Delta Bessborough Gardens

Friendly and helpful front desk staff, other staff too. They are professionals who know what good customer service means. The room was a little dated, but also nice. Overall I would be happy to stay here again. And breakfast was good.

Common public areas such as gym were very nice. Room was small and needed updating. HVAC system was noisy. Restaurant didn't offer dinner and breakfast was very expensive and my husband's order was wrong. Hotel personnel were generally friendly and helpful.

Had some issues with check in, but not only did they fix my issues, staff provided me with some extras which was not expected and Management proactively followed up with me to make sure I was happy. Kudos to them for making things right.

Great historic hotel with a fantastic location along the river in down town Saskatoon. Only place we stay when we go there.

I was fairly underwhelmed. I wouldn't call it a negative review, but outside fo the location of the hotel, the property itself doesn't impress.

Not a 4 star property. So disappointed with this hotel. Upon arrival we discovered, there is no door man, no valet parking, no one to assist with luggage. At the front desk, I was told my card didn’t go through for the hold, so was forced to swipe it twice. Low and behold I was charged two times $364x2 for the hold on the room.

This hotel, right in the description claims to have high tech rooms. What a joke. There are no USB plugs. You would not be able to work at the desk as there are no lamps. The attached photos were taken at 7: 45 am and the room is dark.

There are two poorly lit lamps in the entirety of the sparsely decorated room. There is zero charm to this room at all. This hotel, given its historic nature should be oozing with charm

There are no amenities in the bathroom that you would expect at a hotel like this. Two cars of soap and a small bottle of lotion. That’s it. The shower head has horrible water pressure in the morning and it took approx 15 mins of running the shower before there was even lukewarm water.

The only thing this hotel has going for it, is it has comfortable pillows.

ETA: after discussing some of these concerns on check out The overnight parking charge ($18) was reversed. It was a nice gesture

Update Aug 24th: guess mgmt decided that the front desk clerk offering me free parking wasn’t cool, because they ended up charging me for parking after the fact and after I had paid my hotel bill. Nice. Don’t stay here

Service was excellent, with very friendly staff. Clean rooms, and the river view is beautiful! The regular rooms are great for the price, but the suites are highly over priced for what you get. Unfortunately, the room service menu is misleading as the “All Day” menu is not available until after noon, unless you’re willing to wait an hour for them to make it. We did not end up ordering any food, so I can’t comment on the quality.

The hotel is great, because it’s history and looks but…. The pool had the walls green…. The food was not good at all, I recommend to eat in any of the close by restaurants, plus they need to clean it more, there was nobody in the restaurant and yet the carpet was dirty with crumbs….
My room was very clean but my view was mostly the roof, and it had couple dead pigeons right in front of the window, sad and gross, and I found weird that the coffee machine is in the closet
But it’s really great to be in a castle looking like hotel that’s why I gave 4 stars

A beautiful grand railway hotel, but the service and upkeepof the rooms did not meet expectations

Just Came for a meal outside - the patio cafe. So good to sit outside in the shade, enjoy a shandy, and a Caesar salad with chicken. Everyone thought the food was good and a reasonable price for a famous large hotel too. Service was excellent, staff informal but right for the ambiance of the patio.
Just thought the flower planters could do with being more vibrant and maintained. Otherwise all good.

Stayed at the Bessborough, in Saskatoon, midweek for one night. Beautiful hotel and fantastic location being within walking distance to many different pubs and restaurants. Also has several restaurants, in the hotel, along with a pool bar and a great Spa business (we paid for the couples package which I highly recommend). We had a room with a great view of the gardens and river. The room was of average size and the only downside to rhe room was there was virtually zero counter space, in the bathroom, for toiletries. Parking, at the back of the hotel was convenient but did cost $18.

Looks like a castle on the outside, does not feel like a castle on the inside. It is an older style on the inside, how you might expect it to be by looking at the outside. However unlike the spacious classy exterior, the Interior is cramped and tacky. Things seemed relatively clean and the bed was comfy. Staff were ok.
The location is fine because it is right downtown and close to amenities, bars, and so forth.
They allow pets, but I wouldn't say they are keen on it.
For a one night stay it was alright.

Would have liked to give you more stars on the service but I didn't interact with any of your employees, that's the only reason you got that score.

I love going to the Bess, but there needs to be some investment in the fabric of the building in places.

You aren't going to stay in many hotels with as much character as this one. Even if you are from Saskatoon you should plan to spend at least a night here every so often.

Great stay, very nice, fancy looking rooms and hotel. Didn't eat here though. Pool more for adults

We thought this was one of the top hotels to stay at-
The service was terrible- we tried to order room service 3 minutes after they closed (two steaks nothing small) and they refused- they have no bathrobes- at all-
What luxury hotel has no bathrobes to go to the pool?
no menus in the rooms-
The guest service was rude-
they have no customer service- we were honestly shocked
It was a terrible experience.
We pay a premium to stay at the top hotels with exceptional experience- we always stay at fairmont- this was not worth a premium at all-
We even had dinner on the patio- and the dome we reserved to eat in was covered in dirt-
I feel this is basically like staying at a regular-unexceptional hotel.
I would never stay there again.

