Northern Greens Resort and Conference Centre

Dirty room. Stained carpets. Musty elevator. Not cleaned thoroughly at all. Tough to get comfortable in such run down rooms. In need of a reno. Stay somewhere else.

A group of us stayed Friday-Sunday. Not sure how this hotel is even allowed to stay open.

Its dirty, especially the vomit smelling elevator, the sticky breakfast room floor, and the whole building is in serious need of some simple maintenance and repairs. My room had only 2 of 6 light bulbs working, bedside night table lamps burned out. I had to track down the cleaning staff to replace light bulbs and to fill the shower body wash dispenser. Not sure why they would need to be told and we’ll they were in the room I thought maybe they would have noticed I needed K-cups and towels.

The breakfast room should probably have a visit from the health inspector. Eggs and sausages were in a heating tray that did not work when the front-desk clerk/ breakfast room attendant brought out more eggs they were also cold. People were warming their breakfasts in the microwave, there was no serving spoons, ran out if coffee and condiments, tables were vey sticky and dirty as there was no staff wiping down tables between customers. To say the least, we has no desire to have our free breakfast the second morning.

The good:
The location is excellent if you’re a golfer.
There is lots of parking.
It’s a 5 minute drive to the most incredible “Mable Hill Farm Kitchen and Market” (Highly recommend the small family plate, best $65 you will spend).

I stayed in the Northern Greens Resort and Conference Centre 2 nights.
The first night, I set the thermostat to 23C and the heater started up, it was really loud but I was under the impression that is working on high load to quickly heat the room. That was not the case.
The first night the heating did not work at all in the room and the heater was so loud that I was not able to sleep at all.

They tried to fix the heater and eventually couldn't, so they moved me into a different room, for the second night.
When I tried to ask for a price reduction on the first nights room, they passed me from one person to another, and eventually told me that they can't reduce the price because they fixed the heater. Shame!

Good location, good food and food service, but poor customer service on the hotel side. I would not stay at the Northern Greens Resort and Conference Centre again.

Room wasn't very clean, bathroom was gross. Wall ac/heat unit didn't work, just made loud hum then cut out. Bathroom fan knob broken off, I turned it with pliers and the fan didn't work anyway. No pen for me to write, no bar soap or decent soap. The obese person above me was very noisy but that isn't the hotel fault. 1 star, thought about asking for a refund and then just keep driving all night.

This hotel is a total dump. Nothing works. The carpets everywhere are disgusting. The breakfast (included) is an epic fail; with rate food and broken machines. Upgrades are desperately needed everywhere. Customer service is non-existent and actually a bit rude. There are no solutions for anything just “it’s not our fault”. Apparently there is new is new ownership since 2020 and it has gone down hill drastically since then. They say they have wifi and there is absolutely none in our 3 day stay.
We did a stay and play with the golf course next door and the hotel actually made money on our stay (figured this out when we asked for a bill breakdown upon checking out).
This is a $50 a night hotel and NOT worth the money at all.

Wifi not working. Was told it was a Sask Tel issue. However no issues with other places Serviced by Sask Tel.
Room 202
Air conditioner in room not working. When I asked for a different room, I was told, they were completely booked, but they could provide a fan. Next morning, I asked for a different room, was again told they were fully booked. I mentioned I would be checking out. An hour later front desk said they could give me a different room.
Door knob on exterior door to balcony came apart in my hand. Gave it to front desk, and person there said he would take care of it. When we returned later, knob was back on, but not properly. They had housekeeping repair next day.
Cover on soap dispenser in bathroom fell off. Same person repaired. Soap dripped all over the vanity for the night.
Moved to Room 108
Old office type room converted to a hotel room. Many burnt out fluorescent tubes thank goodness because there had to be close to 50 - 4' tubes in that room. Very bright.
Key card lock broken off. Replaced with regular keyed lock. Holes in door from key card lock remained. Found broken key card lock in drawer.
Window in room wouldn't open. Window crank was broken.

Overall condition of "resort". Very poor upkeep. Carpets in rooms and elevator were very stained and in need of changing or at least deep clean. It should not regard this as a resort.

Much of the equipment had "temporary not working" signs on them.

We had 3 rooms booked for a total of 7 nights @ $150.00 / night. Extremely overpriced.

Housekeeping personnel were great, considering what they had to work with.

Maintenance personnel were non existent

Front desk staff acted like they could not be bothered. I found it funny that on the front desk was a sign the read something like verbal and personal abuse would not be tolerated.
No one around at check out time.

Too bad, because it used to be the place to stay in Nipawin. Nipawin deserves much better.

Very accommodating front staff. My mom needed a different room last minute and they were able to help. I got into a bind with needing to print something out and they were able to help.

