Candle Lake Golf Resort

I'm from B. C, and was visiting a friend at Candle Lake, Sask. The golf course is really nice, the food was absolutely fabulous! It was so good the food, that I went back next day to the upstairs restaurant again. I had a seafood linguini type meal, the next day a burger with brie and apple (sounds weird, but was super good). Even the Ceasar side salad was scrumptious! Good coffee too!

Bring earplugs If you are staying at the hotel. The "hotel" is Infact 8 rooms below the clubhouse. The clubhouse seems to be rented most of the summer for loud events, often going on well past midnight. The rooms are poorly insulated and the sound from the events is loudly audible. Rooms are decent but not worth the price tag.

The cabins at Candle are a perfect spot for a fun weekend with friends or family! We have done the stay-and-play golf package for years and our stay gets better each time! The cabins are clean and an easy walk to the lake, golf course, and clubhouse. The course was already in great shape- one of the top courses in Saskatchewan! The package is a great price and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We look forward to coming back next year!

Me and 3 friends did a play and stay golf trip out here. The course was was kept and nice. The unfortunate part was the staff. The staff was very unhelpful and seemed to have a negative view of people doing play and stays. We were treated as second class citizens and won’t be back. It was not just one staff member either. It happened with at least three staff members. We spent probably $2000 at least in two nights of staying there and felt very unappreciated.

On tour with the Corvette Club of Manitoba we stayed at the Candle Lake Golf Resort.
Friendly and helpful staff, the townhouses were neat, clean and spacious, great for two couples. The Main Lodge is beautiful, dinner and service at the lodge was excellent. Parking reserved for our 9 Corvettes.

Went and visited my parents, who were renting a cabin in the off-season. The staff were incredibly accommodating, the restaurant and coffee shop were great, and there was a fun play structure for the kids to play on.

Had a great time up there with fellow employees on June 12th and 13th. Very nice area. The cabin stay was ok. The food in the restaurant though was amazing. That chicken club sandwhich hit the spot, if it is your first time there, I highly suggest it as your first order. We also had a 5 star server named Jenna who was very nice, attentive, friendly and has a very positive attitude. Will definitely be back. Thanks again!

Highly recommend for a winter getaway! Clean, comfortable stay, lots of activities, excellent food and phenomenal staff. Pam’s friendliness, customer service and the personal touch she provided was second to none. Our server in the restaurant all weekend, Lexie, was friendly and a great server. This was our first experience and we will definitely be going back!

We came here for a few days of ice fishing. The rooms and amentities were amazing. To bad we didnt catch any fish: (. Next time.

Beautiful place to visit, the rooms were clean and confortable! If only one suggestion is to have activities available in mid season.

Just spent 2 nights here, And I'm impressed, love the decor. Looking forward to coming back in the summertime

We rented a cabin for our family of 4 along with our cat and dog for holidays and to celebrate our friend's 20th wedding anniversary. Cabin was clean and stocked. Cabin could use a newer portable air conditioner as the hose was slightly connected with tape that didn't stay on well causing more hot air to be blown in the cabin than cold air. The last couple of days the temperature was cooler, so we didn't use the air conditioner. My boys enjoyed golfing while I enjoyed relaxing!

Course was in great shape! Food was decent - even managed to have a celebrity sighting.

Ate supper at the candle lake golf resort and would be hard to convince to go back. The food was ok at best, the staff barely smiled, took 10 minutes to get menus and another 10 for water and coffee. 1/6 of our orders was wrong twice in a row, the table wasn’t fully wiped down, the coffee had a strange green tinge to it, coffee grounds in one of the water cups, had to ask for cutlery twice AFTER our food was served, no salt/pepper/basic condiments. As we were leaving, the one brown haired waitress was seen scratching her behind, pretty deeply.on her way to the kitchen… to then serve someone their food. The main guy who seemed to be running the dining room floor was wonderful despite everything. He did his best, took the one meal off the bill, and was friendly/apologetic the entire time. I understand that everyone is busy and understaffed but as someone who also works in a fast paced customer service environment it was pretty disappointing.