What are you paying for?

The food provided by the Bessborough for Jazzfest was extremely expensive and terrible quality. Being it is the only food option for this event, it was expected that we would be able to enjoy our experience. Again, terrible and expensive! Frozen hamburger patty that was not even warm with cold piece of cheese on top no extra condiments, $10. Rice with a thin layer of tasteless chili ontop $15. Ridiculous.

Great value for money and excellent location. The building is heritage (I think?) and therefore quite lovely. Rooms were clean. Bed was super comfy. Breakfast was delicious (get the fruit and yogurt parfait!). The coffee machine in room was a nice option because the coffee in the restaurant was undrinkable. WAY TOO STRONG. ;)

A very nice, château style hotel. Convenient location downtown. The signature lounge had good variety of breakfast items and evening appetizers.

Awesome place the bar and bar tender staff was awesome service is great great atmosphere love it this place and you can find kind of wine highly recommended

Worst Hotel I ever visited who charged big money and they didn’t had sleepers even in the room, then I asked for Water bottles their poor housekeeping team bring in 30 mins.

Totally Wastage of Money

This is a very special heritage hotel with a breathtaking presence on the south Saskatchewan river. The staff were friendly and the room was well equipped. Must admit some things are showing age and I understand it is probable there will be a renovation soon and possible rebrand to autograph series. That being said this is an incredible venue worth staying in while visiting Saskatoon.

Lovely historic hotel close to walking path, stores, pubs and restaurants. Friendly staff, clean, comfy beds and large rooms. You will love the old charm of this hotel.

Has the best service in the city, most places if you’re a poc you might get dirty looks but this place is friendly and accommodating all around! The rooms are tidy and clean. No matter the room, the views are nice. You feel very good when you stay here and you’re right uptown so you can go explore then come back to your amazing room!

Great hotel! Beautiful architecture & design that highlights the hotel's history. We stayed in a Jr. Suite which was spacious and comfortable with a view of the river. I highly recommend the hotel.

Storied and character driven hotel. Queen Jr suite was well equipped and comfortable.

The only pet peeve I have is paying for parking on top of everything.

Room is freezing, -30 outside they brought a heater up for us to help warm it up the room, as the Hotel room heater would not keep up. Great view from the room over looking the river makes up a bit for the cold room.

We recently held our memorial for a beloved family member at the Delta Bessborough by Marriott. Working through this time of the pandemic has not been an easy task - staff numbers were, understandably, challenged, yet all worked hard to ensure our event was flawless. Our family is so grateful. The full afternoon and evening event was excellent, and we extend gratitude to Amanda Philipenko and her team in Banquets for the outstanding job, as well as all the support team and Catering team. You helped us create a most memorable event, and we could stay focused on that which was most important to us that day - our journey in healing.

The rooms were clean however I was there this past weekend for a close friends wedding. They made no effort whatsoever to make the day extra special for her. It was +33 that day, when she asked quite politely for a bottle of water (twice) they rudely told her she can walk to field and get water for herself. The bartender was also very rude, eye-rolling, not interacting with the wedding guests at all. During the dance we were understanding about the covid restrictions even though they ended at midnight (wedding was July 10), we weren’t even allowed to dance at our seats. I guess COVID is more contagious when dancing then sitting in the same spot. While these details seem minor, they can really make a difference to the bride who paid for a magical experience and got a subpar wedding experience

The hotel and rooms are beautifully decorated and the bed was comfortable. The price was very reasonable and it was well worth the stay.

The room was nice, the bed was comfy and the view was amazing. Apart from that I’m unsure if I would recommend the hotel. Went for a couples massage, the mildew smell was stomach turning, massage therapists didn’t even introduce themselves, used an excessive amount of oil and the music was overly loud for a relaxing massage.

Went to the patio today for lunch at 12, as it’s my birthday and the service was horrible. Our party of 4 sat at our table for 10 minutes before our waitress even came with waters and to take drink orders. 20 minutes later we finally got our drinks 2 cups of coffee that were cold (had to go up to the bar to ask for spoons for the coffee and to get fresh coffee), 1 mixed drink and to be told that they were out of the other drink ordered, 15 minutes later we got the last drink. Finally took our food order after being there for 45 minutes, food came in a reasonable time (25 minutes), food was nothing special, a frozen pizza for $15 is ridiculous. One person from our group ordered a beer when we got our food, about 15 minutes later the beer finally comes and we are finally asked how our meal is. That was the last we saw our waitress, one person from our party had to go up to the bar to ask for the bill. So in total we were there for about 1 hour 45 minutes, saw our waitress 6 times and it wasn’t busy. 3 girls were working, other tables that came around the same time to even 20 minutes after us were getting drinks and food before we were. I doubt I will ever be back and I definitely won’t recommend the patio.

We had a wondrfulmstay. Rooms are big, staff friendly and ambiance relaxing and very comfortable. We all had great nights sleep in comfortable beds!

