If you’ve never stayed at a Canalta before, you’re missing out. For smaller centres they offer a solid hotel with great amenities. The Weyburn Canalta is no different.
Initially I was disappointed as the hotel felt older and a little less modern than I’ve experienced at other Canaltas. However, this truly was aesthetic only. The hotel was was clean, comfortable, and we had a great stay.
I was worried initially as when I first sat on the bed the mattress felt older. It’s a regular coil mattress no pillow top or memory foam, but myself and my two coworkers both talked about how great we slept in the morning. The bedding was soft and clean, and the pillows offer you a choice of firm or soft. The shower was great with excellent water pressure.
The hotel gym is small but allowed me to get a quick workout in and the hot tub and steam room were great. Sometimes hotel hot tubs aren’t balanced well or have scum - none of those issues here.
Breakfast is always a highlight. They offer all the typical continental favourites (toast, yogurt, cereal, fruit) as well as make-it-yourself waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, and hash browns. The coffee is great, too!
The hotel is on the outside of town, but there is a local restaurant (Leicesters) and a Tim Hortons in the same area. A Canadian Tire and Walmart are super close by. It is close to the train tracks, and we did hear trains in the evening and morning. I’d imagine if one came through in the middle of the night it could wake you up. I could hear some noise in the hallways in the morning, too. Nothing crazy for a hotel, though.

Place had nothing. No pens in rooms. Toilet paper was in wrappers and there was garbage all over my floor when I walked in.

Excellent hotel with great management and staff. It operates like a well-oiled machine, which makes for great stays no matter what the occasion is. Offers a delicious cooked breakfast in the mornings that stays open much longer than most hotels that has a lot of different options. The couches in the lobby are extremely comfortable as well! The manager of this hotel is such a pleasure to deal with and always goes above and beyond for her guests.

Super clean room and facility, comfy bed, enough comfortable pillows, air conditioning that worked, friendly, helpful staff, great breakfast.

Great showers and the most comfortable bed and bed linens. Spacious rooms. Mine even had a hot tub with epsom salts. It took the sweat of the day away as I sat in there with a glass of wine watching a comedy show on the huge TV. I felt like I was at the Ritz.

Heating could not keep up with the cold and bed was not comfortable. UPDATE management did respond to my concerns so I'll give them another shot next time I'm in town

We will not be coming back. Staff wasn’t really helpful, breakfast was very poor. Didn’t feel welcome.

Pleasantly surprised to see how large my king room was. I wish I'd had another night to spend there! Great staff, great continental breakfast; I would definitely stay there again!

the heat was off in our room when we arrived, it was Soooo COLD! Took hours for our room to reach a tolerable temperature. I appreciate conserving energy, but maybe not to the extreme of turning the heat off in January. Beds are not very comfortable and the bedding is oddly loud.the two chairs for sitting are a nice touch.will stay again

Great location a restaurant within walking distance to within 200 metres South East of the South parking lot! Friendly staff and gave us great rates! Not to mention great parking for your trucks and trailers. Alot of our students stay at this hotel and I've always heard good things about it!

I enjoyed my one night stay here. It was close to the highway, easy to find and met the needs I had. The only issue that I had with the rooms was the lights didn't want to turn on at first (after a few seconds they flickered to life).