We had our wedding at the resort
on July 16th and could not be happier. Our guests came from all over Canada were so impressed with the resort. Cabins were well equipped and comfortable. New hotel rooms are beautiful. The owners, Natalie and Brian were so kind and amazing to deal with. Constantly checked in with us upon arrival and continued to do so during our stay. It was super hot during the ceremony, they went above and beyond by bringing out a case of water for the guests and letting me and the girls hang out in the off sale in the AC while waiting to go down the isle. The food was amazing and the service during our dinner was prompt. The golf course was pristine and was a stunning backdrop for photos. I would absolutely recommend the resort to anyone looking to get married. We loved our special day. Thank you so much!

Great view of the lake from the cabin we rented (Tamarack). Perfect size for our family of 8 and could have held a couple more. All the kitchen amenities that we needed were included. Check-in was simple and the staff SUPER friendly and helpful. Golf course was amazing. Loved the deer that wandered throughout the cabin area and the golf course. Would DEFINITELY visit again.

The room no chair no table no place to hang clothes (no closet)
Drapes do not cover the floor to ceiling windows on the ground floor no use machine no wifi.
Not enough light to read papers unless I do it in Bed.
Restaurant food was good.

We are in a golf resort I wanted to see thematically open on the golf Channel. Oh they do not have a su scripting to the golf Channel on the TV at a golf resort.
Did not check in a guy handed mean envelope and pointed in the general direction of my room.
There was no password orwi fi info in the envelope. Just the paid bill.
I spent so much time trying g to get my windows covered everyone was gone when I tried the wifi.

Great course except for hole 1. Hole open during reno but in touch shape.great staff.only complaint Is no beverage cart, even on weekends.otherwise amazing spot

My husband and I spent a few days with our Son and Daughter in Law in May/21 Stayed in a Cabin Very nice accommodations. They have a super golf package! Course is beautiful!

Brian and Helen were so kind and helped us out with anything we needed. The room was very nice and the restaurant is lovely and the food delicious. Staff are very friendly! Just stayed in one of the recently built hotel rooms overlooking the lake. This was our first winter vacation here (have been here many times in the summer) and it did not disappoint! We booked one of their winter promotions that included ice fishing and snowshoeing. We also rented a hot tub which made our vacation that much more enjoyable. The staff there are absolutely amazing, accommodated to anything we could ever need. A very special thanks to Lucas, Helen, Brian, Hailey, Taylor and last but not least Mr. “Swayze” (aka Blair). We recently stayed there in one of the Birch cabins to go snowmobiling. Right behind the cabins there is access to the snowmobile trails which is really convenient! The cabin has a separate entrance with lots of coat hooks where we could hang up our gear and lots of room in the parking area to unload sleds. We ate at the Waters Edge restaurant which had beef tenderloin with risotto on special and it was amazing! The quality of the meal seemed like something you would get at a restaurant in Banff. On the must try list is the honey dill chicken wings and the sticky toffee pudding. In the morning, we went to the Angry Beaver cafe to get coffee and were pleasantly surprised with the resiprocate coffee that they serve since we are pretty picky coffee drinkers. We are hoping that the snow sticks around and that we will be able to come back to snowmobile again this year! Thanks again for the awesome stay!

I've had such warm hospitality the past few days working from the café at CLGR. The Wi-Fi has been terrific and I have been able to get work done remotely at the lake. Iced cold brew has been a staple to my productivity; I recommend the hazelnut! Thanks to the staff and team who have allowed me to work from the lake productively.

The hotel was amazing! Very well equipped with all you need, very clean and the view if the water is awesome. Everything is close by, and all staff are friendly and helpful. We definitely recommend staying here!

We booked one of the newly built 3 bedroom Poplar cabins. Cabin was excellent, well equipped and spacious. The fire pit tucked into the corner grass area surrounded by trees was a bonus - very private. We also found it very convenient that they have an off-sale in the main building. The golf course itself was beautiful and well kept. I'd recommend this resort and would definitely come back!

I can't say enough about the office staff at check-in and about the process from start to finish for the booking. Extremely helpful and the stay and play package that was provided for our 6 night stay was amazing.

The pro-shop staff was just as friendly as could be and extremely helpful with our daily rounds (2 per day). Just one small hiccup during one round but that was sorted out and frankly if that was our only real issue t really wasn't bad at all. No course s perfect and the green on hole one was under repair but again that was to only on course concern (some of the sand traps needed some minor work). The course itself played fairly quickly, greens were large, tee boxes were large, fairways in above average condition. We played 11 rounds there in 7 days and we were very satisfied with the experience.