Very unimpressed with hotel staff during our stay. Our friends got married at this hotel in May and the couple had the presidential suite booked, (biggest room you can get at this hotel) and at 4PM before dinner, the wedding party was in the room while the newlyweds took photos, and the staff knocked on the door multiple times and phoned the room 3x telling us we were being too loud and that they were going to kick us out. I can understand this if it was past 11PM, but you would think if we had the biggest room booked for a wedding, they’d be a little more reasonable. It was 4pm! No one was yelling, or being overly loud, but just with our talking they said we were too loud. The person in the room next to us was the one complaining, as they kept banging on the adjoining door. It made our experience uncomfortable, and to this day, I don’t understand why the hotel staff didn’t just move the unhappy person beside our room. I am sure the hotel was not at full capacity. I would not recommend this location for any type of event, if you’re with a group. The newly married couple had another room booked on the sixth floor, which was half the size of the presidential suite which we ended up having to move to. On top of the thousands of dollars the couple spent on their wedding, multiple rooms and dining, they charged the newly married couple a $200 “noise fine. ”

Good customer service, beautiful views, clean hotel. 5 pm check out is fab & unique. Surrounded by trendy diners and upbeat downtown vibe.

Beautiful hotel! Loved the location too! We had a river view room, and the staff were very friendly and courteous. My only dislike is the fact that parking was not included in the rate.

Front desk worker is very rude and ignorant. Not accommodating to any requests. Pop machine stole our money and when we asked about same, she said “well that’s a Pepsi problem, not ours”. Also asked to change the name on the receipt and pay with different credit card, would no do this and was very rude about it.

Great stay as usual. Had issues with temperature in room due to the transition from winter to summer. When I stayed, the furnace was still in use and they had not yet switched over to AC. I had to open the window. Will stay at same hotel when I am in the area.

The staff were first rate. They made us feel welcomed and went out of their way to help us. We will definitely be back and would recommend this hotel to all we know.

We took our daughter to "the castle " for her 7th birthday and they treated us like royalty! Room upgrade and all!

The staff were all so courteous! I can't say enough amazing things about our night there.

Great position, easy to go shopping, or to go out for dinner and drinks. Breakfast is a bit slow service, so this time we went out for breakfast. We stay here a copule of months before that. It's clean and comfortable rooms and beds. We stay here only two times, but I would stay again. Planning to go back this summer

A very distinct and neat hotel. Clean, beautiful views, great service, and elegant decor. With a swimming pool, sauna, hot tub, gym, spa, and restaurant you'll have everything you need to enjoy your time here. The only points I would say could improve are better humidification and quieter heating systems! Also, the river view was was great but with a small window it made it hard to enjoy fully.

I just wanted to share a negative experience my mom had with you guys today. She is very ill and has many health issues and had just left a doctors appointment. She stopped in the lobby to ask if she could use the restroom and was told that she should walk all the way to midtown. I get that it’s not a public restroom, but where is the humanity, when an older woman, clearly in distress really needed to use your bathroom and you told her to walk blocks away to find one? I’ve stayed at your hotel before and loved it but this has definitely made me look at your establishment in a different light. She has done two knee replacements and walks very slowly, and it isn’t without pain and discomfort. Thank goodness the nice people at Hudson’s were kind enough to allow her in without hesitation. Shame on you.

Hotel and service is great! If you stay ask for room with view of the river. Sheraton across the street has balconies and better view of the river:)

As many of us have been limited in our travelling in recent months (I have not been out of town for over seven months) I was very happy to land in Saskatoon at this lovely residence at a time where it wasn't -35 and blowing a gale.

Full marks for COVID management. Full marks for a beautiful location.

Originally built in 1930, what a beautiful hotel. Vicki checked me in. Was very kind and courteous. Will definitely be back!

The Delta hotel is a beautiful landmark of Saskatoon. The architecture and upgrades make this hotel a must see. The garden is popular for weddings and other venues. She has been here since Saskatoon was thriving into the city we know and love today. The popular place to look at the bessborough is across the street from the doubledecker ice cream bus. The ballroom still has the cigar pipe smell that history handed down. I would stay here to reminiscent about the history and splendor of each floor built by men and women who made this castle that is known around the world.

We had team builder adventure at the the hotel. Staff (Char is the best:) ) were absolutely more the accommodating, friendly and engaging. Stay was great and would definitely recomend staying at this Gem of saskatoon to anyone!

This place is only some new carpet and bathroom counter space away from 5stars! Great location, bed, staff and bedside power outlets.

This is a very classy hotel. Even though it's a historical building, the rooms are newly renovated and pretty clean. Staff are nice and helpful! Highly recommend if you're staying in Saskatoon downtown.

My wife and I had a very beautiful stay at the Delta Hotels by Marriot Bessborough! The ambience of the hotel was beautiful, the staff were courteous, and the food was tasty. The room was really lovely, with very comfy beddings. To top it all, we had a complementary room upgrade! It was a very beautiful experience for us.

The staff there are known to be really friendly, a long time ago a staff member fell from the 7th floor to the main lobby and died. Apparently his spirit, dress in a gray suit and fedora, greeting guests silently with a warm smile.
