by thoughtless guests.

The staff was amazing and went above and beyond with everything. The rooms were clean, the pool was awesome and my family had a great visit!

Room was amazing, they gave us a room close to the elevator as ground floor was booked. This worked well the dogs, if passing through I'd be a repeat customer.

So, I have come to a point that went on traveling I look for a Canalta Hotel Just because I know they're going to be high quality places to stay. The people are always incredibly kind and helpful wherever I go when I stay at this hotel chain I think people have always been kind everywhere I go, but frankly these folks go out of their way. I highly recommend this hotel

I was disappointed that after a long day of work and travelling I entered the room assigned to me to find it dirty and not yet cleaned. When I returned to the desk they gave me new keys and expressed their apologies. I was nervous to enter the new room and very pleased and surprised to find I'd been upgraded for my stay. Your front desk staff truly saved my day and I appreciated that they took my negative experience so seriously and turned it into a positive one.

Great beds, excellent enviroment. Breakfast is great, omelets to order every tuesdays and Thursdays. Nice gym, pool and hottub. Big rooms and big washrooms.

The room was comfortable, quiet and clean. We had very good sleeps. The pool is well designed for the waterslide experience with safety in mind, as we had planned this for our children's use and enjoyment. The breakfast was also very good, for travelling - substantial with enough variety, including juice, and fruit as well as lots of cereals, custom omelets, carefully wrapped bread, bagels, yogurt, etc. If they ran out, someone went to get more.

Best option for what is in the area. Staff is incredibly friendly, accommodation, and takes the time to get to know you.

Rooms are very standard, but do the job - feels more like a lived in home than hotel.

Wednesday night is ‘guest appreciation’ night - so free snacks / dinner in the lobby for all. There is also a BBQ outside that is free to be used by guests (great option when you’ve had enough of Red Barn down the road).

Rooms were as clean as a whistle. Beds super comfy with the whitest sheets ever. Continental breakfast has something for everyone.

Everything really good except the front desk girl with the glasses was very rude when I asked for early check in. We had to wait 2 hours to get room even though it was obvious a room could of been given to us. First night felt a bug on me while sleeping and after killing it I saw it was a bed bug. After a bigger inspection the next morning I saw that a previous guest had squished a bed bug against the wall. It was still there. I took pictures of both. I never did complain. I didnt tell my roommate as to not ruin his stay.

Overall, nice hotel and good guest service. Suggestions are small but could make a large improvement - no phone call once I was settled in my room to see if all was well (as I’ve experienced at other CanAlta locations), and no fruit available at breakfast. Also hotel was full of running and yelling children and being on my own and there for business I would have appreciate not being in a room right next to that party.

There was popcorn everywhere in the elevator in the hall and on the floor in my room. I also doubt they changed the sheets because of the amount of hair in the bed. The Best Western next door is newer and nicer.

I was passing through Moosomin for business. The hotel and amenities were all fine, but there was a mix up done by the staff that never got resolved properly. The administrative staff at my office reserved a room and provided a credit card number so that they can charge my office directly. When I got to the hotel, they asked for a credit card to hold for damages, which is normal. Right after that I also asked "didn't my office provide you a credit card number to charge for the room? " At that point, they had already replaced the office card number for my card number, but they said that they would recheck the original booking in the system and call my office to retrieve the card number they overwrote. I even told them the name of the person who makes all our hotel bookings. The next morning when I proceeded to check out, a different front desk clerk couldn't find any note of this and said the room wasn't paid for yet. He also thought I would be checking out the next day. Quite odd since the day before they said they would contact my office to sort it all out and knew I was checking out after only one night. I explained the situation to him and mentioned that I could just charge my card and get it reimbursed, but it is definitely preferable to charge the company card we originally provided to the hotel. He couldn't find the company card so I just paid for the hotel, and went to refill my water bottle before hitting the road. The clerk stops me on my way out and mentions that he found the company card on file and will reimburse my card. Great! I thought it was all sorted out. However, back at the office, I find that they charged my card, refunded, and then charged it again! No charge on the company card at all.
I would've given the hotel a better rating if not for the fact that they told me they will resolve the issue twice, yet fall through both times!

We have been travelling across the country for two weeks and this is the best hotel we have stayed in to date. Rooms are spacious and well layed out. It is pet friendly as well which was great for my family. We got a ground level suite with outside door access, which is fantastic for taking my dog out to relieve herself and for unloading luggage from my vehicle. The hotel itself was very clean and modern, and the waterslide pool and hot tub are clean and nice. Staff were very courteous and polite. If Amber happens to be working when you get there she is awesome and super nice and deserves a shout out from me (military guy passing through from Newfoundland)! Would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone.

They at check out charged me an extra $40 a night more then my coworkers a total of $178 a night. Because I payed the first week with points they wont lower the last three weeks of my stay the price my coworkers are all getting. I never agreed to the $178 a night what ever the dollar amout my points equals out to is not an excuse to rip someone off.

We stay at the Canalta in Moosimin about 4 times per year. We have never had an unpleasant experience. The staff are friendly and helpful. My grandchildren love shopping at the "treat" area. We are enjoy the delicious breakfast buffett. And how can you not enjoy the freshly popped popcorn with a bedtime movie? ! If there is no popcorn, the person at the reception desk gladly makes you a fresh batch.they will even turn on the waterslides for you. We look forward to our stays. Thanks so much!

My overnight stay was a strong first impression. I liked the addition of boiled eggs at the free breakfast, which started at 5: 30AM. The standard queen room was clean, high ceilings, nice layout, and with the lights out - dark! Meaning no annoying thermostat lights or other random lights if u unplug the alarm clock. The only drawback is the trains that came through about 6 times before 6AM. Still, it wasn't severe enough that I wouldn't stay again. All in all - great place!

Very clean and spacious room. Tv and fireplace in the sitting area doesn't work, though. Will stay again when we come back.

This hotel is great except for one major issue. I'm not usually one to write a review or even complain, but I've had better wifi in work camps with way more people over the past 6yrs than here. I need wifi to video chat with my family in Central America and it's impossible after 6pm. This was a huge disappointment and I don't recommend this hotel if you require wifi for anything. Everything else is top notch though.

We stopped in last week and were really pleased - friendly, competent service, clean room and good restaurant next door!