Restaurant staff was also pleasant and the food was good and well priced.

Having access to off sales on location was also an asset and came in handy. The onsite coffee shop also proved to be very convenient.

The Town Houses we stayed in were well setup and having BBQs with gas hook-ups was also a plus (not dealing with propane tanks is a plus). Backyard fire pits were nice to have and we were lucky to have leftover firewood so we didn't have to buy any which was fine but having firewood provided as part of the experience would be an asset to future users. I understand we can't get everything for free.

There was ample room in the Town Houses for 3 golfers but if we had a 4th using the pull out it would have been to small and inconvenient so that would be something to consider if renting the TH. The TV in one of the TH was very small compared to the other TH which was odd but since we had side-by-side rentals we mostly hung out in one for cards and sports.plus the fire pit so we were well served by both TH.

If I could give 4.5 stars I would but 5 out of 5 is difficult given the odd minor things (One green/Bunkers/TV size). In the end this was a most enjoyable experience and I would recommend a stay here as they over much more than golf. Have a look at their FB page and website.

Had supper at the Water's Edge restaurant at Candle Lake Golf Resort. The service and food was excellent but we sat on the deck overlooking the marina and the seating was extremely uncomfortable. Tables have built in benches like you would see in a park. Disappointing because it's such a nice view.

Paid for 18 4: 00 twilight with a cart, at the tenth hole we were following behind a group of six adults and after them there was a group of five immature kids with a dog. Both were extremely slow. Called the pro shop to see if we could at least get a partial refund and just quit at the tenth hole, they declined and did not care.

The golf course is in excellent condition The fairways are lush, the greens are in great condition, the staff very friendly and helpful we had wings at the restaurant service was good staff were friendly but the kitchen seemed overwhelmed by the volume of customers, the food was very good, we had a very enjoyable time there.

Wing night! The place was hoppin. Friendly pretty professional staff! Cold beer on a hot day, and delicious wings! Beautiful facility, huge Aframe style building, restaurant with golf course and lake views, internet cafe lounge basement! Comfortabe seating, A/C was cool, never got onto the golfcourse but its a top course in Saskatchewan. A must year round resort!

We had a terrible experience at the restaurant. The server “lost” our order and we waited over an hour and a half for our food. My husband went to the pro shop to get us bags of peanuts to eat while we waited, and waited. They were also out of the item our children had originally ordered, so after such a long wait, they couldn’t even eat what they wanted. Food was mediocre and portions were small for the price. Minimal discount for our inconvenience. We will not be back.

Main Pluses:
Cabins/townhouses: Pet friendly 25$ a night extra
Beach is not 'pet friendly' (no signage), but people still bring the little pups sometimes.
Lots of children/super child friendly shallow water for around 100ft
beach is not busy nor closes at night, so it can be a perfect spot to propose or have a romantic dinner/picnic (the sun sets over the water)
The staff: Kim, Helen, and Rachel are extremely kind and care about their customers time and well-being. (I told them I was excited for some fireworks that were going to be at the beach and they asked me about them the next day. The beach is not part of the resort)

I know it says golf resort in the name, but you do not need to be a golfer in order to have an amazing time. This place has cabins, RV rentals (comes with the RV) in a location that has built on decks/add on living spaces, townhouses, and the resort to stay in. I personally stayed in the Aspen cabins and the last night in the townhouses. The cabins have their own firepits even though it is a shared backyard with a volleyball court. The townhouses had a few firepits to share (big shared backyard), but it was never an issue. They both also have their own BBQs as well. You do not need anything other than food and beverages because the cabin and townhouses were fully stocked with anything you need. Yes, also a wine bottle opener. The staff at the resort are super kind and will help you with everything you need. I have called them plenty of times throughout the day and after hours and they are super helpful, generous, and kind. Kim, Helen, and Rachel were extremely knowledgeable, hard working, and easy to talk to whenever I needed something or had a question. They all gave me a map that shows the variety of activities around the resort. These activities are the shallow beach that extends up to 100ft and the water is up to your waist, a variety of historic/fun hiking trails that range in difficulty and accessibility (some are wheelchair and stroller friendly) all suitable for children, boat rentals (affordable), a bar and coffee shop located inside the resort, as well as, liquor store and two ice cream places around the area. There is mini golf, however, I did not play. The beach was the main attraction for myself. The sand bars are a must see! It is not part of the resort, but a short 7 minute drive away with ample parking that is super close. I had an amazing vacation with my family and cannot wait to return.

