Homestead Ice Cream & Novelties

On Saturday September 9 myself and four friends went to Homestead for ice cream at 10: 15pm. On Google, as well as their hours posted at the store it says they are open until 11pm. We were told they would be closing soon as we were standing in line trying to decide what wanted. We ordered and sat outside. One of the workers came out and said they were closed and we needed to leave the patio area. Now the time was 10: 30. As we sat on the benches at the front of the building finishing our ice cream three more people tried to go in and were turned away.
Pretty poor service Homestead I don’t think I will be back anytime soon.

Tons of flavours of homemade hard ice cream, and the service was friendly and fast. Mexican pecan chili chocolate ice cream was delicious!

The quality of the products has drastically declined. This is more ice milk than cream. The Tiger flavour is no where close to the original - horrible aftertaste. After being a customer for years, I’m not sure I will be returning.

Such amazing ice cream! Had the cherry cola tonight and it might be my favourite ever ice cream.

Went there this evening for an ice cream on this hot summer night and the kid told me it was closed at 9pm store hours are until 10: 30, the little kids were crying because they lost out on their treats. He was obviously in a rush to just go hang out with his friends. Owners should probably hire some senior staff. Not the first time this has happened, staff complaints about no a/c seems to be their go to excuse. Terrible shame won’t be returning. Regal Confectionery sells ice cream right beside them. Still got my ice cream thanks Regal Confectionery.

I just got back from a deployment. My hair is still helmet flat and short. I walked in to order brownie treat that I love from here. I have never felt like such and alien. The children they employ, were talking under their breath seeing who would serve me. There was no line nevermind. Absolutely disgusting, I wasn't greeted when I approached the ice cream counter. Instead it was cartoonish snickering and absolute gross chilling behavior. Tall skinny hockey haired boy and shorter brunette teen.

It's good ice cream. It's a bit loud inside, and usually busy, but they're good at getting you out the door.

Has been a staple in the neighbourhood for years, love going there with my daughter now. Best softserve ever.

Unlike the previous review I had horrible service. After standing in line a young woman took my order then proceeded scoop my ice cream which took forever because she was having a great chat with her coworkers. My wife had placed her order after me for a banana split and was ready before my server could scoop ice cream into a container. I had enough of the conversation about who had exams and who didn’t. I asked her if she could just finish my order rather than yapping with her coworkers. I was approached by a young man who told me I could not speak to her like that. I replied with I just wanted her to do her job and asked to speak to the owner. He replied that he was the owner and that she was getting to my order.
I have never had such a lack of respect as a customer.
I will not return and will let everyone I possibly can to not support this establishment for this reason.

Ice cream was fine. Service was pretty terrible, staff weren't friendly. I had cash and when I tried to hand it to the cashier, they were already entering debit, which would have been super fine except they hit the button without even looking at me and immediately turned around to chat. My date ended up just paying with debit as we were ignored. Won't be back.

I was shocked by the large selection of flavors, and they are all delicious. The coconut, raisin & rum and coffee are my favorites. The pint they have ready to take out are at good price to have a quality ice cream in your fridge. Extremely friendly staff and quick to attend you even on long waiting lines. A must go at least once a week during summer!

Was very disappointed in this visit. Informed that nothing was gluten free even in a cup. Kid working seemed to have no idea or care about allergies. Was basically told to go away. Pathetic customer experience I will never stray from Fable again.

The only difficulty was trying to decide which flavour to choose from the dozens available.

We have been back to Homestead Ice Cream & Novelties and their soft serve ice cream was delicious.

Found it a bit expensive two scoops on one ice cream one scoop on another price over 12 dollars a bit much

Service is usually not very good, and the ice cream isn’t that great. It’s a city institution, but I’d rather go anywhere else for ice cream. Serving sizes are very large though.

Never seems to open at the right time, constantly closed very disappointing as it says it’s open but then I come and they aren’t open

I visited Homestead Ice Cream today. I put the effort; drove from Regina to Saskatoon. And by Sweet Deep Fried Oreos & Snickers, I'm glad I did the run. Joyce, who's the perfect ice cream barista and Homestead's warm hospitality personified, recommended us the Rose & Honey (flavour of the day) - only to blow our minds. I will shut up now and say this only - do yourself a favour and visit Homestead every once in a while, I'm certainly going to do so, because it's good for your zen, man! Keep up the good work Homestead team. And Joyce, dude, your are a joy to the world. God bless. Ice cream and Peace for everyone. Amen.