Stayed with friends in 2 rooms (101 and 102). They are on the main floor right when you enter a hallway to the rooms on that level, across from the ice machine, vending machines, and fitness centre door. There was some noise due to the location but overall quiet enough. Our room had a small window that opened as well which was nice. Beds were comfy, our bathroom fan (rm 102) wasn't working but it wasn't a big deal. Breakfast was lovely with real plates/cutlery/mugs (disposable available to take out too), waffle maker, fresh cut fruit, hot scrambled eggs/lil omelets/sausages, plus the other usual breakfast things (juice, cereal, breads, bagels etc). Pleasant staff at front desk as well. Great deal for the price. We will definitely return!

Our beds were comfy. The rooms were clean. The breakfast was tasty, but we had to ask them to restock the food. They were not keeping up with the demand. However, they did after we asked if there was more food coming.

Paid a little extra hoping to get a good night's sleep before a big day at work. Sorry to say that didn't happen as the staff were making very loud noises sounded like moving stuff around and vacuuming. I don't know what hotel business has their staff sounding like they're doing renovations and cleaning starting at midnight, but I won't be back and would not recommend if you're looking for a good night's sleep. I went out and asked if this would be happening all night. He said no. Its 2 am and I still can't sleep because of all the banging.

What I didn’t like:
This is the second stay I’ve been at this establishment. Both times the hot water didn’t work appropriately to the point of lukewarm showers and both times the room heating was EXTREMELY inconsistent and only one of the steam baths worked. Sadly the front desk staff genuinely seem to care but the overall quality is subpar.
What I liked:

- Front desk staff is friendly
Sadly the options are limited in Nipawin but visitors be forewarned!

Rooms are run down and dirty. Pubic hair in the tub, toothpaste on the wall around the sink, grimy dirt on and around light switches, furniture is scratched and very worn, thick layer of dust on the headboard, sink is cracked and cracks have grime embedded, tv didn't work. Positve, the bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean, staff is friendly.

Have been staying at the Northern Greens for many years, always been great. Never had an issue, and staff is always amazing. Best place to stay in Nipawin.

I went for breakfast the other day snd was very pleasantly surprised, my omelet was delicious the hash browns were made with fresh potatoes and the toast was made with fresh in resturant baked bread and a nice little assortment of fruit on the plate. I will definately be back.

Stayed four nights and it was good other than terrible internet. Tried to book tonight and sold out for next two nights due to contractors. Very difficult to book, strict cancellation policy, and they unfortunately are the best hotel in Nipawin and they know it. All that owner cares about is profit and not individual guest at all, they sell out to contractors who tie up property and make it impossible for individual guest to get room. Yes good hotel but you have to plan in advance so far and plan Bette not change, and Internet is Horrible. Very disappointed with experience.

Clean and well kept, grass is like no other and the greens are smooth and fast. Reccomend to anyone i see.

The service at the clubhouse is excellent. Staff are so friendly and helpful. The Spot restaurant has great food and service.

As soon as you walk in to the picturesque lobby you are treated by genuinely friendly staff. Very clean facility. The room was very clean, beds comfortable and a pillow that was neither a cinder block or a feather (perfect). Quiet restful sleep.

The shower has average water pressure, the one draw back that I thought of was the 2-1 shampoo until I discovered the conditioner which was in a separate container, thank goodness.

We forgot diapers (of all things), the manager offered his own car as our truck was pulling our boat. Offered. His. Own. Car! Amazing!

The continental breakfast was well accompanied with the ability to make your own waffles, had omelettes, sausage, fresh fruit (cantaloupe)! Offered a hot and cold breakfast.

The grounds were free of litter. Well cared for property.

Would give this experience more stars if I could. Highly recommend.

Nice hotel. Gym needs serious work and upgrades. Very nice rooms, although some are very small. Excellent complimentary breakfast. Good staff.

Update: had couple of minor issues during my stay, and based on that I posted my first review. But immediately after my review the management reached out to me directly and apologized for the inconveniences and promised better service for the next stay. I am pleased with how the management proactively responded to the issue and guaranteed improvement. I believe this is the purpose of online reviews to help business grow and help business and customers have a better communication.

First Review: Had a terrible experience staying at this place during my trip in Nipawin. Although the room was very nicely organized and clean but there was a strong mold smell and it was very suffocating. Initially I couldn’t figure out where the smell was coming from but later when my coworker who was in another room had the same smell and told me it was due to molds. On top of this there was a group of kids who were really loud and they kept a bottle filled up with urine infront of the door next to my room. The entire floor was so stinky. Finally, their breakfast is the worst ever. The price is reasonable and the receptionist was very friendly.

We had booked a stay and play package for this upcoming weekend. I spoke to staff on the phone twice while booking and no mention was made of the package needing to be paid in full prior to us attending or their cancelation policy being a gift card instead of a refund. My credit card was just to hold the room. Once seeing the forecast was 9 and rain for this upcoming weekend I called Monday afternoon and canceled the package for Sat night. I woke up today to see that they charged me for the stay. I have never had this issue/policy with any hotel or stay and play package. Very disappointed