Candle Lake is a beautiful area. We have now gone two years in a row for their Stay and Play package and have had an amazing time. The cabins (Spruce and Tamarack) are clean, well equipped and perfect for groups or families. We came up with a group of 12 and had three cabins - perfect!

The staff are also super accommodating and just great to deal with in general. The course is also really nice and fun to play. Beer carts came around regularly and you can tell the maintenance staff are actively improving the course year to year. Great place!

Great place to golf. The new owners are making huge improvements. Soon they are making a private beach. Great place to rent a cabin for a getaway. The restaurant serves delicious food. All in all it’s a beautiful place!

Enjoyed a week of fun with our friends & family at Candle Lake Golf Resort. We had a great time on the course golfing daily, boating on our pontoon rental, relaxing in our hot tub rental and enjoying the great food and service in the restaurant. Thank you to all staff at CLGR - booking our stay & rentals was easy and staff was very accommodating, staff in pro shop was always helpful, course was well kept and enjoyable to play everyday. Thank you CLGR for the great week - we will be back!

Loved our time at the Candle Lake Golf Resort! We enjoyed all aspects of this resort, we rented a hot tub and golfed everyday for our week stay. The restaurant was also excellent for a quick breakfast and a post golf snack! Thanks for the great hospitality and experience-we will definitely be back soon!

Asked for a beef dip without onion or mushroom but it's prepackaged so they wouldn't remove it, instead I got a wrap and fries, but the fries tasted incredibly like fish.server never came back to check on us or give us refills and forgot my sister's dip, yet was willing to go to the table behind us constantly and refill their drinks and check on food. They didn't discount the meal, and the server did all she could to avoid us.

So much improvements happening here, very long course, long par 4s and awesome par 5's, few greens are pretty bare and patchy but the rest of the course makes up for it, favorable to a left draw or slice lol, very picturesque, very close to water on a couple holes, too bad those holes didnt feature the water a little better, just cut those trees down lol, townhouses and stay and play were a hit with our mens group, so much to see and do around the area, definitely a fum filled 3 days of golf, service was excellent clubhouse, restaurant, cold beer and wine store, marina wow its an amazing place, under new ownership or management because it shows

Very disappointed with the cleanliness of the townhouse. For the times we live in plus the price you pay these places should be clean. We found a dried contact on the kitchen floor, the bathroom shower had hair in it, the other bathroom floor I wiped down with a hand towel- to which when finished the hand towel was brown, plus the bbq had not seen a cleaning in months. There were numerous other issues - I am sure you get the point. It was a huge disappointment. When you stay at a ‘resort’ and pay resort like prices I expect better. Our family was just at a different Northern resort location last month and their cabins were superb compared to Candle Lake Resort plus less than half the price!

Had the most amazing evening with the best service from Jocelyn. If you want great food and the best service ever, come to the clubhouse and enjoy the great service. Two days in a row. This lady is amazing.

An absolute gem! Clean and spacious accommodations, with all the modern amenities for a wonderful getaway. The staff treated us like like royalty making sure we were comfortable. I would recommend staying here to anyone. Great experience overall!

Thanks for great meal and a Drink. Glad to see changes happening. And looking forward to Couples night Friday evenings again this year. Don't change that please. Haha

Food was good.service was a bit slow, on accounta there was a function at the same time.great view of the marina, and the 18th hole.

Mother Nature has blessed this place, but camping isn't up to my expectations. <br/>The location of our site is fine, but the sewer drain is nearly 1 foot above ground level and at the far back of the site! I always carry sewer hose extensions, but, still, our black and grey tanks would not drain. The site needs to be at LEAST 8 inches higher. <br/>Garbage bins are so scarce, it took us 3 days to locate the only one at the far end of the compound. <br/>Come on, Management, fix this site for the next person. Also, try to provide better trash collection.
