Let me begin by saying that this is a nice library, excellent resources, and a mostly friendly staff (more on that later) so, naturally I'd love to review this more positively but I had such an awful first time experience when I went to pick up my borrowed media.

The staff member who I think was named Jannah, was pacing around the main desk, because I'm use to small town libraries I went up to the desk to see where my ordered media was. Jannah seemed to glare in my direction look visibly impatient before I asked where it was. After giving me a rude gesture she proceeded to shout at me, "What is your last name" in an aggressive way, I was taken aback by her tone. After collecting myself I responded. Despite telling her she kept asking me in the same annoyed loud tone. Then she paused, asked again, so confused I started to spell my last name, she then quickly changed the question to my first name, so I responded.

She pointed out where it was, in the same very aggressive and impatient tone. After finding it, which was difficult because of how overwhelmed and terrible she made me feel I asked where I sign out the book. In a very condescending tone she directed me towards the self check out machine. I forgot my pin, so I went to look for it in my phone and in the loud condescending tone she continued to berate me for not having a simple code, in my defense it's hard to remember anything when you have someone shouting at you and berating you. I told her that I'll find it and no longer need her help, before she left she made sure to repeat her berating for the fifth time.

I am a person who wants to go to libraries more often, they're wonderful resources, but if I'm going to be treated in this terrible, humiliating, and frankly abusive way for asking a simple question, I don't think I'll want to go to this branch. Jannah doesn't seem like she enjoys or wants to work there given she had such a disrespectful, impatient, and mean tone towards me, and if she or other staff acts that way not only will I want to avoid this branch (which is a shame as it is the closest to me) but I will also warn other people to not go here unless they want a disrespectful staff member to act so rude. I would have sent this as a complaint but the library website doesn't seem to have any section for it. I want our libraries to be good, and worked by good and nice people so that more people use the library and we don't lose these precious resources. But people like Jannah will ruin that positive reputation.

This is our home branch. They renovated several years ago so it's it's huge now. They could really add a lot more books to the space but there is a lot of space for study or just reading. They have a good selection of non-English books.

There is a glassed in space for various art related activities. They have a couple large TVs for videogaming. A decent dedicated youth section for books. A good sized children's literature area with books and games. They have a large selection of DVDs and books on disk if those are things you like to use.

If you have a group that needs meeting space they have space for that as well. It's right in Southland Mall so check it out if you're in the South end of town.

Helpful staff when I asked about something lost. Children's area lets them play and talk without disturbing other patrons. Sunny reading area a pleasure on this very cold day.

Beautiful library. Awesome bathrooms, especially the change tables. And the free hot water in the coffee machine was awesome for warming up my baby's bottle.
