Ordered a camera online and it’s been over a month with no updates on shipping. No contact through email and do not answer the phone

I sent in my camera to get repaired in late July.

A month goes by and I was told my camera was repaired and it'd be shipping out by the weekend.great!

A WEEK goes by and I hear nothing so I wrote back. They said they closed for holidays so my camera would ship out tomorrow.

A WEEK goes by and I've received nothing so I send a message back asking on its status.

No response.

I message the next business day.

No response.

I messaged again the next day. At that point it was 22 DAYS since I was told my camera was shipping tomorrow.

Finally i recieved a response saying sorry we thought it was repaired but the tech is still working on it and it needs extra parts so they will repair at no extra parts cost for the inconvenience. Great.

I respond to the message asking if there is an expected turnaround time.

Again no response.

I message again 2 WEEKS later and i ask if there is a status update. No response.

I message a WEEK later asking for a status update. They finally respond saying the camera is being worked on, as they can't get it to work.

A week goes by and I ask again if they can tell me when the repair is expected to be completed and shipping.

No response.

I message 10 DAYS later asking for a status update.

No response.

I message 3 days later. I finally get told they can't get the part to work so they may have to refund the repair. I respond saying ok let me know when a decision has been made, thanks.

3 WEEKS go by and I haven't heard a thing. I tell them I want to receive a refund plus return my diagnostic fee.

No response.

I message again the next day and they finally respond. They need to put the camera back together and then send get my refund less the diagnostic fee back. I ask how long will this take, they say today or tomorrow.

5 days go by I ask what the status is.

No response.

I message 7 days later.

No response.

I message another day later.

No response.

I message a week later. I get a response saying the tech has put it together and it should be shipping tomorrow. It does ship and a few days later I received it.

A week goes by and I still haven't received my refund.

I message again a few days later.

No response.

I then email 10 days later.

No response.

Another week goes by and I message and I finally get a response saying that the e-transfer was sent by accounting a month earlier when my camera was returned. But it has been uncollected so they will re-send today.

A days goes by no refund and no response.

Finally after 7 months of dealing with this company i finally received my refund.

I can not recommend using this camera repair store at all. My issue is not that they weren't able to repair my camera, it's there complete disregard for their customer service.

In the end I'm out over a 100 with shipping and the diagnostic fee cost, plus countless wasted hours.

If you use this company, expect NO RESPONSE!

I inquired with this business and was surprised by his long wait times and policies. I asked him if I could drop my gear off at later time and he said only if I give him an extra $150. He explained it as a “rush fee” but I was not in a rush. I was ok to come in whenever he wanted. I started to ask around if this was typical industry standard, and Garrett immediately got very angry and used some unkind words. I was shocked that a business would treat a customer this way so I gave him a 1-star review based on poor customer service. He then started to publicly shame me because he felt the review wasn’t fair. I was open-minded - maybe I wasn’t being fair? So I apologized and agreed to change the review in exchange for some better customer service. Rather than accepting my apology, his behaviour became even more erratic. He researched me, found out I had a business and he was out for revenge. He gave MY business a bad review complete with accusations and lies. I found this very immature and unfair but I wanted to get along so I offered ANOTHER apology and offered to change my review if we could chat and work out some better customer service. He did not respond. So, just to clarify, I never did use this business due to the erratic customer service I received.

I then took my item to another local camera shop and they had it fixed within 5 minutes, and they charged me ZERO! I feel like I dodged a bullet here - I could have waited 3 weeks, paid him $150 plus whatever he was going to charge for the repairs but instead I got it done for free in 5 minutes.

I feel that this is a fair and honest review, and if Garrett wants to apologize for his behaviour and offer some good customer service I will most definitely forgive him and change the review. Everyone has bad days and everyone deserves forgiveness! But my opinion right now is that this guy is a really difficult person to deal with.

I had very unpleasant experience dealing with Paramount Camera repair.

My Nikon D750 wasn't displaying any information in the viewfinder. Not the end of the world, but I wanted to get it fixed. I sent my camera to Paramount where they quickly assessed damage to power PCB board from a drop or bang and sent pictures showing the damage. One of the parts had to be ordered in and would take three weeks. Three weeks later they contacted me to let me know the camera was fixed and they were sending it back to me.
When it came back the issue was fixed but the battery wouldn't hold a charge. Completely dead with in 48 hours. I tested it with different batteries; same. They suggested I send it back. Suddenly it seems like I am dealing with a different company. Over the next two months I heard nothing from them unless I contacted them first. They didn't even contact me to tell me they had received the camera or the results of their testing. Every two weeks (which I don't think is unreasonable) I would contact them to get an update. Apparently, they battery drain wasn't happening for them. So, thinking it must be transient glitch, I had them send the camera back to me.
I get the camera back (again with no communication from Paramount, it just arrived in the mail) and the battery issue is still there. They suggested I send it back to them again or that they could offer me a partial refund. I asked for assurances that they would look at it immediately and contact me with updates. They suggested that was unreasonable. So I opted for the partial refund. Crickets! And no refund yet.
I can't really speak to their technical capability (I had two different results,) but I will say that their communication is abysmal.

Bought a camera with 2 lens, although it was a good deal sadly the story turns upside down…

Couple days later get refunded for one of the lens because they say it was sold out
Camera arrives and it’s missing the other lens I purchased. Turns out they sent me the wrong camera then sold the camera I purchased.
Desperately needed this for a project now I’m a month behind and scrambling to find something that will work because of their 2 mistakes
Only semi good thing I can say is that they easily gave me a refund … just said it had to be done online which takes days or else It cost me 17 bucks …
Be weary buying a camera online from them, service in person doesn’t seem horrible

Expert and fast repair of my vintage Nikons. They will be ready for another 50 years service! I recommend Paramount for anyone who wants their camera, new or old, put right.

Ordered a used lens, a piece was damaged in shipping and they were super quick to get back to me and ship out a replacement. Awesome and friendly customer service! Will definitely make future purchases here.

I have taken various camera bodies and lenses to paramount for cleaning & repair. They have fixed a few things I thought for sure were hopeless and they came back good as new. I definitely recommend.

Really happy with the work done and service provided. They told me the approximate value of my camera and had a transparent conversation about costs of service to help me decide what was worth cleaning/repairing. They were honest and realistic about timelines, and friendly to deal with. They accidentally replaced something that I had declined, and as a result did not charge me for it, since it was a miscommunication (with no prompting from me). They can get quite busy, with long wait times, but again, this is communicated well. Will definitely use again!

My Canon 24-70mm F2.8 L lens developed issues a few months ago. My cameras started displaying a "Err 01 - Communications between the camera and lens is faulty", and the iris was stuck closed. After searching online, I contacted Paramount Camera and asked if they could look at it. They agreed and I sent the lens to them via Canada Post (I'm in Northern Ontario). It was received on September 21 2022, they confirmed the issue, told me it needed a new iris, and quoted me a price for the repairs. I agreed, and promptly paid the invoice. On Monday September 26th, I texted them and asked for an estimate as to when it might be done. They told me it would be done later that week, Friday September 30th. Two weeks after September 30th, on Thursday October 13th, having heard nothing from them, I texted them again and asked for an update. There was no response. Now I was getting worried, wondering if I had just been scammed out of over $500. I text them again on Monday October 17th, and they said they were really busy and the lens would repaired soon. A shipping label was created with Canada Post on October 18th, but it wasn't actually shipped until October 24th and I received it on Friday October 28th. When I tested out the lens, it worked properly for 10 or 12 shots, then I started intermittently getting the "Err 01" messages again, and any shots that were taken were very overexposed. Also, the zoom ring was jamming at the 24mm end, which it wasn't doing before I sent it to Paramount Camera. I contacted them again with the issues and they requested that I send it back to them. After reading over their warranty and thinking about it for a few days, I decided that I will find someone else to repair this lens. I really get the impression that they are so busy running their business, they don't have time for their customers.

I send in a 1DX mark II in January and still haven’t got it back, all the time excuses and no solution!
Not happy with the service and the way they are treating me.

Update: i’m sad to say the problem came back. As i was finishing my first roll after receiving my camera the shutter started sticking again. I did try to get in contact with them, but i got no reply. In contrast to when i emailed them the first time around to get my camera repaired i received an immediate reply, after that communication was never very good. I thought of contacting them a second time but looking through the reviews, my case is not the first time this happened. It may not be worth the time and shipping cost to get my camera sent over there again only to be misdiagnosed and for the same problem come back in a few weeks. It’s a real shame, i had high hopes.

Original: I sent my Nikon f3 over due to a sticking shutter. They diagnosed and fixed the problem, and the whole process was a breeze. Thank you! I’m very happy to be reunited with my camera.

Had recently gotten a new camera for myself and decided to look for an extra battery for it. After hunting for a while I was told to check these guys out. I went right in and asked if they had the one I needed and they did. They are so kind and helpful.

Always have what I'm looking for and will be honest if the repair is worth it or not. They have even given me a few dollars for a few older cameras they could use for parts so I used that money to buy another battery there.

We would highly recommend Paramount Camera Repair! We went in to get our camera fixed and Garrett was so helpful and honest. He helped adjust our camera settings and recommended what we need to purchase to fix our camera. He was very honest about helping us find the cheapest option. We will definitely be using his services again in the future!

A Hasselblad camera I owned locked up. I felt it was the lens and sent it in. I was informed they could find no issue with it.and advised to send in the camera body. Upon inspection it was indicated it required a CLA, which was performed. On return I managed half a roll before the issue occured again. On warranty I sent back the body and lens. I was then advised a spring had let go in the body and it was replaced, though they were unable to show me a picture of the old spring. Upon return I managed six rolls before the warranty expired and the camera locked up once more. I informed them the issue had occurred yet again, and found it dissappointing, without response. I fInally shipped the camera to another shop, they quickly determined there was a loose screw in the lens and provided pictures documenting the issue Explaining this was intermittently shifting and causing the jamming of the camera. All and all an expensive and time consuming experience. Further compounded with poor communication.

I really enjoy using my collection of film cameras. Many of them are over a half century old and having a reliable source to keep them functioning is very important to me.

I am very happy to have discovered Paramount Camera Repair. Garrett is very knowledgeable and has done an excellent job repairing a couple of cameras and lenses for me. This included a CONTAX IIa which has a reputation for having one of the most complex shutter mechanisms. It was not working properly when I bought it but when I got it back from Garrett it was spotless and now functions perfectly.

I will definitely be relying on Paramount in the future to keep the rest of my collection working.
